Absolutely a fabulous birthday celebration!!! 35 only comes once in a lifetime and this place makes it matter! Reservations are a must and definitely take advantage of off-season time because this place pops in the summertime! Also, on a side note, love the valet parking makes it feel super upscale.
What a wonderful experience we had at RUMBA. Both the hostess and waitperson could not have been nicer. When my date said she had a headache Concetta immediately found her an Advil. Our two meals were specials and cooked perfectly 🥰. We liked each others meal so Concetta brought extra dishes so we share. After we placed our order, we were told the brazed carrots were not quite ready so a substitute of delicious yams was suggested. The drinks were delicious and there is a nice selection of beers on tap, including a Montauk IPA. The manager comped us a desert and we ordered their Key Lime pie 🥧. It was big enough for two. We made friends with two local ladies at the next table who frequent RUMBA for their happy hour specials. We will go back for the food and service and the beautiful waterview.
This place is great! My fiancé and I always stop here when we drive out to montauk. Unique food, friendly staff, a relaxing vibe, and pretty views. I tried the mahi mahi for the first time (as I’ve typically tried their tacos). The mahi was great and very fresh (waitress recommended it).
I love rumba and I’ve only been here twice. First off I felt very safe going there since we are still in the middle of a pandemic. Their tacos are amazing and we just happened to be there during happy hour. I also recommend their key lime pie, it made me feel like I was in the florida keys! I am looking forward to going again soon.
Love their duck empanadas, shrimp tacos, and their dessert is so delicious! If I ever want something quick to eat, this is the place for me. The only downside was that I made a reservation and when I got there I had to wait 30 minutes to get seated. However, once your seated the customer service is great!
Some of the best food weve ever eaten! The staff was amazing... Especially our waitress Briana. Everyone is so nice and courteous. I would like to also give a shout out to the RUMBA bus driver! Yes... They have their own bus that actually takes you too the restaurant if it gets too crowded to park locally. This place is right by the water, and the atmosphere is loud due to all the people packing the place, but I found it to be not so bad considering the amazing service, food and view. Told the waitress it was our first time there... And she got us free house made banana rum shots! So awesome! So if your looking for a great place to eat check them out. Just make reservations prior to going... It can be very busy.
MAKE A RESERVATION like 462 days in advance!! We got there and no seating was available. They even said they were going to have to cancel existing reservations 🤨It looked cute and they offer interesting cocktails. No dogs allowed. Minimal outside seating.Even though I didn’t try the food, I wanted to share my reservation wisdom so no one drives 40 minutes to only be depressed and hungry.
The service in this place was excellent. Coming from Arizona, some friends from Long Island took us here. We don’t have reservation but they still managed to squeeze us in. What can I say? The food is awesome and their recommendation was spot on. Thanks for the experience.
Loved having dinner here recently.Great atmosphere, great staff with quick service, great food, and a beautiful view!Even though we were nervous that there was going to be a long wait by the look of the place when we walked in as a table of 5, we were quickly seated. We were given menus and the waiter gave us time to decide where to begin. I started with a rum punch drink. It was good, but was more on the fruity side than having a stronger taste of alcohol. For my main course, I ordered the tuna burger, which was delicious! So fresh and seasoned really well. My fiancé ordered a jerk chicken dish with coconut risotto which he said really had a kick, which he enjoyed. The others we were with ordered tacos and a jerk chicken salad which everyone enjoyed.Having the view of the water was the perfect touch for this establishment. Definitely felt like a mini vacation!
This restaurant has a nice Island-ish environment/decor and REALLY great strong drinks. It was too cold for outdoor seating in December, so we dined inside and the tables were socially distanced. For dinner I had Salmon, Coconut Risotto and Spaghetti Squash which was ok. The drink was called Rumba Fuel, it was outstanding.
Such a cute idea to have access to two restaurants via boat. Didnt catch her name but she was a great captain. The scallops were amazing! And I sat at the outdoor bar. Bit warm but great vibe. Cool people next to me and everyone seemed happy and taken care of. Staff was friendly. Mojito was yummy!Bar area seemed lively too!
3 words..... THAT MOJITO THO!!!!if that doesnt convince you their Short Rib Mac & Cheese or their Calypso Steak Tacos should do the trick. Excellent service from Victoria, valet parking and a great view with a chill atmosphere ..TBH they made one of the best Mojitos I ever had.If you are in the area, this place should be a must.Cheers!
Great food (coconut risotto with my salmon was excellent), fantastic vibe, good music, rich décor, delicious desserts. The only star is lost for very long wait times to get a table and food (but one can get drinks at the bar and walk down to the beach to wait along the shore where there are designated chairs to watch the sunset). Also, very limited parking and the restaurant is small and packed.
