I was passing through town and had an emergency, Brett at Ruge’s called me back promptly, set up an appointment for the next day and they fixed my car so I could get back on the road within half a day. They were courteous, professional and did an amazing job for me, I am so grateful!
Let me tell you, not only did Ruges service department do a great job on my breaks. They have phenomenal costumer service and truly go the extra mile. Yesterday I attended Ruges to get my breaks done before I headed on a cross country road trip in which I was towing a trailer at its full capacity, and the only day I could get an appointment before I left was 7:15 am Saturday. Ruges was about a half hour drive from where I was living, and they said my breaks would take about 3 hrs. Therefore I decided to walk and explore town. I came across a synagogue and I knew it was Shabbat. So went inside and was warmly welcomed by the community. Long story short, I got caught up in Shabbat activities and was not checking my phone (even though Ruges graciously called me twice to let me know my car was ready). I originally thought that Ruges closed at 5:00 pm on Saturdays but they actually close at 3:00pm. So when I walked back to Ruges at 3:20pm, I was shocked to see the store closed. This was worried me because I was leaving town on Monday and Ruges was closed on Sunday and Monday (because of memorial day). I was already so stressed the last few days before this i of packing and dealing with U-haul (Im driving back to Los Angeles from New Paltz after graduating from Ithaca College). I walked over to the Ruges Subaru sales department across the street and asked an employee if there was any way I could get my car from service. He said they do not have keys and the manager has no way to get in. I waited for a minutes before speaking to sales consultant, Jen Brandes. I explained my story to her and she understood I was in dire need of getting my car. Thankfully, she was able to pull a few strings and luckily her husband worked in the service department. She called her husband and he said he would drive down from his house to open the shop for me. I cannot be more thankful that they did this for me. Truly one of a kind costumer service!
While the people at Ruge’s are very friendly, I was disappointed by the way the very expensive repairs to my Outback were handled.I brought my car in for a shrieking noise that began the day after I brought the car in for other work. They told me the replacement of calipers (over $1,000) would fix the problem. I stressed when I called and when I dropped the car off that it only made the sound at speeds over 40 mph. On my way home from picking up my Outback, the same sound immediately recurred. When I called and asked if they’d road-tested it at over 40 mph, the same technician I’d spoken with previously said, “Oh, it only makes the sound over 40 miles per hour?”I never would have done the $1,000 repairs if I’d known they wouldn’t fix the problem I’d brought it in for, but Ruge’s didn’t offer any kind of refund or reduction even though I had to subsequently pay $3,400 to actually fix the problem.To add salt to the wound, when I asked about a trade-in for my 2010 Outback, sales said they’d only offer me $100 trade-in. When I brought back the loaner I had to drive for 2 weeks with the tank 11/12 full, they said I’d have to go fill it the rest of the way or be charged $8/gallon.The $4,400 in repairs were a shock and there was no grace or flexibility despite their initial misdiagnosis of the problem and the resulting $1,000 in repairs for an unrelated issue.
This is a super high-quality operation. They are extremely customer oriented and work hard to do the very best job in every aspect of their service. Great waiting room, easy access to drop off your car, great communication during your service, and a concerned staff.Just had additional service and this is a great dealership with continued an outstanding service department!
Ruge Subaru offers excellent quality, value and service. My tire light was on and they got me in the next day. They saved me another visit by doing the routine maintenance at the sam time. They are very pleasant to deal with and offer great service and value. Highly recommend!
This dealership has very solid professional ethics. I booked in the morning an appointment for 1pm. When I got there, another couple was getting out of the car from test drive. So we both wanted the car.The manager called his CEO and they decided to give the car to the guys who test drove and committed first.But then they offered me a better car for exact same price; it was a really great deal, better than original car.I never expected it. This is what marks an outstanding culture and professionalism.So, yes, if I have to buy another Subaru I will do it here.
