Sam Ash Music Stores in other cities:
Knowledgeable staff! Shout out to Chris, btw.Its great to have this place on our neighborhood if you need audio production equipment. I will go here first before buying online. I also didnt feel like I was being upsold on other products. If you come in knowing what you want, theyve got your back with questions you may have. Its much appreciated.
This branch is a convenient Queens location. The only downside is that it has no parking lot. Chris in particular provides excellent, friendly, helpful customer service, especially with guitars. No matter what youre shopping for, whether guitars, drums, accessories, etc., you get lots of options here. The 2-yr. service plan for guitars is a terrific option as well.
The only thing that holds this spot back is the unfortunate slow down of stock since the pandemic, and the lack of space for music lessons. Give these people a bigger store! It was my first time at Sam Ash, buying a second guitar, and the folks here are very welcoming. Theyre super honest about their preferences, and have a really great feel for guitar suggestions at any budget and experience. I took the plunge on a Schecter Evil Twin C-1, and I have NOT looked back- This guitar is way too much guitar for me. More than happy with it. Simply put, the people here actually care about the service they provide here, and it goes a long way. Would recommend for anyone looking for some gear!
My experience from start to finish was excellent. The employees were very knowledgeable about everything. I came in for a mandolin and if one person didnt have the answer to a question another employee did. I came out of the store with exactly what I came in for: a really nice mandolin, extra strings, a tuner, a case and a bunch of picks. It was so easy, and everyone who helped me was so nice. I remember this store being great from when I was on school and a musician but its been years since I was there. Im so glad I went! Great experience, and Ill definitely be back! Thank you!
I called the Sam Ash store in Kew Gardens to inquire about restringing and preparing an old guitar to be donated. I was connected to a tech by the name of Kevin who agreed to do the work the very next day. He saw me as soon as I arrived and did a fast and excellent job, as I waited, for a very reasonable fee. I was impressed with his skill, and his friendly and accommodating manner. Thank you Kevin. Great service. Highly recommend this store!!
Quick trip for strings & info about repairs. A friendly young employee greeted me as I waited briefly & then a gentleman took care of me. Had all my questions answered without me feeling rushed. Amazing customer service vs several guitar centers I have gone to in the past 1-2 months. Probably best music location in NY highly recommended
I never bother writing reviews and I never trade gear in to stores like this but this Sam Ash changed both. They gave me an amazing deal for a trade-in and stayed open past their hours to complete it for me and get my dream guitar in my hands. Truly went above and beyond to make sure I was happy and I definitely am. Also, I found their selection bigger and better than any of the other places nearby.
Came in to get my guitar set up and Andrew was extremely helpful! Although the guy wouldnt be in till Tuesday he guaranteed me that it would be done as soon as possible. He even helped me pick out a nice pair of strings and showed me a bunch of beautiful guitars for me to splurge my stimulus check on! Would highly recommend this store and Andrew!
Excellent experience buying my new guitar..when no other store had the one I desired, Sam Ash on Queens Blvd got it to me in a couple days from their warehouse as promised. Guitar was all set up and ready to play. In and out to buy and then pick up in just a few minutes. Chris M was exceptional at answering my questions, putting my order together and making me a very happy customer! 😁
Super helpful and friendly staff. They are very knowledgeable with the products and will help you find the best fit. I never felt that they were pushy and just wanted me to buy something. The staff member really took the time to help me find the guitar I wanted based on many of my factors and was really kind. This is my definite store from now on to buy anything related to instruments.
Great customer service! I bought a SJC snare drum a few weeks ago from them online and they got it to me fast. John called and even though I couldnt answer the phone, he left me a voicemail making sure my order got to me safely (it did haha). Havent shopped with Sam Ash before, but with the service I got I would not hesitate to buy from them again
It really means a lot that I’ve purchased all of my Electric guitars at the same Sam Ash in Forest Hills since my dad got me my first at age 14. It wasn’t planned but when I decided to buy another guitar for upcoming tours/recording I knew I wanted to go here and sure enough I fell in love yet again with another Les Paul and had a great experience. Thanks to Ira for sharing knowledge and even some Rock n’ Roll history during my process. The whole staff was helpful when Ira became busy and def a five star visit!
Walking in i was pleasantly surprised at the variety of instruments and accessories available, unfortunately though what i was looking for was not available in store and in all fairness it wasnt in any store I visited. But was able to find another item I needed, the sales help was fantastic. All in all the visit was great.
