Excellent shop, excellent food and the gentleman that served me was a legend too. Chatted about London, chicken shops and life while my order was being created. The fried ice cream was great! Wish I had time/space for more of them. Be aware of the sign saying 1 party at a time. The poor guy had to keep politely reminding people as they walked in. Was well worth the wait for my turn/order. Sams is a must visit in New York - go visit.
This is such an Orchard street gem! The deep fried ice cream snacks are too real here. Love how it’s open late too. Some of the best fried ice cream I’ve had in my life. I really like the service here to their speedy and friendly.Definitely one of the best ways to end a New York City Orchard Street date. 😉 🍦 🌈
Yooooooooo. DO IT! We sometimes drive an hour to the city just to have it. It is perfect deliciousness. Youll never regret it. One day i even got into a fender bender which cost me 200 bucks but it didnt matter as long as i got my scrumptious ball of deep fried goodness with the whipped cream. Ooh baby youre gonna like it.
Best fired ice cream I have ever had without a doubt. I ordered cookies and cream with Oreos as the crust, whipped cream, and powdered sugar on top. plan to go back soon worth the trip.Prices are also very reasonable. What I ordered was about $7. What you get is what would be considered a large cup in most shops.
I had pretty low expectations for a place selling just fried ice cream, but this place blew me away. You have a choice of picking a flavor base (8 flavors), then 4 different crusts (bread crumbs, frosted flakes, ores, and coca pebbles), then the drizzle (caramel, honey, chocolate syrup, powered sugar, condensed milk, etc.). They make it in front of youI came with my sister and girlfriend and we each got something different. I got the cookies and cream ice cream with oreo crumb crust with condensed milk and it was excellent. The crust had alot of oreos on it and the cookies and cream gave it that extra oomph. Good stuff. Ill be coming back next time.
First tried it the Bronx Night Market on this last Saturday! You guys werent in the BX on Sunday due to the rain. So we looked you up online and WA-LA!!!! A-MAZING! The oreo batter and bread crumbs, with cookies and cream ice scream is to die for! Eight different flavors of ice cream, 4 different batters and an great selection of toppings.Small spot, out the way! You will miss the store if you dont know the area. Two people at a time, due to COVID but the speedy service makes up for it!Pls try their desserts! Also try the fries oreos! Thanks Sams!! (IN MY ARNOLD VOICE) ILL BE BACK🤣😂😁
Sam’s is one of my favorite dessert spots in NY. It is very small but the service there is great. My two favorites are the coconut ice cream with the red velvet base, whipped cream, and powdered sugar, and the vanilla ice cream with the corn flakes base, caramel and powdered sugar topping. They have great options and the base price is $6 and certain toppings are an additional cost. For size portion, quality, and cost you can’t beat Sam’s Fried Ice Cream. I highly recommend it.*Note: The base price is going up to $7 starting in January 2020.
Delicious fried ice cream. About $6.50 per cup. You can get different crusts, ice cream flavors and toppings. Honestly I could have shared mine, but we got greedy 😂 half of one of these is definitely enough because it’s really sweet! Still really enjoyed it and would get it again.
Cute little shop with good fried ice cream! I first had it at the Queens Night Market and didn’t know they had an actual store. It’s a pretty good deal for $6 you get your choice of fried ice cream and toppings. Definitely hits the sweet spot and love the hot cold combination with the crunchy and creamy texture. If you check in on yelp you get a free side of fried Oreos so that’s cool too.
Awesome!I wish more people knew about this place. When i went, there was no line. The service was great and the food was awesome. I didnt love the ice cream itself, but the mix between the fried part and the ice cream is just deadly. Sprinkle on some oreo and chocolate and watch out hear attack city. Id die happy
Yummy! Easy to order, just pick an ice cream flavor, what kind of crust you want and a topping. The prep is surprisingly fast too. I got the black sesame ice cream with breadcrumb crust and Nutella topping. Sloooow good! The shop is very small, standing room only but there are two benches outside you can sit on.
The place was clean it was a ok set up but, the ice cream tasted cheap. The breading on the outside had a lot of texture and was nice going from warm to cold and sweet but the ice cream was almost like frost bitten. This was definitely a one hit wounder. The customer service was cool and both gentlemen was friendly and talk to my friends about other restaurants in the area.
How have I not experienced fried ice cream before?! Despite coming in skeptical, I ended up eating probably one of the best desserts Ive ever had in my lifetime. If you havent had fried ice cream and are around this place I recommend getting it. Not only were they accomodating to my nut allergy but they were also nice and the ice cream was delicious! They also give you the option of frying it with oreo crumbs which is absolutely delicious. Making your own fried ice cream is definitely a cool experience as a whole.
Came here one Friday night with my best friend and it was amazing. We both bought 2 scoops.I had the cookies and cream with bread crumbs and condensed milk drizzled on top. So delicious. My friend got the cookies and cream with Oreo crumbs with chocolate syrup was great.
Tried to get in contact multiple times only to be ignored. They’ve added vegan fried ice cream which is very inclusive and great but they refuse to answer whether or not the sugar is refined with bone char, so I’m assuming it is and that the vegan fried ice cream is only vegan without the sugar. Very unfortunate. Only two stars because they are exploring, but they’re just frying vegan ice cream and calling the whole things vegan when it’s not. Misleading. Watch me get a response to this too
I love love love this place. It’s my favorite place to show off I know. Anyone I take is amazed how perfect everything here is. The fried Oreos are great too. I’m just sad. Actually very sad because I mad the transition to Veganism. And I just wish they’d introduce at least one vegan flavor up in there 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽pleassee Sam++++++++++++++++++++ love ASHLEY
Split between two people, my friend and I created our own: cookies & cream with an oreo crust and powdered sugar sprinkled on top. Perfect combination, perfect amount (for two people), and the contrast between the cold ice cream and warm, melt-in-your-mouth crust was perfect.
I’m a bit late on my review but I was there like 2 months ago with my sister and a friend. First off the employees were so sweet and welcoming. Then most importantly, the ice cream was amazingggg. They were really kind to give us some free fried Oreos as well, they were great and I will definitely come back.
Oh my goodness, I didnt know this place existed until very recently when a couple of friends introduced us to it a couple of weeks ago. Amazing! Lots of choices, and toppings. It will definitely satisfy that sweet tooth. Crazy Howard almost feels like youre eating ice cream and pie, needless to say Im definitely going back.
All I can say WoW! So 1st of all, why I personally gave a 5 Star. I enjoy trying new food. I expected a fried ice cream like a Japanese restaurants but this was delightfully different. They do a double batter, fried 2 coats with the outter being a harder shell. Add a topping to already another unique taste and its a five star!
This place has some of the best ice cream in the city at an affordable price. One scoop of ice cream is $3, 2 scoops $4.50, and 3 scoops $6. The fried ice cream is $6 and is a single scoop of ice cream, coated in a crust of the customers choosing, with any topping. Customers have a series of ice cream flavors to choose from including flavors such as: vanilla, chocolate, hazelnut, green tea, and many more. All toppings are either 50 cents extra or free with Nutella being one of the 50 cent toppings.
Seriously the best fried ice cream ever! They have a variety of ice cream choices. They also have a choice of crust flavor and toppings. My favorite is cookies and cream ice cream with orea crust and Nutella drizzle. A cute and friendly place. Definitely would recommend!
Sort of ice cream I used to get in a Japanese spot back in the day but with more options and crispier outer shell. I liked the black sesame the most. The bread crumbs shell is friend to crispiness and a lil drizzle of chocolate completes it. Nice option as this area has become the ice cream central of Chinatown.
Tried them at the queens night market with a friend & it was so good. When we found out there was a stand alone location in Manhattan we had to venture from queens to come & try it. The shop is clean, prices are good alot more options & the staff is friendly. Definitely worth it to go