Oh boi. Where do I start? I would describe myself as an amateur foodist. Ive eaten in over 20 Michelin-Star restaurants and in many, many more regular, good restaurants. So I know a little bit about good food. The 4,6 rating already says a lot. The good rating is what got me there. The soy and sweet Salmon is what made me fall in love with this place.I would say it was the best tasting Salmon Ive ever had. Hands down. It was absolutely fantastic. My wife had the scallops, they also have been fantastic. The waitress was great as well, very attentive and friendly.I would take a 1-2h detour just to be able to visit this restaurant again, but I live in Germany, so its a 6100km detour - twice ;) Still worth it, tho ✌🏼
I was searching google maps for a restaurant. I knew I wanted to try something new and surprise my wife to a nice night out after a long work week. We were beyond pleased with this place!!! The staff was friendly and neat and the manager was very informative about the business and also informed us they also own the cow fish down the road. We ordered the “Dominican style ribs” as our starter and It was finger licking good we had tacos and they were just as amazing we can’t wait to try cow fish and make rumba a regular date night
Food was great, drinks were great, servers were polite and friendly, and the music was a lively mix of reggae/soca hits and classics that went perfectly with the general vibe the restaurant is going for. Service was a little bit slow, just enough to notice. However, the staff did a commendable job considering how jammed packed and busy it was so it did not effect enjoyment of my meal at all. Absolutely worth the visit and would do so again.
Okay so I park in the marina and think this cant be right. Then the rumbus comes and picks us up. The driver was awesome probably my favorite part of the experience. We get there and our friends say its gonna be an hour to and hour and a half wait. Fine we were willing to wait we heard some really great things. We go up to the bar and I order me and my friend drinks. We were sharing one chair just grabbing some drinks then moving outside to wait. The bartender asked if we wanted to open or close the tab. I wasnt planning on ordering anymore drinks until we were seated so I closed it. The bartender grabbed my card did the transaction and get this. Literally looks away from me and throws that little check folder at me.?????????????????🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️?????????????????Debit card goes flying lands under a table. To say I was a little put off would be an understatement. But I shrugged it off and moved on. We ended up getting another drink and got the same kind of attitude. I dont know if I looked at this person the wrong way or what but I knew that even if the food was absolutely the best thing Ive ever had I would be hesitant about coming back.We were seated after an hour and 15 minutes. Where we were seated was very close quarters but that was no issue. Regardless even with being seated so close together we literally could not hear each other speak. Now Im as big a fan of live music as anyone else but this was ridiculously loud. We had to wait until the songs were over to talk to one another. Even shouting wasnt loud enough. For what its worth they were enjoyable to listen to.Our waiter was wonderful. Truly an amazing person made us feel very welcome. He did very well considering how loud the music was. I believe that was the reason my order got mixed up. He couldnt hear me.The food was fantastic and the vegetarian options were awesome. Cocktails were spot on the rum punch tastes just like what I had in the carribean. Now on the voicemail it said that there was a deal for tacos on Thursdays. This wasnt why we came here but it was a nice little suprise. This voicemail neglected to state that this deal ended at 5pm. To be fair we did get there by 5pm we just were waiting on a table but again no problem we really enjoyed the food. Our waiter was able to talk to the manager about giving us the deal even though we made no fuss about it which was very much appreciated.I have been back since this incident, didnt order anything at the bar and am still uncomfortable doing so. Food and drinks are always spot on here.
Best Caribbean inspired restaurant I have. Been to not actually in the Caribbean. I highly reccomend this place. They did everything right. Food - delicious , service - excellent, staff - accommodating. Walked away thoroughly satisfied. Ask for the banana vanilla rum shot.
Sub par food. The staff and management are completely incompetent. Lot was full so we had to take a bus from a marina to the restaurant. When we were leaving we were told the bus wasn’t running and to take a water taxi to another restaurant where the marina parking lot was. The water taxi we find out does not take us where we needed to be. Called management at the restaurant just for them to say the bus is running. Then why were we told to take a water taxi by the valet… who I personally saw speak to a manager. She told me the bus would come. It never came. We were with a sick friend recovering from Covid on oxygen who recently got out of the hospital and in no condition to wander around aimlessly in the Hampton bays to find a parking lot. We had to walk on dangerous roads until the lot was found. Nobody who worked at either restaurant could help us. The manager and staff could have cared less. Will never visit the establishment again and will tell friends and family to avoid all the restaurants that are owned by these people. You can get better food and service at a fast food chain.
Went in with a couple people for my birthday and we were immediately greeted with a smile and kindness. The food was amazing (i had the Dominican ribs as a starter and the Grenada chicken/coconut risotto as an entree😩) and the drinks tasted great (i had the rum pairing flight). The ambiance, the decor, and the dancehall/soca music made my stay there much more enjoyable. The true highlight of our night was the amazing service we received from the wait staff who made us feel at home, even though we live more than 60 miles away lol. I 10/10 recommend you try this restaurant
Food is excellent. Every dish is fairly uncomplicated, and really let the quality of the ingredients shine. Every option on the drink menu is delicious and well balanced. Ask about their homemade banana & vanilla bean rum, its smooth (Not smooth from a hardcore drinkers perspective. Smooth from the point of view of someone who hates the paint thinner most people claim to be smooth) and absolutely delicious. The service is impeccable, and the staff is warm and welcoming. The restaurant is clean and tables are well spaced. Staff were wearing their masks properly, not as chin diapers. If I could rate them higher I would.
