This place is wonderful. I stated here on my my first trip to NYC and I felt so blessed to have found it. I was traveling alone and security was my first priority and it delivered. I ft safe, the room was very very clean(2nd priority), spacious, staff was extra nice and helpful, bed comfortable and there is no doubt that when visiting NYC again I will re-book. Thanks for making my dream a dream😉
Rooms are spacious and well-appointed; ironing board, iron, hair dryer, complimentary toiletries, and glassware in the kitchen. Staff are friendly and helpful, and will fix problems quickly and effectively. Conveniently close to a Bodega, and within walking distance of a metro station.
Reasonable price, excellent location, but the krishna consciousness propaganda was very annoying( Srila Baktewhatevers books, paintings of yoga and what I assume are Hindu gods. The rooms are not numbered, instead they bear the names of Hindu deities and gods. Any preparation or consumption of non-vegetarian foods in the hotel is prohibited. hare krsna
Very professional response for the inconvenience, that being the room double booked, not ready on our arrival, Though the management organized another motel to be refunded also waiting on refund & offered first night of parking free also waiting for refund, Breakfast superb, room clean, nothing was to much trouble considering the fiasco.
Very nice hotel. I will definitely stay here the next time I go to New York.good point● Room sizeIt was an apartment type so it was big enough to live in. It was also clean. The bathroom is also well ventilated. There is a coffee maker in the kitchen, so its a good idea to bring coffee powder with you.● HeatingThe sound was loud as in other reviews, but the warm and strong wind dried the laundry quickly. It was too strong and I sometimes opened the window, but it was comfortable.● BreakfastBagels, fruits, tea, coffee and yogurt were delicious.● Convenience storeThe convenience store across the street had a good selection. I didnt eat it, but there was a service that made sandwiches right in front of me. I thought it would come in handy in America, where there are few vegetables.● ServiceDue to railroads and airplanes, we asked for late check-in and early check-out, but we were flexible.Bad point● SecurityIt may be dangerous for a woman alone because there are few people on the street one step behind the big street. I think its a normal and beautiful town for lunch.

2022-04-11I just loved both of my stays at Sanctuary Retreats NyC. It is a vegetarian establishment with a great amount of space AND a full kitchen and fridge! Some of the rooms have patios attached and some don’t. The feeling when you walk in the door is one of calm. You do need to be independent in your style of stay. Room service is not provided daily, you are given a key and welcomed for your stay, otherwise you are more or less left to exploring. The neighborhood is great! I recommend Zazzy’s Pizza, wolfnights and checking out Coleman Oval Skatepark. Have fun!

2021-12-25Overall good experience. Due to covid entire experience was not attainable but was good. Room needs to be upgraded though. Shower had no pressure and dw door would not latch. Heaters were super noisy and had to sleep with banging and roaring of motor and fan. Otherwise, decent and ok location.

2021-07-01Usually books up quite a few months in advance, but I absolutely love this place. Very relaxed atmosphere and Mario, the manager, has always been very gracious and kind. Im looking forward to the yoga classes.Sanctuary is really the epitome of what the model stay should be for NYC. Rooms are quaint, but very nice by NYC standards and full of amenities usually only found in AirBNBs. They allow their guests the option to work within the local community (weekend food outreach program). If all hotels/retreats were this comfortable and welcoming, AirBNB would be out of business. Also, very fair price. Thats very important. Sanctuary is not gouging customers and hiking prices. The times Ive stayed their prices have been reasonable and affordable for a long stay.If youre just looking to party -- probably not the place for you. If youre looking for comfort and relaxation within the chaos that can be NYC, then youve found your spot to stay.

2020-08-04Im a travel nurse that stayed here during this pandemic for over a month. I throughly enjoyed my stay here. Mario, the manager is very kind and accommodating. It was clean and fully stocked. I felt safe and at home while staying there. I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting an apartment style stay. Close to lots of amenities and transportation. I would definitely return in the future.

2019-12-05Nice place to stay. The Room for five people was big and clean. Includes breakfast & yoga if you want. the atmosphere is really good. You can relax after a big day in NYC. The location is also perfect for a citytrip, you are well connected down/uptown.The rooms were sometimes chilly - but there is one big heater, which is a little noisy. Can’t complain - we would def. recommend a stay there.

2019-02-21Sanctuary Hotel NYCThis hotel is a nice little gem in NYC. The staff were friendly when we arrived. Our rooms weren’t ready when we arrived but we were offered to keeps our bags in a back office while we went to explore. The room is clean and has more of an apartment feel than a hotel. There’s is breakfast offered in the morning and yoga classes too if you’re into it. It is street parking so be aware of the parking rules. Subway is nearby and it was easy to get around

2021-03-02I am appalled that even if you had to cancel due to a covid related matter this establishment and the owner or manager Mario would not honor there own policy! Will never go to this establishment ever again and the lack of communication is unprofessional. I know everybody is hurting in the hotel industry cause of covid but if you take peoples money when they are not even staying at a location and refuse to give back at least half the deposit how are you do you expect people to want to stay at your residence.

2020-09-26If you hesitate to stay somewhere other than home during COVID, rest assure that Sanctuary NYC Retreats is a safe and rejuvenating get away. It not only brought to us a completely safe environment; but also, the space and sense of a calm, quiet, restful enclave we needed to re-energize. We will visit again soon and look forward to it so very much.
