Lived at 177 White Plains Rd in Tarrytown for 6 years and this was our experience: Mice, roaches (HUGE ONES), asbestos in the basement below our apartment, had no gas (could not cook) for 10 months, USPS stopped delivering for months due to Samsons lack of regard for their residents, NO response when calling the multiple property managers through the years for all of the problems. We only stayed there because it was cheap and we saved for a house, the guys that keep the property are wonderful and the only reason i put a review in is to say they were the ONLY good part about living there.
It has been almost 8 months since I’ve moved out of my Samson ‘managed’ apartment in Dobbs Ferry and I have yet to receive my security deposit (not being held for a reason) back. I called Tabitha at the main office constantly and all she did was say ‘he hasn’t given it back’. I finally discovered that this magical person whom she was referring to was Rick Mauw. This guy not only refused to call me back after me being constantly told to call him at certain times, but took the time to search my LinkedIn page to see who I was. So glad to see these people can creep on social media but can’t be bothered to return phone calls, or more importantly, MONEY OWED TO ME. I was told that I was receiving my full security deposit back (since the apt was left in good condition) and that the check just hasn’t been sent out.Avoid this company like the plague. I work in property management and can attest the practices they use here are illegal.
Absolutely no response from management, a Superintendent that shows up two hours late and then leaves in the middle of his task to go back to his apartment to eat a sandwich, while you took the day off of work to be there. If this sounds good to you buy Samson.Mice, windows that don’t open and a terrible attitude. I lived in Chinatown for years and had mice, but Samson went for the gold.Mice all day every day. Management made no response. I don’t mean they said they would do something about it and didn’t. I’m talking they just simply do not even write back.Eventually my wife got so sick of it she took matters into her own hands. She went to clear out the closet to look for where the mice were coming from, fell and knocked herself unconscious. If this sounds like a match to you buy Samson!Called the housing authority and inspector to issue a violation. Still no response. Now we have to go to housing court, get a lawyer and everything other than living a peaceful life. If your rental has anything to do with managers Christian or Driton from Samson stay away. Buying anything from them would just be insane...
If I could give zero stars I would.Since the day we moved in (White Plains NY) we have had roaches, mice, flies, and terrible odor in the hallway and elevator. It took 5 months for the super to give us back our kitchen drawer (that was broken when we moved in).Management ignores your emails, ignores your calls, and when you finally get through to them they are rude, transfer you to someone else, and do nothing to help you. All while expecting your rent on the 1st of every month.Please do yourself a favor and avoid any of their properties at all costs.
Even zero stars would be a too much for these company.i was renting an apartment form them for 3 years. for 3 years any single issue wasnt addressed. fortunately, i didnt have any bugs or roaches (only mice at the end, haha). my buzzer didnt work from the day one.when i moved out i thought the issues were far gone, but no. over two months have passed and i still can not get my security deposit back. they are completely ignoring all my attempts to contact them.
We have not had gas in our building in White Plains for over 2 months and Con Ed resolved their part of the problem 2 days later. We have also had rodents in our apartment on many occasions!! We ask for an exterminator to attend to the problem and we do NOT get a response from them. This management is AWFUL and has HORRIBLE customer service. They have not responded to a single voicemail or email (and we have sent many)! We specifically ask for them to call me back and never even received a response from anyone at the management company! As far as we are concerned, this company has the worst customer service we have ever had to deal with. We strongly advise to NOT move into any of their buildings!
The apartment above mine was recently fixed up and a family moved in. The issue is that, whoever fixed the pipes in the bathroom did not do so correctly. I have had persistent water damage creeping along both my bathroom and hallway walls from the ceiling where the other units bathroom is. We have informed management MULTIPLE times, and they keep saying It can wait or instead take on measures that dont at all solve the problem (such as fixing the toilet upstairs). The problem is the pipes in the wall! We literally hear water DRIPPING CONSTANTLY in our walls everytime the family upstairs uses anything involving water, and it is a family of five. Thats a lot of water coursing through the walls!
Roach infestation 465 shore road long beach. I definitely would not recommend this building or management company. They dodge your follow up calls. Dont take the time to READ what you write to them or LISTEN to what you explain to them. And they charge a unit with no updates the same as a unit that was just gutted and beautifully renovated because theyre in the same line. Rip off. Laundry room and incinerator rooms are always roach infested and overflowing with garbage. Youd think we live in a slum sometimes. Disgusting!
I wish I could give negative 5 stars...Absolutely horrible. We experienced a pervasive mold situation, and management wouldnt even investigate until we vehemently turned away the painters they (begrudgingly) sent to PAINT OVER the mold, rather than address it through proper remediation. Everything about them was incredibly shady, and they eventually admitted to being unresponsive to our attempts at contacting them to have the issue investigated. We ended up moving out and suing. I suggest you do the same!
Please fix the elevator at 765 Amsterdam Avenue. Many elderly live here and with the consistent elevator malfunctions it’s becoming increasingly annoying that 5% of us residents pay above market value while the rest of the 95% are still on rent control. I believe this is the reason that nothing gets fixed and the building feels like a government rental.This should have been explained prior to moving in to this building.
They dont care about their employees. Have to play phone tag with them to get simple issues resolved. Their building 41 kew gardens road, is infested with roaches and they are not doing anything about it. Roaches crawling out of the walls in the hallway, while were paying $2000 plus for living accommodations? The building is old as well. Terrible Management services
One year living on 465 shore road, just found BED BUGS in my sons room!! Thats after living in this apartment for ~10 months.This is a terrible company to deal with, do yourself a favor and pay the extra money to live in a building where things like this wont happen. And when they do, the burden is on YOU.

