Salvatores in other cities:
For us, this is a great pizza restaurant. Everything they sell is very good to excellent. A hair on the pricey side, a smaller menu, pick-up onliy, and cash only make this place for us less than 5-stars. Highly recommended if you can handle the negatives we described. We still and always get food from them.
My girlfriend and I came here for the first time today after seeing a positive food review on YouTube. We arrived around 4:30 but weren’t aware that indoor dining doesn’t begin until 5. We were understanding and told the lady “no worries at all, we’ll take it to go than.” Once she heard we were first time customers she immediately insisted that we take a seat now since the pizza won’t be the same if we take it to go. I know this to be very true with brick and coal fired pizza especially being Italian myself, best way to eat it is fresh out the oven. Customer service was 5/5 and so was the pizza! We will be back...
Absolutely one of the best restaurants in town! A local favorite that never disappoints! The only flaw about this place is that I wish they were open on Mondays or delivered, because I would do anything to be able to eat their food more! The pizza is always absolutely perfect and crispy on the bottom, and I love it when I get fresh garlic on top, it really adds a nice kick. The garlic bread too, is always a great addition to a meal there. I would eat their pizza every day if it were possible!
Its bizarre to say this about pizza, but it wasnt salty enough. The fresh mozzarella is a nice touch and lends well to the thinness of the crust. But the tomato sauce is too sweet. If they salted the sauce properly and didnt add sugar, it would balance the pizza far better.I have to say, Im basically a pizza connoisseur, Im like Mona the Mechanic from My Cousin Vinny but for pizza. This pizza was a let down for Long Islands caliber. For the in-your-face audacity of the sign that reads Cash Only. No Credit Cards. No Cry Babies. as you walk in, I hoped that their food would stand up to that rudeness and willingness to turn people away hoping to pay with credit. But it did not. I would not recommend. There are better coal-fired joints on LI and with the bountifulness of pizzerias on LI, its worth it to take a drive.
Salvatore’s pizza is amazing. Amazing and I’m from Brooklyn. Calzones also rock. This place is a must to try. My mouth waters just thinking of the white pizza. Cash only and they don’t deliver for a reason. Because Brick oven pizza should be eaten fresh out of the oven. It’s still awesome when you take it home.
Hands down the best pizza on Long Island, and its even better than some of the famous NYC spots like Grimaldis. Just as good as the pizza are the rolls, which come in a handful of options, my personal favorite being the sausage role. Seating is on the limited side and it can get packed during lunch and dinner hours so beat the rush or expect a wait. This is a cash only spot, and a whole pie only spot, no slices. Salvatores will not disappoint.
The food is just fabulous. If you want pizza this quality, you’d have to go to BK or Manhattan. Well, you’re in luck . you can’t go wring with anything you order here. I wish they would take credit cards , but it’s worth stopping by and getting cash if you’re coming here. Believe me when I tell you it’s worth the trip to Port Washington . Besides Difaras in BK this is my second favorite place . And then Spumoni Gardens . Come with an appetite portions are huge . If you eat a calzone by yourself . You’re the man !!
Life-changing pizza. As a lifelong New Yorker, I have tried hundreds of different pizzerias. This one is without a doubt the best. Their sauce is something truly special that can’t be described in words. Their mozzarella cheese and bread are fresh, and the coal oven cooks the pizza to perfection. It literally is just the best pizza anywhere. Best of all, it’s a nice, hidden gem in Port Washington, NY.Cons:-Closed on Monday :(-They’re so good that they get away with only accepting cash
There are many pizza places on long island however this one is perhaps the best. Offering classic New York Style Pizza in a real coal oven with a vintage setting and menu that probably hasnt changed in 30 years. To its immense benefit. Every menu item you offered here is genuine Italian American flair to it and worth exploring. But the Pizza! Their pizza is unapologetic as this place is for how Italian-Americana they are. And the result is a fantastic flaky delicious piece of melted goodness. You never order by the slice here, you get a whole pie, of about 4 choices. But that whole pie is going to disappear, even if you are by yourself.
I ordered my pizza. They asked for my name, told me it would be done about 6:30 and that they would call my name when it was ready. I waited outside their door for them to call my name. It was close to 6:30 when I went inside to find out if my pizza would soon be ready. Turned out it was ready and sitting on the side. What’s the point of waiting for the pizza if they never tell you that’s it’s ready? If I wanted cold pizza, I could have had it delivered.
Very good pizza, nice restaurant, on the smaller side but can accommodate large groups. Pasta was good, meatballs were soso, bland for kids that is good, as it was for my son, for adults Id suggest skipping.Just one thing that was a problem, we ordered a pasta with marinara to go for our daughter who is dairy allergic, my wife and I both separately confirmed that just pasta and sauce would be dairy free. When we got home we found cheese in the marinara. Fortunately my daughter did not eat it.PS cash only, but theres a bank across the street.
This site is my favorite place. Of all restaurants I know I prefere it most. I always suggests to my friends to go to that place. everytime I want to go to a superb lunch, this place comes immediately to my mind. fresh and all kinds of food and a large menu.trained staff members, and good ambience. In addition to that, the charge is reasonable. I tell about this place with great pleasure.
A great old fashioned coal oven pizza. He oven is so hot that the pizza gets those delightful burned areas on the crust. Service is fast and efficient but sometimes the wait can be long... but its worth it. Enjoy this place, as I do regularly, you will it be disappointed.
The best. For take out order way in advance ok busy nights it can be over an hr wait. Pepperoni and mushroom is my favorite. The zitis, either eggplant or sausage, are great also. The wine is not so tippy top but who cares when your pizza is literally the best around. No slices, get a pie and save it for later. Love yourself, eat here more.

