I can’t give it no stars so I will go with one star. Like many catholic schools the only goal is to make money. Every good baseball player from the Bronx is offered “Financial aid” aka a scholarship and those that really need get nothing. The staff is constantly turning over and are unresponsive to email. Furthermore very little is done for seniors while many other schools in the area offer a plethora of activities/trips/functions for the seniors. Do not waste your money pick spellman if in the Bronx or Stepanic/Iona if looking in Westchester.

Great teachers and staff. My son enjoys going to school and I enjoy that Salesian makes the student think about others before self.

This is place is mediocre at best. Sure it’s better then new Rochelle high school. But still plenty of bullying (which I think is at any school tbh), staff and teachers play favorites, awful sports, and laughable events. And tons of horrible teachers. You do get a lot of days off. And tbh it feels more like a middle school then a high school. I mean compared to new Rochelle high school. I can walk from one side to another of Salesian in like 15 seconds. New Rochelle High School it’ll take several minutes I’m talking across the halls.I attended 2006-2009.......I randomly thought about high school so figured I’d leave a review about this place.

Let us start with education, to be honest the education that your son would recieve depends on which teacher he is being taught with. There are a few teachers who teach very well and have incredible understandings of the topics in which they are teaching, yet there are some new teachers who are try their hardest to commend respect from students and subsequently make themselves less of a respectable person for trying to act tough, may i inquire that some of these teachers could be deemed as unfair with grading, and completely unbreakable when it comes to talking about a change in a grade with simple points. All in all, the education isnt the greatest. In my time at Salesian a few teachers have left due to a lack of discipline (which Ill get to soon)Discipline in this school is very unruly, As the saying goes by students you do something big and they do nothing - yet you do something small and you get expelled For starters, there are students who do small things and get punished for it, and yet others do not get penalized for bigger issues. Realisticly the school doesnt want to lose tuition so expelling students isnt always the first option even if the situtation is incredibly bad. I can say from experience that the student manual is not followed properly. I do not believe that faculty such as the dean of students should be judge jury and executioner. Rather than making up his own punishment, he should follow the manual. Tuition is quite expensive as a matter of fact I believe it went from 8000 to 9000 or even higher? Like any school there is bullying, however the bad part about is that facutly and staff knows about this and some have even messaged them about it (myself included) and little action is taken. Ontop of that some teachers get extremely angry for no reason but to commend respect. Slamming your hands on a desk until the point where it falls down is a little overboard (note there was no one the desk it was vacant and away from other students) but again very ridiculous and unprofessional. All in all, the school has kind of made me lose hope in trying within school and its very sad and depressing to say that. I remember a teacher stated you guys seriously just want . to get by and graduate? thats actually said yes ill agree its very sad, but to be honest thats the mentality we have been given, and especially myself. I used to be a great student but now I have loosened up completely, I made honor roll, had a 90+ average and never got into the national honor society (which i bet others have got into it with lower averages than me) and that urked me. Ontop of that the ranking system is completely botched, I boosted my average by working incredibly hard and my class rank didnt change at all. Ontop of that the school doesnt make me feel encouraged to work hard or want to go to college. Actually, the quite opposite. We have recently taken the midterm exams and alot of kids have planned on transferring out because they cant stand the school anymore, (kids have already started transferring out) People do not prefer this school nor do they like it unless they probably do well in every class or have high averages, unfortunately. Last thing Id want to re-state is the sad feeling that I dont want to work hard anymore, it makes me chuckle because it feels like Im going to school just to fill up the staffs pockets and make my parents proud. Its really a sad feeling and there is no way it could be improved. You probably dont work hard as a student, your grades are low, etc No, I have just seen alot of negatives within the school and 1% positives. Side track, it doesnt make sense how we pay 9000 in tuition, obligated to take a religious studies class, and are supposed to pay 20 dollars for a religion workbook. i get it, it is not cheap to provide them but come on! Im sorry but I have honestly considered going to public school, dont mean to throw this school down but like i said before, youre only going to enjoy your time here if youre a A student.
