I would recommend this restaurant to the people who want to enjoy Korean style Chinese food, but not the person who want to enjoy quite and eating alone. They had a place for the single person, but the servant was not being really kind. She was never answering to my talk at the first time but started to answer if the talk is needed. The other staffs were pretty kind, but soon the card reader started to not working. This restaurant gave me the most chaotic time when I was paying for my meal... My cards were totally fine while I was staying in the US for about 3 years. Anyway, with one of the staffs help, I finished the payment but still very unsatisfied with the system of this restaurant. But this restaurant has wide space, and large tables for family. I would never visit here alone tho.
I came here for lunch today and ordered from the set menu. I ordered #4 which included some black bean noodles, sweet and sour chicken, a dumpling, corn and a salad! You get a bit of everything, which is what I like. Its the same price as a regular bowl of the black bean noodles and leaves you feeling satisfied. Lunch special is until 3pm. Try it!
The food is good, but I haven’t been back in over a year, after I was treated very rudely by the woman who took my pick-up order over the phone. She seemed angry that I had questions about the menu items. Her English was not good, so maybe that’s why she was annoyed? Or maybe it was pandemic stress, who knows. Either way, I’m still scared to call back, as stupid as that may sound. The aggressively rude way she answered my questions really left me feeling humiliated.I’m writing this review so far after the fact because I just now happened upon the restaurant on google maps, which made me realize that I’m actually still quite upset about how I was treated that day. My family is Korean and we’ve been coming here for years, but I don’t think I’ll be back. Really was a jarring experience…. It’s rare I’m ever spoken to like that. Why be rude to someone who isn’t being rude to you?? So unnecessary :(
Great jajangmyeon and tangsuyuk here. They don’t provide appetizers like most Korean restaurants, only radish pickles, raw onion chunks and kimchi. The portion is pretty big so appetizers don’t really matter. Will definitely come back while craving the black bean sauce noodles.
I have been going here from a young age with my family. I must day I have a lot of memories here. The owners have changed several times, however, there are a few waitresses that stayed. I love their KamPoongSaeWoo (Shrimp) and their Mixed Seafood. Im happy that although owners have changed, the taste of the food is still the same. This is my choice of Korean/Chinese restaurant and ways will be.
I dined in this restaurant once before the covid. The food was good and the portion was enough. However I was disappointed today. These two items on the menu gave wrong information. The noodle took only about four bites, which was not normal like you dined in. Also, the guy helped to order did not give me kindness and patience. He also made me feel that he only wanted to serve Korean customers. Won’t come again!!
They offer great selection for Korean Americans and the food are just like the Chinese Korean Food tjat Koreans are used to back home. Their entree and large dishes are generally excellent. Although Ive not tried all of their dishes, I must have tried at least 20 or 25 of them and they are all delicious. Yes, there are good restaurants in Flushing but not many that I can say the same.
Let me just say that I am half Chinese and have eaten here before and thought this place was good. It has been years though since i came back and oh boy what a change it has been since then. The food had no taste at all and the service is bad as well. I understand that they are Korean cooking Chinese food so maybe they prefer it this way, so ill leave it at that. But the service..., oh my goodness. They would not take out the 4 giant empty serving plates at our table, no serving spoons on food plates ordered. They do not refill the hot tea pitcher. They serve 1 of the soup bowls we ordered and i guess expect us to serve the other. They leave new plates at the side of the table for desert, but not distribute them nor take out the old plates so our table is filled with old plates. Horrid, horrid, horrid. By the way, special mention on the fried beef- dont order it, absolutely no taste. What a waste.
Not a huge fan wanted to try the “black bean noodles” it had no flavor the noodles tasted like ramen. We had an issues with one of items we wanted to exchange it or take it back but the owner was a little rude. So we had to pay for something we didn’t eat.UPDATE DONT WASTE YOUR TIME RESEARCH AND FIND BETTER KOREAN FOOD!!!!!Sb:20.99 for the chicken we didn’t eat( my friend ate one piece and disliked it)
The quality of service and food has been decreased over the years. A lot of people from the Korean communities knew this place was not up to par.Recently, I had to visit this place. The reviews have been updated and the food quality has gone up. The service has gotten better.I would say a significant improvement since 2007 - last time I visited.
Ive been eating here since middle school and over the years I have noticed that taste is consistent for the most part but the manager/owner has no understanding of customer service. He needs to change his attitude.Best dishes - noodles with sea food brown sauce, noodles with sea food soup, noodles with crabs chop suey soup, sea food fried rice, rice with mixed sea food, fried crabs with spicy sauce, and mixed vegetables/pork /starch noodles. Their tangsooyook not worth getting - too little care in how they put together this dish when in Korea its a signature dish in any Korean/Chinese restaurant. meat not even seasoned.update 3/6/2020 - tangsooyook worse and worse. tastes like oily sponge. not crispy at all and broccoli in the sauce might as well be raw. never ordering again. also their fried dumplings terrible- instead of crispy, tough and chewy with very little filling. they dont even put in chives.