I brought my car in for an oil change, NYS Inspection and sensor recalibration because the windshield was replaced earlier this year by my insurance company’s contractor when a rock flew up and cracked it. Because the recalibration & test driving took some time, I was given a free loaner car for the day. Also, my service person identified that my tires needed to be rotated to ensure that they stayed under warranty. I was notified by text message by my service manager once the service started so that I could communicate as needed. I was then notified when my car was ready for pick up. The car loaner manager and service manager worked together so that I only had to input information once and my time was respected. I had an excellent customer experience, today, as I have had, previously. I am a repeat car buyer at Ruge’s because they consider both the purchase and service experiences to be equally important.
I would recommend anyone looking to buy a Subaru to go to Ruge’s! They are very professional and informative. Working with Jordan was an absolute pleasure! He was very knowledgeable and answered all questions I had, he even help me find the best style car to fit my needs.
I just cannot imagine going anywhere else to service my vehicle. From buying new tires, to oil changes, to annual inspections, my experience at Ruges that of a dying breed-- a family business whose family that has been front and center for decades. They are a caring and kind member of the community and it reflects in everything they do. The employees are pleasant and professional, courteous and expeditious. I could go on and on about the positive qualities of this Rhinebeck business. I am always very satisfied after visiting Ruges.
I live on the other side of the river so always went local for service. Wrong! I needed a new engine block and Subaru of America said theyd pay for it, and recommended Ruges. From the second I got there I was having a 5 star experience. Everyone, from scheduling to service was smiling, cheerful and seemed genuinely happy to help. They put me in a great loaner and I felt so cared for. Got my car back, it was washed and they had pulled it around and started it so it would be warm. Its the little things, not to mention big things like a stellar new engine with warranty! Needless to say Im now a convert. I asked, and their prices for regular maintenance are on par with the independents. Why go anywhere else! I will only go there from now on. Extra tip...Subaru will cover a lot on warranty and sometimes even off if you service at a Subaru dealer. In the big picture you will come out ahead.
The staff here is always very friendly!! I dropped my Subaru off for an oil change, inspection and tire rotation. I went into town to pass the time…before I knew it, my car service was complete! Check in and check out is quick and easy. Ruge’s service department always does a nice job with my vehicles!
I took my car to Ruge’s in August to have my heat shield fixed. While I was there, I needed a wheel bearing replaced. The next day when I was backing up, there was a squeaking from my car. I was unable to take it on a long trip because I wasn’t sure what the issue was. The squeaking resolved after my car sat for a bit fortunately. Fast forward two months, and the heat shield broke again, and the squeaking started back up. I brought my car back in and everything was fixed again, and I was not charged. I was given a loaner car to be able to get everywhere I needed to while it was fixed, and picked my car up the same day.
Traded in my Range Rover for a 2018 Forester. My sales associate was Jen Brandes and she was terrific! Professional, understood my needs as a senior and endlessly patient! I test drove 4 models and Jen explained the pros and cons of each. So happy to use my home town dealer. I recommend them unconditionally.
I cannot thank Ruge’s Subaru in Rhinebeck enough for their outstanding service and hospitality. I’m a Registered Nurse who drives 400 miles a week for work, so it’s important I keep my 2015 Forester in top shape. From the minute I walked in, to the minute I left, Brett and the rest of the team were nothing but nice, patient, and helpful. Brett took the time to explain to me what I needed, and even went out of his way to make sure the things I needed were covered on my warranty. I am so happy I found the Subaru place I will be going to for all things needed. It’s so important to have a place you can rely on to take care of your car. Went in for an oil change and for a diagnosis of a noise which was determined to be a wheel bearing although they never told me this is what they found until 2 1/2hrs in when I had to find my analyst to ask. This was decided not to be addressed this appointment, that was all fine, but then it took another 2 hrs for them to complete an oil change. Im not sure what was happening with my car during the 4hrs+ that they had it for, they didnt update me even though I mentioned I needed to leave within a 3hr time window. Ive used RUGES for service over the past 5 years and was always pleased but this experience dissuaded me from using them in the future.
I arrived for my 8:30AM appointment for my first oil change, which included tire rotation and multipoint inspection. I was greeted very professionally and personally by one of the service advisors to begin the service process. I chose to wait at the dealership and in about 35 minutes I was back on the road. I was very pleased with my visit and the courtesy of the staff I interacted with. I also purchased parts for my other Subaru.
