Quality & delicious food on budget! I was introduced to this food cart by one of my colleagues when I moved to work at midtown. I was new to the cart food culture and I’m glad I began at this place. This is owned by some very nice people who are apparently a celebrity couple. Their cart is a standing advertisement with their awards, laurels and newspaper mentions.I usually go for their mixed veggie with rice or dhal with rice but I’ve always found a lot of people picking on the meat choices regularly, that are also offered at a nominal cost. The food quantity is pretty generous and they add a variety of sauces to top off the food. The wait time is about 5 minutes for there’s always a line of people. But what stands out is that they know who has ordered, waiting and even people’s food choices.PS: They have a member punch card and you get a free box of your choice when you accrue 10 punches.
This unassuming halal cart is one of the best I’ve ever had. Perfectly tender meat, delicious sauce and rice, absolutely amazing all around. Almost ate two full platters. Without a doubt one of the best carts in the city and a perfect place to go before a broadway show.
The best food cart in Midtown, Times Square area with assotment of halal and vegetarian food menu! They have rice bowls, salads, sandwiches, falafel and samosas. The thing that I love is that you can mix and match from the menu as you want. Their best item is the Chicken Tikka which has great flavor. You dont need to wait long as they have 2 carts side by side.
Royal Grill Halal truck is a tiny Indian / Halal food cart on the corner of 44th and Sixth Avenue. clean looking truck which always has a small lines throughout the day and night. the truck is serving up a variety of Indian and Halal main and side dishes at wallet-friendly prices like Chicken Tikka, different biryanis, Kati rolls, and much more.got the chicken tikka masala + lamb combo over rice. the seasoning and flavors are definitely from India. the meats were tender but had that nice grill char. the saffron rice soaked in all those grill flavors. got the white sauce and hot sauce added a nice layer of flavor and spice. it’s an ample amount of food. the cart is open during the day to very late. this is definitely a great midtown lunch or dinner option if you’re too lazy to cook or don’t want boring midtown food. the tikka + lamb over rice is $8 + tip.the owner/cook is a nice guy whether it be day or night. this truck always offer hospitality with its eats.drops mic cuz the spice is right
The food from this cart in NY is good and the service is fast. I ordered chicken and falafel over rice. It costed 8$ for one and quantity is very filling. Chicken was tender but the falafel was okay. But would definitely try again and recommend. They only accept cash as payment.
I’m almost hesitant to post about this stall due to the queue that already lines outside it whenever I visit. Goat and chicken curry over rice are authentic, delicious and dare I say even better than some restaurants. All for a very economic price, what’s there to complaint about?
My first street food in NYC and I’m in love. I love the Lamb Kathi Roll and will definitely be ordering more when I’m craving a snack! There’s a slight kick to this roll and I absolutely love it.The first time I ordered this was when I was walking around NYC. The second time was as a late night snack. This is perfect for an anytime meal!
The men in this cart were so rude and disrespectful I will never ever go back. They tried to talk down to me and hit on me at the same time, it was disgusting. When I stood up for myself they became defensive and told me if I didn’t like the food that was fine. This had nothing to do with the food and everything to do with the men inside that cart. I’ve also seen the man who runs this cart talk down to his workers, so I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. Honestly, the food itself is good but they lost my business along with my coworkers over this inexcusable exchange. Disgusting!
So I went to the city to see the rockefeller christmas tree on a saturday night and decided to get some chicken and rice. I thought I would try this place out since I have never been here. So at around 10pm, after circling the block 3 times to find a parking space I finally get to the cart. I asked the gentleman who looks very tired and grumpy if they have chicken tikka and rice for which he replied yes. I said ok give me 2 platters. I asked him do you have philly cheese steak sandwich?. he said no its finished. I said ok thats fine. Then he opens up one of the pots and says I have steak sandwich. I guess he scoops the leftover steak from the bottom of the pan and makes the sandwich. ok whatever. so at last I said whats the total? he said 24. I asked him hows that? its 16 for 2 platters and 7 for the sandwich. he said no, the sandwich is 8. I said the menu on your cart says 7. He said no it is 8 because I gave you fresh steak. OMG! I was like this guy cant be serious. I literally saw him scoop the last steak from the bottom of the pot and reheat it up! I was going to ask him does this mean you dont give fresh steak to all your customers?! he charged me $1 extra just for the hell of it. shame on this guy. squeezing an extra dollar just because he wants to. Anyway I paid this guy 24 and left. I was also going to tell him You do realize that there is a halal truck literally in every corner block of NYC! anyway when I told my friends about this place, they avoided this place and went elsewhere that night. I will never go here again. I will make sure my friends and family dont go here either !!