Dyasia is the woman who gave us phenomenal service when my husband purchased a saxophone at Sam Ash in Queens. She was so knowledgeable about the brands, ease of use and price comparisons of the different instruments. Even though she was honest about not playing the sax herself, she was able to provide convincing reviews of other buyers. Her non-pressured sales manner was appreciated. She deserves positive recognition from her employer!
Yesterday I bought a Guitar for my Grandson at Sam Ash music store on Queens Blvd in NY(my first time there) They had such a big beautiful verity, I had to look around. Thats after the sales rep already helped my pick the one I wanted. The sales person also Tuned it for Free. That was greatIm very Happy with my Purchase
It just painless. I bought a guitar for my Dad for fathers day. He had some trouble with the cords simply a system he didn’t know. I told them about it they immediately say. Yell him to try it he has 45 days to test it. I told then the guitar didn’t have the original cords anymore and I dont have the receipt. They said no problem. He can bring it and give us your phone number. We will exchange or return the money. I bought my Dad the proper cords and he is enjoying his guitar. Painless!
My best friend and I went to this store today. We automatically went to the Violin section. A employee greeted us, she was amazing. Daijha took care of us. She was amazing. She knew everything Violin. My best friend asked if she can play for us and she did. She was amazing. We were both in awe. She made our experience in the store even better. She educated us on the cords and what they meant. Go see her, she is wonderful.
This location is smaller but jam-packed with everything you might need. The associates are knowledgable, helpful and never overbearing when you want to just browse or play.I commend the staff at my local store for their stellar customer service. I walked in needing a last minute Christmas gift that wasn’t in stock and from the moment I walked in, I was greeted by the sweetest person who directed me to Wyatt who got me exactly what I needed delivered to my door the very next morning. He even followed up to confirm my delivery.FYI-There is metered parking in front and quick double-parking to load shouldn’t be an issue, watch out for the traffic enforcement and the busses though!
Kat helped me pick out the perfect amp - price/size/quality for my intro into electric guitar life. She greeting me quickly and spent plenty of time showing me the best options - playing on all of them - so I could hear them for myself. Definitely appreciate the attentiveness of Kat and having Sam Ash alive and kicking so I could walk into a music store and test these suckers out. Thanks, Kat and Sam Ash!
I went to the store today, to get my strings changed. This is the second time i change the strings through the store. Last time, I went to sam ash in manhattan, and I had really good experience. This time, I went to sam ash in Queens, and I GOT THIS. The guy who did this, cut off one of my string at first, so I had to get another one. I will never come to this store again.+I also realized that he not only left marks on my bridge, but also switched last two strings. I cant believe it. Dont come here if you are really fond of your instrument.
Ive bought a couple of great guitars at Sam Ash. they have good deals, all the best brands and some vintage instruments as well. the real bonus is the wonderful, knowledgeable staff and how helpful they are - always!!they have some student level string instruments and better band, brass and woodwinds. they stock extensive keyboards and drum kits.hat tip to andrew, claire and matt for their excellent care and enthusiasm.music is a gift and were better off for having it in our lives. Sam Ash has been a great proponent for years!get away from the manhattan crowds and visit Sam Ash on Queens blvd.
Kat was so helpful. I called earlier in the day, looking for guitar picks & she was nice enough to call the Brooklyn location to confirm the finger picks were available. I ended up going in person later at night before they closed & she was just as pleasant in person. Sam Ash has a home feel, where people care & take their time to assist their customers. Thank you all.
I had a wonderful experience at this location! I came in to pick out my first guitar and I absolutely love it! I went in the store not knowing anything about music but the sales associate, Barry, was so helpful and knowledgeable about what would best suit my needs as a beginner. I was very confident and excited about getting started. He got me set up with a beautiful guitar and all of the accessories to help me learn. I definitely will be back to see Barry when I’m ready for nicer gear since he knows what’s best!! Thank you Barry!!!
I placed an order online during the shutdown of the NY City stores. Larry immediately sent me an email explaining they were not allowed in the stores to ship my item. I was given an option to receive a refund or wait. I waited patiently and the day after they were allowed to open, I received a call from the store saying my item was being shipped. I received my item the next day! It was very well packed and exactly what I was looking for! I will definitely buy online or in store and recommend Sam Ash to all of my friends! Kudos to Larry and the store staff!!!
This pertains to the store on Queens Blvd. The selection of guitars and basses, let me rephrase because the word “selection” implies that there is a good number of different interesting instruments which there isn’t.Customer service needs a major overhaul. The term “service with a smile” does not apply. One example would be being made to feel like I was inconveniencing the worker by asking if they had a simple capacitor. After waiting for 30 minutes with hardly any customers in the store, the worker tossed several packages of capacitors onto the counter without saying a word. For the past several years the store has gotten progressively worse. Go to one of the stores in Long Island or order what you need online if possible.