The ambience was so cool! We got drinks and appetizers to go and sat out on the picnic tables overlooking the ocean. The drinks were phenomenal and a great bang for the buck. When you pay upwards of 10-15 for a drink, you hope not to be disappointed, and we sure werent, based on the quantity and quality!
Had a FANTASTIC birthday meal here! Even though we had to wait quite a bit for our table (not the managements fault, just people nursing their ice) they were extremely apologetic, friendly and wonderful. Food was superb and delicious. Definitely want to make this a regular stop!
Been going here for years but feels like management has really gone downhill recently. came on a Thursday evening and was quoted 30 minutes for two people- no problems there, we gave our name and number. the bar was packed, and it was clear there were not enough staff to handle the rush. we ordered drinks at the bar and waited in the back near the dock. after 30 minutes, we check up on the reservation and are told that it’s going to be another 30 minutes. no apology, attempt to make it right, just an attitude of “if you don’t like it, you’re free to leave” by who I assume is the manager (shorter man in a blue button down and shorts, the only person working there dressed differently). we wait 30 minutes and check back, at which point we’re told they gave our seat away. at this point we can see there are plenty of tables vacant. the hostess gives us an attitude and haughtily walks us to a table, puts the menus down and walks away without a word or eye contact. I’ve been here many times before and it was never like this- if management sees this, consider hiring more staff as the workers were clearly overwhelmed, and didn’t have the wherewithal to even try to remedy a poor situation that they caused.
This place is right around the corner from my home. There are 2 other locations on long Island associated with it and their food is always good. My favorites for appetizers are the Duck Empanadas and their guac. Its always so fresh! Entrees are all good there, the Caribbean style food is phenomenal. I quite enjoy the jerk chicken and the tacos. As an aside, their coconut risotto is worth getting on its own. Ive never enjoyed coconut so much! Dont forget their rum punch for a cool refreshing beverage while you eat. They even have a bus that can take you from their remote parking to the restaurant when they are busy and, if you live in the area and arent comfortable driving home, they will drop you off at your house! There is outdoor seating and a boat during the summer that will bring you to their other location too. They even have a boat dock for those who want to float up to grab a bite. This place is extremely unique and a gem in the Hamptons. 10/10 would recommend. I have been to the other two locations as well and the standards are matched across the board. I would recommend getting a reservation though...Theyre always busy.
Nice Caribbean restaurant with a menu that everyone can choose something, including vegetarians. They are kid friendly and staff were great. Its a nice take of Caribbean food, as I am from the Caribbean as well and have eaten food from many of the various Islands. Portions were of a good size. They currently are very busy and can get filled up quick. Call ahead if you can to find out if there are tables available. There are outdoor and indoor seating available. Out in the back is a dock and I saw people going on a boat for a ride but I wasnt sure if it was affiliated with the restaurant.
If you go here on a date or basically with anyone you want to have a conversation with, Don’t get a table inside! The music was so loud we could not even talk to each other. The waitress came over to check on things and I had asked her if she could just turn the music down a tad. It never happened. Then another waitress came over to see if we needed anything else and I asked her for another prosecco. She couldn’t hear me and I had to repeat myself 3 times - even the servers cannot hear what the customers are asking. Nonetheless I never did get a 2nd prosecco. We will continue to go to Cowfish and Flora which is the same owner but no more Rumba. Very very disappointing.
Impossible to reach over the phone. We had a reservation for 8:30, arrived a few minutes earlier and were not seated until 9. The hostess was no help and not apologetic at all. Considering we had 3 kids that was a very long waiting time. We wanted to make our wait time more pleasant but it took over 20 minutes to get our ordered 2 drinks. The waitress were very attentive and moved quickly. The food was inconsistent with some awesome dishes and some mediocre. The drinks were good.As per COVID: no hand sanitizers were available, the place is crowed at the entrance.
Rumba had a really nice atmosphere and excellent customer service. The duck empanadas were unique and delicious, especially paired with the chipotle-mayo-ish dipping sauce they give you.Tacos were really good. Burger was overdone, but they were kind enough to take that off the bill. Service like that goes a long way.
