Very disappointed! Came here with my wife for Valentines dinner, made reservations ahead on line. And after being seated, found out from the menus we were given, that there was only one choice for the evening. The choice was $70.00 per person. The regular menu was not available. There was no indication on the web site when making the reservation that this was going to be the case. After confirming this with our waiter that we had only one option for the evening, we informed him we wouldnt be staying. He was very polite, apologetic, kind, and understaning. From his reaction, we were not the only people disappointed with single $70 per person menu. We then upon leaving voiced our displeasure to the hostest. Again, very kind and understanding. We explained there was nothing on the web site about it when making the reservation. At that point we were told yes we tried calling people to let them know. So that tells me they must of had push back from people earlier, unfortunately we did not get a warning call. Apparently this $70 Valentine special was going on Sat. Sun. & Mon. and it was a flop from the customers and employees point of view. This was purely just a money grab. I calculated had we stayed, the bill would have been $200 plus. 2 dinners @ $70 = $140. Add a few adult drinks and tip, now $200 easy. Now I am not opposed to spending money for a nice evening out. I just dont like being cornered into a unexpected and unwanted choice. And being taken advantage of because its Valentines. Upon leaving the Roycroft, I called Ricks on Main to possible salvage the evening. They welcomed us without a reservation, our meals were awesome. The experience was superb. They had their regular menu and the specials as well. The money we spent was well worth it. Big shout out to Ricks on Main for making our Valentines day Great! As for you Roycroft, did you really gain anything with the Money grab tactics??? This was a huge turn off. Probably wont be coming back. As Im sure other parties were turned off as well.
Do not stay here if you have any sort of dust allergy or sensitivity. My husband, my two daughters and I are still trying to recover from our one night stay there. Also worth mentioning is though it is an old building, for 220 for a single night, the hot water situation was tricky. Either slightly lukewarm or absolutely scalding. Trying to bathe our kids and having the hot water randomly go up in temperature was stressful and overall we would have faired better at a cheap motel for the night honestly.
Im not opposed to spending money on a nice meal, but transferring regular menu items to a compulsory 3 course $70 per plate menu without clear communication is shocking. I consider myself a lenient person, but this was quite off-putting to say the least. I will not be back.
Atmosphere is amazing... Food was good, I had the salmon which was excellent but the slaw it came with was drowning in the ginger miso sauce. My friend got the chicken and raved and raved! It looked delicious too. Our server was busy but it took awhile after we sat to take our drink orders. Awhile being at least 10-15 minutes Would certainly go again but maybe at a less busy time.
Roycroft never disappoints! Enjoyed a lovely dinner with a group of 5. The Burrata salad was a perfect start for a summer evening dinner on the patio - it was light and refreshing on this sunny day. The Pork Chop was hearty and excellently seasoned, while the whipped potatoes and candied bacon jam rounded out the dish perfectly. Many gluten free options and knowledgeable servers. Highly recommend coming here for any meal, make sure you step in to look around the eccentric and historic interior of the inn!
Beautiful brunch although the coffee was pretty bad. Maybe because we had a late reservation. Next time I would try for an earlier time. There were plenty of choices. My mother uses a walker. There were stairs every where. She could do that. However Im not sure if there were any handicapped accessible points. Also, be aware on Sundays the Roycroft Campus buildings are closed.
It was my first time at Roycroft Inn. When I walked in the staff greeted me with a smile and compliments. The staff was excellent the food was so delicious I wanted to take the Chef home. I am definitely coming back with the hubby. I was there for a rehearsal dinner. I wish this establishment more continued success.
It is everything good people have said about it. Despite the shortage of staff that Ive run into in almost every hotel, for weeks traveling, the staff was gracious and professional de spite the evident workload. Check-in was efficient and Jared gave us a tour of the dining areas and helped with our reservation. The room was clean and every bit craftsman as expected. Roomy and comfortable. Will be back here again later for a longer stay. Easy to drive or walk the half mile to the main shopping areas. Our this on your must see/dolist.
My husband and I were staying here because our dog was very sick and in the hospital at Orchard Park Vet (we’re from Rochester). This place was just what we needed after long and emotionally exhausting days. The staff were so incredibly caring and did everything they could to make us comfortable. We will absolutely be staying here again—and hopefully under more positive circumstances!
