Ive been watching the tours virtually and they are so informative and full of history. The tour guides have been such a joy to chat with live and your able to ask questions ..which usually arent necessary bc they are so full of information. I cant wait for them to get back to their walking tours.
I have been on many Sandeman tours in Europe, so I was excited to see that there was one in New York. I love these tours because you get to spend time with a local, and you get to connect to the place beyond the service. Our guide, Walter, was incredibly knowledgable and personable! I was very grateful that he talked about the Indigenous history of Manhattan and would totally recommend this tour to everyone!
This was a fantastic free tour around Lower Manhattan. If youve been on a Sandemans tour before, youll understand how it works: pay as you wish or through tipping. Most tours operate in Spanish, but there are English tours too. Its a wonderful introduction to the city! Our guide (Zev) was extremely knowledgable and spoke with passion.Tip: Wear comfy shoes and bring water because youll be walking lot.
Weve been to many Sandemans city tours, this one in NY was amazing. A lot of information, and not so much walking as it takes place on lower manhattan. Definitely recommend for everybody! Our tour guide Zev told so many stories and in my opinion provided outstanding service. Thanks ,man!
We had the privilege of doing the tour with Chris SANDEMAN, the founder of the company. I did the Sandeman tours in Barcelona, Paris and now in New York. Each of the tours was recommended, they always seemed very complete to me, the guides extremely friendly, clear in the explanations and with a lot of knowledge about the cities, but doing the tour with Chris raised the bar for future tours that I take. The passion and knowledge with which he guided us was admirable. It caught our attention that he himself continued to give the tours, but when he started talking about HIS city, we immediately realized that he does it because he is really passionate about it and not to comply. The tour was supposed to last 2 1/2 hours, but I had so much data to share about the city that it ended up lasting 3 1/2 hours. People on the street joined in and followed us because the data and the way of telling it was really very interesting. Each one of us who did the tour stayed until the end and I am sure that each one of them would also recommend it. It is an opportunity that should not be missed, there is no better way to get to know the city.Thank you very much, Chris! And see you in Argentina :)
At first our guide Felipe surprised us with his way of explaining. With the passage of the freetour, we were taking the point and the speed of explanation. He gave a lot of interesting information about the city as well as the history of the areas we walked through. In addition, it is very enjoyable for children.
Felipe, has been an extraordinary guide. It has given us enough knowledge to be able to visit the city. The guided tour of the financial district, ground zero has been enjoyable and he gave us enough guidelines to cross the area by ferry, as well as various places to eat, buy etc etc.It shows that he has been in the city for a long time and is known very well.It is highly recommended to sign up for the tour the first days of arriving in New York.thanks philip
About the tour of the financial area: it was not bad despite several inaccuracies of a guide that was not rigorous in the historical. There were also certain opinions or political claims that permeated all his comments. However, what I found embarrassing was the part where he lectured us on what was the minimum that we should pay to attend the tour. It was a crappy and crappy detail that overshadowed everything else.I wouldnt recommend it.
The free tour with Felipe was really good.He told us how the city was born and its history and then we visited the financial district and zone 0.It really is very good to start seeing the city.I have done more than 7 free tours through different cities and the only thing I would say, always to improve, is that it is one of the shortest I have done. It would be great if it was a bit longer!Felipe has an incredible comical vision and tells everything super entertaining and easy. Even when you get to zone 0, he explains it with the deepest respect. Very good guide.
Its an amazing company.I have never seen so much ownership of a person to his work.We did a two-hour tour with Chris Sandeman himself, who was out of this world.I honestly believe that no one can visit New York and not do their tours.100% recommended, without hesitation the best of our New York trip.
Super I recommend the tour to the Sandemans New York cap, it gives you very good types for your visit to the city. The guide tells you the history of the places visited on a walk of almost 3 hours. Comfortable shoes and a drink are recommended to enjoy your ride even more.
