I regret giving 5 stars to other places after l had a lunch at San Carlos… this place is A M A Z I N G!Table cloths spotless clean, dishes so rich in taste, wine selection to the roof, the staff so neat and tidy all of the servers perfumed, knowledgeable cheerful and honest. The managers are on top of everything, not micromanaging but making sure everything is in its place…and everything is!Dominico and Leonardo are the best of all! This place is all Italian…real Italian. Come to this place if you want to experience Italia in NYC ☺️Little Italy is 0 to this place ❤️10+ review- you deserve it guys!!!!
Amazing food, service and loved the ambience! My husband and I had reservation elsewhere (19 Cleveland) and we walked out since we didnt like how the host/manager treated us. It was super difficult trying to find a good restaurant with opening and we were thrilled when the host at San Carlos said we could dine at the bar. The service was professional and friendly, and the food was very good. Our server also did a great job.at recommending red wines to us. We had an amazing time and will definitely come back!
Went here for summer Restaurant Week and would definitely come again outside of that. The service was great, the food was delicious, and my friend even decided of the 3 restaurants she visited for this season, this was her favorite. Our dishes included steak tartar with black truffle, another meat appetizer, a special spaghetti looking pasta with black truffle freshly grated on top, branzino fish, and the chocolate flan dessert which is just too good to pass up! Thanks for the lovely meal! Also a plus, the music, general atmosphere, and the staff in general all equated to a great experience.
Writing review from December 5- I really hope they open up again! Food was amazing and the servers were knowledgeable and patient with wine selection. I had accidentally ordered a meal with meat in it (vegetarian) and they were very understanding. The soups were fantastic, can’t wait to return
Ok place.Outside setup isn’t something wow. Food is good, but portions are small for the price. Vitello tonato was chewy, beef tartar 5 out of 5, pasta with rabbit- again, ok but nothing wow. Server was nice, but service in general wasn’t attentive. The brought food without silverware, water glasses were smelly, most likely wiped with not fresh cloth. Service was fast tho. Was it bad? No it wasn’t. Was it wow? Not really. But have to mention that when we told server about water glass they removed water from the bill. So they actually hear what you are saying and want to help this is always a good sign. Overall it’s a good place, but needs work on decor and and a little of staff raining.Come for beef tartar 😍
Pretty good dinner experience at this place. The pastas were really good (see attached photos). Unfortunately I was the DD that evening and I couldnt try any of the wines (Barolos) from the Piedmonte region as that would probably have made the meal even more enjoyable. Worth trying this place if in the area.
At first i had no idea what to get but i decided on the agnotolli and it was delicious. its similiar to ravioli and the meat inside was really good. I had the Grignolino Tenuta for the wine as a recommendation and i love it as well. Also the bread they serve in the beginning was soooo good with some oil. Very good authenic italian food.
Run dont walk. Make the reservation now! The food, oh my goodness couldnt find any better. The pastas. The ingredients. I mean even a caprese salad tasted different. The quality of the mozzarella and the tomatoes.... Any pasta of the menu is simply a food delight a celebration for the palate. I mean the kind that doesnt depend on someones taste. The kind of a fact. Its simply incredibly a must and for more than once. The staff, dont be surprised if you end up missing them as soon as you leave your table at the end of the meal. Nikko, Ramon, the owner... The kindest, funniest and caring people ever. They make it a reitarable moment and not just a meal.
This place was amazingThe place is clean, decent, with high ceilings and captivating decorations that are picture-perfect. The service is quick and reliable. Their food is delicious and reasonably priced. This is my ideal restaurant.I highly recommend this place to everyone.
When we entered this place we knew it will be a great one. We felt like we landed in Rome. Great Italian food, the stuff is very good, smiling and helpful. We ate the lunch menu, worth every penny! Great dishes with fresh ingredients. The best burrata I had in nyc. Loved every bite. The wine is a little bit pricey. Except for that everything was absolutely great.
I hadn’t visited San Carlo Osteria Piemonte for over a year and was happy to see that they weathered the Covid pandemic and continued to offer great food in a comfortable, friendly atmosphere. I had the Vitello Tonnato as an appetizer, followed by a light and perfectly prepared Branzino. Over the years, I’ve been here both on business lunches and dinner with friends and have never been disappointed. Next time you’re in New York, check it out.
