By far the best experience Ive had buying coral! This store has an unbelievable variety of saltwater fish and coral from large colonies to small frags. All very reasonably priced!!!Juan the owner was very helpful and took his time showing me what coral may be suitable in my tank and how to care for them. (Even though I walked in 15 minutes before closing) Long story short I walked out of there with a bag full of coral and a huge smile on my face.Pay salgado aquatics a visit you will not be disappointed!
This store was great and accommodating. It’s small in size but full of great looking fish and corals. The owner was extremely helpful and full of information even after being asked 100 questions by me. This store has some of the best prices I have ever seen in a local fish store. The place is very well maintained and the best equipment is being used to maintain their fish and corals. Will definitely be doing all my business with them from now on.

First found out about this business through Instagram , I believe I messaged them through messenger with a quick and helpful response , I will drive an hour and a half away to them , even having a bigger fish store near me , just because I like the attention given to customers here and the great quality of livestock , customer service is great , always had a laugh with the guy that has taken care of me the two times I have gone and always have to walk out with fish / corals .. they have earned my trust and business . I bought a Red Sea Purple Tang from them. I even called to get some questions answered and Cynthia who I spoke to was so friendly and professional. I was very surprised how big of a box I got for a small tang but they took pride in what they do. They put plenty plenty plenty of air for the fish. I didnt realize the package needed a signature so I got a call from the shipper and I went out to meet up with the UPS guy. The fish is healthy. Im happy it was worth the shipping cost since its a little steep, but again you pay for how Salgado Aquatics package their fish. I was hesitant on ordering because from NY to CO is far away in my opinion compared to CA to CO. I finally pulled the trigger because Ive been always wanted to get a tang. Im very happy with the quality I got and I will DEFINITELY do business again!
Drove from the Bronx just to check them out. Shop is small but full of variety. They are very friendly, helpful and knowledgable. Great prices... especially compared to big box pet stores. Bought one fish just to see their quality. Now I need to upgrade my tank because I cant wait to buy more.

I drive over 20 miles for their superior coral collection, and I’m never disappointed. Everything from frags to colonies, they always have something new and exciting and in so many varieties it’s hard to choose. I also love that it’s a local family businesses, run by Juan and his wife. They’re always giving me great deals. Highly recommended.
The shop is small but they variety of saltwater fish.They lots of tang collection.I visited once got 4 fish 20% off and fish is healthy.Very reasonable price for all saltwater fish from nyc.But coral is little bit expensive.Love to visit again even little far.
My very first time ever visiting this store was in the Bronx. I was very impressed with the knowledge and the know how about the saltwater fish and everything about the hobby. Truly this doesnt not deserve a 1 star rating overall I would give this service a 0 star rating. I was not given what was purchased (electric powder blue-price $1000) instead I received a regular powder blue priced at $50. When I contacted the seller I was given the runaround on multiple occasions, after much failed attempts I escalated this with my bank which took 90+ days to receive a refund. This service was very unprofessional, he does not take care of his customers. Please dont waste your time and money on unprofessional people.Nice try Salgado Aquatics 👏First and foremost this has nothing to do with me bashing other local fish stores I am addressing a situation with YOUR STORE and your PROFESSIONALISM....so very petty on your behalf additional I am not crazy to come into your store and behave in this manner remember it takes 2 for a bashing session just saying!! The reason I had this fish in my possession for 3 weeks is because Mr. Juan told me give the fish some time to acclimate and acquire its true colors and me taking advise from the so-called expert did just that. Now to my surprise I am being faulted for holding onto the fish for 3 weeks OK. Secondly you mentioned credit card scam when I tried to reach out to Juan on the many occasions and as you blatantly stated I was a customer of yours for many years so ideally the honest thing for you as a loyal seller would be to address my concern. Instead Juan told me that he does not have $1000 in his cash register so I should file a claim.....So much for taking care of good customers. Just like you I work hard for my money and I want to get my monies worth......I think thats a fair statement to make. I did not overspend on a fish that I cant afford I was under the impression that this was a rare species unfortunately it was a juvenile powder blue tang that was sold to me. Frankly speaking my entire set up cost more than your store but Im not here to boast!! Lastly my credit card company reimbursed me after a 3 month thorough investigation.......thats a fraud huh!!!I rest my case and remember honesty is the best policy!!! Happy reefing ✌
I went by the shop to see what they had and wow the variety of corals and fish they had were great. Its not a very big store but they layout and how Juan (store owner) put it together is perfect. I didnt want to leave the store. The store owners were very helpful and even explained theyre process on how they take care of the fish. There were many corals on display which i would of given my wallet. Lol. If your ever in the Westchester area check out Salgado Aquatics you wont be disappointed. It will definitely be my to go place from now on.
Great store, i got a beautiful blue mushroom from here, lotta good coral, and decent selection of fish.
Drove in an hour and 45 minutes from jersey to see what they had. Well organized store. Amazing selection of fish and coral. All fish are already in copper (therapeutic levels) which gives you a head start to your own treatment which is awesome. They have the best process out of anywhere.Picked up a purple tang and a yellow flanked fairy. They gave me a great deal after hearing out my problems with QTing a previous wrasse and gave me tips that have so far proven to be successful. Absolutely zero complaints. I wish I didnt live so far or Id be there way more often
I visit the store yesterday and was so blown away from the beautiful healthy looking fish & the beautiful different color corals in the display tanks . I purchased 2 beautiful Moorish idol fish 🐠 along with a coral . I must say the customer service is excellent. I would definitely recommend this Aquriaum store to purchase from .Messiahstylist’
My first time shopping with Salgado and the experience was pleasant. Followed Covid guidelines in keeping and ensuring the safety of his clientele as well as the cleanliness of his place. There is a wide variety of corals , wall hammers and frog spawns. Always a welcoming , pleasant shopping experience.
You can tell Juan and Cynthia are hard working good people. I had a great visit today and felt like a kid in a candy store. Bought a bunch of goodies today, well worth the hour drive for me. Juan is down to earth and took the time to chat with me and answer my questions which was refreshing. Their prices are awesome, cant be beat! Thank you!
This is a very fine store when open, but: this business does NOT respect office hours. I have been there six times during the hours posted on Google, and four of those times they were CLOSED, and I do not live close by. Very annoying. You should NOT go there without phone confirmation that they are there, and good luck with that because the phone rings to voice mail. When open the store is good, the stock is healthy and the owner quite helpful.