I am the proud new owner of my dream flute! None of this would be possible without the help, expertise & patience of Sam Ash associates Lily & Barry. My experience at Sam Ash was one of ease and collaboration. I was able to communicate my price point along with my options for payment. I felt completely heard and assisted.I was educated about the Instrument Trade-In opportunities available at Sam Ash. I was able to trade in my previous flute & piccolo and put the sum towards my new flute. Best decision, Excellent Service, What a wonderful store! I feel very lucky to have had Barry & Lily help make my dreams into a reality. Thank you very much. I am a very happy customer!
I had a great experience purchasing a viola for my daughter from the Forest Hills store. The salesmen at this location are good guys. The store manager Dave, is a real professional. He honored a website sale price deal that another Sam Ash store manager in another borough refused to do. Thank You Dave for your professional ethics. Chris is a knowledgeable strings expert who tuned the viola for me and gave me many good tips on how to maintain it. Thank You Chris for all the advice. And last, but not least, Thank You to the sales guy whos also named Chris. Chris first greeted me when I walked into the store looking for a certain viola and helped me achieve a smooth transaction. My daughter is now happily practicing on her viola for her upcoming winter concert. Thanks again guys for all your help making this possible. This will be my goto music store. I highly recommend this Queens store location to everyone who is looking to purchase a good instrument from professionals.
I really like this place, I do. Yet, its tough for me to say enthusiastically that Ive received great customer service. I havent. Infact, on multiple occasions Ive felt that the staff were speaking to me in a very condescending way. Im no expert like they are, thats a given, but theres absolutely no reason a customer should feel as theyre so incompetent that every word that comes out of their mouth has to be corrected. Its very demoralizing. For example, if Im on one side of the store or and happen to be looking for an item that is located in the recording section of the store, does that warrant an employee making me feel as if Ive made the biggest mistake in the world? Or, if I happen to refer to an audio recorder as a microphone, does that justify an employee rudely interrupting me and correcting me to the point where I have to say that Im not here to debate the technicalities of what constitutes a mic but merely to get help in finding an item? As a dedicated customer I should not have to feel as if all I say is wrong, I have no idea what Im looking for, and only what Im told would work for me what I need to purchase; serious car salesman vibes. Perhaps listening first would be a more respectable approach.Again, I love this store. Unfortunately I cant say the same for the customer service Ive received.
Excellent customer service, Spanish speaking staff very professional and patience with customers need. I was looking for a special wire for a bluetooth speaker and they guy told me to take pictures of the back of the speaker so i can get the right wire. He wasnt there to sell, but to provide a honest service. Keep up the good work .
***UPDATE 9/26/18 - I finally bought the guitar I had been dreaming of last night from the fine folks at Sam Ash Forest Hills. As has always been the case when visiting this location, the folks working there are knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. I brought my son with me the day before and he and I were there for 4 hours just trying out all sorts of different things. The welcoming atmosphere, the musical environment...just does so much to soothe my soul...and my sons apparently. Little fellow is quite the ham behind a mic or a drum kit. If youre ever in the area, please stop by and visit this Sam Ash location.******UPDATE 4/22/18 - Since my original review below, I have taken my son back to this Sam Ash store multiple times and each trip yields more delights. Today, as the store was closing for the evening, we had an epic dance party in the PA/DJ section. Smoke and lights and a great track mixing on the turntable...my son laughed and smiled and danced with complete abandon. What a joy it was! Thanks again Sam Ash!!!***I brought my son here for the very first time...he is only three so it was an experiment to be sure. But he loves making music and had a blast at the store in Forest Hills. The staff was great and very welcoming and had no problem whatsoever with a three year old who wanted to try out every instrument he could get his hands on. Very much looking forward to bringing him back.
Mark in wind instrument area was awesome!!Extremely knowledgeable about clarinets and really took the time to explain differences and educate us on purchase of a beginner clarinet. We were in a rush but he accommodated our time restrictions while still managing to impart necessary information. He was not just a sales guy but a real musician who happens to play the clarinet which was a real plus.We walked out very confident with our purchase due to Mark’s expertise.
