Rostel in New York
The most horrible experience ever. I needed a double bed received a full bed for 3 people. Person who answers the phone VERY RUDE N HAS NO KNOWLEDGE. Owner NEVER CALLED ME BACK. Upset, its showing as a hotel but its actually a shared apartment with 2 other rooms for a goal of 6 or more people shared with. I am very unhappy and I will never stay here again. I was on a time crunch, traveled from another state n needed to be in Harlem at 6 am. I made the worst choice ever choosing this place. They should be ashamed of their false advertisement. But I will let my lawyer handle that.
I wanted to learn about Harlem and not pay a lot of cash to stay in New York. Rostel has all kitchen appliances u will need. The stairs are small and narrow be careful. LADY comes in to wash towels and clean every 2 days. Subway is on the left and right. BUS STOP is right in front of Rostel.
It was a really cool staying specially the 116 train station is around the corner. the only thing I didn’t like was if you pass through 11:00Am they will charge you 40 dollars extra which I think is kind of dumb but the place is clean and as well the cleaning lady she is really kind !
Clean, tidy place. House keeping staff is a treasure. The stairs are murder, though, and the towel rack in the bathroom and the shower knob could both use repair. They fall off at the slightest provocation.
Please be very careful with this cheating hotel. They used very nice pictures to cheat you on Priceline/Ctrip. And they have no people in the place (never expect this a hotel/motel, not even an airbnb). BE CAREFUL!
I paid a long time ago.but they sDidnt get my key ready.and way too expensive...The oven doesnt work.Blood on the pillows.....Never going back
This is a cheapest hostel. Good rooms, bathroom for 6 people, kitchen. I paid $468 for 3 nights. Subway in 20 steps
The place was ok but they didnt give us the right code to get in the hostel. Luckily, after 30 min, another guest was getting inside and let us in.
It is a hostile not hotel, the bad thing is that a small room with shared bathroom, and they have bad customer service
Rooms were very clean and comforting for a hostel.

There is no reception. How to enter the email at the time of reservation is written. The atmosphere from the entrance to the stairs was bad, so I regretted for a moment, but it was surprisingly beautiful when I entered the hotel. The room itself is bright and clean. The hot water on the 3rd floor where I stayed did not come out, so I think it would be ☆ 1 if the key on the 2nd floor was not available. Asian people stand out because it is in the Harlem area, but there is a sense of security because it is in front of the station. The station smells terrible. At night, there is a mysterious scream, a police car or some kind of popping sound, music that can be heard from somewhere, and noisy. If you just go to bed, you can stay here again.
I personally did not like anything.It really is not a hotel. If you arrive before 3pm. You are served by a very kind lady. If you arrive later they leave the keys in an envelope in the portal.It is not easy to find since it has no sign or indication on the street. We found it thanks to GPS.The room has no key, you can store your belongings in a locked cabinet in your room. The kitchen is pretty good. On the other hand, the bathroom seemed very old, with humidities on the ceiling. They leave you towels.
To avoid ... dirty bedding, miserable bathroom (mushroom all over the ceiling), nothing to do with the pictures ... I advise against all, besides the price is very expensive given the location and location. state of the room. No key to close the room (a simple lock on a closet to secure his business ...).
Enough, in case of emergency. Clean beds, the neighborhood is in Harlem. Kitchen and bathroom are shared. The rooms can be locked using the code door appliances.
It is not a hotel. It is an economic place from where you can get to know New York. It is not located in an excellent place and it lacks several details, but it is clean and the facilities work.
Acceptable. The area is not the best, but good price and the rooms are clean. Bathroom is shared.
The wifi does not go, nobody receives you, there is no security, the owner of the place does not attend to your complaints, the TV does not go, the kitchen does not go, the only good thing is the cleaning staff. Not recommended place.
It is a good place to stay as it is a central place where you have transportation and commerce very close, we had a problem with the TV that did not work but it was fixed.
Discretion and efficiency, cheap in a cosmopolitan area of Manhattan.

2019-03-19(Warning: bed bugs!) I do not recommend staying here. The bedrooms can only be locked from the inside, meaning that you cannot leave valuable stuff in your room when leaving the rostel (no safe in the room). Sheets were not cleaned. There were tiny bloodstains on the sheets. After a day we found that there were bed bugs. We had to leave to a hotel. After calling the owner we finally got the full amount back after first being asked to stay at their other place in brooklyn with worse google reviews! We had to clean all our clothes with hot water and clean our suitcases (which we eventually threw away). Bed bugs may not sound like a big deal, but you do not want to take those bugs home with you!