Have been dining at the Roycroft x many years at many different times & have always come away very satisfied. We just celebrated our Anniversary there and enjoyed an amazing dinner and the service was excellent. I love the look & feel of this amazing building . Thankyou all at the the Inn for maintaining good food & service thru this very difficult time of a restricted Co-Vid environment! Loved the entertainment after our dinner. We will make the Roycroft Inn our Anniversary tradition. ..Thanks again to all the wonderful management & staff for making sure their customers are not let down!....also great /Clean restrooms!!
Great restaurant, and an exceptional place to enjoy a holiday meal. Service is always top-notch, the building itself is beautiful, and the food fantastic.Do yourself a favor and check out the shops across the street. The Roycroft gift store is amazing. Beautiful items made by local craftspeople. A truly impressive variety of wares. There is also very nice antique shop, as well as a coppersmith. Really a great destination, and an excellent place to make some memories.
Very unique place. Stayed just one night. Didnt like the small bed or the fact they wanted to charge an extra$10.00 per night for a mini fridge. I personally though that was completely not necessary for what the room cost. But that a side it is nicely located to do both ends of town easily.
I was very disappointed with it. Although the food was very good, 2.5 hours from sit-down to leaving was a bit long. Almost 45 min between appetizer and salad. The service was extremely slow, had to ask way to often for more drinks. The menu is also very very limited.
The restaurant at 40 S Grove St. doesnt come up as its own location so I have to review here. The decor and historic building are stunningly beautiful and we had high hopes for the dinner menu. Unfortunately, the food was not as good as the price tag suggested it would be. Burrata salad was small and lackluster, risotto was just rice and cream with no flavor, and soda fountain drinks were mostly water. It was a shame because the surroundings are so beautiful!
Let me just say wow. We came from rochester just to check this place out and it didnt dissapoint at all. The bread starter was out of this world and the French onion soup was on point. I ordered the full rack of lamb and it came so juicy and cooked perfect. The bitter greens and maple sweet pototes were magical. As a cook myself Im very hard to please when eating out and this place was worth the visit. Will be back again for sure
We enjoyed our anniversary lunch on the spacious Roycroft Inn veranda. The service was excellent. They kept our water glasses filled throughout the lunch. We were also treated to cheddar biscuits while we waited for our lunch to arrive. Our order included french onion soup with a Brandi broth, a Cobb salad, and a Ceasar salad. It was very relaxing and tasty.
The food was meh. We had a big party and all of us ordered something different. No one was really impressed with any of it besides the steak. The food is wayyyy overpriced for what you get. The service was pretty good though. I wouldnt come back just because the menu didnt have many options and the food was meh. I was so excited too because everyone raves about it. I was fooled. We paid over $300 for food and no one even got alcohol. Its ridiculous.
We just finished a delicious New Years Eve dinner. Believe the hype! This is a quality restaurant. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for. As busy as it was our server (Sue) was fantastic. Service was spot on and we never felt rushed. My scallops and risotto was perfect and my wifes filet was cooked to perfection. Try a 3Kings cocktail. Very nice. Great job Roycroft Inn!
Excellent service in a relaxing environment. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal sitting alongside the fireplace in the beautiful room behind the lounge area. It was comfy and easy to carry on a conversation. The food was delicious too. The beef kabob special was very tender and tasty .I highly recommend it.
We had a wonderful experience here. The food was amazing and the service was top notch. We also enjoyed the best crab cakes we have ever had. Great menu. Many different dining room environments. The building itself is gorgeous. They were friendly to my teen age boys and there was food choices to please all. Their sliver deserts are a great idea.
Disappointed with Roycroft which is known to be an outstanding restaurant. Our party of six was seated at a table near double swinging doors to a butlers room and my seat was backed up to a cold a/c vent. The halibut I had was dry and just warm and partners beef filet was not medium well done instead medium rare and warm too. Pricy for quality and quantity. Staff and waitress were friendly.
I was very very pleased and in awe of this beautifully built old establishment. That is obviously been maintained very well over the years. The service was fantastic, the rooms were clean and the overall atmosphere was fantastic!!Thank you for giving us a great 10 year Anniversary experience...
The food was excellent! And the Ambiance was incredible this place is warm and cozy we sat by the fireplace. The whole campece is full of history and interesting things to see theres also an antique shop and artisan sculptures and Beautiful Artwork to purchase .We had an wonderful experience!