By far one of the most outstanding meals I’ve ever had in my life. Took my husband here for his 30th and the entire restaurant treated us like family to celebrate his birthday. The chef prepared such mouth watering norther Italian cuisine, we went back the following night to try the other dishes we didn’t get to the night prior. The risotto with fresh shaved truffles was unreal! The chef came out and took the time to meet us and tell us about the dishes and where his inspiration comes from, which a lot of is from his family back home in northern Italy. The ambiance and staff were some of the best I’ve ever experienced. I wish I could give this more than 5 stars because it deserves all of the stars! Highest recommendation for true New York City authentic Italian cuisine.
Had a birthday party for a friend with 8 guests, everyone enjoyed the food, was pretty delicious. Everyone tried something else so we also tried the whole menu. Was a bit chilly cuz we were sitting next to the door and it’s was one of those 10 degree New York winter nights.
Mother’s Day dinner. Mostly Italian waiters, feels like home for a person like me going to Italy all the time.Food was great but I think truffle was not the best. I guess I know too much good food in Italy so for me was not enough. But everyone enjoyed the dinner and I like the simple at-home atmosphere a lot
We came for our anniversary for dinner with my wife and had a great experience. The host was very nice and welcoming. We didn’t have reservation in a busy Fri night but he found us a table. The waitress Dilek was also great, recommended very good choices from menu. Very friendly , fast , we had a great service. We totally enjoyed the duck dish Dilek recommended. You must try it- delicious!!Overall good food and service. We will come back!
Haven’t been able to stop for a proper meal but by the looks of the dishes been delivered to the tables I should paid a visit soon. What I’ve tried so far is some wine and cocktails, and I’m happy to report that they really hit the spot here, I have a photo of one of my favorite cocktails, the Negroni.Currently I like to have smoky Negronis (Made with Mezcal) but None the less. Great spot to have a proper drink after work or meeting my peers over the weekend.
Amazing food, service, as well as atmosphere. Roast beef was amazing. Ditto the chicken and mushrooms.Update: a swing and a miss... Unfortunately on our 2nd visit food was not what we had expected, the octopus/pulpo was rubbery, the veal was too greasy and tasted very bland. Do order the watermelon salad however it was great.
Fantastic food and ambiance. You truly cannot go wrong with the pastas and the Veal Milanese. I recommend sharing a pasta first and then share the Veal as the main course.UPDATE: At this point, I think I’ve tried everything on the menu and there is not one bad dish. The absolute best Italian food in NYC.
Had a very pleasant experience on an early Saturday evening. We tried the appetizer plate of meat and cheese and it was very good. The small size is fine and had plenty to share for 2 adults and 2 small kids. Then we had 2 different pasta : gnocchi with pesto and shrimp was very good although pesto took over everything but thats kind of expected. The ragu also was good, not exceptional. The service was fast and very good despite a crowded room so nothing to complain about there.
Perfect! I dont know which was better the food or the service. True Italian cuisine, served by knowledgable, courteous, hospitable staff. Everything about my dinner was laudable. EXCELLENT by all standards. In addition, Covid precautions were all in place- it was a clean, socially distanced environment. I look forward to my next dinner at San Carlos.
The BEST food in the city. I’ve had multiple dishes from here, but the service is what makes it memorable because the waitress and waiters take extra attention to the customers, no matter if you are a first time patron or if you’re returning. The attention to detail reflects from the service to the floral arrangement on outdoor seating.I highly recommend the following dishes and drinks for their new menu.Negronis and Aperol Spritz are the excellent to start off with. For appetizers, the meat board is a win (TAGLIERE DI SALUMI CON RASPADURA) and favorite entrees are the tajarin pasta and trout with the vegetables. This place is a MUST.
We celebrated a birthday here with over a dozen people and they were more than accommodating. The service was great and the table they gave us felt very open and flexible for a small restaurant. The food was delicious too. With a large group we were able to try many of the appetizers and main plates and everyone was very happy with their food. The menu has an authentic northern Italian flavor which is a nice change of pace from the Neapolitan pizza craze or American Italian restaurant. Also for the quality and location the pricing seems on point with various options for just about anyone. We would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Wow wow wow! I love this restaurant. The ambiance was amazing and the staff was very courteous and friendly. I will definitely go back. They have great wine choices and the truffle risotto was out of this world. Not to mention our amazing waiter Andrei who was so sweet and knew about everything on the menu. He suggested a great cabernet that went perfectly with my meal. You must try this place!!!
