Very clean, made it very easy for my storage needs. Friendly staff. Highly recommend.Edit: I called on 12/9 to inquire about bringing movers to help vacate my unit and the person who answered the phone was very helpful and told me that after it’s vacated I could go to the office, close the unit and I would get the balance of the month refunded that I paid. I wasn’t planning on a refund so that was a bonus and I made sure we moved everything quickly. Went to close the unit, was asked to give a review (I did) and then they closed the account. I asked about the refund and they told me there is no refund. The last day was the fifth. So I asked to keep the unit if I already paid for it. They said I couldn’t do that either since I just closed it. And I confirmed with them that they could technically rent it out to someone today, take their money on top of what I already paid for the whole month. Not happy at all. They shouldn’t have offered me a refund to get me to close the unit and then backtrack that offer. I had that unit for a year; a small two week refund isn’t breaking the bank. They shouldn’t have offered it.
I ordered my unit with safeguard self storage of Astoria online! All of the information regarding next steps was super clear and once I arrived at the site Brianna was very helpful with moving questions, paperwork, and navigating the facility.Highly recommend this self storage company!
Only a couple of things:1) They need to build a ramp … so clients can move up and down the cement stairs with push carts (which they have).2) Invest in a hydraulic lift for those lockers! Going up and down library metal stairs — one box at a time — is hard and dangerous.The prices are excellent.
I have one storage unit and realized I need a second one. The clerk who helped me today - Brianna? - was polite, efficient, and professional. I got thru the paperwork quickly and painlessly.

My family has stored here for over a decade, & weve tried a few other companies for short term rentals (a few months up to 1 year) over the years, but none of them were worth switching to. The large units are a bit more expensive than they are at other businesses, HOWEVER it IS worth the price for the cleanliness of the facility (NEVER have seen rats or bugs!!!), the easy access to tools (no need to turn in your ID, & they give you a key in addition to a pin to enter), & the friendly service of the employees.
Gregory has been terrific , I’ve been here 10 years and I’m not going anywhere. Great service

Honestly this is more of a review on customer service than the business. Came in last week to purchase boxes and was welcomed by Danielle. She was very welcoming, really knowledgeable and extremely helpful. Ended leaving with what I came for and will go back to get a unit once i finish clearing out the basement and garage. If anyone asks me about self storage i will point them in this direction.
I came in to buy some boxes from safeguard over at Astoria this afternoon and I had the best experience I could have just for some boxes. I met Danielle and Johnny and both answered all of my questions efficiently they even went out of their way to pick out my boxes and even help load them into my car. If ever I needed storage or anything else I would go out of my way just to store with them! A great store equipped with a great team 👍🏼👍🏼

My husband and I worked with MaryAnne and she was extremely thorough. We had a few hiccups with our automated billing but she was able to take care of our issue and was in constant communication every step of the way to make sure the problem was 100% fixed (which it was🙏). Had the pleasure of dealing with Johnny on his last day at this location. I was checking out after having this locker since 2015. All staff I’ve dealt with in the past were very helpful and Johnny continued that theme. He was super helpful and made my exit process seamless. Please visit him at the Ridgewood store and he will undoubtedly help you out.
I chose Safeguard Self Storage due to their offer of a free moving truck and their prices, but the staff and a few other things also impressed me. I first visited just to see the units, so that I could make sure that it would be large enough. They held the unit for me once I saw it, so then when I came back to confirm my reservation Danielizz was able to quickly set me up with the unit. I appreciated that.Then you call the company with the moving truck on your own. You give them your info and they text back with a reservation. Look it over closely and correct any mistakes, then they send you a final reservation. I was able to get my truck within the week. They give you a time frame (I got 12-3) and then they call the day of to confirm and once again when they are on their way.Here is where there was some confusion. They tell you repeatedly there is No labor. So me and my buddy moved everything out to the curb and figured wed have to move it into the truck. We were INCORRECT. 3 guys showed up along with the driver and easily loaded up all my stuff! Then when we met them up at Safeguard, they had loaded everything on dollies and had it all waiting for me in front of my unit!The move into my storage unit couldnt have been smoother, but I really didnt expect to have the help. So Im not sure if I misunderstood something or just got lucky by getting the extra help, but in any case I just want to warn people to have money available to tip the driver AND any additional furniture movers that show up!
First time getting a storage locker and the team at Safeguard have been super responsive and helpful. Danielle & Jonny at the Astoria location we’re super efficient and friendly making sure the locker met my needs. Recommend!