Wonderful food and service. However the band took over at 7pm. The sound throughout the restaurant was deafening. You could not carry on a conversation.i felt like I was at the old ground round instead of time dining. We wait all week for a quiet dinner together and get a fast food atmosphere at a fine inn
I came here for dinner for my boyfriends birthday. We had a wonderful time! The locale is beautiful, and there are a lot of sites to see in the area. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the servers are professional and helpful. The menu has a lot of options, and all of the meals are finely made. The prices are somewhat expensive, but it is well worth the price for an occasional visit. For the 4 of us it was about $135 with tip. The only problem were the large amount of flies that landed on our food. If it werent for the flies our meal would have been perfect. I am sure we could have requested to eat inside however and they would have been more than accommodating.
My husband and I went here for Sunday brunch with 2 other couples last Sunday. Everything was excellent; the food, service, the restaurant itself. It was all amazing; we are hoping to go back this Sunday. The buffet was delicious, the drinks were great, and the service was impeccable. Every one was so polite and efficient.
The Inn is great! What charm, and history! The suites are just so quaint! Great gift shop!Food was unfortunately a true disappointment. Espresso drinks were cold, desserts rich but without flavor or texture. Meats were rather inexpensive for a brunch this price, but skillfully prepared....still wholly lacking seasoning. I know their brunch used to be great, but they need to step it up a notch. Service was good.
This is a fantastic restaurant! The staff have always been very friendly and polite. I made reservations for a larger party for a Sunday brunch and the table was set and ready to go right on time! The food is also amazing! For brunch they have a wide selection of food as well as a omelet station and a pancake station. They also have a huge desert table with amazing deserts. I believe it was $30 a person for brunch which also included a drink. Well worth the stop!
I live a block away, so I havent stayed here. Friends and family from out of town often have when visiting us, though. We also love the Roycroft for a nice dinner, the bar and small plates, or Sunday brunch. The dining rooms are all nice, the menu changes seasonally, and the ambiance is so east aurora. The art, architecture, decor, and historical photos are all part of the village history, super unique and recognizable. Most people know the arts and crafts style and the Roycroft font, well heres where it started.
This is the third visit to the Roycroft Inn with family and friends for their Christmas Brunch. The food display, quality and variety will have you wanting to stop at every station. The staff at the Roycroft seems determined to insure that you do sample the quality food at each station for no sooner do you empty one plate and a new one is placed in front of you to start your mouth watering trip to the serving stations again. This restaurant has it all together food, customer service and ambiance. Their weekly brunch offers an opportunity to savor this great food and location other than just at their Christmas brunch.
This was our first experience at their Sunday brunch. This is the finest example of what a brunch should be! The food was amazing! The service was exceptional! Our server Rita Gerard was so warm and inviting that she made the experience perfect. Keep up the great work!!!
We normally love the place, but today not so much. We wanted 15 minutes for our drinks thank god they gave us water. The poor waitress was running all over the place.we ordered our food that took 30 minutes I ordered the turkey panini sandwich well it wasent warm the cheese wasent melted 2 thin slices of apples and very little cranberry mayo 3 thin slices of turkey. Very disappointed.
5 stars for the rooms! They are spacious, cozy, and the whirlpool tubs are a real treat. The service is also impeccable and the front desk is always friendly. The food, however, is overpriced for the quality. It is delicious, but in my opinion not worth the price tag.
The experience here is always fantastic. This place is a very much so upscale dining atmosphere but I came here last to attend a wedding reception and I wasn’t let down. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for this type of environment in fine dining.
Lovely historic Inn! The interior is classically decorated with vintage furniture and many pieces of history from its magazine printing origins before the Inn was added. Rooms were spacious and orderly. Took off one star because the beds were a bit squeaky and uncomfortable but not a deal breaker. Restaurant downstairs has delicious and affordable lunch/dinner and occasional breakfast buffet. The continental breakfast included was pretty good! Staff were friendly and accommodating throughout. Would recommend if youre in town!
The ambiance is great and the building is very interesting, but that is the best of the Roycroft. My wife and I celebrated our anniversary this past week and our meal, the most important part of the experience, was very ordinary. It wasnt bad, but we werent impressed in the least. They charge fine dining prices, which I dont mind paying for special occasions, but the food was uninspired. Although we have been to the Roycroft many times, I dont recall ever saying at the end of the meal, Wow, that was great! I havent had a bad meal there, but nothing that will bring us back again. We might return for drinks and appetizers in the lounge where live music is, but definitely not for dinner.