My visit to SAM ASH -FOREST HILLS, was pleasant because -Dasia, at Woodwinds was Friendly, Helpful and Professional ! It was nice to see WYATT in his new job position - Manager !I WILL BE BACK ! Bonnie Isbey Sholl, Clarinetist with The Mannes College of Music, The New School University and NYC, Dept.of Education - 7/17/21
Im telling u that 9 out of ten times that I walk into this dame store, I leave more frustrated and upset than before ever walking in. The only reason that its 9 out of 10 and not 10 out of 10 is because of one person that works there. His name is Irah (I believe thats how u spell it) and he has always been the best supportive person there for a very long time. Feel better and have a fast recovery Irah.
Great customer service!! Ask for Charles S. From the second I walked in the door till the second I walked out with my new guitar he was there to help. He casually greeted me and found out exactly what I was looking for and the price I wanted to spend. I got super lucky and they had a pre owned guitar with all the specs I needed. I left with a whole package from case, amp, cord, tuner and guitar. I have everything that I needed and he made it work within my budget. A big thank you to Sam Ash and Charles for making this happen.
The staff are always helpful and kind. They are also very knowledgeable so if you want to ask anything, don’t shy away. The store itself is very neat and clean. You can go inside and play their instruments anytime; I used to come here a lot afterschool with my friend. I came here recently to purchase an instrument and a case. Upon walking in, I was greeted by every staff member that saw me. They helped me with whatever I needed and every question I asked was answered. With its heartwarming staff and neat store, it creates a wonderful and open atmosphere that you’d want to be in.
Came from out of town, will be here for a month. Needed an inexpensive violin for my daughter to keep up with her practice while we are here. She couldn’t bring her violin on the plane due to luggage limits. Sam Ash didn’t have the violin I wanted in that particular store near me, in Forest Hills, however they shipped it from another store. It arrived on time and the representative, Dave, kept in touch with me by email with the status. Dave, was very efficient with follow up emails. Great store. The violin does need tuning, It was Not the stores fault , the guy at the violin section was very very helpful and knowledgeable. He went out of his way to ensure my daughters violin was good and tuned for her practice. All I can say is this, THIS. PLACE IS FANTASTIC!!,,,,,Overall Sam Ash Forest Hills, great store. Oh parking your car in that area stinks but not the store’s fault, maybe you can go with 2 drivers while one waits in the car for you.
So tired of going to Guitar Center and waiting around for inexperienced salespeople to begrudgingly help me. Walked into Sam Ash, was warmly greeted by a staff that was genuinely eager to help and learn about their customer. Left the place feeling like I made a great purchase as well as some new friends.
I had a wonderful experience at Sam Ash.Ben(a sales associate ) helped me find the exact guitar I was looking for and he did so with a down to earth professionalism, the likes of which is growing increasingly rare now in a retail setting. A class act! Give this man a promotion or a pay raise!
Took my late brother in laws guitar into Sam Ash on Queens Boulevard to be restrung and serviced. The entire process was great, everyone was courteous and helpful. The customer service agent was spot on, did a great job, and the end result was a beautiful guitar. Thanks Sam Ash.
I was looking for an inexpensive bass and had concentrated on a model from Ibanez. There were no Ibanez basses in the store to choose from. However, your exemplary associate Deja, spent a lot of time with me looking at your on-line Ibanez collection when she came across an Squier Bronco bass that was in the same price range. Low and behold, you had it in a box as yet undisplayed. As the direct result of Deja being as eager to find a bass as I was, I agreed to try it.I bought that bass. It’s been too long since I had the pleasure of dealing with such a considerate, caring and pleasant sales associate. My purchase is a direct result of her efforts. Thank you for having her represent your company. She deserves a lot or credit and praise.Leo Yassy
I literally and intentionally stood in front of a salesman for twenty minutes and he never once acknowledged my presence. All the while he was on the phone. I made my way to guitar center on Northern Blvd and dropped my $9,000+ on production equipment there. So happy I went there instead. As soon as I walked in I was acknowledged and attended to! My new go-to spot for my studio needs. Sam Ash, you will be out of business with that type of employee. You should seriously consider providing your employees with some sort of customer service etiquette class.
Jake was calm and handled my questions well! I haven’t been playing my instrument that long and didn’t know exactly what I was looking for. He helped me patiently and with a big smile on his face. Sufficed to say I will definitely come here for anything musically-related that I may need. I highly recommend this store for any one who plays any instrument at any level of expertise.
I went in to buy a guitar for my son who just started guitar lessons and the customer service was excellent. Ira helped me and was very knowledgeable, taking me through steps on how to care for the guitar down to a good pick to use. I would absolutely recommend this store;especially if you dont know much about instruments.
