Samurai Hibachi in other cities:
Update #2: First time back eating here in person again since before the pandemic. We tried to come a few weeks ago (also a Saturday night) but couldnt get in because they were booked. We did a hibachi night tonight (with reservations) and it was as fun as ever and we enjoyed being back. We did curbside takeout through the pandemic, but it just tastes better when its fresh off the grill! Glad theyre still in operation and thriving, so it seems based on the crowd. Do yourself a favor and make reservations or youll miss out.Update #1: Still loving this place years in since we first went in person, and months into the pandemic, during which weve done takeout. Theyre still offering curbside pickup, which is super convenient now that parking is getting harder in the village as more people are going out again. Tonight I ordered and went to do curbside pickup. It was taking a little longer than they had estimated, so the server came out to let me know. When he came out with my food, he also comped me a free sake for my time waiting. I thought this was such a nice touch. Really appreciate that they valued my time and thank them for doing the right thing for their customers! :) This will always be a good business decision!Heres my former review, still valid:We go here for the hibachi every time our daughter passes her TKD belt test. The servers and hibachi chefs are friendly and accommodating. Hubby and I order takeout sushi from here at least once or twice a month. Good selection and theyll even bring it to your car if you call in once you arrive. Good stuff.
We were able to get seated for our 7:30 reservations but there wasnt a chef until 8:30. We had a large party of 13 and the hibachi was not cooked at the same. There were 2 separate chefs that came at 2 different times. So half the table finished eating and then the other half was able to begin.I also didnt like that they were messy with the sake. They have a tacky spray bottle with a boy, urinating the sake. My friends face, outfit, and area were all drenched.Overall hibachi was just ok. The steak was the best. Shrimp was slightly over cooked. They also skimped out on the eggs for the fried rice.We also had issues getting drinks and had an misunderstanding with the waitress and the bartender causing our drinks to be brought out 2x and charged 2x as well.Wouldnt return, there are nicer restaurants in Huntington with better food and service.
I love the drinks and the food. Very happy they have outside seating and good music. I order the Chicken and Stake Hibachi, fried rice... includes onion soup and salad. It was very good. For drinks they have a special, I order the Daiquiri (Pink Lemonade) and Rum. It was in point! Ill be coming back soon! Very good place, great service, reasonable prices, I loved the food and drinks.
Dinner with the wife, who loves these Hibachi places... typically I dont as much... However Samurai was very tasty and the service was great! Perfect fun atmosphere with more of a family focus (folks with kids). Wife did the regular Hibachi and I did a Teriyaki steak, both dishes were perfect. Great spot and we will be back.
Went there for my friends birthday tonight and had a pleasant time until the bill came, the waitress come over with bill and I gave her my card after she brought the book with my card and receipt back she walked away. We were opening gifts and she came to take the Black pay book I told her that we had not finished yet and needed a few more minutes because not everybody got to put their part of the tip in yet, I told her three times that we were not finished and she proceeded to grab it from me and walk out of the room anyway and then come back a minute later and told me that we did not tip her enough and that we need to give her the $40 tip that was recommended on the receipt. It’s very unprofessional to demand a customer to tip more especially after not giving them a chance to even put all the money in!
Food was good. Paid for my meal. Left for a bit and came back for drinks. The cashier claimed It was last calls (he continued to serve people over an hour after he said that).i ordered my drinks, which were pre made. And he had the balls to demand a tip. Food was good, but their waiter got balls to demand payment for no service and pre made drinks
We will NEVER go back to that restaurant again. We just had dinner there and the service was terribly impersonal. They served us along with another family and the chef catered to them, interacted with their kids almost exclusively and treated us as if we were second class citizens. And everyone seemed to have their noses up in the air and the food was not all that good. The fried rice cooked on the hibachi tasted terrible. We were expecting a better dining experience for our boys. Totally disappointed. I do not recommend this restaurant at all.
So this place is Definitely a go to of mine anytime I’m in New York City! Sam is Definitely my go to bartender and you should Definitely stop by the bar if your waiting for a table or just want to grab a drink. The food is really good and the drinks even better! I hope this place is around for a long time coming.
The most mediocre Hibachi Ive ever been to. The chef definitely wasnt up to par with the multitude of other Hibachi restaurants. Food was not even worth the high price and the portions were small. The chef accidentally shoved a shrimp off the area where he was cooking on to the table and put it back in with the other shrimp. The table wasnt exactly clean at this point since it took quite awhile for anyone to start cooking. Really quite a disappointing experience after hearing so many good things.
Nice place, with friendly staff and fun chef. However...when we arrived, we were given a special menu for restaurant week which was a fixed price meal that included a drink, a salad, a choice of soup, rice and meat or fish. Our waiter did not seem at all familiar with this. He did not give us a choice of soup, we had to ask three times for the included drink and when our bill came, there was an additional charge of $2 per person for fried rice. They then tried to tell us that fried rice was extra, although we were not asked and this was not indicated. After some discussion, they removed the extra charge...or rather, they reduced it to $.50 per person. So..good food, friendly people but not so good on the service and communication.
After Reading The Reviews I Was Excited To Try This Place... I LOVE Hibachi & Ive Been To Quite a Few😍 The Atmosphere Is Family Neighborhood Type, Which Was Nice, & The Wait For a Table Wasnt Long At All (For a Saturday Night). My Seat & Plate Were Dirty So I Switched Them Out For Empty Ones. The Chef Wasnt As Entertaining As Ive Seen Before At Previous Hibachi Spots; He Was Just Blah. Now The Texture Of My Steak Was Spot On, But The Taste Was Waaaaayyyyyy Too Salty, As For The Fried Rice, It Was Very Dry & Salty As Well. (Im From Louisiana So I Know Flavor)..... The Waitress Suggested a Sake Flavor, It Was Really Good!!! I Probably Wont Go Back Though For Just Good Sake.
Food was not all that we couldnt sit where we requested because of a leak but 20 min later they sat 6 people there we were 6 and there was a leak 😡 the cook wasnt good to quiet maybe was his off day who knows had to pay cash because they only took cask the guy in the front said so I had to runn and find a atm 😡😡😡😡 never again
Let me start off by saying I spent 20 MINUTES on the phone with this guy and I had to repeat myself over and over again and I honestly just started laughing at a point, then I get there to pick up my order and then they said they thought it was a prank call and I had to wait for my food for another 25 minutes. WHY THE HECK WOULD I SPEND 20 MINUTES ON THE PHONE WITH YOU IF IT WAS A PRANK CALL, anyways I ended up getting my food and the orders were wrong. So, if you ever eat samurai dont order out because its just not worth it👎🏻

