I was a new Mom of twins when I found out my youngest had developed Hydrocephalus at 2 months old. Dr Ghatan is God sent! He explained everything and was patient, he was just amazing at such a difficult time in our lives. We stayed at Mt Sinai for two weeks and he continued to check in. I highly recommend him.

Over 16 years ago my baby sister suffered two strokes at 18 months. As a result the left side of her body was paralyzed and has suffered with epilepsy since. My parents both immigrants struggled for years with doctors who would belittle them for not understanding medical terminology in English and would completely ignore their pleas to explain procedures and diagnosis to them. I was about 11 years old when this happened but I remember them crying over how helpless and lost they felt at every appointment and every surgery. I remember wishing I was older and more knowledgeable so I could accompany them to these visits and help them. They went from Dr. to Dr. trying to find answers. Luckily, they were referred to Dr. Ghatan. As I got older and became more involved in my sisters care I was able to experience first hand the dedication, knowledge and compassion this man practices with. He made sure every single question was answered. He made sure my parents were confident every step of the way. He performed a hemispherectomy on my sister, the attentiveness and compassion that he treated the whole family was like no other. The following surgery was to place a Neuroface for her seizures and again showed an incredible level of care that lacks in other professionals ive met. THANK YOU Dr. Ghatan! Please do not ever lose that patience and compassion for others!

The Doctor who are really devoted to his job and bring hope, happiness and explanation to every family. His hand and knowledge is phenomenal. He is the only ONE neurosurgeon Doctor who I really trust! Be careful of some of the sharks around you! He is The ONE Doctor who you can entrust your child. Dr. Ghatan had a very good manner with the patient and the family. He was informative and did his best to make me understand the situation we were in. His staff was very friendly. Dr. Ghatan was very careful during my sons surgery. Every time we visit him he makes me understand even though my English isnt very good. My sons surgery wasnt entirely successful because the tumor was in a difficult to reach location. But the doctor did his best and he did a very careful surgery. My son is recovering and getting healthier and is much better shape than before the surgery. And I appreciate the doctors doing his best job for his patient.

Before the surgery that Dr. Ghatan did, my son took 4 types of medication and had 30 seizures per day. But after the surgery , and this is amazing, my son never had a seizures and even when he completely refused medicine 6 months after rehabilitation. Dr.Ghatan is a genius as a doctor and a wonderful person. The day I took my son to the surgery , I cried so bad from fear and loss Dr. Gatan hugged me and reassured that everything would be fine and it happened. I remember and thank this wonderful man every day! Thank you And God bless you ever dear Doctor !

My MRI showed that I had two brain tumors. One in the middle of my head and the other on the right front of my brain. I was nervous and very emotional. Dr. Ghatan ensured me that he will do the best he can for a safe and successful surgery. He used kind words to comfort me and my husband and we trust that everything would be fine. Dr. Ghatan did not disappoint us at all; he is a man of his word and I am extremely happy I was referred to him for surgery.

Dr. Ghatan is a gifted surgeon and wonderful human being. He did my sons corrective surgery for craniosynotosis. He was only 2 months. He is 6 years old now and is thriving. God bless you.

Consulted with Dr. Ghatan about a neurosurgical issue. An appointment could be made promptly with no office waiting. Our discussions were highly satisfactory. He explains medical situations with both knowledge and empathy for the patient. He is an asset to Mt Sinai and its new location--West.