I can only say AWESOME things about this place in the summer. The online reservation system is so easy. The waitress Melissa was THE BEST ever during our most recent visit (July 2019). She was 60% of the reason we enjoyed it so much - very funny, personable & constant smile while giving honest recommendations on the best dishes. The outdoor seating was on the Shinnecock canal which offered a beautiful view. The food was delicious. When we went in the winter, it was so cold inside the restaurant as they have very drafty windows which we were seated directly in front of. At that time we couldnt get out of there fast enough despite the delicious food because we were so uncomfortable (freezing). Ill give it 5 stars from May to November. 4 stars for December through April. :-)
If six or more stars were available, Id certainly rate Rumba Hampton Bays that high. Ive been all around the world, and rarely have I been to a restaurant where the food smelled so good from the parking the lot that I could taste it! The fare is fresh, crisp, flavorful and island-inspired. Add local ingredients, such as best scallops Ive ever eaten, and youll be in mouthwatering food bliss. The service is first class and as down to earth friendly as you could ask for from parking, to reception to food.My favorite must eats: Golden maduro plantains, papaya salad with grilled local scallops
Food was awesome, ribs, jerk chicken, blackened shrimp over coconut risotto, bigga Caribbean rum punch. We had desert too the double scup of ice cream with hot fudge. Found a PIECE OF GLASS in the ice cream about 1/2 long thought it was a piece of walnut or almond that came with the ice cream and chewed it again. realized it was not chewable and spit it out. Was going to tell the waitress but ended up dropping it on the floor and couldnt find it. We were in the corner booth across from the bar 8/6/21 Im 55 yrs old and never experienced a piece of glass in dessert or food. Management get rid of any chipped or broken glass jars
Absolutely love the waiters/waitresses, the food is great, and the drinks arent bad. But the front of house staff makes the experience severely lackluster. Between the manager being not sure if I should sign for my dinner, to the hostess not picking up the phone (while we were in front of her, she was just chatting it up with her buds while the phone was in her hand), it’s clear that the bartenders and wait staff are the only ones worth visiting. Definitely dine in versus take out to avoid the hassle, and hope someone picks up the phone.
We made a reservation for two tables, and they said they could accommodate the parties and seat us next to each other. We showed up on time, and the tables weren’t ready. They asked us to wait outside in 35 degree weather. Then they attempted to seat us at tables outside, to split up the group by sitting 2 people separate from the other 10, and seating us at tables where 6 people did not fit. When we told the hostess those were unacceptable conditions, she proceeded to slam chairs and act very unprofessionally in her purple Easter egg pants. The manager did nothing to attempt to rectify the situation or create a solution that was acceptable, and the whole time we stood outside waiting for them to respect the reservation.
What can I say, A lot! Listen, If I could put 10 Stars I would, We stayed in the Hampton Bays so I could be halfway between Bethpage Black and Montauk Downs for Golfing…Anyway let me get to the food! Best Restaurant and Food in NY Period!!! For some perspective I did Eleven Madison Park a Michelin Star Restaurant for my Birthday one year and it doesn’t even compare lol …RUMBA! It’s the Vibe and Music that sets the scene! The Food is so good you actually dream about it! No Lie! Jerk Chicken, Ribs, and Wings is a MUST! And the Kids Menu Blew my mind, the Mahi Fingers just Wow! Most of All the Staff love what they do! 10 Stars ! When you see real Jamaicans come here, it’s Legit!
So so good! What a cute little spot! Unexpectedly popped in during a Sunday drive outeast (it was really on a Monday, President Day holiday) It was happy hour so they had some drink specials and 1/2 price apps if you sat at the bar. The food was delicious. We indulged and got almost every appetizer on the menu (the ribs, wings, tuna and crab cakes are all amazing). The staff was very friendly. Great view of the water. Comfortable chairs at the bar. Clean bathrooms. I would absolutely come back and definitely recommend this business. A++
Would give 0 stars if it were an option. Called ahead of time to make sure our party could be seated. They told us to come. After our 20 minute Uber ride we were told we had to wait an hour and a half to be seated. VERY RUDE HOSTESSES. It was not a nice misunderstanding. They were over the top rude and made us feel stupid as if we were wrong. Never coming back
My husband and I dined there this evening for dinner. The customer service is excellent and I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone. We will be back and I don’t find many places that I can say that about. Our waitress Christa goes above and beyond! Management makes the experience great!
Without a doubt, food and drinks were delicious, however customer service was not the best as a first time visitor travelled 2+ hours with a family of 12. Hostess for the day had us reserved to be seated in a school bus looking dining area which is no way to my knowledge appropriate for a family of 12 during COVID and following proper CDC outdoor seating guidelines, extremely congested with no proper ventilation, when approached the hostess regarding change of seating location, she blatantly without hesitation insisted that thats the only area were allowed to be seated since were a little late. After explaining the circumstances of which we were late the hostess kept her composure and insisted she had no other location for us to be seated. A wonderful young lady, our waitress, Artist came in to serve and felt bad that so many of us was clustered in this tiny little bus and arranged for a proper outdoor seating. Because of her service we stayed and enjoyed our delicious dinner and made memories. We need more humankind as Artist, very professional, kind and tentative to all 12 of us. THANK YOU Artist! Rumba and fellow owners, please be mindful of how you seat your customers in the bus. Not a way to follow proper social distancing with CDC guidelines.