The platters from Royal Grill will have you questioning if you’ve ever had a good Chicken over Rice before. The flavors are different from your average cart. Has a different taste to it altogether. The spicy rice is great with the Chicken Tikka. The service— impeccable!
The experience was great at this cart. I ordered the chicken tikka with rice which is tremendous and delicious. The owners of the cart are really nice and welcoming. I came two times before and now I come everyday. The cart has cheap prices but, with that it gives a really great quality of food. I recommend you go to this cart.
We ordered a chicken and lamb combo, and one chicken over rice. The combo was okay but we are disappointed by chicken over rice- comparted to any other food truck, there was less meat and covered up with just onions. The guy was grumpy( probably busy) and the hot sauce and green sauce looked like it had color.
The chicken over rice was bland. It had no salt or spice, and there was barely any white sauce or red sauce, even though we asked for extra. What little white sauce it did have, was inconveniently placed over the tomatoes. The gyro was also bland with no spices. I don’t know why this place has such good reviews nor do I know how this food truck won an award when they are incapable of properly seasoning halal food.
I got the combo over rice and it was delicious. Not only was the food great the experience was too. The halal cart is owed by a lovely couple who are really nice and they like to engage with their costumers. They give whatever sauce you want and how much spicy ness you prefer. The food and experience was 11/10 and I will come back again. This was my first time and will certainly not be the last. 😄
Visited the place on a Saturday night after reading their good reviews. But was disappointed by the experience. The food by itself was ok, but they did not mention that had run out of some of the ingredients like salad and veggies.I can understand vendors running out of stuff after a long day , but not to be upfront about it is not acceptable. And if you are not serving the whole dish , charging the full price doesn’t make sense either. In the end their greed left a bad taste.
Best food truck in Midtown. They’re falafel is DELICIOUS! The customer service is oustanding. Very charismatic couple, always respectful and nice. They have your food ready in less than 5 mins, even when there’s a line. I love coming here for lunch during work. Thank you!
I got the lamb and chicken... Im rounding up to 4 stars because the guy was really nice, and I hate to write bad reviews...but I dont think this is anything special. If you have your mind set on a white sauce + meat + rice dish, yes sure come here. But a 5 star food cart is still a food cart, youd be an idiot to expect haut cuisine. (im speaking to myself)

2022-08-26Tried almost all of the carts around the Times Sq. area and this is easily the best. Chicken and rice (see pic) is super tasty, flavorful chicken, veg perfectly cooked retaining a little crunch, and hot sauce has the right about of flavor as well as heat. Cart workers are friendly and courteous. Highly recommend Royal Grill.

2021-06-17My wife and I loved this place. They combined chicken tikka, biryani & a salad bowl into a single dish. This screams NYC in the best way possible.I want this for all my lunches.

2022-06-21I grew up in Queens and had halal at least once a week. Came back to visit and stumbled upon this gem. The way that the meat is marinated has set the bar so high for other trucks.

2022-09-16I come to this place often for lunch and dinner - it never disappoints. Their halal food is flavorful and unique compared to all other halal options I’ve had in the city. Much better quality than all competitors. Can’t get enough!

2022-09-10I was recommended to check out this spot in midtown and I’m glad I did . Something about this food cart is simply amazing and just unique . The food is very flavorful, the meat is tender and juicy, the guys are very friendly and welcoming and for the price of the food and the potion you get is just outstanding, I definitely enjoyed the meal and I’ll definitely go back to try more things on their menu. I give it 8/10