The salesperson in Sam Ash was very helpful. Not only was he helpful, but he put brand new strings on my guitar and took off a lot of money on my amplifier and guitar. They even polished my guitar and they made sure I was happy with my purchases. They gave me advise when needed. As I told them, I have 4 guitars and with the one I bought yesterday, that makes 5. All five guitars were bought at Sam Ash. I have never bought a guitar anywhere else. The reason being that Sam Ash is always good to me and they know what theyre doing when it comes to instruments. They are the place to go when you need something. In the end, if your happy with something, why change it. I love you all at Sam Ash. Thank you and Gods blessings...
Took me awhile to decide on a particular store in which to make my purchase of an electronic keyboard. Decided on Sam Ash because it seemed more of a place for actual musicians than simply an instrument superstore. The advice and assistance provided me by Kevon Rhule also informed my decision. His help was superb; in fact, invaluable.
Super friendly staff and had more items than imagined. We walked in to buy a guitar for our 5 year old. The staff member helped identify the best possible guitar for her. But also ultimately advised us to get something else as even their smallest guitar was hard for her to handle. Her recommended a ukelele instead and even tuned it for us. Great experience.
We went to Sam Ash to purchase a violin for a child. The young woman who helped us gave us her full attention. She didnt steer us towards the most expensive options, but the ones she thought would work best. She even suggested we wait to purchase, because the child was almost ready for the next larger size and would outgrow the smaller violin in a short time.
Disappointing experience, maybe not a good idea to go there on a weekend. We went there twice with the intention to buy a digital piano.First time, the piano we wanted to test play was damaged according to the sales person. He wanted to ship it back to get replacement, but did not give estimate how long it would take. I actually fixed it by flipping one small switch. I got a oh, thanks, sales guy didnt even want to know how I did it. And I saved them from embarrassment and costs.Second time, my wife actually sold a piano by giving advice and demoing thing (we read reviews and watched videos online) to a couple after being left alone by a sales person whose answer to all questions was not sure, I dont think so etc. Also, in the full 1.5 hrs we were there, nobody asked us if we needed help or had questions. We were ready to spend money. So we left. The store has a good selection of things but the sales people are poorly educated on the items they are supposed to sell.
I went to the Sam Ash Queens Blvrd. From the moment I walked in the door I was greeted with the best customer service! Extremely knowledgeable staff in every department. This store has everything!!!! Great place to introduce your kids to instruments or just come in a chill and play one. There were several customers. Very active store and now they have me.
Courteous staff, friendly and helpful. Willing to let my daughter try multiple instruments without high pressure sales tactics...I highly recommend Javi in guitar repair, and I really like the staff in the percussion department too! Always have a positive experience at Sam Ash in Forest Hills, QueensNever mind the online website, go to Sam Ash to interact with great people! Youll be glad you did!
The store is pretty cool. When I went there with a friend to go buy strings we decided to try a few guitars and they didnt mind so I consider that a cool thing the staff does. Also we asked for help and advice about the strings and the staff member told me a lot about the strings and how I can narrow my search area. I have no complaints for this store, its all good
I was at Sam Ash two different days. First, I had my guitar restrung. As usual it was very fast and the rep had a very positive attitude. This is a free service. Second, I bought the AIKA program for the piano. The salesperson was with another customer which was going to take a while. He took the time to get the item and ring it up, very quickly. I have always been impressed by the people who work for the store. Knowledgeable with a nice way about them. I recommend the store highly!
This place is the freaking bomb!!!!!! I am a music teacher in Forest Hills, and I just discovered this place. First of all, the guys that work at this store are super friendly, supportive and helpful. Javier, the guy in the guitar repair shop is super skilled at fixing instruments quickly and at a low cost! He even taught me what I need to know to do better at keeping up the basses. I would recommend this place (and Javier) to anyone that is in need of some repair or learning on how to take care of your stuff!
Friendly guy helped me pick out strings for my guitar and install them as well.Update: Went in yesterday to get my strings changed and do overall service my damaged guitar. Staff was super helpful and friendly in fixing it up and giving me advice to care for it in the long run.
Great service by Manager Dave. Corrected a defective piano n error in the delivery order by going to get the piano in White Plains NY n delivered to our apartment the same day in time for our Studio Appointment. Then Dave assisted in the hook up operations of our studio recording system. Awesome job Dave.
17 years away from the guitar, and salesperson Matt was just incredible! My goal was a 6 and a 12 string acoustic, Matt and I spent almost 5 hours talking and playing. Prices were incredibly reasonable, and Matt did set-up and new strings personally! I left a very very happy individual. Please dont hesitate, this store is for real!!