Attended a shower at the Inn. We had a sit down luncheon which was wonderful. The food here is excellent. The wait staff was wonderful. They were so polite and saw to our every request. The Inn is filled with history and crafts made by several local Craftsmen. Many shops to tour through. We are going back to shop and tour the Roycroft Inn.
Always a great experience. Food, service and atmosphere all top notch. One of my favorite places to visit for dinner, food pairings, brunch, music in the craftsman lounge, special events or even just a burger like tonight. Chef Andrew is amazing and could make an old shoe taste good. Good food from good people. Love it there.
My husband and I ate here for Valentines day. The staff was excellent, very attentive and gave good recommendations for drinks and dessert. I had the french onion soup (very good but not my favorite), the daily fish special and the chocolate flourless cake. The soup and cake were good but the fish in my entree was overcooked and bland. I ended up not eating most of it. The vegetables and rice were very simple and didnt take the dish anywhere special. I would not get that again. My husband ordered the daily crepe and it was ok but nothing to brag about. We probably wont go again for lunch.
Service is good and the food is fine. Overall, fine. Great bathroom; very good. This is a good place if you need to go somewhere more upscale and cant get reservations at a restaurant with really high quality food, but still want to feel upscale. The iPhone SE of restaurants.
Lovely atmosphere, but the service the evening I was there with a small party of 4 left a lot to be desired. We waited at least 10 minutes before we were greeted by the server. The waitress was ok, but not overly helpful or friendly. Our food never arrived until 8:00 (we had a 6:30 reservation). My lobster was fine, but I never received a seafood fork, which made it difficult to eat. My companion ordered a chicken dish & the chicken was dry. For the price of the meals, I would expect better service & excellent food.
Update: After not having a great experience at the Sunday brunch. The manager reached out to me, and asked me about my experience. After giving my feedback, I was invited back. We went back and had a great experience, the staff was more attentive, and the food was really good. I will definitely come back.
After researching a number of sites we chose the Roycroft for a very special birthday dinner party in our family. Well worth the little bit of a drive for those coming from the northtowns. Everything was perfect!!! The food was outstanding, the setting & atmosphere the best, the staff so pleasant. Our server Mark was top notch!!!!!! Worked with David in planning and he made everything so easy . With David in the planning and Mark serving us on the day we couldnt have been in better hands! I highly recommend the Inn !
Roycroft Inn is one of my favorite places to go to. I love the historical richness this place offers. I have never been to the Roycroft and been disappointed. Yesterday was my birthday and the Roycroft gave me a wonderful dinner, great service and a fond memory for me to cherish for years to come! Thank you to my family and friends who were there to help celebrate my special day! Love to all!
I only went there for brunch but it was amazing definitely would recommend it. Hope to be back soon the brunch was outstanding. The only person I would not recommend it for is if you have trouble getting around Its far to walk to the buffet at least from where we were and there were seats much further away with steps also to navigate. Thats not a negative to the restaurant just a tip for anyone going with elderly family members.
This review is based on restaurant week April 2019. The Roycroft Inn is a unique building with alot of character. This is a multifunctional place that offers a banquet hall (to host weddings, etc) an attached hotel and finally a restaurant. The atmosphere is cozy with wood trim and natural light coming in from the many windows surrounding you.The dinner was very good, I have read a few mixed reviews regarding the flavors of the food. However, there was no issues at all with the service or our dinner. Both my wife and I dinners came with a choice of Caeser salad or veggie soup. We opted for the salad and it was a good choice, its always a win when your salad has the right amount of dressing. My wife ordered the salmon, which came with mixed rice and vegetables. She enjoyed every bit of it, especially the orange ginger sauce that was drizzled over the salmon. I ordered the short beef ribs, that came with mash potatoes and mixed vegetables. The meat was very tender and the mash potatoes along with the veggies were very good. For dessert we shared the mixed berry cheesecake and the dark chocolate truffle cake. Both desserts was a pleasant surprise. We both agreed this is a very good place to enjoy and we plan to come back soon
I stayed overnight for wedding on August 17. I made a last minute reservation; and, there was only one room left, 102. The room itself was lovely, with several exceptions. There was a hallway light that shined brightly, into the sitting room, which was adjacent to the bedroom. All night long, I think it was the AC unit, that kept going on and off making horrendous sounds. Then early in the morning around 6:00 am, all I could hear was the kitchen staff making loud noises. Not a restful night, at all, for the price of $199.