Really well run facility! They offer nice perks for getting started. Moving can be expensive so it was nice to take advantage of the promos they offer new customers. Their hours, location and cleanliness really make you feel at ease with leaving personal belongings somewhere away from your home. Definitely found the best storage unit in the area.

I used Safeguard Self Storage during the pandemic and what really stood out was their willingness to work with me performing the move remotely through a proxy.Dont lose your key because you need to cut the lock off the unit, and sadly they dont have the capacity to do that at a moments notice since the machine/tool is broken. This is less than ideal, so Id recommend that management address this.But all things considered, the reason I didnt give it 4 stars vs 5 stars is because of the staff. Danielizz as an example made my final transition out of the space as seamless as possible. Thanks again for the great service, I would absolutely use Safeguard in the future for storing my belongings.

I rented a unit on location and paid the rent for 2 years without any delay. I announced by email a week in advance the staff, I also spoke by phone and on the day of departure they put a lock on my unit and forced me to pay $ 45.00 for 5 days that I used the location. I tried to explain to them that it is not correct and the manager replied dryly: I do business. Horrible behavior, a completely uneducated man who takes advantage of people. I do not recommend you to be clients with such an unrude manager!
Clean/affordable storage, and their staff (especially Danielle!) are so kind and accommodating with all of your needs. Will def use them again if the need arises!

So far I can only rate the set-up experience and processes for my unit as I just started renting space here last week. My experience with Jimmy was great. He was very helpful and able to answer all of my questions. The facilities seem pretty clean (no signs of vermin/pests, etc.). Cant complain so far!

Jimmy and Dorissa save the day again! The other day I walked in and needed a same day unit for an urgent unexpected move that I had to do the next day. Jimmy showed me all the available units in the morning but I couldnt decide which one to take. So when I returned again in the afternoon he actually took the time to show me all the available units again to help me make my final decision! The place is always clean and bright and welcoming. Jimmy and Dorissa always exceed expectations by giving you their full attention, answering all your questions (and I always have a lot) and always work with you to find the best unit for your needs and budget and they manage to do it all with a smile! I have looked into many other storage facilities in the area but always end up coming back to Safeguard and it always exceeds my expectations.
Safeguard is pretty not bad but JIMMY at the Astoria Blvd location is the best part of the whole shebang. hes friendly, professional, and damn handsome to boot. someone should give this dude a raise or at least some cookies or something. thanks dude!

I rented a storage unit here while I was between apartments. They were very efficient and professional and understanding of my needs. I had originally rented a smaller unit online and they had me check it out before I signed the lease. I realized it wouldnt be big enough and they found me a new one thats perfect in a matter of minutes. Truly excellent service.

I arrived and the entrance door was already locked, so that already said a lot about the security of the storage. So was every single room of the place. We have rented from several places throughout the US and have NEVER had the quality provided by Safeguard Self Storage in both the property and the service. These folks were absolutely fantastic to work with. Their property was clean as a whistle and was the safest place to have our belongings stored. Very, very impressed! When the occasion arises when we need storage again we will ONLY go with Safeguard Self Storage!
After losing the majority of my belongings to an apartment fire that displaced my entire building, I had to find a spacious and affordable storage unit to store multiple pieces of furniture and other items that were generously donated by folks all over the city. Manhattan MiniStorage was offering half the space that SafeGuardIt offered, and for twice the price. I am so grateful to have come across SafeGuardIt and the warm and excellent service provided by Jimmy at their Astoria location at 41-15 Astoria Blvd N. Jimmy answered all of our questions and made this process so smooth for us, we are really thankful.