This is a hard one for me to review, being Jamaican I have experience and biased towards authentic Caribean food, and this is not authentic So to the review Jerk chicken is bland and does not taste of jerk, well presented but certainly not the jerk you would get in Boston Jamaica. On to the highpoints the fish tacos where amazing and the cocktails were to die for. Will be going back but will avoid all Carribean dishes except for the candeed plantain (amazing)
A friend brought me here, and recommended that we try the shrimp tacos. The food was scrumptious and the waitress working with us was excellent in how she served us and took care of our needs. Additionally, the dessert we picked was a tres leches cake and it was absolutely amazing. Id recommend this to anyone seeking a good restaurant with a delightful view of the water.
Amazing food! The best food I’ve had in New York state! Tasty, cooked adequately, decent portions. We had a prix fix menu, so had so much food for $30 only! The bartender was so nice and welcoming, and 8 month pregnant what amazed us even more! Highly recommend to everyone who’s visiting the Hamptons
This place was an inspiration. The setting was magical the service superb and the food was delicious, inventive and spot on in execution. The giant scallops were cooked to perfection perfectly browned. The grilled fish tacos flavored perfectly with a coleslaw. The ribs melted in your mouth bursting with flavor and a hint of heat. The staff very attentive and even tho they were very busy they kept checking back on us. The drinks seemed to have a light pour of alcohol but if you order wine, beer or a Martini you are set. 5 stars. Very well run operation.
I’m a knit picker pessimist. According to my brother in law no two drinks were the same, but in the bartenders defense it was very busy. The hostess was exceptional and helped us navigate the wait. Music could have been louder. Food was good and came out promptly. Key lime pie was good but very pricey. Check it out if your in the area, and take advantage of there weekly drink specials.
Really cute place. Went there on my motorcycle during the winter, so we didnt sit outside, but we were by a panoramic window that overlooked Shinnecock bay. Caesar salad was fantastic, and the cheeseburger (insulting to even call it that) was the best Ive had. Friendly service, great food, excellent pricing. Will definitely be going back soon !!!
This restaurant is a diamond. It is a great, safe location to bring the family or to have a few drinks with friends. The food is excellent, and the service is top notch. The rum punch is better than any you will find on any Caribbean Islands!!! Hands down the best part of this fantastic eatery is the view. I recommend it to anyone who is in the area.
The food was excellent. Only thing that I didnt care for was the woman took the towels and wipes off the seat you sit on and took that same towel and wiped the table off. Where people sit can have an odor. You dont wipe the table with that same wipe. Otherwise excellent. Have been there quite a few times. Then she seemed like she had gotten a little attitude because I was explaining to her about it. You would of had 5 stars other than that. I love rumbas!!!..👍🏾👍🏾😉
We go there often to eat, great food (especially the wings, burgers, tacos and their key lime pie is outstanding!) I always recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a great time with amazing food and drinks (you must try the key lime martini!). They also catered my baby shower back in January and did a tremendous job! Being in the industry, we have very high standards and they met them. The staff, food and overall event were exactly what I wanted. Great atmosphere, beautiful water views and the best tropical feeling location in the hamptons! Thank you Rumba team for an outstanding job!
Ive been here multiple times and usually love it but had a disappointing experience this past Friday night. We put our name in and were told 45 minutes, 2 hours later we did not have a table. Luckily we secured bar seats and ordered. After over 30 minutes we had not gotten even our water. We ordered some starters like guacamole and nothing had come out. The first thing to arrive was the one entree we ordered. When we tracked down a waiter to ask if everything else was coming we were met with a lot of attitude and little service. Its usually a fun place with good food but this definitely changed my opinion a bit.
Rumba had a great view of the bay and would definitely recommend sitting outside. A reservation is required but they had availability. The staff were friendly and all wore masks. Tables were 6 feet apart. Food and drinks were solid. Id definitely have more rum sangria.
From the valet parking attendant, to the hostess, to the waitress the staff was very courteous and attentive. The steak and pistachio , sweet potatoes were amazing. They gave a sealed envelope with a discount 10%-30% off. I cant wait to go back for the waitress to say how much the discount is.
The food was awesome!!!!! I had the calypso taco,and....wow. We went during midday and it was pretty hot indoors and under the Canopy (80+ outside). Dont know if that was the norm, during the summer, but again the food, drinks, and service were all awesome and made up for the heat. Highly recommended!!!
The Only redeeming quality was the food and drink. It was the most atrocious display of customer service Ive experienced since being in the Hamptons. We were originally told it would be a 20 minute wait. I understand that is an estimate and can vary. We were seated 56 minutes later. Already, our party was a bit sour on the experience. We quickly order with food and drinks. When the food comes, 2 of the 3 meals were missing items. During our entire time at the establishment, never once did the GM come by to apologize for the gross underestimate of wait time or to even see how the meal was going. Im not naive enough to believe I am more important than any other patron. Nor did I want any form of discount for the meal. I felt the situation could have been rectified through simple acknowledgement of leadership presence. Huge fail on the GM. Too many good places for this place to be on your list of places to go.