Wow. I havent been here in like 10 years (I always order delivery)When did they get so fancy?I had their Jjajangmyun (good) the spicy pepper and steak (good) the clams with noodles (great) and dumplings (awesome very hot I burnt the roof of my mouth had to recoup and ate all the other dumplings)This place is like an institution now its been around so long. If you havent been in a whilr go check it out again.
My favorite place to eat the black noodle in the entire NYC. The seafood noodle soup is also a favorite however, I tried their Lunch Set today for the first time. AVOID IT! The black noodle in the lunch set is old, clumpy and mushy. I was in a state of disbelief. I am still shock writing this. What are they thinking slumming the quality of their food from a five star noodle to one? Why would anyone gamble their reputation like this?
I came here once about 5 years ago and I really liked it. I remember getting the sweet and sour fried pork and jjajangmyun and it was amazing. I came here a second time yesterday and I got the seafood jjajangmyun and I still really liked it. I got it to go and it was packaged very nicely. It came with kimchi, yellow radish, onions and another sauce that I couldnt identify. The noodles and the seafood special brown sauce was packaged separate so the noodles wouldnt get soggy. The jjajanmyun was delicious and super filling that I couldnt even finish it. Overall, this is a good place for lunch or dinner. Its next to the bus stops right on Northern Blvd. and Parsons so its very convenient. The ladies who work there are also very nice. Ill be looking forward to the next time I come here!
Do not come here! They have cockroaches! Waitress was so rude. She said sorry. And that’s it. Then she mentioned they did pest control. So what.. obviously they don’t want to spend that much money on it... at least they shouldn’t have cockroaches climbing on the table! So disgusting!
Growing up this was the spot that my family would come to for family gatherings. A lot has changed since then and not all for the better. They updated the decor significantly and made it look at lot more modern. At the same time the theme doesnt particularly tailor towards a particular theme. This place has never had good jjajangmyun but their jjambbong and kanpoong shrimp were always the bomb. I ordered the first and the latter yesterday and was extremely disappointed. The jjajangmyun was under salted and the noodles were overcooked. In addition, the shrimp had a not so fresh taste that permeated my palette. I didnt even deign to finish my plate and left unsatisfied.I understand that there are independence movement festivities going on but allowing a whole troupe of drum and instrument players to walk around the restaurant while Im trying to enjoy my meal? I was frustrated at how I couldnt talk to my friend. The ambience was ruined and my meal experience was exacerbated by my inability to converse.
When I first started eating Korean Chinese 30+ years ago this location was it , and then I moved to Long Island and they opened their location in Bayside and took this locations chef I went there. Last Wednesday 7/27 I ate at the Bayside location and found the basic foods lacking, I came back to this location and food the dishes much better than Bayside location. So now I will have to travel further into Queens from Long Island after 30+ years. Sigh...back to square one.
I order beef Jajang Myun because I have an allergy to pork.I have been going to this restaurant for nearly 30 years since they were in Elmhurst.I never had a problem but today, they got me pork jjajangmyeon and I called to get exchanged and told them I have an allergy. They said they sent me beef and they wouldnt care if I get an allergic reaction after I eat this. How great service. I upload a photo of what they sent me. It is PORK. This does not look like a diced beef. I even asked my son to taste them. I would do anything and everything to let them learn how to deal with customers medical matter instead of telling customer. What if I get an allergy reaction and go to hospital? Doesnt matter for us. This is what this guy said.I am a customer who loved Samwongak. I have an allergy, so I only order uni jjajang, but today they sent pork jjajang. If you said you sent it by mistake, I wont be so upset. I explained my allergy to the person answering the phone, but he said it doesnt matter. Whether to go to the hospital or not. They said it doesnt matter because they sent me a uni-jjajang, but do you see the photos I took? Do you see that jjajang with ground beef? Anyone can see that the chunks of meat are rotten. Im going to take it back, but Im too scared to write a public post. Im posting it because the words to bring it back are meaningless and the words that it doesnt matter are meaningless. Its a situation that can be dangerous if it gets into a persons mouth, but thats not to say that it doesnt matter. I insisted on only the Flushing Samwongak, but the customers know better than anyone about the foods I ate. Man who answered the phone You are in the business of serving food that goes into peoples mouths. Isnt it too much to spit out nonsense like that? What if I eat this and go to the hospital? We dont care.
The pickled radish from Flushing Samwongak has a lot of foreign matter on it. Isnt it necessary to pay attention to hygiene more than anything in these days? I found it after eating some already. I feel really unpleasant. When you eat, check carefully the condition of pickled radish. Foreign matter is also foreign matter, but pickled radish is not fresh and dry.