A small but cozy restaurant. We went here for restaurant week and the food was amazing. I started with fried oyster with salmon roe appetizer. I tried squid ink spaghetti for the first time which was very good and the sea bass in it was melt in your mouth type of soft. For dessert I got a frozen white chocolate type of ice cream. Would definitely come back to try their regular menu
My wife and I went to this place in Soho. It was not a special occasion though it became a special occasion. The warm welcome and attention made us feel really special. We were not disappointed. The owner and wait staff could not be more receptive and provided us with impeccable service. The waiter, Ruben, walked us through the menu and wines. The food was delicious, authentic Italian food, no doubt about it. Desert and wine were also appetizing. The price was good and matches the great quality, value and atmosphere that you will hardly find in any other restaurant. I had my favorite Italian dish, pasta with Bolognese sauce, and trust me this place has the best Bolognese sauce I ever had. I am from Long Island NY, and this restaurant is on my to-visit-again list.
So I had lunch here today for the first time. OMG their 2-course lunch is only $15! And the food was very Sophisticated and delicious. You know high end northern Italian food. I seriously think this is one of the best deals in Manhattan where the price of dining out is getting ridiculous. I wish this restaurant is in upper west side where I live. I also had a nice glass of rose for $12. I’m coming back. Definitely.
Oh. My. GOSH. The pasta here is INCREDIBLE! One of my good friends recommended we come here, and she was right. Both of us have some dietary restrictions (we both are gluten free and she is also dairy free), and they easily accommodated us! Everyone was attentive, not intrusive, and beyond kind. I cannot say enough good things about it!
Best European food I have had in New York. One of the few Italian places in the city that has the touch of authenticity. It is Piemontese, so the wine is exceptional. Service is very Italian, which may frustrate Americans who are used to eating quickly, but I found it congenial.
We visited this place as a group of around 25 people. The best thing was the service, great waiters and overall attention. As we were a big group, main courses took a long time after appetizers were served. I ordered the squash soup, it was truly delicious. As main I ordered duck, it was kind of cold and a bit undercooked, this was a shame. I wouldnt recommend for a group as it is a small restaurant and because I didnt liked the duck. I think the problem was that we were a big group and they got overwhelmed in the kitchen but I can tell it is a great restaurant with amazing menu.
Having a long long list of food allergies usually keeps me away from trying new Italian places but I am extremely happy to have wondered in this one. Not only did the owner David truly understand what the ramifications of my allergies were but also was extremely graceful in guiding me through the menu to items that I would enjoy. Both he and Max, the bartender, were always there to explain a dish and make sure I felt comfortable with it. Also the food was insane! It changed how I look at Italian food forever! I will be back soon to fill up in the amazing risotto. I will be recommending this place to both native New Yorkers as well as visitors for the superb food and excellent service!
Best Italian meal in NYC I’ve had so far. As an Italian I feel that the food is quite authentic. Had the rabbit ragù and pappardelle and various appetizers. Love the fact that the restaurant is not the usual Tuscan, Roman, Sicilian etc but offers good piemontese food.
A very bad experience. Arrived for a 9.30 reservation this Saturday and the waiter asked us to wait five minutes at the bar. After having waited 15 minutes, our table was still not ready as the guests were ordering deserts and drinks. After 25 minutes we decided to leave, so didn’t get a chance to taste the food which looked and smelled good. No complements was offered while we waited..
The food in this place is absolutely exquisite! Everything is done with such care and taste, everyone treated us with a smile and they were very charming. Andrei recommended us to an incredible Brunello. I don’t know much about wines but that was the best I’ve ever had. And I can’t tell you enough, get the tiramisu!!
Happened to be in the west village Sunday afternoon. Looking for an Italian restaurantChecked out a couple but stumbled into San Carlos. More than pleasantly surprised. Greeted at the door. Service was top notch. And most importantly the food was excellentKudos to all. Will be back.
Fantastic lunch spot! Great open front in the summer. The food is well priced simple Piemontese fare. Reccomend the burrata! The wine list is tight and authentic, with solid regional Italian selections at reasonable prices. Staff is courteous and attentive, with a casual confidence. So glad we stopped in!