Fantastic food and drinks. Cool vibe and atmosphere. It is family friendly but wouldnt recommend bringing children in the evening as Its very small and gets crowded. Tables are small and close together. Bathroom is tiny too. Valet parking because the lot is small. Long waits in busy seasons, but worth it!
Food is very good, not a fan of the wine list, beer is usually cold (had to send a few back over several visits) and people watching is top notch...service is usually good but can be inconsistent and the parking situation is a royal PITA....because it is on a very busy road, drop offs and pick ups can be hazardous. Street corn, tacos and empanada s are outstanding.
I love this place. Such a great carefree carribean vibe. The view is so nice inside and out. You can take your drinks or have them pack your food to go and go sit outside by the pier. I love the tacos and sweet heat drink with jalapenos and blackberries is my all time favorite drink.
The atmosphere of this restaurant is so versatile depending on the reason behind your visit. I have had the most romantic date of my life here, and some of the greatest starts to long beach nights with friends. If there is a wait there is plenty to do between taking a boatride to Cowfish or hanging out outside.. the music and beautiful, modern, tropical motif set the scene in such a perfect way... and the food has never done anything other than completely impress and satisfy me. All time favorite restaurant. A definite necessary visit.
Good food. Friendly servers. Unfortunately, it is not handicap friendly. We were there this with with our daughter. She is in a wheelchair. After lunch she went to the rest room. There was one stall for women and her wheelchair could not get into the stall. The stall was totally inaccessible. We spoke to the manager on duty. He professed that no one had ever complained before. He did apologize. But a restaurant that has one handicap parking spot and a ramp to enter the restaurant should have a rest room for women and men that is handicap accessible.
Pros: Beautiful location on the water with a pontoon boat ride over to Cowfish. The dominican ribs were the best ribs everyone at the table has ever had and the plantaind were good! Our server was super friendly and the service was all around fantastic.Cons: Although there are gluten free items on the menu, this place could do a better job at accomodating GF foods. The tacos are only gluten free if you get them on a lettuce wrap and the double dipper is only gluten free if you substitute the chips with peppers. It is not too difficult to provide corn chips and shells to those who are gluten free and would have made the experience a lot better. The inside of the BBQ and fish tacos were great though! Additionally, the portions are small considering the price of the food.
My favorite restaurant anywhere. Their burgers are the best Ive ever had!! My only complaint is the parking is extremely limited, and its always mobbed. The service, and food is worth braving the crowd though. Try the pork tenderloin, you wont be disappointed. Rumba has a great atmosphere.
We went there on sat for dinner for a bachelorette party..we had a large party of 11 people so we had reservations for the bus at 10pm. We go there on time but the bus wasnt ready until about 1030 which was a little disconcerting bc they close at 11 BUT the staff was super nice and let us hang out n eat..we didnt feel rushed at all and ended up leavung around 12 or so THE FOOD WAS AMAZING!! The bus was awesome..so nice and private..the music was great and the drinks were excellent! Will definitely be going back during the full swing of summer for their out door seating!! It was a great time!! We didnt even care about the half hour wait it was soo worth it!!
This place was recommended to me by a local, Went here on a cold December day so no patio but still enjoyed the water views. I had Jerk chicken with coconut rice along with a fish taco. The food had a modern twist with caribbean flair. I was given a slice of Key Lime pie to enjoy at home. I will be back when I am in the area again
A favorite restaurant of ours. Small restaurant and parking lot, so it gets very busy and wait times can be long. We love to go in the summer, but becuase of its popularity - we mostly dine there in the off season. Tacos are delish, ribs and duck empanada appetizers are highly recommended. Rum punch packs a punch but is delicious. Prickly pear margaritas are amazing. You can take the RUMBarge to their sister restaurant Cowfish just down the bay.
Always a great time at Rumba. There is usually a very long wait, but as long as you plan for it, it is actually pretty fun. We usually put our name on the list, grab a drink at the bar, then hop the bus or boat over to cowfish (their sister restaurant) and grab a few drinks there until our table is ready. The Dominican Ribs are some of the best ribs Ive ever had. Otherwise stick to drinks and apps. Entrees are good, but not outstanding. Overall great place.
The food is great, also the vibe of the place. We park at cow fish and take the boat over. During the summer a great experiance. I love my rum drink. They have Kraken rum never seen a public establishment with it. The rum drinks are strong and good. Better off getting a large Mason jar than a pitcher (its not call a pitcher but cant remember its name)
Got notified about the gem by a good neighbor, Caribbean theme is perfectly executed throughout, all staff friendly, knowledgable and helpful. Server Anita especially so. May need to take shuttle bus from nearby High School as parking is limited, but runs every few minutes, well worth the wait. Food was top notch, my wife and I had the Caribbean wings and crabetizers respectively, both done with excellence and very tasty. Main courses were Grilled Salmon and Jerk chicken plate. Superb presentation and taste to match. Desert was Flan, weve never any had better elsewhere. Planning to return again soon, and would recommend highly to all as well. Dont miss this one!!
