I needed a key copy with a uncommon blank. This was the only store in town that had it.Also, I needed a car key copied. He did it at the lowest price around and even sent someone to bet me at a concensus place. I highly recommend this business for their customer service and prices!
Jonathan helped my sisters when they had to get into my mothers apartment last Sunday and again last night! He is absolutely wonderful!! My lock was jamming and key eventually was not going into lock so I got a new MultiLock installed today 7/7/21 by Jonathan who was extremely knowledgeable and professional, he explained the issue with old lock and patiently installed new lock. I called several locksmith and was unable to get service, I googled locksmith in my area and came across SafeHouse, called and made appointment for next day, Mike called me to give estimates and was very nice as well. Safehouse was great. My Mom and I went to the union turnpike location near 188th St. The staff was very professional and polite. They made several keys for my Mom quickly. They also changed the batteries in my car door remotes. The total price was very reasonable. Im very happy we went here.
The door handle to our apartment got locked, so even though we were able to unlock the regular lock, we couldnt get in. Safehouse came and charged us a fair price, even though it ended up being more complicated than expected, and they got us into our apartment. Everything was done quickly and professionally. Thanks!
Michael was SO extremely accommodating! He was straight forward and friendly. Not only did he wait a half hour after close for us to get there but took time away from a personal event he had to attend to help us out. ABSOLUTELY LIFESAVER! ♥️
Perfect experience . If they dont have a copy of your key they will try there best to accommodate you by getting the exact key.Remote start reprogramming is by appointment. At this time that is the best. Thank You for your help instead of just saying we dont have a copy of that key. Thanks so much for your hard work.
The workers were friendly while one of them fixed up a new key for my Honda Civic. They told me their store hours. I think they said Sundays through Thursdays 9am to 5pm and Fridays 9am to 2pm.

They were able to copy my Multilock key! Not many locksmiths were able to do that without the card. They were all very accomodating and knowledgable during the whole process. They even kept the store open when I was running late. 10/10.
My new go-to locksmith for anything lock/key/hardware related! I came in Sunday looking for two new doorknobs with a lock and key. (Honestly thought this was just a key copying place). My dad suggested I check here locally before heading out to Home Depot. So glad I did! I needed the doorknobs asap, so I was going to settle for a design that he had and was very similar to my current doorknobs but he said he could get the exact doorknobs to match the rest in my house. Michael gave me his personal cell number and I sent him a picture of the doorknob, thinking it would be about 3 days minimum until he got the doorknobs. He texted me the next day and had them ready for me to pick up! Charged me only what he paid (he showed me the receipt) and I was on my way. Later I got home and thought I had the wrong side of the doorknob and texted him (pretty late at night, figured I wouldnt get a response until the next morning) - Michael responded right away saying that there is only one side of the knob sold and it is reversible. He sent me a video tutorial from YouTube on how to reverse the knob (less than 2 min video, very explanatory and simple). Im beyond happy with my experience here and I know this will be my spot if I ever need anything Michael carries in his shop!

Mike took care of me! It was a sunday before holiday and they not only came out but they came right when they said thwy would in 20 min! He gave me suggestions and took care of not only a broken lock but changed my lock in its entirety with a new key upon request for a fair price!Id recommend these guys a thousand times! I felt compelled to write this review after the outstanding experience I had with Mike. My husband & I are visiting New York from out of state And staying here in Fresh Meadows at a friends house.I inadvertently caused a Water leak that went downstairs to the apartment below. I called Safehouse to buy the materials to make the repairs but Mike the owner informed me the store had closed already. (It was around 9pm) However he said if I wanted to come down he would reopen it for me so I can get the tools and materials I needed. I was there in 10 minutes and Mike was there waiting. Not only did you have a great inventory of everything I needed he took the time to explain exactly the best procedure to make the repairs. I’m writing this review after I made the repairs and the water leak has stopped. Mike is knowledgeable & went above and beyond what most store owners would do for someone in need of help because we are leaving on a plane the next morning and didn’t want to leave my friends house with water leak. Well if anyone ever says New Yorkers are not friendly and helpful I will tell them my story. Thank you Mike
Safehouse is awesome! I called Safehouse after, calling around looking for a better quote. On how to get into a safe that was left to me after a death in the family. I have the key, but not the combination. Every place I called quoted me a high price, in order to break into the safe. Resulting in destroying it without repair. Safehouse asked me some basic info about the safe, ie. model and serial number, and to send them a picture of the safe it self. With that info, they simply suggested. I call the manufacturer and see if I could obtain the combination myself; using the same info I gave them. Or that they would be happy to call, on my behalf. I opted to call myself. To cut this story short; I will be able to get into the safe on my own for years to come. Thank you Safehouse for not taking advantage of the situation and being a honest business!
This is a full-service hardware store. I needed to make a copy of a Multi-Lock key, and I checked with several different local hardware stores but they were not able to make a copy. When I went to Safehouse, they were friendly, and went out of their way to locate the proper items necessary to duplicate the key. They were a lifesaver since I need the key today!! I highly recommend this store.
Unexpected flexibility and generosity! My daughter lost her keys. I usually cant be anywhere till after 6pm on a work day. All the places I found online closed at 5 or 6.The link to Safehouse says open 24hrs. I didnt believe it and figured best to call and confirm. They said the hardware store (where keys are made) closed at 6 but theyd be sure to have someone there so I could get keys a little after that!Told them to expect me not later than 6:15 and didnt make it there until almost 6:25. Couldnt find parking so sent daughter in to get keys made. She was gone only a few minutes. When she was back in car I asked how much? Free she said. They gave her the keys, a key ring, and a nice fob said no charge just post nice about us.So... they waited after close longer than asked, didnt charge, and gave more than was expected (keys *and* ring *and* fob). Yeah, Im VERY happy with my first encounter with Safehouse!

