It was just okay to me. Fried chicken was okay. Kale tasted like sugar was added. My cheeseburger was slightly overcooked... My tap beer was put into a brandy glass. I was told that since the IPA beer was 8 % it was a smaller pour... A first for me.... Id give them another shot though as atmosphere was nice and service was good.
Great atmosphere, food and drinks! Shared friend oysters, poke, wings, white bean dip, shrimp, and buttermilk fried chicken with bacon Jake and mashed root. Amazing!! Highly recommend ... Now were waiting for our dessert Bourbon Bread Pudding ... Expect it to be amazing given our start! 😉
Servers were friendly and food was fast. No wait at 12:30 on a Sunday which was remarkable to me. We ordered drinks all around and entrees of biscuits and gravy, chicken and waffles, corned beef hash and eggs, and shrimp and grits -- total came out to ~$130 after tax and tip. Food was solid, comforting homey fare although nothing terribly innovative.
Great for Late Night. Service was OK, drinks were OK, nothing stellar, nothing bad. We had three different dishes. Also mostly just OK, but the Cuban Sandwich was the best Ive ever had.A great place to stop if youre headed home after a concert at Barclays but I wouldnt make it my first stop for dinner.
Food was great and the drink I got, the Jesuit was amazing. However the service was lacking, had to order twice and still only received half our order the first time around. Despite that Id go back again and give it another try. The space is great with outdoor tables for good weather.
My wife son and I ate at Sidecar today, particularly after the restaurant was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. We live two blocks away and I had a craving for fried chicken. I figured I’d see if their chicken was worth the $22 pricetag. Sidecar did not disappoint! The chicken was amazing—perfectly crispy, yet moist and not overcooked. The kale greens and mashed potatoes were spot-on, too. My wife had trout and my son had a burger. We will definitely be going back to Sidecar very soon. Service, overall, was welcoming, too! They were polite, kept drinks filled, and bussed tables fast.
Had brunch there today, it was good but nothing so special, was hoping for more since i have thoroughly enjoyed small bites here a few times w/ cocktails.. on that note the Bloody Mary today was perfectly balanced w/ nice heat. Would come back for cocktails and sides/apps but not brunch.
Its a favorite place for me and my partner to visit although they got rid of one favorite menu item recently and the reason for this destination, the turkey club. It was amazing. And now its gone. sigh.Update 12/18/18 - the club sandwich is back! Yes! And so are we for our late night food and beer. And did I mention the bartenders rock? So very nice.
Completely unreliable place. I called them one week before to ask if they could seat 12 for Mother’s Day at 12:30. I was told absolutely - no problem.I then confirmed the day before.I then spoke to the manager two hours before our brunch where the manager told me that it was raining and a large group had cancelled and people were not coming so he wanted me to confirm that we were all coming. We arrived. There was no room for 12.We asked the waitress and she looked puzzled but then clearly came by to see they did not set up for 12.Needless to say we all had to leAve because the restaurant could not accommodate us even though they said they could.Don’t bother coming here.Don’t bother trusting these people.Just don’t bother.
The food was great.cheese grits were amazing. The service on this particular night was exceptionally slow. We kind of didnt mind because we were enjoying ourselves but management took it upon themselves to treat us to three deserts and a round of champagne on the house!Way to Go STK!!! I wish other restaurants/managers understood how far small gestures of customer appreciation go.Food: 5 starsWould defiantly be back, maybe not on a Friday eve.
You must go here for brunch! Between the fried chicken and cocktails, you cant be disappointed nor will you leave full. I absolutely loved the decor (exposed brick, wood booths, a bit dark and warm) and the server was beyond personable. Id definitely return for dinner but suspect Id stick with a spicy cocktail or fried chicken.
Ah, Sidecar. Before defecting to the Other Side of the Hudson four years ago, this was one of my go-to spots in the South Slope: solid kitchen and super-solid bar, with a chill overall vibe pulling it all together. Cool for a laid-back dinner date, or just rapping with the bartender over a cocktail or beer & shot. Recommended.
Went there on a Saturday night and sat by the kitchen bar. I had the pappardelle pasta with squash, spinach, mushrooms. It was quite simple with few ingredients but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Serving was a little on the small side but I didnt leave hungry. My husband had the steak frites with a crisp fresh salad and shoes string fries. Steak was seasoned and cooked perfectly, fries were nice and crispy although salt bae was a little heavy and the aioli served on the side was very delicious. I had a house bourbon cocktail suggested by the bartender and I enjoyed that as well. It was a perfect mix and gave me a nice buzz after my first. Id highly suggest this place for a late night eat and also because of the kitchen bar. Its a really nice touch to be able to witness your food being freshly prepared.
I do not recommend this place I had root mashed, kale and fried chicken. With the limited selection of sauces or spices it was hard to revive the disgusting and dry chicken I was served. The kale was salty and tasted weird. It’s hard to mess up kale in my opinion. If it’s cleaned properly. I’m assuming no one cleaned the meat or any of the food in the back. I woke up with a stomach ache, the next morning. My friends had the Vitamese chicken and there was a foul smell coming from the chicken and kitchen. Another friend had gumbo, which contain a poor amount of meat. My party and I are suffering from constant regurgitation and unflattering bowel movements. I do not understand how they have Good reviews; yet this one night was a horrific castophe. I do not recommend this place.
