Despite having reservations we waited more than 30 minutes, when we asked if they could clear off the table (that had been empty for quite some time) so we could sit down the manager/owner woman yelled at us that they were short staffed despite the fact that she was doing nothing the 30+ minutes we had been there. She then proceeded to physically grab me and tell me I needed to be more patient. I should have called the police. A one star review is not low enough.
It is very hard to describe in words my experience in this place. As soon as you walk in you can feel the warm ambiance this place is bursting with. I really like the main courses, but the real deal were the starters. The eggplant, ceviche, and cauliflower are by far the best I have eaten in the past few years. This place brings new flavors to this neighborhood. The staff extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The restroom was very clean. Seems like this place gets full on a regular basis so I would recommend to book ahead of time maybe even a week in advance. They have a rotating bar menu which makes it fun to come and try new things.Definitely recommend this to anyone in the area that is looking for a new Mediterranean experience.
Was pleasantly surprised with this restaurant. Service was great and staff was very friendly. We ordered several items and loved them all. This place features Mediterranean food and each dish felt light. Meaning you dont feel gross after leaving here. The salmon salad was really tasty as well as the quinoa salad. Definitely will be back
UPDATED REVIEW 9/17/19:I am posting an update as the service and meal experience has done downhill. My last visit was very disappointing. 3 out of 4 entrees ordered - we received the wrong item. When this was mentioned to the waitress, she got an attitude and tried to force us to take the wrong items. I was really craving what I ordered, so asked politely that she still bring me my specific entree. The waitress got upset and tried to prove to me that the wrong item can totally replace the one I ordered - however she was wrong. Mine had mushrooms, and other sides, while the Rothchilds breakfast didnt have them. So, I again, politely asked for what I had originally ordered. Not once did this woman offer an apology or own the mistake. Instead she was angry. When she finally did bring to me what I wanted (once my eggs were ice cold), I said thank you so much, and she turned around and left without saying anything (continuing to be angry). The whole experience left a terrible taste in my mouth and the lukewarm cappuccino did not make things better. I will try to give them another chance but only if I absolutely have to go, however, Ill stick to other options from now on.REVIEW from 2018: What a pleasant experience. The location is great - as theres a municipal parking lot just around the corner. The ambiance is very nice, cozy and down to earth. The waiters are very sweet and the owners come up a few times to ask if all is ok. The service is impeccable. Most importantly, every single dish that we ordered tasted great and could not have been any better. I truly hope it stays as pleasant to visit. Its a great place for a quick coffee run, or to catch up with a friend, or even to celebrate an occasion. Keep up the great work, Rothschilds! Two thumbs up!
My sister in law & I were in the neighborhood and decided to stop in and try Rothchilds. We were definitely not disappointed as the food was delicious. We ordered the Black angus burger with a salad on the side and the chicken shawarma salad which came with a warm piece of pita bread on the bottom- talk about scrumptious! Service with a smile as well which is the cherry on top.
Outstanding meal. Had a kebab platter, one skewer with chicken and the other a lamb asana kebab, delicately spiced, with couscous and tehina. Bread was terrific. My son had a salad which he liked. The only drawback is that place is a little noisy. The prices are comparable to other middle eastern restaurant. Reservations recommended for Sundays and probably Saturday nights.
At the beginning I was very sceptical... because the menu didnt really match the vibe in my opinion...but guys...this place will make u feel like family. The bartenders and waitstaff are so friendly and nice...ok now to the food...there is an option for every taste palate...the fish dishes are exquisite and proportionable. Shir and his staff are pioneers in this business...I know and say that because I travel all over the world...and this is the first time in a US restaurant that really really enjoyed the food. Make sure you order the vanilla halva ice cream....
Drinks: Goldstar dark lager from Israel! Reasonably priced wines and beers with some other interesting drinks available.Atmosphere: Relaxed, clean and pleasant environment. Natural woods and good lighting.Service: The host/hostess (not sure if they were the owners) could not have been more accommodating. Our waiter Jose was very attentive and informative. Excellent service.Price: Reasonable prices. Appetizers range $8-$16. Entrees from $14 to $26.Parking: Metered street parking or the lots in the back.Allergy: Not nut friendly. Unsure about glutenPretty and relaxed restaurant. Mediterranean menu with a twist/flair. Specials everyday. Ours were interesting and sounded delicious including the Watermelon gazpacho. Service was excellent. Not a long wait for the food. Food was served hot and was delicious. Tuna Crustini was slightly spicy with crunchy toast and fresh tuna. The flavors contrasted and was excellent. The veggie burger made with quinoa and lentils was very tasty. I dont like a mushy veggie burger. Despite this flaw (it was crunchy on the outside) I finished it because it tasted so good. Grilled salmon on a cauliflower cream with lentils was cooked to perfection. Fish was flaky and tasty. The vegetables were excellent. My cousins wife had a salad and said it was one of the best she has ever had. I recommend this restaurant highly. Missed 5 stars because that is saved for those out of this world savory food moments.
The Jerusalem Mixed Grill is divine!! The aroma is splendid and the tenderness is second to none! FABULOUS!! The Malabi pudding was also a treat. Tatsy with just the right amount of sweetness. If youre at the bar look for Ashlyn!! She is wonderful and will take the best care of you. No doubt! Definitely coming back!! 😁🙌
Its about time that Great Neck has a world-class cafe experience... and Rothschilds certainly delivers in every respect... the food, the atmosphere and the vibe help to make Rothschild a stellar addition to the Great Neck restaurant scene... Rothschilds serves an eclectic mediterranean-inspired cuisine that is fresh, delicious and never fails to entertain the palate.I enjoyed a wonderful and memorable salad with an expertly prepared Ahi tuna...sublime.Dont fail to try one of their richly brewed Stumptown coffees...Highly recommended and certainly not to be missed... I will be back soon.
Nuevo Meditaranean fare for dinner.... Cool coffee shop in the morning.... Full bar w artisanal cocktails at night, in a no-frills comfortable ambience. The staff is friendly and the service good. It is located a few blocks from GNs LIRR, which makes it convenient. The flavors are a cut above other restaurants in this town, that offer similar food. You will try it and be back for more.
We are visiting Great Neck for the first time and we scanned the Internet for a nice Middle Eastern restaurant. Wow, did we make a great choice with Rothschild’s. The atmosphere and food were incredible but even more importantly the staff went above and beyond to make our experience outstanding. It’s far from Bucks County but if we lived close by we’d be here often.