Just bought a used vehicle and the detailing done to ready it for pickup was spot on, car looked brand new. Also had engine concerns looked at, cross compaired to similar vehicles, and explained as normal operating characteristics with reassurance engine running in top order. Very happy with experience.
We purchased a car from Ruges. The salesman,Jordan, was by far the best salesman we have ever dealt with. He never rushed us, spent as much time as we needed to go over the options in the car and offered his help anytime once we left the showroom. Would recommend this dealer highly.
I have been bringing my car to Ruge’s Subaru Service Department for years. It took me a long time to find a great car shop that I trust to fix my car for a fair price. I really appreciate that they call me and explain issues they have found before repairing, and whether or not it’s work that needs to be done immediately. Everyone I have dealt with there has always been friendly and courteous, and I always leave feeling satisfied, and safe in my car.
I am concerned with Ruges cost estimate to replace the muffler system on my Impreza. It is several hundred dollars more than an estimate from local muffler shops. I must delve further to learn which muffler business will be chosen to replace my muffler based on quality and costs.
Having recently moved to the area we don’t have a regular mechanic. We knew of Ruge’s Subaru and when we called they were able to service the car today. The car was dropped off, serviced and we had the car back in about 1 hour. We were treated with courtesy, efficiency and professionalism. We would gladly recommend Ruge’s Subaru.
Can’t thank them enough. On vacation in Catskills, oil light goes on after getting it serviced at my home Subaru dealer. Took me in right away and figured out the issue, despite the heavy volume of cars being serviced. Also recommended the towing company.Professional, courteous and reassuring
This has been my second lease from Ruges Subaru, and until this recent experience I have found the sales staff to be lovely, but service staff are hit or miss. This experience was a big miss. I dropped of my 2019 Impreza which was having stalling issues. Since the cause was unknown, so was repair time, and I had to get a loaner. I had a pre-existing rear passenger side door scrape that I was hoping would be covered by an additional policy I purchased, but was informed it only covers dents. Okay. When I was signing the papers for the loaner I was repeatedly reminded of how there would be an up charge if I didnt return it with a full tank of gas. Okay, again. One thing I did reiterate was that I had to go into my NYC office on Wednesday/Thursday, so I wouldnt be able to get my car until Friday (if it was ready sooner). Wednesday I get a call letting me know the car is ready. I reiterate my Friday pickup and am told that 24 hours from notice there will be a $50 per day rental charge. What? I was very clear from the start that it was not possible to pick up my car prior to Friday. Its a Ruges lease on warranty...how about some customer service?Lauren got on the phone and in a very nasty manner reiterated their policy, but told me she would make an exception this time. Wait! It doesnt end at the attitude on the phone. I picked up my car today and when I retuned home discovered the driver side door mark was not bird poop, but a scratch...kind of like a circular blob of squiggles- what looks like keying! I called up and was patched through to Lauren again. When I told her what I found she very quickly shouted, are you accusing me of keying your car? Well I wasnt, but since you were so quick to defensively blurt that out, I would not rule out that possibility. She stood her ground telling me it was there to begin with and in fact my receipt (which she prepared) only documents a scratch there- no mention of the passenger side scratch I had inquired about. Error or intentional? I cant say for sure. Heres what I am sure of- I have only 16,000 miles on this car in almost 3 years, so its in pretty good shape, and being type A, I know what scratches were there or not. The driver side door scratch was not there prior to this visit to Ruges. This will be my last lease from Ruges- Good job, Lauren! Not!
Not happy. Had early apt. 7:00 , no technicians were present. Had an unnecessary wait period. Had a service Mgr. Jason hold my inspection over a crack in one tail light. I had a stripe of transparent tape over a crack from someone backing into my vehicle in a parking lot. I told him I was waiting to have it looked at by my insurance agent and that my tail light was fully operational!! He persisted on hold up my inspection. Hence, I was required to make an additional trip for a second inspection; costing me two hours from my work day and an additional sixty miles of unnecessary travel to have it inspected. Very disappointing. With this kind of customer consideration I am leaning towards finding a new Subaru dealer. Very upsetting because my sales experience was five star!!!!b (NYS inspection service)
Our experience at Ruge’s Subaru was awesome! Chris helped us out, he was great. He had our car all ready to test drive and was very knowledgeable and ready to help with any questions. He was able to get the car ready for me quickly, and I’m so happy with my first Subaru! Thanks to Chris and everyone working at Ruge’s!