2022-06-13This place has very good quality Korean Chinese food with reasonable prices.I drove all the way from Boston to for my kids to experience the real Korean Chinese food and my two boys loved it.The prices of each dishes were reasonable too.Parking was very easy as the place has own parking spots on the rear side of the building.Employees seem nice and efficient to serve customers. Our family will visit this place again.

2021-08-20I ordered the Noodles with Vegetable Brown Sauce (vegetable jjajamyeon) and it exceeded my expectations! It had great flavor and the portion of food was so big. I ate around 3:30pm and I write this at 8pm still full! The vegetables tasted and felt so fresh as if they were just harvested. The noodles were nice and chewy. A great quality dish for just $10.99.Once I sat down in my seat, I was given water immediately and side dishes. I’ve had kimchi before and hated it, but the kimchi in this restaurant is amazing and I’m in love with their pickled radish that goes so well with the black bean sauce. My vegetable jjajamyeon came out only around 7 minutes after ordering! So quick for such good food!My server smiled and replied with “kamsahamnida” after my non-Korean self shyly thanked her with the same word. I felt confident and encouraged after seeing her smile.Proof of vaccination is required to be seated and served which is great since they care about the well being of their customers and employees.I definitely recommend this restaurant. I will be coming back!

2022-05-29I had the spicy pork jajangmyeon. That dish was SPICY. I’m Mexican and I eat spicy food but that was one of the spiciest meals of my life. It was delicious and a big portion. The kimchi was very tasty too. If you don’t eat spicy food stay away from anything that says spicy 😆

2020-09-27A lot of the dishes we wanted to order were not available and the dishes that we did get to order were lacking in flavor. They have a lot of seating for outdoor dining so its good for groups at least and they have a parking lot.

2022-05-04My go-to place in the city for Korean Chinese food, especially for their jjamppong. Jjajangmyeon is simarly well made at other places but havent found a better place for jjaampong--pleasantly spicy and savory--after trying many other places for Korean chinese.

2017-01-22Amazing mix of both traditional Korean and Chinese food. Nice decor and casual with beer and soju. The price is inexpensive and good serving sizes are very good.