2022-01-12Enjoyed this local gem for its simple menu and classic Mediterranean fare. Shashuka was excellent, while strange it didnt come with pita, we still had some leftover from another dish. The cauliflower and eggplant appetizers were delightfully light but filling nonetheless. It was my first time here and theres limited outdoor dining on the sidewalk. Get there early if you want a spot outside, otherwise, the indoor seating is comfy and spaced out safely.

2021-09-14Wow what an experience. The food is so so good. So fresh and tasty. After the pandemic the food quality dropped in NY overall but I’m happy to have found Rothchilds which serves exceptional food especially their bread. Fresh out of the oven. Thank you Scott for taking care of us. Rothchilds is an absolute must have.

2021-08-09If you’re in Long Island (Syosset / great neck ) and want to have an amazing Israeli food experience go to Rotchilds coffee and kitchen . Everything we ordered was amazing . My fave was the grilled aubergine/ eggplant. My friend is obsessed with their shakshuka. Majadara was nice too.

2019-11-10Very clean and new gem in Great Neck. The food is awesome, the salmon and steak were cooked to perfection. Great flavors and excellent seasoning. The service a little lacking even though its a small place with a lot of staff. I really dont think you need 2 bartenders in the middle of the day on a weekday.

2019-07-21The best food in NY is in Long Island! Everything on the menu is spectacular, we had the special ceviche with the preserved lemons and blueberry and the beet salad and the salmon tabouli salad, everything was fresh and delicious. A must go place an definitely worth the trip from Williamsburg to Great Neck.

2019-11-04Found this local gem in Great Neck, on Middle Neck Road, and easy to find parking on Sunday, either on the street or there is a public parking nearby. 5 of us and waited for 5 minutes and we were seated. Surprisingly they use Stumptown coffees in this place and not too many found in Long Island and it’s a big plus to me, the coffee lover. They have many choices in the breakfast menu, and we ordered Rothschild breakfast, the pesto, the olive paste are yummy and I can ate them all with the ciabatta, egg Benedict, avocado toast, steaks & eggs, and eggs & salad. They served the ciabatta instead of regular toast and they are so delicious, matched perfectly with the olive oil & vinegar. I will go back again to try lunch and dinner.