Just okay for the price. We got two glasses of wine, at the end of the bottle so the pours were tiny (barely any wine for $15+). The Waiter said he would come back to refill since we got so little and he never did. For the price the pasta was mediocre.....not a lot of flavor, kind of bland. Not special
I had dinner with three friends this past Wednesday and we all had a fantastic experience. The place is very warm and you can hear a lot of Italian being spoken, it makes you feel you’re on vacation. The place was full and even though we didn’t make a reservation, we didn’t wait longer than 10 minutes to be seated. The tables were close to each other but we didn’t feel uncomfortable at all, it was cozy. We weren’t familiar with the Piedmontese cuisine and our waiter Andrei answered all our questions very patiently and always with a smile. He waked us through some suggestions and we ended up sharing the octopus, the parmigiana, the vitello and the seafood rice cream (which was extraordinary). We also got a bottle of Brunello. As a main dish I had the rib eye, my friends had the truffle risotto, the truffle pasta and the polenta with rabbit and cheese. The presentation was very nice and we were delighted through it all. After that, we couldn’t eat anymore so we skipped dessert and decided to have another bottle of wine instead (worth it). The service was flawless and we didn’t feel rushed at any time. Andrei told us there’s Live Jazz on Sundays so we’ll definitely come back for that.
Cant say enough good things about this sublime little Italian Osteria. Amazing food, great ambiance and superb service from Mirco our waiter from Rome. Second time there and my go to place when I go to NYC. The octopus is a work of art and all dishes really bring our the best of authentic, fine Italian cuisine and creativity. Feels like being in Italy with everyone speaking Italian as well. Alla prossima...Marco R.
Amazing new place in Soho.. great food, nice and cozy ambiance. All the dishes we had, were very well prepare, full of flavors with elegant presentations. It was our anniversary and they celebrated us with two great glasses of Moscato dAsti and the best Tiramisu ever! We will definitely go back for brunch.. Moreno and Enrico great hosts, charming, professional and very welcoming!! 5 stars all the way!
The maitre d met us with a warm welcome and we were seated immediately. It was crowded and noisy, but it was Friday night, too, so that wasnt a surprise. The service was a little slow, but the waiter was attentive. The food was excellent, as was the wine. However, the mood for the evening was severely dampened when the maitre d, who had been so warm in welcoming us, asked us bruskly to give up the table as another group was waiting. We had not lingered (we were there less than two hours and service was a little slow) and we were only just finishing our after dinner drinks. He didnt offer us an outdoor table (the outside was free by then - it was almost 10 pm) and a drink or coffee, just requested us to move on. A disappointing end to what had been a nice evening.
Extremely subpar food.Way too salty, barely warm and low quality ingredients.I had been here once before and found it very disappointing. I didnt realize booking it again that I had been. I tried again once I got there but clearly it just is the worst Italian restaurant Ive been to in NYC.Its not expensive and the vibe and service are very good but I wouldnt come back.
A true Italian establishment. All the staff is Italian and the menu is authentic Piemontese; they even offer a traditional happy hour with bar food served gratis (though not as pleniful as what you would see in Torino, its the effort that makes you feel you are transported there). Modern decor and friendly bar staff make the experience even more comfortable. Being there makes you wish you were fluent in Italian.
Amazing new restaurant on the block. Stellar staff, authentic food, great location, beautiful restaurant.Couldnt ask for better!!!My wife and I had a great evening here.Shout out to Moreno (manager) and Giovanni (server) thank you for making it such an excellent experience!!
I passed by san carlo and was greeted by the very sympathetic waiter who explained the whole menu and convinced me to walk in. Thank god he did. They have a special lunch menu of only $15 for 2 courses thats extremely worth it. I had a burrata as a starter that was very fresh and the pesto pasta that was delicious. Andrei was extremely charming and with a great vibe. Will definetly come back
Dont waste your time or money coming to this place. The food is bland and flavorless. They are overcrowded and instead of maximizing the space for more intimate experiences they stuff every available space with a chair and table. And when I went they moved me to accommodate a larger group without telling me until I got back to my seat. Horrible. Just horrible.
I never rate restaurants, but this high score the restaurant got is making no justice!!!We were sitting on the bar. It took 20 minutes until someone asked us for our order. We ordered 3 dishes.Once we gave our order, we got our first dish after 40 minutes. Then, the second one after another 30. We had to remind then twice. Then after almost two hours, and after we remindd them, they told us that they are out of the 3rd dish. Then we got two more main courses, and got only one. So I just canceled the second one and left. The bartender was completely drunk and missed most of our orders. When we got the check they charged us for another $40 for service (for $115 bill), which of course we didnt pay.NYC has much better offering than this restaurant. The food was Ok, but defenitely didnt worth the wait.