I purchased a Certified Pre-Owned, 2019 Subaru Forrester. From the sales staff to the Finance staff everyone I worked with couldn’t have been more professional and helpful. I can’t give a greater compliment than to say that, when it’s time for this car to be replaced I shall come back to Ruge’s Subaru as the first, and quite possibly only, place I shall look.Thank you Austen, Christopher and Paul for making my car purchase a most pleasant experience.
I came in to Ruges on a busy Friday at 1:30 in the afternoon with a rattling noise coming from under my hood. I told Duane I was traveling 4 hours upstate the next day and was worried. He immediately said “ let me take it for a ride now and see what is going on”. He diagnosed the problem and took my car in, fixed the problem and I had it back by closing time. Where else can anyone get service like that?! I am so grateful for Ruges. They truly are a hometown business that wants to take the best care of their clients.
As great an experience as I could have had under the circumstances! My car broke down on the highway outside of Rhinecliff on a day that Ruge’s was actually not open. They answered the phone though and gave me clear, easy, and sympathetic directions for leaving the car there when the tow truck brought me. They looked at the car quickly once they were open and explained what was wrong and gave me two options for repair, one significantly cheaper than the other. I appreciated the honest answer to the question “which of these should I go with, really?” because it was the cheaper of the two. The car was ready quickly and when they told me it would be ready and everything is running perfectly, again. I hope to not break down outside of Rhinecliff again but if I do, I’ll be happy to know there’s a great repair shop there.
Friendly and professional service all around. Prices were pretty competitive and aligned with other authorized Subaru service centers. Loved how clean they kept their facility during the pandemic, and how they delivered my car in front of the entrance like a valet would.
My husband and I decided to buy a Subaru Forester. We went to another dealership closer to our house. They sold us a car and said we would get it in three days. Two weeks later we still did not have the car. So I went looking online to see if I could find one at another dealership and possible back out of our deal with the one we used. I found the car in the color that I prefer on Ruges website and as I was looking at it Jen popped up to see if I needed help. Long story short not only did she have a better car with more options in the colors I wanted but she gave me a better deal too! She was so friendly and professional too. They did most of the paperwork with me over the phone and I picked up the car the next day with no hassle at all! They definitely have loyal customers in my husband and me!
I dealt with Jordan in the sales department who went above and beyond anything I had expected to sell me my new Subaru! The fact that I was able to go into the dealership on Monday and drive my car off the lot by Wednesday is amazing! Jordan even fixed some sort marks that weren’t attended to by the detailed himself and made sure I understood every button on the new car. Will never buy from another dealer again unless it’s Jordan! Ordered a new car through this dealership and just picked it up. The whole process was very smooth and seamless and very quick for a new car lease. I highly recommend this dealership if you’re looking for a clean and professional location for a vehicle. The worst insulting experience i have ever had at Ruges, will make me rethink buying my third car there. We t for oil change and tire rotation and inspection. After 3 hours of waiting i che les in and they had mot even began service, then tried some bs explanation. To do that to any customer let alone a loyal one was insulting and wrong. Deeply upset as this cost me my days work that i had planned around
Yesterday and today Ruge’s was the silver lining to my terrible no good horrible day. Brakes on my 2014 Outback failed as I was heading from NJ to Berkshires. When AAA was delayed (and delayed and delayed) as I sat in the Martindale Diner parking lot , Jack helped me locate the nearest car rental and then stayed late on a Friday afternoon to receive the car. He told me candidly that they were busy and that he didn’t expect that the car would be looked at til late in the week; so how surprised was I to receive a text from Jason this morning that a no-show appointment made room for them to look at and repair my car! I am impressed by and grateful for their professional, prompt and compassionate attention — especially as a stranger in a new town — who had just experienced the worst automotive break down of my life, pedal to the floor and the car was still rolling. Bravo to Ruges!