2018-08-30The worst accomodation in my life! Never ever go here. The hotel is filled with bed bugs. I had to throw away my luggage and lots of clothes. The hotel itself is nasty, it stinks and you had to climb two flights of stairs to arrive. You cannot lock the room and so your luggage isnt safe. The grocery man outside knew the numbers to unlock the front door so you can only guess who also knows. PLEASE DONT GO. The area isnt safe, the room is filthy and the hotel owner isnt the nicest.

2018-05-01First this is a Hostel not a Hotel. I wasn’t too sure about booking this place after reading the reviews. But honestly I would stay here again. The location was perfect. Subway access just around the corner. Easy to find, the person in charge was very nice. She let us drop off our bags before check in time which is 4pm. Then let us check in early at 12:30pm. There’s 2 floor levels we were in the 3rd level. The only disadvantage is there’s no elevator. Going up the stair when tired can be annoying. But that’s the only thing stoping me from giving this place a perfect score. The room was really nice. Yes u have to share a restroom with 2 other rooms. But we never saw anyone in our floor. It has a kitchen which was convenient to warm up our left overs. I took pictures and I wish I could post them. But If ur looking for something offordable I recommend this place.

2017-07-11Stayed here for 2 nights and it was nice. It is an apartment, not a hotel. Its also a self check in service. They sent me an email with the self check in instructions but you could also call the number. I had thought that the shared bathroom would be disastrous but it wasnt..the two other guests didnt even arrive (as there are 3 rooms so I pretty much had the place to myself...I think there are more apartments on the second floor but I was on the first)..The only problem I had were the stairs and I dont even call it one, its just that its steep to climb up. But for the price I paid to stay for two nights compared to actual hotels this place is a steal. You get a key to go in the apartment and also a closet key.Your room door cant be locked from the outside but the inside....you also have a key to the closet where you can lock your valuables when youre gone for the dayYou should definitely stay at this place.P.s - to find it, its to the right of the beauty supply store.

2019-02-17Room was exactly as pictured - clean, spacious and easy to get to! Theres a few key conveniences on or around the block to make your stay more comfortable, like Dunkin donuts, burger King, Dominos pizza, Taco Bell and a CVS to name a few. Overall very happy with my stay. Additionally, the quality and helpfulness of the staff exceeded my expectations; reminiscent of a mom-and-pop establishment. 😀

2018-10-26Like a hostel. Separate rooms, but you share the bathroom and kitchen space. No lock on the doors when you leave, just on the closet. Did not like that. Had to put away everything whenever I left. Cool view tho. Affordable!

2020-02-11I dont know how to describe this place. The hospitality of the place is, well they do as much as they can and have to enjoy your stay. I just think $60 for this kinda adventure is too expensive. The price should be 40 in reality. Common areas are in ok shape for the place that is shared. But the bed. Lord....!lets just say If you are coming here to have sex, pull up the bed frame up to the wall and put the matress on the floor. Thats my advice.

2017-07-19To those who plan to stay in this horrible place with terrible service.-This is absolutely not a hotel even though all the websites saying 3 stars hotel.- I made a reservation but never stayed because i never experience a frightful place like this before.- Took me a long time asking people around about this place. Finally found the entrance but had to do self-check in through a scary and creepy stairs with the stinky hallway.- I never see my name on the door as it suppose to after you reserved.- i canceled and never stayed because i think this place is like for hooker and their customers.- HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED- YOU WILL REGRET EVEN BEFORE YOU SEE THE ROOM.

2019-05-30Well you should think twice before going there. I was in third floor with my wife and daughter. No elevator so, 4 50 pounds-louggagge to carry. At night we passed like 2 or 3 hours to search a beattle in our room and we found it as it climbed to my pijamas! (She was angry because we killed two other small ones hidden on our sheets!).We stayed 2 days. The room-cleaner was a really kind woman and she tried to do her best, however it is not easy to leave your luggagge and go for a walk after checking out (we left ours in the hallway)

2018-08-02Worst hostel experience of my life. My friend and I got there at 9pm and tried to find the place but we couldnt since there were no indications about where it is. What we got was a door but there was nothing else. Then we called by phone and what we got was a Spanish woman that barely could speak english. We explained the situation, but she hadnt our reservation number and could not get to the hostel to help us. We ended up by sleeping in other hostel. The place were the hostel is located is very shady and dangerous, specially at night. I dont know if I was the first one to be scammed, but please do not book it!