This is my favorite spot in the Hamptons. The Caribbean vibe is on point and the Adirondack chairs on the deck are great for taking a pitcher of sangria down to and enjoying a cool evening. The coconut Sriracha wings are phenomenal and cannot be missed. The tacos are also some of the best that I have ever had. The one downside is that it is quite small and the wait can get more than an hour during peak season. On the plus side, you can always take the a ride on the free water shuttle to Cowfish and enjoy a drink while you wait.
Always a hot spot in Hampton Bays. I recommend going during the week to avoid the crowds on the weekends. Tonight we decided to sit and eat at the bar. Our waitress/bartender Sarah was excellent at her craft. W started off the evening with their signature drink (Rum punch inthe mason jar). This drink is always a bit and very popular at Rumba. We had the double dip and seared ahi tuna for appetizers. Both were so delicious and the tuna, seared to perfection! For dinner we also had the crab salad and the crab cake.It was an enjoyable evening, out bill came to $125 for 2 spending $36 on 3 Rum Punch. This didnt include tip. Overall it was over $150 and wet had a blast doing it!
What a great suprise, great food with a very interesting menu using only the freshness ingredients. The drinks were incredible. The staff was great as well as the view and finally the reggae music they played was not from the legend album (true reggae fans will understand this one)
Came here Saturday of Mother’s Day weekend, and WOW. Service was amazing, our waitress (Mariia) was awesome, super attentive and sweet. The food was UNBELIEVABLE. And of course the rum punch was hittin!!!! My fiancé got the jerk chicken entree, I got the GF fish and shrimp tacos. We had the best night!! the duck empanadas...!!!!!!! GAME CHANGER.
DELICIOUS!! Such a fun atmosphere and fun dining experience! We were a group of 16 and came for the final dinner of my bachelorette party in the Hamptons. We had pitchers of rum punch and sangria- DELISH! We ordered appetizers to share, individual dinners, and desserts to share- everything was absolutely delicious. The service and staff were great- attentive, friendly, and very helpful in making my bachelorette dinner perfect! This is my 3rd time at rumba (2nd time for a bachelorette) and each time I go it exceeds my expectations!
Being a business owner myself, I wont give this place less than 4 stars without first trying to the food and drink, that wouldnt be fair. That being said let me Express my disappointment and give a few pointers to those looking to check this place out.dont bother if you dont have a reservation, I thought it would be a cool place to take my wife for our anniversary, I love Caribbean food, she loves rum cocktails, so I called around 3 Friday afternoon to book a table, maybe Im being sensitive, but I could swear the guy on the phone laughed at me, should have been my first hint. I asked how packed are you guys round 830ish should I even bother? he said there will be a little wait but come downwe live almost a half hour away. Called again around 730 before we headed out no one answered the phone, that should have been my 2nd hint.got there 840, place is packed, parking lot full, park down the street and take a shuttle, is this a restaurant or a nightclub?my wife already feeling uneasy, I got closer to check the place out, its packed to the gills with the usual 20 something hampton summer crowd, definitely not the spot for some mid-30s married with kids and oh my God we finally get a night out type people.Im not knocking this place, as a business owner Im glad to see them succeeding and making money off the summer crowd, and its pretty clear they dont need my business, I just think based on the website it seemed like a cool, low key spot, but it appeared to be just another Hamptons hot spot so if thats your scene go for it. If your like us and pictured hanging out on a deck eating great food, sipping a rum drink with some jimmy buffet softly playing in the background, this is not that place.maybe we will check it out in the off season. bummed we trucked all the way out there just to turn around and eat hibachi near home, but like I said, place is jumping and doesnt need our business.
I would have loved to give this place 5 stars because the food is absolutely outstanding and so tasty. But the hostess was beyond nasty to us. And they only take limited amount of reservations??? Never heard of such a thing... Other than that the wings and the coconut rissoto are a must try!!!
Absolutely one of if not the best places to eat in hampton bays. Delicious and creative Caribbean american food and excellent rum-heavy drink selection. Great ingredients, great enthusiastic staff, beautifully decorated and in a beautiful waterfront location. Everyone in the immediate area should try rumba at least once or youre missing out!!
This place is a lot of fun with good views. Get there early to get a table though as seating and parking is very limited. We shared duck empanadas, ribs and tacos (steak, fish and jerk chicken). Everything was very yummy including the pitcher of rum punch. Although if you have to park in the overflow lot, the Rumbus is pretty fun.
