Saint Peters Church in other cities:
My Jazz Church and more! Seniors can eat in the basement. Beautiful mid day jazz Wednesdays at 1 pm for one hour with amazing artists. Jazz services Sundays 5 pm. Jazz funerals occasionally held here. Caring staff. I have been coming here off and on for many years. So much going On! Art exhibits in the lobby. Near all shopping a and accessible from the E train at 53rd Street and Lexington. On 54th Street.
Unlike the incorrect (at the time of this review) photo that turns up in a basic Google search, this Lutheran Church is in a hyper modern architecture style, with many of the meeting rooms and facilities located at or below street. Great space, wonderful staff and volunteers, and lots of social services and free classes.
.Gods House on Earth usually tend to be not only a Sacred Place, but an oasis in the desert that is a major metropolis..Saint Peters Church lives up and surpasses that standard..Organ recitals, if only practice sessions, can be really nice in the early evening. Other offerings are great..The restoration of the Louise Nevelson Chapel is great to witness!!!.Moreover, the Lenox Hill Neighborhood Association Lexington Avenue Branch Senior Citizens Program is top notch. Meal service is very good and nutritious. The number of classes, outings, support services and all are just stellar. Not perfect, but very good. Staff are very proactive..Kudos are in order for this extremely robust use of their Church space as an excellent Community resource..
The best musicians, the most compassionate and caring pastors, and historical Scandinavian design. Whats not to love? This city can get so overwhelming, Im so grateful I was dragged here. Be sure and visit the jazz vespers even if youre not religious. Itll blow you away.
.This excellent location is an important neighborhood resource, and actually stellar in their use of the repurposed Citicorp Project of yesteryear..The newly ongoing renovation of the Louise Nevelson Chapel is quite something to witness, since the original starkness has given way to a Special Space for quiet contemplation..Senior Pastor Derr has both created and successfully maintained an excellent Church for this eclectic area. Their Music Program forms an inviting respite from the midtown hustle-n-bustle. With their Senior Resources Care Program in tandem and wise partnership with The Lenox Hill Neighborhood Association, providing very good meal service and varied activities for active folks..Bright, clean and well cared for by a dedicated staff, this Lutheran Edifice on Lexington Avenue & 54th Street has continued to live up to its reputation as a great welcoming family and place to formally worship Our Lord..Stars fall short to laude this Place..
This church is one of the best in new york city and its all because of father fabias. the church flooded two another ago and destroyed everything. It is beautiful inside and a spectacular space that was used not only for the church but also for cultural events in the community. now it is under renovation thank god and the help of many generous staff but the masses are held in a small space on the lower level while they are renovatingSaint Peters and Father Fabian of recent a very special services. Every Sunday after the 1 pm Spanish Mass, they have immigration attorneys who respond and guide immigrants with their cases. They cannot provide representation but they are very good at explaining your options without lies or false promises. There are also volunteers who accompany you on your hearing days in case you are afraid of presenting yourself at immigration. Thanks to Father Fabian and all the attorneys and other volunteers who give much needed service
Its a wonderful place St Peters ChurchIn addition to being a church, it has support groups for various services of societyHalf-day food is served to seniorsOn Tuesdays they have service for people with HIV AIDS offering them hot and balanced food and bags with food to take to their place of residenceAlso for those who are doing legal service papers and English and Osha courses to get their certificate to work in construction.Time For all ages and classes of Argentine Tango and FolkloreAttend several of the Sunday and Wednesday masses with Jazz or in Spanish and EnglishNot to mention the Broadway plays in the Underground TheaterThe magic is that your religion doesnt matter ... but faith in a God.
Semi-underground structure on the site of the former Citibank head office. Often used for jazz funerals, such as the funeral of Alfred Lion and George Adams.2017 update) This time, I attend Jazz Vespers from 5:00 on Sunday. An anomalous band called string 4 (beautiful cello! Solo is also dynamic), piano and Vo, and bassist who is also the music director of this church. Two choruses were added to the song, especially the voice of a black woman. Although there is a ministers sermon, this is a cheap one. After a short one-hour session, there were cookies and coffee, which was delicious.

2022-02-28The space was very intimate with high ceilings from which you can see the sky. As others have stated it has a modern interior design with a minimalist touch that allows for attendees to focus on the worship service or music being played. I went for the jazz vesper which was amazing and liked how everyone there was supportive of each other

2022-04-19I went to visit a friend and this wonderful church showed me the commitment with their community, very admirable mission...How we can do a lot of great things for others in name not only Jesus but, in the name of Love for others. Easily to spread the love when we have a Mind set for it. God Bless you!!!

2022-02-20Man this church sucks well from just my experience I literally hate it like the classes are boring and the mass is worst cause I always fall asleep Can barley hear the father and bro it’s just so boring too. Not to mention the many flights of stairs like if you were going up there you would just wanna leave that awful school like why couldn’t you just make them closer together so stupid this is why I hate this church and as a student that goes there it’s just so boring and i hate it with every ounce of my soul. I would give them a 0 but I can’t do that so I give you a 1.

2019-04-15Beautiful church with no terrifying crucifix. Very modern architecture in the round rather than the traditional nave. Quite socially responsive to the community need for clean, well lighted spaces to host special events. Attended the National Domestic Workers Alliance 10th Anniversary VIP Red Carpet for Social Change. Lovely event, truly Christlike people. With churches like this and people like this we have a shot at basic human decency and human rights for all. That s my story and Im sticking to it.

2021-04-01This was my home church for 44 years. It is a church that believes in change and social outreach. If you believe in freedom for all, caring for others, sharing with other religious people, great pastors and good people . The added plus is incredible, music.

2019-01-24We rent space there once a year for a meeting of condo owners. Weve never had a problem, and the staff are helpful. I gave it 4 stars because while the staff is great, you have to roam the halls to find them. The front desk is not attended in the evenings.