The room was comfortable and spacious. I would recommend asking for a third floor room though. We were on the second floor and the floor above us was very noisy. The floors were creaking with every step and didnt stop well into the night. We went down for breakfast Sunday morning and they werent serving until 10:00. They only have a $30.00 per person brunch....no individual breakfast at all. We went elsewhere. They should have stated that when we checked in.
As a huge lover of the Arts and Crafts movement, this was a joy to behold. The room was a monument to art of the mission period. A bygone era is lovingly brought to life in the rooms with the furnishings and the wonderful mural throughout the hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on the Roycroft campus. The room was very comfortable and we will come back.
Truly a gem of a hotel for those interested in early 20th century history and art. Galleries to visit, lots of amazing art and artists to meet with for a very memorable experience. The rooms are absolutely spectacular, staff exceptionally friendly, fantastic restaurant and an easy walk to downtown Aurora with boutiques and some small town charm. We will most certainly be returning again.
Visited the Roycroft Inn in the fall when all the trees were turning colors, and the inn blended in with the outside environment perfectly. Inside, all of the Arts and Crafts furnishings and room designs are really beautiful. Would have really liked to spend a night there and eat at the restaurant as it all looked really inviting.
Absolutely charming inside and out. Beautiful long veranda, surrounded by nature. Friendly, helpful staff are around when you need them yet dont hover. Variety on menu, everything delicious. Overnight stay available, info about surrounding area and events easily accessible.
Eh. The food was on the expensive side and service was decently slow. The food was good and the server was very nice. But it took a long long time for our meal. We were seated by 630 and finished at 9. Thats a bit too long. Drinks also took a while after they were ordered.
We went to Roycroft for Sunday brunch. Their buffet is lovely and had plenty to please everyone in our large party of 10. R oycroft has become our restaurant of choice for brunch in recent years because it is spacious, the staff is professional and pleasant, and the food doesnt disappoint.
Many times weve been here, each time has been terrific. Beautiful, quaint, roomy, well built, as tested by time, and the staff are always gracious. The only draw back is if one is guesting with a light sleeper, the floors are really creaky... This could be a benifit if ninjas are trying to kill you in your slumber, and you happen to be a light sleeper also.
Went to the Roycroft Inn for lunch. It was a lovely trip down memory lane for my daughter and I. The food and the service were every bit as wonderful as we remember them being when we lived in Buffalo 8 years ago. I wish we could have stayed the night in the inn. The rooms are so unique and charming.
My friend won brunch for two while attending the Caribbean Nite with CKSO (MaRvElOuS music and food!!!). Arrived 12:15, promptly seated and drink orders were taken. We both tried aPointsetia; cranberry juice and champagne, - Yum! The food was plentiful and fabulous. lots to choose from, both healthy and guilty pleasures. Our host, Barbara was warm and attentive. The atmosphere - as always - beautiful.
We held our company Christmas party at the Inn this past weekend and reserved the upstairs room for our group. From the event staff that set up our reservation to our wait staff, everything went as planned. Our meals were great and not one complaint about anything. Well done Roycroft Inn!
They got our reservation wrong and wouldnt compensate for it, basically shrugged thier shoulders and told us take it or leave it and dont expect a discount or anything else... Bed was horrible, they have better mattresses at a no tell motel. Also I dont know what they wash the linens in, but my husband started to break out in the middle of the night in head to toe hives. When I explained it to the front desk, they said we should have called ahead if anyone had sensitive skin! Why? Shouldnt all linen be washed as if people have sensitivities? Ridiculous... We left in the middle of the night because of this... Still refused to compensate us in ANY WAY! Its really too bad because they hotel is beautiful and nostalgic.... For 150 a night you think that they would make sure all guest were comfortable and accommodated and would hire staff that cared more about customers..Never again... The one reason it has one star is because zero is not and option...
Didnt stay but was forced to eat a second time. Food was even worse than the first time. I ordered chicken parmigiana which was burned black on the bottom. Coming to the area again this week. I hope like mad I can avoid a third trip. Aside from the food, the place is gloomy.
We enjoyed our evening at the Inn attending Carribean Night at the restaurant which featured a steel drum band and many different types of food at various stations. The cost of $25 at the door was reasonable and the atmosphere was great. The Roycroft Inn is an old historic building nestled in the scenic small village of East Aurora located just south of Buffalo, NY. We have visited several times and the food has always been good.