I happened to stumble upon this place. My husband & I decided to stay for dinner. When we were handed the menus, the restaurant was so dimly lit, even with my readers on, it was hard to read their menu. The food was delicious but I recommend using the flashlight of your phone or just a travel flash light if you have a hard time reading in the dark as I had.
The food my friends and I received last night was despicable the “Vietnamese wings” tasted good at first but the smell was raw and rancid. As if it hadn’t been cleaned properly. The “gumbo” was also undercooked and the kale w mash and fried chicken was all around terrible. We all woke up with stomach aches, bowl movements and regurgitation. You really deserve zero stars. I DO NOT RECCOMEND.
Went to the Sidecar after seeing it featured on Drive Ins, Diners and Dives. The Cubano sandwich looked delicious as it was shown on the show. I couldnt wait to have one. I finally went. The sandwich was horrible. Very, very salty and greasy. If you need a colon cleansing eat it. The price was very high. You could go to any Spanish restaurant and buy 3 sandwiches for the price and get a much better tasting sandwich. Another thing, how do you ask a customer for a tip on a take out order????
Weve been for the brunch a dozen times this year and always return when we have saved up enough money. Their blue cheese burger is delicious and cooked to perfection and the corned beef hash and migas are to die for. Try one of their specialty drinks, theyll knock your socks off.
Came here with a group of friends for brunch on a rainy saturday, and it was TOTALLY worth it. the food is fantastic, and the service was totally spot-on. I think they were profiled on a food network show recently, so expect it to get a little bit busier, but definitely come by for the food and drinks. they wont disappoint.
I went to Sidecar a few days before I went backpacking in the Tetons for a week. I got the fried chicken and it was unbelievably delicious. I seriously thought about that chicken several times when I was crossing snow filled passes and such. Hands down the best fried chicken I have eaten in my entire life.
This place is a must for dinner. The oysters were delish, the duck breast with rice pilaf and red cabbage was to die for. The cheeseburger which my son had was so juicy(his word). The bread pudding for desert OMG gotta have. All the food there won’t dissapoint the different palates.
As some of you may have seen, Sidecar was featured last night on Food Network‘s Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. Some behind the scene photos can be found on the restaurant’s Facebook page and boy did it look like they had a good time filming this episode. Now onto the food…I can’t remember the last time I had fried chicken but I can tell you this, it definitely was not as good as the fried chicken at Sidecar. This restaurant/bar, located in Park Slope, Brooklyn, has a very unique feel to it and is a neighborhood gem. It seems like everyone that lives in the area knows about Sidecar and will take any excuse to walk in the door. Run by two brothers, they take both food and drink very seriously and it shows.Looking around at other tables and seeing the portion sizes, I decided to forgo an appetizer and jumped right into the main course. My girlfriend, Hailey, and I decided to go with:Buttermilk Fried Chicken: free range chicken, root mash, sauteed kale and baconMoules Frites: steamed mussels, shallots, chorizo, cilantro, chipotle mayo, french friesThe chicken came out and boy was it a lot of food. Three pieces of perfectly fried chicken along with a healthy serving of mashed potatoes and kale crowded the plate. The fried chicken was delicious. Under the fried exterior, the chicken was juicy and filled with an amazing flavor (and of course the fried part was a highlight of the dish). The crispiness and juiciness worked perfectly together and I was in heaven. While the mashed potatoes were nothing to write home about and tasted like they probably came out of a box, the kale was a nice unique vegetable that was a great addition. The kale was sauteed and flavored with bacon, olive oil, and I’m sure some other ingredients that gave it the perfect flavor. It wasn’t too oily and with the bacon, had a nice smokey flavor which worked well with the fried chicken.Next up, the Moules Frites. Now my favorite mussels in the city are at BXL Cafe. However, the mussels at Sidecar gave BXL a run for its money and I think I may have a new favorite. This dish had an incredible flavor. The chorizo along with the chipotle mayo, which was placed on top of the dish, gave it tremendous flavor. I was surprised to see the mayo placed on top of the mussels (we expected it to be on the side for the fries) but it worked perfectly. The fries were perfectly seasoned as well. They were nice and salty – exactly how I like my fries. The VerdictSidecar is a neighborhood gem and after eating here, I can see why. Whether it’s just heading over for a couple of drinks or sitting down to a meal, Sidecar delivers. It is clear that a tremendous amount of care is put into each and every dish. At around 6:30 on a Friday, Sidecar was full, but not overly crowded. However, by the time we left, there were plenty of people waiting for tables and the bar was bustling. If you’re in the area and looking for a great meal with your friends, a date or your parents, I highly recommend Sidecar. The next time I’m in Park Slope I will definitely be looking to head back to try some other items on the menu.