Jordan at ruges was great from the moment I called looking for a wrx, to ordering one and then getting me one sooner than expected, all the way through the delivery process. Everything went smooth and nothing was pushed on me as far as decisions on the car. I would 100% go back and reccomended others to do so too!
Ruge’s makes it so easy to keep your car up to date. I had an appointment for my regular Subaru maintenance. They were ready, and the turnaround was fast and efficient. They consistently over deliver on courtesy, speed and quality of service and timing. I would highly recommend
I have a lot of experience with dealerships and service shops. I have got to say this shop took care of all my needs. Was efficient, professional and over all well priced. I dropped my car off and had it back before I knew it. They are always polite and their facility is showing great strides in operating under Covid guidelines. I can not express enough how grateful I am for their service!
Ruge’s Subaru service department is very pleasant and professional. I always wait for my vehicle and the service is performed in a timely manner. The waiting area is large and comfortable and I felt that I could be safely socially distanced from other customers. I lease my Subaru and I highly recommend this dealership.
Nice place, got a few things right after dropping the ball on a couple items, but its important to note that Ruges Subaru wants to get it right and they wound up dropping off a loaner- 30 minutes away, to rectify a couple of issues that didnt get addressed the first time in their service department. Further. I realized they compensated me for my troubles by NOT charging me for a service they forgot to initially perform.
Their mechanics always do a completely thorough jobThey actually found that my front brakes were installed at a different dealer upside down while they were working in a completely different job on my car.They called the other dealer and had the cost of fixing the problem all taken care of by the other dealer.Do they are also very responsible!
Ruge’s Subaru are a great, professional, honest bunch. I trust them completely and have used their services for over 5 yrs. if your car needs to stay over night or for a longer period, they will without a doubt give you a new clean loaner car and get you on your way. This is much appreciated bc when I was down in the city (nyc) where I used to live, there were many protocols in place, that did not make things easy for you, nor did the Subaru in nyc take a moment to give that extra care and thoughtfulness that Ruge does. I appreciate Ruge’s professionalism and honestly their honest concern for both you and your car. Thank you for your hard work.
Everyone at Ruge’s is extremely nice and accommodating. I made a mistake when I booked my appointment and while they did not have my reservation in the system they didn’t hesitate to get me in right then and there. The service was great and speedy as well! Thanks team 👏👍
I have since sold the car that I purchased here a few years back. They have finally stopped sending me service reminders. Although now they have linked my phone number to a different customer’s account. Today’s event that prompted this review was me receiving a prompt to review the service on a customer’s car. They have been informed of the error in the system and keep saying it will be fixed. It’s been going on 3 years of this now and they still haven’t fixed the issue.
My appointment didn’t go through the website, which I didn’t catch until the day before my scheduled service, but they were kind enough to take my car in for service anyway. It was completed earlier than scheduled and the car was waiting for me, cleaned and warmed up. Everyone was polite and very customer-friendly.
With car Dropped off, Covid19 precautions well taken care of, this time I had regular service and brake resurfacing of my Subaru Ascent and it was a breeze, fast and on point.I have been using Ruge’s for about 8 years for regular service and repairs for 2 Subarus bought new from them. My husband bought our car with 2 years insurance for the car, but when we need to replace the car tires, they charge us $179 for labor without telling us in the beginning, we thought it was free because our prior service there . we bought their insurance for 2 years and we still have time left on it. If we know in the beginning they didnt cover tired services on it we would have gone somewhere else with cheaper service. Dont buy their car. If you buy their car, dont buy their insurance. Everything is so expensive without it. They seem to forget to mention this when they do your tires. Im so disappointed about their service. Never coming back.

They told me the recall would take up to 3 hrs, I dropped my car off at 10:15 for an airbag recall and it wasnt ready till 5pm. I called 3 times before anyone let me know my car would be ready by 5.They did give me a loaner car but still killed my day as planned for getting my car back in 3 hours. When I got my car back on the passenger side there was a two inch smear of grease as well as a white paint scratches all down the passenger side of my car like they scraped the whole side against something. Will never leave my car there again. Not happy at all.