A gem for enthusiasts of the Arts & Crafts Movement. Each year I visit, the Roycroft Campus and Inn are improved. Sure, there are some disappointments. With upgrades needed there are some buildings closed but thats the price to pay for good restoration work for the future generations. The vibe gets better each year.
I attended a wedding reception here in September of 2012. The facilities were beautiful and the staff was polite and attentive. The Inn catered the appetizers and I was able to sample the stuffed mushrooms, crab, and bruschetta. Everything was pretty delicious. The main course consisted of salmon along with a caesar salad which was also quite good. The open bar was a nice touch and the bartender was friendly and courteous. I would highly recommend choosing the Roycroft for either dinner or a larger reception.
The Bourbon Tasting Event last night was stupendous! We learned a lot about bourbon and the wait staff did an exceptional job accommodating the myriad dietary restrictions our group of 6 had. Thank you so much for your continuing attention to detail & we look forward to your next tasting event!
The Roycroft is amazing! Its got a great past. During the Industrial Revolution, Elbert Hubbard was trying to fall back on old values, such as custom-made is better than factory-made. The buildings are very cool, and the hotel restaurant has great service. If you are ever in East Aurora, you should definitely visit the Roycroft!
Came here to watch a local band play. It wasnt my cup of tea musicwise but I appreciated the unique environment that is the Roycroft. Drinks were ok, bar staff friendly enough and it gave you a sense of the traditional East Aurora feel you get from many of the places in town. A little crowded and a small bar to stand at but they had full service wait staff who were eager to top up your drinks through the night.
The Inn is quaint, has very good food but does not care for their guests. Rooms are noisy from the age of the hotel. Also being a supposedly a fine hotel the service is very careless of guests needs. We had a rehearsal dinner there that went fine and then housed the entire wedding party and numerous guests for the wedding that was held at another nearby location the next day. Flowers were delivered to the Roycroft for the wedding party members who were preparing at the Roycroft clearly marked for our wedding. The Roycroft did nothing to deliver them and even after the wedding we never had the flowers so they allowed them to be discarded or walked off with. It was enormously bad service and very disappointing not having flowers for the wedding.
Always a great meal at the Roycroft Inn. We started out with Oysters Rockefeller. They were excellent. Nice rich oysters with spinach , a light cream sauce with a bacon essence sprinkled with panko and lightly browned. I had the salmon special with currants and balsamic glaze. It was dressed with a light spring salad with goat cheese and a couscous(I think) side dish. My husband had a sword fish steak with shrimp and lobster ceviche. Our compliments to the chef!!! For dessert we had to have the creme brulle with blueberries and whipped cream. One of the best Ive had. Not too sweet...just right.
The Roycroft Inn is an entire dining experience. The artisinal design of the building, detailed decor and furninshings even down to the gorgeous sliverware it feels purposeful and elegant. The food suits the scene as the chefs clearly also cook with intention and art in mind. Well done! An excellent place to celebrate an occasion or have a quiet date night
If you are in the western New York area you would be hard pressed to find a better setting for an intimate dinner or large event. The staff are absolutely wonderful. The century old architecture and RoyCroft master craftsman built furniture bring you back to a time when people took immense pride in there craft. Not to mention some of the best food I have ever had the pleasure of consuming.
A hidden gem where the U.S. Arts and Craft movement started by Hubbard. Decor of that period has been, thankfully, preserved. Inn rooms are amazing - HUGE - and also retaining old decor. I find myself studying the phenomenal furniture and building architecture in both the sleeping quarters and the Inns reception and restaurant. There is a campus with other buildings of same vintage (and shops and museum) celebrating that movement. So sad Hubbard died so young on the Lisatania. His movement would have expanded greatly by his energy had that visionary lived to a more elderly age. I always stop there in my travels through that region for the pleasure and motivational experience. You should as well!
Although we did not have reservations, they did seat us. The waitress was obviously upset when we asked for separate checks at the beginning. She took our drink order and came back about 10 minutes later, then left. Came back about 15 minutes later and took our lunch order. She brought my French onion soup. The bread on it was like rubber but since she didnt check back with us I had to tell the bus boy. Then she brought our meals and my meal was cold as was one other. The other 3 meals were OK but nothing more. When we asked for our bills she replied that it was going to take longer because she had to separate them. Once we finally paid, my bill was paid with cash but I didnt get any change. I went looking for the person who was cashing us out and explained my concerns. She asked if we had reservations and I said no. She said to come back another time but to be sure to make reservations. I was not happy.