2022-03-25Delicious and wonderful different take on ice cream, but the shop is only open on Fri, Sat and Sun.The basic fried ice cream is a really big scoop of fried ice cream with a drizzle for $7 where you have 9 flavors (including 2 vegan, $1 extra), 4 crust and drizzle options. They also have 6 different toppings options for an extra 50 cents. They also sell just ice cream by scoop. We had the blueberry cheesecake ice cream and strawberry ice cream with regular bread crust and both of them were really good. The ice cream scoop is first dipped in a thick sweet batter and then crusted and fried in oil. The heat from the frying makes a nice temperature variation as you cut into it which is quite enjoyable and unique. The crust is thick enough that no oil enters the ice cream, keeping it delightfully great.

2022-08-04Love this place I think I rated it before its a hidden Gem in the lower east side of the city with it own set of new restaurant lounges other stores on orchard Street very fun place to go for adults and if children earlier time. so the menu is like steps on how to order you pick the ice cream first then the topping you want around the ice cream which I picked fruity pebbles and they drop it in this huge deep fryer then pick the toppings which they charge 50cents for certain ones. I picked Carmel and whipped cream. All together its comes out over $7. depending how many extra flavors you want. Then if your in there mood for fried Oreos you get 5 of them for for $6. This place is open everyday except Monday and Tuesday also opens at 3pm. I wish there was more of them a place to go for sure.

2022-04-16I will stop by every chance I am near the vicinity. I’ve had their cheesecake ice cream flavors and variety of toppings make coming to their shop absolutely a blast. This time I had their milkshake. And definitely coming back again for that

2022-05-01Here near the corner of Orchard Street & Hester Street lies a dessert shop whose products are rarely encountered. The fried ice cream (like a Baked Alaska) consist of a hot fried crust eveloping a cold scoop of ice cream in its core. The Green Tea ice cream was dense and flavorful. I only wished my plastic spoon was harder. There was some difficulty scooping the ice cream. The breaded crust was not that crispy but complemented the ice cream. The only other thing that was regrettable wa the limited flavors available for the frozen core. (Red Bean or Ube would have nice to have). However I do look forward to coming back here again should the opportunity arise.

2022-08-15Best fried ice cream and honestly some of the best dessert Ive ever had! We found this place by searching for a late night dessert spot open. We decided to try out Sams fried ice cream. You can customize based on what you prefer. I got strawberry cheesecake ice cream with Frosted Flakes as the topping and powdered sugar on top. Its made fresh in front of you and comes our hot and crispy on the outside and soft and cold from the ice cream on the inside. It was such a unique dessert choice and really delicious!

2022-08-22Reminded me of Chi Chis fried ice cream, very nostalgic experience. The flavors are jazzed up a bit now for a more enhanced sugary pleasure.

2022-06-20Great concept for a shop - custom fried ice cream. In addition to regular and various ice cream flavors they do carry a few oat based vegan ice cream options. On my visit I got one of the vegan flavors and enjoyed the frosted flake topping. Excellent and friendly staff/service. Quick turn around. Sometimes theres a line, but thats because one group at a time inside since its not that large of space.

2022-04-21Good fried ice cream - not sure if it is their own ice cream, but it would be even better if it was artisan gelato they used.