I want to clarify I am a new customer of Ruges and I purchased a 2021 Subaru cross truck with Jen Brandes. I want to say she is stellar with her Customer Service from the beginning to the end every detail was taken care of along with her colleagues thank you very much Jen!
Sam Rigolino sold me my first Subaru in 2011, since then my entire family has bought cars from him. I just purchased a 2021 Crosstrex and Sam was wonderful in making my dream come true. He took the time to really make sure I understood all the new workings of my new car! The Irish/Veliz family will continue to use him!
Service writer said nothing wrong with my 2020 Subaru that the check engine light has been on 5 times since buying new 1400 miles ago. He stated that a mouse was doing it and I would be responsible for all further repairs and to take it back to curry Subaru where I purchased it.no help at all for a car that’s only got 1400 miles on it.

Based on their reputation, personal referrals, and my own experiences with their service department i passed on purchasing my new car with several much-more conveniently located dealerships up north just to have the peace of mind of giving my business to a dealership that meets my idea of excellence customer service and takes their role in their community seriously.My salesperson Chris was kind, responsive, communicative, clear and calm.I often think that perfection is elusive but worth striving for; I think the way an unforeseen issue is navigated ultimately speaks more for the customer service value than everything always being perfect, often by luck. The one tiny crossed-wires moment I experienced was only momentarily stressful and was immediately addressed and confusion cleared. That response, just clearing up an ultimately insignificant confusion, spoke volumes about the caliber of the sales team and I was frankly more reassured of their excellent service.I’m very happy with my beautiful car and the entire staff and experience at Ruge’s. If you want an excellent experience with your car purchase or service and prefer to work with decent humans rather than lizards (sorry, lizards…nothing personal) around your important financial decisions and vehicular safety, then I heartily endorse making your own local, or in my case, 2 1/2 hour drive down to Ruge’s.Is it weird to add that they have very clean bathrooms and lovely waiting areas?! 😁.Thank you Ruge’s!

2022-04-16Complimentary multi point inspections always left me a bit wary, until I started coming to Ruges. Seeing a checklist report with accurate measurements, like brake pad widths, tire thread depth, has been a great heads up for me. Lets me plan for expenditures and to schedule work at my convenience. And the quality of here leaves me relaxed when I pull out. Ruges and Subaru has been a good combination for me.

2022-04-12I always have my Subaru serviced at Ruges. They are so efficient and friendly. Yesterday in addition to my 60,000 mile service I had them detail my car. Worth every penny - they did an amazing job, and they gave me a loaner car for the day. My dog sheds a ton and my car was so dirty inside that I didnt even know where to start. When I pick up my car I did a double take because I didnt even think it was mine. It was spotless and feels like a brand new ride!

I came in for an oil change and they found both rear wheel bearings were in need of replacement, they ordered the parts and had me on my way the next day!! 2022-04-29Scheduled maintenance, vehicle taken in as soon as I arrived. I waited in a bright, comfortable waiting area as my vehicle was getting worked on. Employees at Ruge’s are always polite and respectful. I have used them for all my maintenance since the purchase of my 2015 Impreza.

2022-06-30My 2015 Forester had been having trouble with the air conditioning compressor and clutch. They were first replaced in 2019 (under warranty), but stopped working again in 2022. When I brought in in I was told the repair would be over 1,400.00 dollars. To say the least, I was quite upset- this would be the third such repair in seven years.However, Ruges told me they would see what they could do for me regarding the price. They reached out to Subaru corporate and I only paid a little over $350.00!This is the only dealership that has ever done anything like this for me, and they are courteous, professional and do great work.My air conditioning is working well, and overall it was a very good experience.I highly recommend Ruges Subaru.

2022-02-28I was disappointed for the second time. My appointment for my oil change and tire rotation was 1130. They took my car right away and I didn’t get it back till 150. This is the second time that has happened to me. I always went to Ruge’s because of their good service. Not happy.

2022-05-26I dealt with Angel and he was diligent in discussing my noise complaint. I’ve been a tech myself for 40 yrs which he respected when we spoke while the diagnosis was performed. Problem was diagnosed and repaired along with other service I requested.Highly recommend this dealership!