We went to the Roycroft as we have been for the past 3 year for mothers day, this year was not the best. The service was less than good, I should not have to beg for a coffee or water refill and ask to have our plates removed as we come back to our table with seconds. To charge $38.00 for an adult and have ok food and terrible service is not what we expected. We paid $19.00 each for a 4 and 6 year old who had a piece of frenchtoast some fruit and a cupcake. Looking elsewhere for next year.
Stayed in the guest house. Meager room for the price. Room tiny although clean and comfortable. The heater was so loud when it turned on sounded like a jet engine! No coffee maker in room. Floors above creaked like crazy and you could basically hear every sound in the house. There was a public bathroom next to our room...whats up with that???. No breakfast included. Thanks anyway, will stick with Russells!

2022-02-15I posted earlier today and was not positive of not being told of the special valentine’s Day menu. So to be fair this is my second review. We arrived and we were seated immediately in the Library at a very nice table. Are server was outstanding and all of are food from the appetizer to the entree and desserts were prepared just as ordered. The meal was outstanding and we could not asked for a better evening.

2022-02-13Food went downhill years ago when the talented sous Chef who wrote all the specials moved away. Now that hes gone the pride is gone from the food and I see others have the same opinion. Questionable and some downright disgusting combinations on the specials menu last visit, like someone slapped a bunch of ingredients they thought sounded fancy together and said good enough. This place used to be elegant and a romantic place to bring a date, and you could depend on tasty food. Now its confusing, you can order a $10 burger at the bar or a $18 appetizer in the dining area. Is this fine dining or Applebees? Food was not good last visit and we were very disappointed for the money we spent. I think the Chef in charge needs some training and education on what fine dining is, he seems to lack in those areas. The management needs to decide what kind of restaurant this is so personal expectations are adjusted accordingly.Response to Dan:The lazy head chef has been there for 18 years, anyone who knows food and the restaurant industry knows that the sous chef is usually the one with the talent, as in this case. I think the trustees need to visit and observe way more often than they do. You are running this historic place into the ground.

2021-12-31The inn is beautiful and full of history everywhere you look. Our room was very comfortable and well appointed and the furniture in all spaces is wonderfully crafted. We dined in the restaurant and we’re not disappointed. The salad was fresh, the entrees (chicken and filet) subtly but deliciously seasoned and dessert was sweet. We enjoyed our stay very much.

2022-06-28Very pleased with our visit. We came for Fathers day brunch. Emma our waitress was absolutely awesome. She was friendly and accommodating. Plenty of choices to choose from. The tomatoe soup was delicious..a little cold but still very good. My omelet was very good and no complaints about my other choices. Too many to list. These just stood out. 2022-06-19We will be back. Brunch was outstanding. The choices were plentiful and there was a good variety to choose from. Everything that I tried was not very good and seemed to be made that day. Nothing tasted old or reheated. The fresh vegetables and fruits were so refreshing. I ate way too much and Im not sorry 😃

2022-02-12I made reservations on the phone for my wife and myself for Valentines weekend. The girl on the phone said we might be interested in a $70 per person deal for an appetizer, entree, and dessert. To my dismay, when we came in, we were only given a menu where we HAD to get 3 courses for $70 no matter what. We asked for just the entree and were told it would be the same price: $70. I said couldnt even eat the appetizer or dessert due to a dairy allergy (there were no other non-dairy options) and they said they could pack it up for someone else. Wow. I considered walking out right there and I will definitely not be back.

2022-06-22We have been wanting to go to this place for awhile. We are arts and crafts movement people and love the atmosphere of this place. Our room was comfortable and oh so roomy. Dinner was great and our server (Barb) was wonderful! We recommend you try this place.

2022-03-13The room was perfect. Clean, and fresh. They even thought to put the TV remote in plastic for sanitary purposes. Food for dinner and brunch was magnificent. Every staff member was friendly and made you feel like you were family.

2022-03-30Update: After not having a great experience at the Sunday brunch. The manager reached out to me, and asked me about my experience. After giving my feedback, I was invited back. We went back and had a great experience, the staff was more attentive, and the food was really good. I will definitely come back.

2022-05-01Lovely piece of history, architecture is wonderful. Restaurant always has a great menu and very competent staff. Had the porcini mushroom sherry bisque, and loved every spoonful. Menu has gluten-free and vegan items, and was told they can do other items GF if the restaurant is called 24 hours ahead. Well worth the visit!