I love this place. My biggest issue is that every time I go down there, I wind up buying more than I was intending! Owners are friendly and helpful, prices are great, and theres a constantly changing selection of good-looking fish. I make the trip from NJ and its always worth the trip.

Really knowledgeable, very friendly owners. They keep really great livestock. I started a pretty challenging reef and didn’t expect to keep anything easily, but my new Percula Clown is swimming top to bottom all over the tank. My blood shrimp is happy and interactive. He molted in 4 days. The mushroom corals have actually stayed open, and they’re my first corals. Won’t be going anywhere else around here for my reef now.
Owners were both a pleasure to deal with, prices are fair, fish were healthy, and the corals opened up almost immediately in my tank. Glad to have you guys in the area.Edit: Updating to add that Juan, one of the owners, was very accommodating and helpful in an unfortunate situation. Just seems like a good operation all around.
Bought from them online. Packaging was great, corals opened up on the first night, and no hitchhikers came on the frags. Def would recommend shopping with them over other sites.

Let me stary by saying Juan and his wife are very knowledgable and freindly. While their there were a few people there but Juan was ver attentive and always made sure that he didnt forget about me. The selection there is great and at reasonable prices despite everything going on with COVID. I drove from Brooklyn yo the Bronx and was well worth the drive. Only regret i have is having a small tank, if i had a bigger tank i wouldve came back with way more. Selection is great and half of what the on line prices are or retail prices are. Highly recommend Salgado Aquatics if your in NY or passsing through.
Hey everyone be aware of this vendor. I bought numerous times from him and the fishes never last more than 2 weeks. I reached out to him and was told that I will be taken care of on my next purchase, which never happened. I also had friends that purchase fishes that had the same issues, the fishes always dies within two weeks. I have been reefing for over 10 + years and never had this problem with other vendors.*Buyers beware*I have attached multiple invoices from purchases I made from your store to prove that this is definitely not a fake review. I was a verified / valid customer of yours. All of these receipts I have from you PROVE my purchases and PROVE this is a real review. All these fishes that I bought from you are now dead. The reason I kept buying from you was because you claimed you would “take of your customers” but you never did. This review is for your current & future customers to warn them so they know that even though the your prices are good and you feel like you are getting a good deal you will end up with dead fishes in the end because you are selling sick fishes.BUT thanks for your response. I will no longer be doing business with you.

Juan is great guy informative chill and real . I walked in his place and instantly felt like home . We later talked and I had him set up my new 90 gallon with a beautiful purple tang omg😱 just to accommodate the set up . This place is amazing.Everything looks healthy and has excellent prices. I stopped by with my brother to check it out and we walked out with 4 fish and plans to come back.Friendly and courteous staff.I thought I had lost my phone there and when I called them asking if they saw it they had me wait on the phone while checking the store.5 stars would recommend highly.
Great shop! Marine fish are kept in copper to treat for illnesses like ick. picked a pair of clowns and they host the very 1st night.
Fish there are in a crowded. Dirty tanks over fed no refunds never buying a fish from there again all fish looked sick and scared and the owner picks his fish up with his hands. Our fish died in 2 days.