2022-04-09Worst hibachi experience I’ve ever had on Long Island. As a party of 12 one of our members was 10 min late due to the lack of parking around the restaurant and they kept pressing us to order before everyone was present. One member of our party has an allergy, his food was brought out 20 min before they even started preparing anyone else’s meal and it was cold. I had to stop the waitress everytime I needed a drink as they would just run past and never even glance at the table otherwise. The chef himself didn’t engage out party at all he simply kept to himself made the food and left. Not a single joke he didn’t throw any silly stuff at my mouth or anything. The chicken was extremely dry as I just assumed I would get sauce with it like any other place I’ve ever been to. We then wanted to order dessert and were meet with a very upset waitress who seemed to want us gone before we even sat down at a table. Again we were a party of 12 and spent well of $500 to feel as though we were being rushed out the door even though they had 3 empty tables behind us. On top of all this they force you to tip 20% because they obviously know they wouldn’t get that much otherwise. I have been to countless other hibachi restaurant on LI and in the city and this by far had the least friendly staff and least entertaining chef. If you have the opportunity to go anywhere else I would skip on this place unless you like being ignored.

2022-06-18While the interior of the hibachi wasn’t super high end (and the music outside didn’t really fit the vibe) the food was quite good, and our chef had a great personality. I had sushi and fried rice, both were made well and fresh.

2017-01-02Went here for a celebratory new years day dinner. The atmosphere was nice and relaxed. We werent pressured to start our order and started with a delicious dragon roll of sushi. The chef was entertaining and comedic. He did the classic bit where the food is tossed up to guests and diners. Also very generous with the sake. After he was done cooking our meal we sat and enjoyed for quite some time. My table ordered a mix of all choices and from it the Chilean sea bass and steak were the favorites. The lobster was a little on the small side for a 5oz portion and may not be best served hibachi. No fault to samurai on that just an opinion of taste. Anyways I will definitely be going again and would tell my friends to take all their dates there.

2022-03-05Got the OMG roll and it was surprisingly good! I usually do hibachi here but was in the mood for sushi. I also got an Alska roll which didnt have cucumber like some other places do. Still good though.

2022-05-23Its a shame that your staff is so pedantic and rude, especially the people at the front desk.

2017-11-07Been going to samurai for years and it consistently has the BEST and freshest sushi on Long Island. I know you wouldnt expect it from a hibachi restaurant but it really is. Their hibachi is great too and you can tell all the fish and all the ingredients are high quality. The owners and staff are very accommodating and nice as well. Tuna Hana roll is my favorite but even regular rolls and sashimi are exceptional and for a reasonable price!!

2018-05-21I really enjoy Japanese hibachi!I went there last week on Mothers Day, and I ordered an assortment of vegetables while my family ordered either steak or chicken (along with shrimp which is really good. I only like some seafood in Asian cuisines like that!) I also ordered a Blue Tokyo which is ok.(The rum is pretty strong so I didnt finish it). We were given soups and salads before starting and I loved that part because its a perfect way to start. The waitress is nice, and our chef is nice!Bottom line: Atmosphere is nice, staff is nice, food is fantastic, just the drink is too strong for me.But I definitely recommend it!!