2022-06-20Been coming for years and consistently top notch coal fired pizza. Light sauce balanced with fresh mozzarella and lightly charred crust. Every pie made to order, no single slice and cash only establishment.Located in a strip mall off Shore Road and parking tends to be difficult especially during weekend dinner service.

2022-04-09The pizza here is consistently great since I first ate here 25 years ago. Just brought home a large pie, garlic bread, chicken roll and eggplant roll and everyone loved it. The eggplant is prepared fantastically! Will be back again more often.

2022-03-06I asked the waitress if they had the condiments for my salad before I ordered, and she told me yes. When my salad came and I asked for the oil, red wine vinegar & balsamic vinegar, she tells me they DONT have it❓Save yourself the time and find another Italian restaurant that carries the basic ingredients. And enjoy your meal.

2022-06-29Horrible customer service that ended with me having to explain to my crying kid why this large male had forced me to give him the pizza back. I didn’t bring cash, so they asked me to use the website to purchase a pie. I did and paid through credit card. I got an alert with the receipt for my order. I showed it to the manager. But he said he hadn’t received payment. We waited.ñ for it to process. Mind you, I had a crying baby and a whining 4 year old wondering what was taking so long. Time passed and I asked to check again. Nothing. He called “the company” (I’m assuming the credit card merchant company). And they said they haven’t gotten paid. But I had the alert and receipt from Slice Life. I said we’d be leaving in 5 minutes without the pizza and would just call Amex to cancel/ so in 3 minutes he gave me the pizza and collected my number and name in case there was an issue. I walked out. But at this point the baby was hysterical, so I had to feed him outside the car. He then came over to my car and accosted me to give him the pizza. But I said I had a receipt that I paid for it. It was so upsetting to my four year old and the baby was crying that I finally did just give it to him. So I called Amex. And the issue (as I told him) was on their end. It’s the merchant’s responsibility to close out their transactions. When they do it will go through. Mind you, it says it went through already just an hour later. I’ll be reporting the merchant and Salvatore’s to Amex for this. I could not for the life of me understand why we got treated so horribly. I hope the owner sees this and changes their practices and manager.

2018-04-05A hidden gem in the Soundview Section of Port Washington, New York. Great coal oven pizza and pasta dishes. Greek salad is awesome. Sausage Pie is a must. No slices, you can only purchase a whole pie. CASH ONLY!!! Easy to see right off of Shore Road. Small parking lot that fills up fast especially on the weekends and at night. Clean facilities with a wheelchair accessible entrance. Public Restrooms. Moderately priced. We will definitely be going back.

2018-05-01This place is a hidden LI gem. How did I not find this place sooner? After 2 years of living in LI, I finally found amazing pizza, on the level of Patsys and Grimaldis. The pizza tastes outstanding, just perfect. Crispy bottom, mozzarella is delicious and the sauce is out of this world. You wont even notice how you will eat 4 slices in minutes. We will prob come here every week now..... So calories, watch out! The best pizza on LI so far. The location is great too as it has parking outside. All other entrées also tastex great, like ziti, French fries, and eggplant parmesan.