To whom it may concern:My daughter and I visited your store on Queens Blvd. a few days ago. The reason for our visit was to soo if there was something wrong with her microphone cable. We had the absolute pleasure meeting your staff member, Eric Cherryhill. Not only did he check our cable for us ( which was broken ) he was more than helpful in choosing a cable for us he took the time to explain the different cables and why the are different. In the course of making the sale and processing our payment I had mentioned how badly my daughter wants to sing and how serious she takes it. He replied that he had a significant amount of experience in the industry. I digress, to make a long story short your staff member, Eric, took his time out to give my daughter very good advice about very important aspects of that industry. He was extremely polite, nice, accommodating, and showed a genuine care about the things he was discussing with my daughter. Just an all around stand up gentleman. If it was up to me he would be named employee of the year. Thank you for your time and your outstanding store.
I was never impressed with this Sam Ash location, and hadn’t been there for a while, but my experience there yesterday changed that. The guitar section of the store has been revamped and reenerized, the selection was impressive and the prices were competitive. The manager there is doing something very right, the salesman, Chris, was knowledgeable and helpful, I came in on a whim with no purchase in mind, but walked out very happy with the purchase of a new Epihine bass!
This place is a pretty neat place from the get go. It was fairly easy to navigate around the place and to find what you are looking for. I came into the shop to get my guitar restrung and cleaned up a bit and Mayer helped me with all of that. He was even helpful enough to find the things that I needed to find, i.e. capos, picks, etc. Would definitely come back!
The band and orchestral staff is awesome, very helpful and knowledgeable. I did encounter a young man in guitars, very honest and helpful and was rung up by a girl from keyboards who was helpful and nice. I love sam ash. Guitar center was a contender when they opened but their people arent as helpful and friendly (generally) no one can beat sam ashs selection
For weeks my 81 year old dad had been asking me to help his get his guitar tuned. I know nothing about this, but I knew I could take him to Sam Ash. I hadn’t been in there since I needed some podcast stuff and they really wow’d me.They spent over a half hour with my dad just to make sure he understood everything and tuned his guitar in the process. We got our product all while feeling like they wanted to help. Not all the staff is warm and fuzzy, but our guy (who seemed like a manager) saw I was completely lost and took care of us without trying to just sell us stuff we don’t need. The team at SamAsh are knowledgeable and experienced music professionals that will make sure you get you to the next step in your audio journey.
I give these two stars to the two individuals who actually helped me but this place isnt good. I went with my friend who sold her guitar as I sold my violin. Despite being told my violin was in phenomenal condition, I got less than her guitar which we both acknowledged had plenty of scratches and dents (It was even crazier to watch them turn around to sell the guitar to a family before doing the repairs they told her theyd do prior to resale). The people who processed my instrument were fast and efficient, however every other employee HAD NO IDEA WHAT THEY WERE DOING! The person who processed my friends guitar had the manager frustrated as he guided him through it (throwing insults at your newer employees when they help people makes them more nervous and IT SHOWED). The individual who checked out our Ukeleles took so long because he was on another screen and constantly messed up the transaction. WE WERE THERE 4 HOURS OK! and he not only managed to get me the wrong products multiple times, he didnt realize he was on a returns not check out. We were the last to leave AFTER closing time. NO BUENO and I feel bad the people who processed my violin may have ripped me off some but at least they did something correct and they did it efficiently. The young blonde guy and the dark skinned girl should run the place on their own from what I can see.
*Sam Ash Forest Hills*Management at this store is disgusting. I’ve come in many times with my husband as he runs an in home music program. I’ve over heard how management speaks to their employees and I’ve had enough of it. The female manager should absolutely be stripped of her title. She has absolutely not one clue how to be a manager as well as the “store manager” Dave. They are disgusting in the way they treat their employees, especially in front of customers. I feel so very bad for these hardworking young employees. Will not be coming back to shop at Sam Ash any longer.
Been to this Sam Ash about 6 times, where only twice the service has been pleasant.Im an audio engineer and their employees stock response was to treat me like an idiot. I bought studio monitors there once and the salesman was pushy and condescending.I went in asking for a price match for an item, and they told said good luck buying that item at that price. When I literally showed them the item, NEW, online at the same price from 5 different retailers. You can say no, but no need to be rude.Ive been to different Sam Ashes around the NYC area, and this one has a majority of rude employees. Take your business to Manhattan.
I live nearby and go here from time to time for small things or to try guitars I’m interested in. Went in looking for a specific sound and they helped me try out about a dozen pedals until I found what I was looking for. Good guys, good inventory, great overall experience.