This restaurant is completely ignoring the COVID-19 response regulations, turning a sidewalk into its own outdoor restaurant and dance floor. Tables are packed together with people spilling over into residences Nextdoor. No one is wearing a mask and no one seems to realize that there is a pandemic going on.
THANKS GOD THERE IS ITALIANS IN NYC! went there fot the first time, it was fully booked Lorenzo is a King, the legend at his craft, he tried his best to accomodate us, still was very frirendly, ATTENTIVE, he always asked how was my drinks, how was my meal... everything... the were out of limoncello (thanks to covid) Lorenzo still brought me something speacial and super delicious... everything is top. it is a real italian place.... not a touristic trap.. Bravo ragazzi!
If youre looking for authentic taste from italy, I would highly recommend this place! Though it is out of little italy area, I like this place better than any other from little italy (tried 6 from there). Staff is so welcoming and attentive. Even if I try different cuisines and have developed pretty good taste for different food, I like to ask staff for suggestion to check how good they like their own menu and how excited they are to serve it, and this place didnt disappont me at all! 5 star for service (your glass for water will never be empty, no matter how crowded this place is) and food, its delicious, period.
Piemontes food is among Italys best. This place does a great job with such classic dishes as Vitello Tonnato. Some of the best regional wines by the glass too. The lunch specials and a glass of dolcetto are most often a perfect match and a great way to spend some people-watching time on this active SoHo street.
San Carlo Osteria Piemonte is diamond in the heart of Soho. I highly recommend not only checking it out but to immerse yourself in its Italian roots as you experience exceptional customer service and a aesthetically pleasing and flavorful menu. My family and I agreed that its a restaurant to come back to! From the moment we walked in the door to our selection of the food and wine (which were great recommendations!)— we felt the attentiveness and energy of San Carlo Osteria Piemonte. The owners also took the time to talk to us, joke around, and simply get to know who we were.
I came on a cold Sunday ... Moreno Enrico and Filippo made warm the atmosphere before I took of my jacket....Got a dinner at the bar...Start with battuta Di Fassone...Ravioli Di zucca... and Bonet chocolate pudding...They were asking where the food been... because I cleaned the entire plates...If you are looking for a real traditional Italian food... you must Try... !!!!Have fun..

2022-03-19I can’t explain how perfectly cooked the roasted vegetables and chicken in white wine sauce is and I wish I had taken the photos before I devoured my dish. Delicious bread, beautiful Italian music. Lovely atmosphere. Definitely going to come back!

2022-02-14What a pleasant surprise. An authentic Italian osteria a few blocks from Washington Square Park. The focaccia was very crunchy and fresh. The antipasto I got was tartrà (egg and herb soufflé) with Toma (cheese) fondue and sauteed mushrooms. Ive almost cried for the pleasure. As primo I got homemade saffron tajarin (pasta) con “tonno di coniglio” (rabbit) with lemon zest and rosemary gremolata (which is otherwise made with parsley).Everything was accompanied by a glass of prosecco. Finally, a bönet (chocolate flan) with amaretti. The server and chef are Italian, as it is the owner.Ill definitely come back for tasting more dishes from the menu. Looking forward for my next visit.

2021-04-02Fine dining at its best. I enjoyed everything about this place from the time I walked in. The staff was very friendly and the service was extremely professional and on point. The wine options were great, they carry some of the best stuff. I got to try many different food options and I have nothing bad to say about anything. Everything was freshly prepared, very balanced in flavor and presented beautifully. They are truly top notch. Would definitely visit again for round 2.

2022-07-04The food was delicious! A warm atmosphere, great food, kind service. It’s a great place for a family and there isn’t a lot of noise. Location is excellent near Soho and West Village. The deserts were incredible and the entrees even better. Definitely recommend and will be back!

2022-05-21Not a fan. Ordered Branzino which had a strong fishy scent, scalloped potatoes were not fully cooked, and the fried artichokes were just ok although the waiter had suggested it as so delicious. Definitely not interested in trying anything else from here and my friend agreed. I have to add that the bread and olive oil was delicious and best part of the meal.

2022-02-27Real authentic northern Italian. Love it