Now Im 52 years old I have been in the hobby for quite a while now. I started very young started with freshwater fish always afraid to venture into salt water because you get a lot of different scary stories from people about saltwater aquariums. but then I noticed that Im getting all these stories from freshwater pet shop owners and workers so I venture into salt water I was helped by juan Salgado which is my son and if anyone has a Passion for this hobby and cares about and loves fishes among all other animals its My son. Along with his wife cynthia my daughter inlaw they do one hell of a job to make sure the fish are free of parasites and eating basically healthy. And the type of saltwater fish they go searching for are the most beautiful and exotic I have ever seen. And I have been to lots of places. And the fish are always the same just different prices. Hey I tell you what why dont you treat your self and go check them out and bring the family. Oh almost forgot the most important part SALGADO AQUATICS is a FAMILY OWNED business. ENJOY!!!!!!!

2022-01-15Id definitely recommend Salgado Aquatics. Purchased a Galaxy Anemone aka Mertens Carpet Anemone (S. mertensii) a notoriously sensitive anemone Ive only seen this species offered a handful of times, in most cases they are stressed, sickly and rarely survive. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box, the animal was extremely sticky, reactive and attached to the rockwork almost immediately. Its now been in the tank a few days and looks amazing! Thanks for the awesome animal, hope you get in some more unusual anemones I can add to my tank!

2020-05-14I am more than happy with the service i received from Salgado Aquatics. They supplied my nano reef tank with an amazing group of fish in great health, as well as coral that were glowing stunningly under my lights. Salgado Aquatics has an over the top selection of fishes and corals at great prices. Highly recommend them for all your aquatic needs if its fish , corals , food supply etc. The customer service provided by them is outstanding and very friendly!

2020-07-08Juan and Cynthia were very friendly from the very beginning. I am new to the aquarium world and had many questions before setting up a tank. They helped me every step of the way! I have visited other fish shops and have never received the customer service experience I received at Salgado Aquatics. I found them on Instagram and decided to message them- I am so happy I did! They are very honest with you with price point, tank setup, the size fish that would be perfect for your size tanks, etc.When I visited their shop, it was like entering a new world. They have so many exotic fish to offer! The variety of corals were amazing- especially with their glasses! I saw these storm clownfish and immediately knew these would be my two starter fish. My fish, rocks, corals, and anemone are all doing great a month later! I’ve received many compliments on my tank and fish. Can’t wait til I invest in a bigger tank and I’m able to get bigger fish from them!Thanks so much, Juan and Cynthia! I’ll be seeing you real soon.

2022-02-04UPDATE: They lost four stars from me because of the following: bought a purple tang from them that arrived looking good but within 24 hours came down with ich and killed six of my existing fish in the tank. Several months later, I wanted to give them another try because we all know shipping is stressful for fish. I left two emails for them two days ago inquiring about specific fish and as well as three Facebook messages that is know were viewed by them, and still no reply. This store has the WORST communication and lack of caring for their potential customers ever since they opened their second store in Texas and left the NY store in the hands of other employees. My wife also emailed them today about a fish she was interested in and again, no reply. Im done and will take my business elsewhere. Might be a little more expensive but at least Ill get some decent customer service. You get what you pay for.Traveled two hours to this store a couple of weeks ago and ended up with give awesome fish. So far theyre all doing great! For the most part the fish at the store are small, bit appear to be super healthy and well taken care of. Their prices reflect the size of the fish and are more than reasonable. The husband-wife owners are very courteous and friendly. If youre looking for a big, flashy store, this is not it, but its super clean, well maintained and fish are in tip top shape. I am definitely making another trip there in the near future. Wish theyd open a location in northeast PA!

2022-02-23Update: The prices of their fishes went up so high it’s unbelievable! My jaw hit the floor when I went on the site. The tangs I purchased a year ago for $40-$60 is now hundreds. Purple tang went from $70 to $225?! Naso tang went from $60 to hundreds? I know the price of everything has increased but Wow! Such a shame because I used to love shopping here.Their level of customer service is beyond amazing!! Not to mention their prices. We have been in this hobby for the past 5 years and my husband and I have driven some far distances all over the tri stare area to purchase fishes and corals. This place has the best prices we have ever seen. I highly recommend this reef store and so glad it’s located only 20 minutes from my house. Will definitely be my go to store for my 150 gallon reef tank!

2021-02-12I went to this shop with my boyfriend who has a passion for reefing and he absolutely loved the coral and fish selection available. The service was great. The 2 owners were very helpful and knowledgeable. The prices on everything were amazing. Better than any other fish shop we have been to and we have been to many. Definitely going back for more fish, corals and invertebrates. Do not hesitate to come here!

2020-07-11Cozy local aquatic store! The owner and his wife are super friendly and know a lot on saltwater fish. Theres a wide range of fish, crustaceans, and coral. So healthy and such beautiful colors compared to places like petco that overcharge you. Definitely stop by for your fish!!!

2019-04-10Been here a few times and they treated me like family, the selection of fish is very nice they all eating and healthy the corals also priced at incredible prices, this is a new hot spot for me to grab some livestockI recommend any one come and check out the spot and the end of the day we are all here for the hobby.