I moved in this past week and I was very pleased by the customer service I received. Very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful staff. The facility itself seems clean and modern. It would be nice if their hours of access were greater but that is probably not feasible without either increasing their costs or sacrificing the current level of security enjoyed by the customer so 5 stars in my book.
I signed up online and went into the office to sign the contract and pick up my keys and such. I was actually shocked by how friendly and professional the staff was. Juan gave me a tour of the facility, went over the contract thoroughly, answered all my questions and even found me a better unit than the one I had originally rented. And he did it all with a smile. I have never rented a storage unit before because I was always worried it would be dirty and creepy. This place is the exact opposite. Its clean, well lit, so easy to move things in and out of and every time I meet another renter we always exchange smiles and sometimes even have great conversations. I am impressed with how this place is run and maintained and will definitely recommend it to friends in the neighborhood. Even though I only plan on keeping the unit for a few months while Im in transition, I already have a feeling Im not going to want to give it up for a while.

Moving to NY sucks. NYC brokers will say anything to collect their fee. We had to move our stuff into storage after a week of move-in delays. Luckily we talked to Linda at the Safeguard reservation center and met Dorissa at the location. The whole team is completely understanding, kind and honest. Moving is stressful, but let the safeguard team help you store your furniture and youll instantly feel a peace of mind. Thank you!

Years of being there, keep upping the rent without notice (claim to have mailed, but just charge my credit card more without my express ok), and every time I go in the rolling step ladders are broken in a new way. Getting my things out of there as soon as I can.

Too expensive, even when you only have a little bit of stuff, they charge too much. And if you dont take all your stuff within the next day they would charge you extra more. Horrible business.

2022-04-29My experience at Safeguard Self Storage has been wonderful 👍☺️. All of the staff are professional courteous and really focused on making the customer happy. The facility is clean, well-kept, secure and the prices are very very reasonable. Also they have payment online or by phone to simplify the whole thing. I would definitely refer my friends and family to Safeguard. Very happy customer!!!

2022-01-31I had a really fantastic experience thanks to- hope Im spelling this correctly-Brianna. She called a few minutes after I reserved a space online, and asked when I would like to see the facility. When I arrived, she was kind, personable, and eager to help make sure I had the right storage space for me needs. There was a person in front of me in line at the desk when I arrived who was being a little difficult, but she still treated him the same way she did me, with respect and efficiency. The facility was clean, secure, and well lit.Moving is a very stressful experience for me, but My experience at Safeguard was not in the least. I am incredibly happy with the service I received.

2022-02-08I needed to move my items from a competitor because they jacked up the price on me. I looked up safeguard as they’re right by my home and they have a good size with a great deal! 20% off for the first 6 months. The normal rate wasn’t bad either. I signed up online, went I to the office to finish the lease and pay for the month. Toured the facility and moved in same day. Quick and easy!

2022-06-04Greg was awesome. He was so patient and understanding. I had never rented a storage before and literally had a thousand questions. Greg answered each one with our hesitation. He was knowledgeable and had amazing customer service skills . I definitely felt more comfortable about using a storage company but not just any one but Safeguard for sure !!!!

2022-05-12Went I to buy a couple of boxes for my move, immediately when I walked in was greeted by Greg who help me find the right boxes that I needed and he also recommended other stuff that I didn’t even think of prior to going into the store. Walked In just for boxes left with tape, mattress covers and a bunch of other moving supplies that will definitely help me have a smoother move. Will definitely recommend Safeguard to my friends and family because if the rest of the employees are like Greg their experience in the store will be as pleasurable as mine.

2022-04-13This location was very helpful and their customer service was awesome. I specifically want to thank Greg and Briana. From the very beginning I was shown the different units available and was given a reservation valid for 7 days. My circumstances changed and no longer needed the unit. After informing Greg, he was very understanding and we were able to cancel with no issue. Highly recommend this location.