You might find a good deal on a used instrument if lucky. Otherwise, you are looking at a factory made piece(s)for the most part.As far as a chain music store goes; it is pretty unremarkable. They have your regular name brand instruments in stock, priced high and low.
Went in to trade in a violin for a new one, a size bigger. The manager, who happens to be a violinist, is a wealth of knowledge. She was able to attend to my 8-year olds needs as well as answer my questions and address my concerns. In several other occasions, she has also tuned the violin for my daughter. There may be a wait to see a staff member, but when their staff is with you, they take care of all your needs.
I take my 3 teenage kids there, who have music as a hobby and are in their school bands since middle school. They dont ask to go on Amazon, they ask to go to Sam Ash, our local music.Because it is fun, the service is attentive and knowledgeable. We did not know about microphones and iPhone but we were informed and got what we needed. We hit percussion, live music, guitar section, band instruments and all the Sam Ash folks just let us browse until we needed to find stuff we did not see up front. We left with all we needed, and some extra silly things like Kazoos because sometimes seeing things by walking around the store gives you an idea.,
Let me just say the staff here was beyond generous to me. I drove to this store from long island looking for a specific drum kit. (The sonor martini) this was the only store with one left in stock and the kit is now discontinued. It was a floor model and so had been slightly used, the manager gave me a discount and let me replace all the drum heads for free. Im blosn away with the sound of the kit. Deffinetly worth the travel to this location! They sounded a little busy on the phone but when you actually go to the store you will not be disappointed.
I was looking on how to connect my microphone to a MAC Pro that has line input. I did not want to buy a second sound card. They sold me a relatively inexpensive mixer and gave me a fast lesson on how to use it. They had one to show me but none at the store. They are sending me one at no additional cost. I should get it very soon.
Went in to sell some gear, despite management ensuring I got ripped off on my transaction, the floor staff members are very helpful and chill, especially Matt and Orlando. Matt works in guitars Orlando is a specialist in engineering and live audio so definitely ask for one of them theyre more than willing to help above and beyond.
I enjoy going to Sam Ash to demo out the keyboards and other studio gear, but this one lacks with newer items and seems to focus more on the acoustic side of things. Thats not bad, but the other stores i visited has a more balanced selection of musical products. Also this location aesthetics is sort of drab and a bit lifeless. I feel some modernization is in order. Regardless, I grew up and one time worked for Sam Ash, so Im loyal. I will continue to support this staple in the community!
I was in the process of grabbing off the wall what I needed when a sales rep approached to help me. I asked if they had a different length in the cable I needed. He ended up grabbing the wrong cable completely, which was twice the cost of the cable I was originally grabbing. This left me in a bind because I didnt realize the switcharoo happened until I was already at my gig and it was too late to go back. I ended up scrambling to find the correct cable at the last minute. The moral of the story is if you know what it is youre looking for, get it yourself.
Best resource in the area for musical instruments, supplies, resources... I have been buying here for many years and many of the staff members have spent a good deal of time there, with less turnover than you may have seen elsewhere (such as Manhattan.) Went back recently and the setup is still nice, clean, comfortable to demo instruments, staff is friendly and generally will not hassle you and genuinely helpful and knowledgeable and they have a good collection of a wide variety of instruments, electric and acoustic.
Michelle was excellent went above and beyond to show me the piano and I even bought it but had to pick it up in the evening and it was around 8 pm when went in I was greeted like a royal by full of energy young guys. One of them was even playing the drums which was an amazing live performance at least for me! I wish the energy stays the same always!!! :)
It was a pleasure shopping at Sam Ash. Special thanks to Mr. Andres for being so forthcoming in assisting us while we purchased a Music instrument. Thanks you Andres and team.Looking forward to seeing you again and happily will refer friends for shopping at your store.Have a happy holiday season!Best,S M Asadul Haque
Poor customer service. We arrive an hour before closing, waiting on a price and ready to pay for some other products .While waiting for the price closing time came and they literally threw us out of the store.I’ve been there before and had a good experience, often buying church products.I’m trying a different store from now on!
I went to the Sam Ash store in Queens, NY on Queens Blvd. (7/21/14) to purchase a book I needed the next morning for class. I was told that evening that the book was required for class the following day. The store closing hour is listed as 9:00 PM. I arrived at 8:55 PM and already the store was being closed and no one was allowed in. I asked the woman at the door if I could just quickly come in to purchase a book and she refused.I think it is unfair that if the stores hours are listed as closing at 9:00 PM you should close at 9:00 PM and not earlier. I have seen many stores wait until their closing time to begin locking the door - not before.