2022-04-30This management company is non responsive. Our apartment complex in Tarrytown has nice supers, but their hands are tied on so many things because the management company sucks. We’ve had sediment in our water for 18 months on and off, a caving in ceiling, and all sorts of pests including a current baby cockroach + massive cockroach infestation. We’re talking scads scuttling across the kitchen floor/counters/cabinets if you turn the light on at night. It’s disgusting and they won’t do anything about it. They’re trying to raise rent while not responding to all these issues as well.Avoid at all costs!!!

2021-06-28Okay so I have had almost close to minimal involvement with this company but I am leaving a message here anyways. Yeah, that’s how bad it is. Quality of apartments aside (I have never lived in one of them myself), I have tried to contact the management multiple times. First instance involved their actions to increase rent during the covid pandemic (back when the economy was in shambles and no vaccine was out yet). Tabitha from the main office responded to emails in an untimely fashion, and rent increase was borderline unreasonable. The person I represented ended up paying the increased rent. And this was the better of the two instances. Second is a year following that, when I asked if I was able to use my security deposit as rent for my last month of living there: no response. By phone, by email, by anything. They ended up paying rent for that month. Due to complications with their new place they asked if it was possible to live in the apartment for an additional half month (paying the rent correspondent to half a month). No response. This is quite an urgent situation as well because if the company does not respond, they are likely to end up with nowhere to live for half a month. If it weren’t for the lack of time, money and energy, we would have sued them already.

2020-08-04I lived in a Sampson property for 7 years in Long Beach. Any time i had to deal with the building regarding issues with my apartment i got freaked out by the reviews. But honestly, I have not experienced what others have. When i requested maintenance it got taken care of quickly, my super Johnny is the sweetest guy and took care of us, always answered the phone. When i was given a $100 rent increase I was able to negotiate it down. When i moved out, I was able to call the company and request my security deposit back. I got almost the full amount a week later, the girls I spoke to on the phone were so sweet and nice. I dont understand people saying they are being nasty bc when I called or emailed the office I dealt with very nice people. I know many buildings had cockroaches issues and I had seen some in my apartment as well but this is whats happens living on the beach. I sprayed my apartment with a $10 bug treatment from home depot and it was fine. I think many reviews are just crazy people expecting everything to be perfect but that is not the case in building management. Obviously everyone has a different position but i loved my time living at 25 franklin blvd, and have had positive experiences with the management company over the years. Maybe when you learn how to talk to people with respect you get respect back which is what I think is going on here.

2022-04-30Our appartment flooded over New years weekend. No Super or back up available. Samson has yet to reimburse me for plumber I had to call when there staff wasn’t anywhere to found.

2021-09-17I dont understand why this Corporation hasnt been shut down yet. The building I am currently apt living at is infested wit mice and Roaches. And they raise the rent every 8 months for some nonsense. This is truly an injustice. You guys are horrible and pray that this Corporation is shut down before the year is over!

2020-08-20I’m so thrilled I no longer live in a building “managed” by this company. Completely unresponsive when calling with requests/concerns/issues.My former residence at 2 North Broadway, White Plains was horrifically infested with cockroaches and other unidentifiable bugs. There was a period (pre-COVID) where the building went ONE MONTH without a cleaning crew. The elevator regularly broke down and would remain inoperable for days on end. The basement flooded every time it rained. The building was absolutely filthy. There’s asbestos in the walls and doors. And the rent is insane for nothing included. The landlord was utterly unresponsive and everything but helpful. She was a good woman at heart, but could not fulfill the most basic duties of a landlord.Every time I called Samson I was met with such a rude attitude by the receptionist, and after requesting to be transferred to the appropriate person I always met a voicemail and RARELY received a call back.Avoid any buildings “managed” by this company at all costs.

2021-01-04If I could give negative reviews, this would be it. The person who sold me the place told me the place would have a regular amount of roaches, whatever that meant, and didn’t tell me some of the costs upfront so I ended up paying more in a fit of anger. They also told me that people were lined up for the place, pressuring me to purchase the apartment right away. The management was horrible. The place was full of roaches. The vents were all open and cracked and fallen apart. The walls were yellow. I wish I could sue them for scamming me but unfortunately I can’t and I’m just here to warn anyone who’s interested in one of their apartments to run away.

2018-11-08Samson Management is the worse , please do not ever rent from them. Andre Clanagan at Samson Management does not answer emails or phone calls. I have numerous problems that are not limited to dangerous levels of CO2 in my apartment in which he sent contractors to install smoke alarms in my unit. Those contractors he send was the super and the assistant super.. I had bugs in my apartment since August and he lies to his boss about sending an exterminators. He blames the roaches on my neighbors and because they cant get access into the other apartments. I even asked to pay for my own exterminator and get reimbursed and the answer was management will not pay you back. I CAN NOT WAIT TO GET OUT, do not rent an apartment here. This place may look nice but it is not. Management doesnt care about any problems or concerns you have. The laundry rooms are disgusting filled with massive water bugs, the building are filled with mold. The community hallways where the mailboxes are located are packed with trash and massive roaches are crawling everywhere, Management refuses to help and all your complains are filtered to someone else or I get emails from Rick the leasing manger stating “ that’s not his area of expertise”. NO ONE HELPS YOU.