2022-06-12This place was worth the go. There wasn’t a wide selection of food. Apparently the place used to also be a restaurant but is now solely a bar but, that was no problem. My friends and I had a night of fun. The drinks were good prices, the music was nice, you could even select songs on a jukebox. There was pinball and this driving game. But the highlight of our experience was conversing with the bartender Nicholas. He was all positive vibes! Very knowledgeable about his craft and willing to answer all questions and gave great suggestions.

2019-07-09What a lovely place! The amazing bar tender, Dimitri, recommended the Sidecar Club and I am glad he did. It was very delicious. The meat was piled high, the sauce was just right, and the bread was amazing. Coolest spot on the block!

2018-07-04Been wanting to go here for yrs and finally made it! Glad I did for a Sunday brunch...Went around 11:30am as I always pass by and its packed, so going a little early we (table for 2) got a seat inside on a hot and humid 86° day. Plenty of seats inside and outside and even with the front windows open the little booths were nice and cool and comfortable.Loved the large bar and dark interior with exposed lightbulbs and brick walls. Outdoor seating as well.Service was friendly. Ordered 1/2dz oysters, Bloody Mary, Chicken and Waffles and a Spanish scrambled eggs with Tortillas. Oysters and drinks came quickly and were fantastic! The Bloody Mary was bold and spicey and not watered down, had 2 by the end! The Oysters were fresh and left me wanting to order more but waited for the rest of the food to arrive. Was not disappointed... The Waffle was plump and sweet (maybe could have been cooked a few minutes longer) and the fried chicken was massive! Two pieces, breast and thighs! Tasty and juicy, maybe again could have been a thinner batter and crispier but Im just being picky and really not complaining. The Spanish style scramble was good, though not seasoned much, but thats ok since I like to be able to add my own salt and pepper sometimes. Both dishes were filling and satisfying and will definitely come again for another brunch and maybe try dinner...Do try the Bloody Mary... they even have a deconstructed Mary!?Thanks for making my Sunday a good one...

2020-11-17A great spot for a night cap after dinner. I came in and was impressed by the dim-lit, industrial chic vibe. The color scheme is rust and green, and complemented wonderfully by the reddened iron ceiling panels.Indoor seating allowed, and the Sidecar is delicious, and paired surprisingly well with pickles. Come her to eat, drink, and chill. You wont be disappointed.

2022-01-12It’s unfortunate they’re closing after being such an institution to the neighborhood for the last 15 years. Can’t go wrong with cocktails, fried chicken, or the burger here. Great oysters too!