I went in with a Budget in mind and I didnt feel pressured at all to make a decision. I traded in my LX1E for a Taylor 214ce Koa and Im convinced this is my lifetime guitar. Thank you Harold Alva and thank you Sam Ash of Queens for your great customer service. Best, your customer of 5 years.
Javi is a big reason I enjoy visiting the store. He can fix your guitar and be your therapist at the same damn time!! Thorough, skilled guitar tech!!Guitar salesmen like Ira, who sold me my first guitar as a lil teen, and a new salesman named, Romulo, whos awesome, also make my visits to the store so much fun!!
So disappointed of the stuff over there ... the guy who works over there is a manipulative , he charged me extra 20$ on my credit card because he thought him saying few words to me and telling me that Im gonna be able to learn how play a piano very quick wont let me check my receipt , they put a tag of 149,95$ on a piano and he charged me 168$ on my credit card and he said that he can give me a good deal and can let me have a table and also headphones for 30$ -and he charged me 40$ , well a piano that I purshased for 145$ from amazon I pints 206$ from here .... I will suggest to everybody who gonna go here to check the prices online and make sure to check your receipt because they are a manipulative and they will take your money .....never go back over there
Love this store, very helpful Cris help me a lot dwith my guitar and doing a pedal board, Charles also and the rest, I like how I go there and they all know me and is just more than a store, a place where I have friends that can help me with my questions or with things I need.
Not finding what I need online. Also having problems making online purchases using my Sam ash card says error when I check out had to make purchase at GC instead. Also made a return and having issues get a refund says store credit..I need a refund not store credit... Have to wait three days to see if I get a refund.. Not happy..
As a Christian musician, there is gear that I require for the performance and upkeep of my bass and equipment. Working with a limited budget, the staff at Sam Ash are more than willing to help you, no matter what level you are musically. Its the musicians candy store.

2022-02-25Maybe not the crazy selection youll get at their Manhattan shop, but a solid mix of something for every one and every skill level. But Im rating Sam for their in-house tech, Max, whos been working on a few different basses and guitars from my collection. Now hes my go-to for maintenance, a thorough setup, etc. Solid, solid work, good turnaround and great prices. Nice guy to boot.

2022-06-28The instrument piece I bought made me a very happy person. But it was topped off by the reception and customer service I had in Sam Ash. From the inquiry over the phone, product knowledge, recommendation, visiting the shop twice and finally purchasing to after sale-follow up. It was all exceptional! Keep it up Anthony. Thanks dude!

2022-02-20Went into the Sam Ash in Forest Hills to buy a set of acoustic guitar strings as I had broken one on my guitar. Ive had the guitar for a year or two and have never been satisfied with its playability. The strings have been a little high off the fretboard. The salesperson suggested that I have their guitar tech guy do a setup. This guitar was purchased by mail and had never before been setup. The tech guy, Max, told me it would be a few days as he was very backed up. I told him I was out of town and would have to leave in four days. He assured me it would be ready before I left. Not only was it ready, but it now plays beautifully. I was actually ready to get rid of the guitar before Max fixed it for me. Now, I love it. Thank you, Max and thank you Sam Ash for the wonderful service.

2022-05-24So I purchased a Yamaha Intermediate flute. I thought it was priced well and Richard was extremely helpful. I travel to this particular store because of the variety of sheet music books available for beginners. The staff team are very pleasant and always willing to help you or give you space to search for what youre looking for. Overall, great experience.

2022-06-26I am a beginner cellist and brought my cello to be set up and have guidance in the bridge as well as tuning. Every one in the store is super nice and casual and easy to talk to. The man who took care of my cello allowed me to watch the process and was very kind to me the whole time. Would definitely recommend! :)

2022-03-06Pretty fast & simple! Asked for some fundamental acoustic strings, & also asked if they sold wound round type strings here for my Baritone Uke… they didn’t but, the person who helped me (C. Martinez) was willing to put in an order to be made out to the store. Other than that, understanding & well organized!

2022-03-25I needed to get my electric bass guitar repaired - the nut at the top of the neck broke. I got it back the following week fully repaired and working as new! My interactions with all their store representatives were great.Be aware that the repair guy is only there certain days of the week (I believe Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday), so call ahead to make sure before bringing anything needing repair to the store.

2022-03-08A mainstay in the Music field.Clerks are very helpful and provide excellent service.Wonderful array of quality instruments and you are able to play the instruments and get a real feel for different brands.Prices are reasonable, better brands will be more expensive and that is to be expected.Great place for beginners, amatures and pros !!Parking is an adventure !