Normally, it would be very difficult for me to assign five stars, but as I am honest with myself and you and I think about all aspects of the visit by the Hardware- rep, they deserve it.Alex, the mechanic, offered to try & fix our old lock mechanism for $55 or replace it for $180. We tried the fix and he did a splendid job: removed it and disassembled, cleaned thoroughly and reassembled and reinstalled. He was fast but efficient, courteous and knowledgeable.Frankly it was all I could hope for.It seems that this local locksmith, Safehouse Locksmith, is a safe bet for any future jobs without worry of being ripped off.Howard S.
I needed to replace a broken doorknob latch but keep the brass handles and plates. The folks at Safehouse suggested using a latch that would fit my hardware. So rather than replacing a $150 doorknob set, I made the repair myself with a $20 latch. The also said to call if I was having a problem.. Very honest people.

We use them at our office, Julia Shildkret Real Estate, all the time and they’re great. All of the people working there are helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. They always copy our keys quickly and correctly.

Funny how when you call they ask you first what you need before telling you the hours. Which means theyre open 24hrs for emergency locksmith ONLY, NOT hardware needs. Grossly misadvertised.
FANTASTIC! My key seemed impossible to get duplicated because it is more than 50 years old. Ive been to several hardware shops, and was facing the need to replace the entire lock. A locksmith fortunately recommended Safehouse. Within a few minutes, they made perfect copies that work very well, for Medco keys too. The owner said they try to get blanks for all kinds of keys, so that even special cases like mine can be accommodated. THANK YOU!!!

I had a key that was duplicated incorrectly and didnt understand why. Turns out the key I needed was a particular blank and the locksmith was able to see the issue right away and was able to cut me the correct key. And they cut keys at a much more affordable price thank the key machines. Thank you!
Owner personally called me to explain and apologize for a mixup with one of their third party vendors that occasionally handles their overflow- owner seemed like an honest guy.Their vendor Harry (I believe) who drives a red minivan, who is no longer working with them, is an absolute nightmare and should be avoided. Tried to pay a flat service fee to the guy even though I got in by the time he arrived and he wanted to play games trying to overcharge and change the rates as he saw fit.
I called them for a locked door, and within 20 minutes the condition was corrected. I received a call within 5 minutes from the technician telling me that he was less than 5 minutes away! It was a pleasure to deal with them, and I highly recommend them!
Customer service is Michaels middle name. He is extremely knowledgeable, gets the job done correctly and quickly. What more can you ask? I definitely recommend him - 5 stars.

They not only helped me with finding the best option for me, but when I ran into a problem with the lock cylinder during the process of trying to install it myself, they were very understanding of my situation and looked into it for me.. 2019-11-18I was locked out of my office on a sunday night. jonathan was the only available locksmith and replaced a stuck lock for a new lock and 2 keys. the process took less than an hour and he tried various methods before completely taking out the old lock. very satisfied and will call again

2021-10-08Had issues with my lock. Called various places and was told that the lock had to be replaced given prices from (ballpark) $450 to $200. Last ditch effort was Safehouse and they simply advised to lubricate the key hole and it now works like a charm! Although I have not directly received their service, i can attest to the fact that this is an honest business. Not money hungry like others. Definitely recommend.

2018-08-17I got my car key replaced from them. They are awsome! They worked with me to help me find the best option price wise and gave me a great deal on a key replacement with remote programming. I would definitely recommend them to a friend.

2021-07-03I was having trouble opening and closing the front door to my apartment so I randomly googled and came across Safehouse Locksmith & Hardware. What I liked and noticed was that the company has a 24 hour phone number to call for issues related to locks. I decided to call and I was connected to Jonathan. Jonathan was very knowledgeable and professional when it came to repairing my lock. He explained the issue and what he was going to change/repair in order for my front door lock to function properly. He was very thorough and helped with testing the lock and key to make sure everything was working. I also appreciated he came in time to help because I was worried I was not going to be able to either open or close my front door. Jonathans service was much appreciated and now I have peace of mind that I can now lock my door and open it smoothly. If you have any issues with your lock(s), definitely consider calling Safehouse Locksmith & Hardware.

2021-06-02My husband broke the key in the door lock. We couldnt get into our apartment and called Safehouse Locksmith and Hardware. They responded immediately and were so accommodating. The locksmith came all the way out to White Plains from Queens at night on a holiday weekend. The repairs were done quickly and professionally and it was reasonably priced. Highly recommend!