Not surprisingly, Rumba has some great rum drinks. But don´t just go for the drinks, because they have great food, an excellent view and friendly waitstaff. The crab cakes and the duck empanadas should not be missed. They have a sister restaurant, Cowfish, and have a shuttle boat (I think its called the Rumboat) and a shuttle bus for parking (the Rumbus). Really cute!

2022-06-05We had made brunch reservations and were here to celebrate a birthday in our group. We were seated right away on our large 7 people table and were attended by a server as soon as we were seated. This place has an amazing view, so I can see this place be an excellent setup on a sunny day.We ordered a couple of appetizers and entrees, and I ordered the veggie burger which was a house made quinoa, lentil, black bean burger. The first few bites went in easy, but as the burger got colder, I was struggling with every bite. The burger lacked flavor and the sauces werent really helping elevating the taste either. Food was on the expensive side.Service however was excellent and they have a very friendly and welcoming staff. The place got really busy around 2 and there werent many open tables.

2021-09-20The restaurant was very spacious and had beautiful views of the water from outdoor dining area but fair enough view from indoor dining area. The bar area was very overcrowded but everyone seemed okay with that. We didn’t have reservations but sat right away and waiter said hello and greeted us. We had about 4 different waiters/waitresses while we were there, seemed off since every time we told or requested something from one waiter , the other waiter or helper wasn’t aware of it. So we had to repeat ourselves. The drinks and food was very flavorful, literally would of been perfect if when the steak came out it wouldn’t of had a bug maybe a fly stuck in the sauce. The waiter or waitress should be more aware of what they’re delivering to the table. Tacos were are favorite and steak was okay. Sangria was yummy and the dessert 3 ledges was so good! We got the bill with one amount and got charged a different amount because one of the waitress forgot to add the dessert, now what if we wouldn’t of had enough on that card; what I’m saying is we should of got told the difference before changing the card. The inconsistency of service, I have to give them a 4 luckily didn’t give them a 3 which I’ve never had to do to a restaurant. The boat ride you can take from one restaurant to another is super awesome; you can leave your car at one of the restaurants free of charge and get in a boat at ease! We had steak,tacos,3 leches dessert.

2022-05-29What an amazing experience! The food was delicious. We ordered the shrimp curry, chicken curry, duck empanadas, wings, and coconut shrimp with mojitos - everything was outstanding. The service was impeccable. For dessert I ordered their chocolate bread pudding which was alright but the food and appetizers were too good. We sat outside so had an awesome view. We will definitely return! We had to park our car in a spot further away and then take the bus to the restaurant which was a fun experience. Over all 10/10

2022-06-29Rumba was fantastic. The waiters were pleasant, friendly, and attentive. The food was absolutely amazing. The blackened mahi was one of the best fish dishes I have had in a long time and the desserts were on point! I would definitely recommend and would eat here again in a heartbeat.

2022-06-22I have tried hard to love this place but .....I like the idea of it. I like the location and the option to ride the boat taxi back & forth from cowfish. Parking is always hard. Only Valet option. The food always takes forever and is only okay. So it makes the food even more blah since you wait so long. Even if you go inside ans order to go, they write down all your credit card info on paper rather than just running your card. So if they paper gets lost or is just sitting around or someone copies/takes a snapshot with camera, your cc info is out there for people to steal. ??? That made me ucomfortable and i come from F&B background. I literally ordered ONE salad and it was mostly arugula. It was supposed to have mango, shrimp, plantains, etc. There was very little of that. Look at my to go box?! And that think cost me like 25 bucks. It took like 30 mins wait for it too.

2021-07-09I’m going to be honest, I was a little skeptical because when I think of Caribbean food, I think of the kind I grew up eating and this restaurant is no where near that. BUT, I was surprised. The moment I sat down and smelled the delicious food I knew it was going to be good. The server was super nice, the drinks were delicious! If it weren’t raining the day I went, I would’ve loved to see the views outside.*just don’t order the key lime pie. It was way too limey. After two bites I was like nah, I’m good on this.

2021-08-07Rumba is in my top 3 restaurants in the world. There is literally nothing to say here because everything is the best! My wife and I have been coming here for years and its such a treat to have food prepared by true genius. All the seasonings set this place apart from the norm. An absolute must.

2021-06-17We recently had a GREAT experience at RUMBA in Hampton Bays. We went on a rainy night and we were fortunate enough to get seated at a table with a view. Unfortunately it was a bit noisy inside so I asked the Hostess if we could have a table under the awning outside because my Autistic son cannot deal with loud noises and the inside was a bit loud for him. She immediately moved us to a table outside and it was quiet and relaxing!!I was also very impressed by the waiters and the chef who worked around my allergies. I have a severe allergy to sulfite and can only eat food cooked in olive oil and they fully accommodated my request. I had a delicious pan seared salmon in olive oil with greens and avocado!! My husbands dish was in his words delicioso and very flavorful!!We highly recommend this restaurant and the wonderful people who work here!! Even on a rainy night our dining experience was awesome!!