Cristina was an excellent and very attentive guide, both on the free tour and on the Brooklyn Bridge, Chinatown and Little Italy. Super recommended. We learned a lot. I leave a photo that we could take thanks to the recommendation to go over the Manhattan Bridge at sunset
Excellent! Raul, the guide provided historical and extremely interesting facts about Wall Street and Downtown. We went through the Stock Exchange on the day the Argentine flag was flying because the Vaca Muerta shares were released for the first time. A lot of emotion.
I was a year ago in New York (end of November 2019). I had Cristina as a guide. The tour was correct, a friendly and close guide. At the end he gave us a sheet with recommendations for our days in the city. I would recommend the tour if you do it with Cristina. Greetings from Paris
We did the FREE tour New York through the financial district. Our guide Cristina was an excellent hostess, very nice, attentive, cheerful and with many anecdotes and information about New York. It was a rainy and cold day and she was very aware of the whole group and that we were comfortable. We give it a 10!Cris and Marta
We did the FreeTour in New York at the end of October and our guide was Caetano. Whenever I can I do tours with Sandemans and this time it wasnt going to be less. It was a super entertaining morning, he told us many facts about the history of NY that allow you to focus on the city. Although the weather did not accompany much was very enjoyable.
Whenever I travel to a city I usually choose the Sandemans free tour in the first few days, it helps you to orient yourself in the city, you will get tips to move better and you can take better advantage of your vacation. On this occasion I did the free tour on my third visit (the previous ones I thought I was going to take time away from everything there is to see but it is not like that) and the truth is that I loved it, the free tour takes you to know the part Lower Manhattan, it is the most difficult to orient (here the streets have no number) and the one with the most history. The two and a half hours fly by, our guide Wilson made it entertaining, enjoyable, with a lot of information about the city, its evolution, its day to day and anecdotes of the places visited, always attentive to answer questions both during and after the end tour In addition, there is enough time to take pictures and it ends at the World Trade Center so I took advantage of the advice to buy the tickets of the WTC Observatory (they go cheaper through them and avoid queues) and at the end I could enter without problems.
The Central Park Tour, the guide, Patricia, does not contribute anything to the tour. This is X, take pictures. Of all the tours I have done it was long, the worst. Now I understand that it is a free tour in which they charge in advance. Two days before we did Midtown with Felipe and it was much better. However, thanks to Patricia, we will not use Sandeman again.
Sandemans tour with Cristina was great. It is essential to do it the first day, because she gives a lot of useful information, with recommendations for restaurants to eat, places to visit, outlets, etc. The tour lasts about 2 and a half hours, and gives you a very good perspective of Downtown.
We did the free tour in Spanish through Lower Manhattan and the paid tour through middle Manhattan. In both, our guide was Wilson. The free tour was good, within which they always try to sell you other products. The paid tour was outstanding. He was with us for almost five hours! We toured places that were not included in the tour, recommending places to eat, applications to buy tickets for Broadway theaters ... A 10 for this boy!(Sorry for the absence of tildes. Consequences of typing from a British keyboard)
Every time I travel to a new place, and if Sandemans offers free tours in that city I dont hesitate to take them. This time, he played New York, and the tour guide was Caetano. Of all the free tours that I have taken with Sandemans (London, Paris, Prague, Porto, Lisbon, Brussels, Amsterdam, and some may leave me) this is the first one I should rate as HORRIBLE. As historical data has been fine, a lot of interesting information about the history of New York. But as a guide itself it is far from outstanding. It is normal for one to know how many members make up their group, keep them together and wait if they need to join. It has not been the case. Long explanation to the historical point and ale that we are going forward. Without looking back. As time went by I saw the reluctance of some members who simply left the group, of which, honestly, I find myself. The Free Tour started at 10 and 12.30, which was when I gave up, we had only gone through Charging Bull, Battery Park, Wall Street and Federall Hall.
On 06/21/19 we did the free run in the areas of Plaza de Baterías, Bowling Green, Wall Street and World Trade Center. The tour was in Spanish and the guide, Puerto Rican was excellent. For their knowledge and the way to transmit it. We had a clear panorama of the city and it served to mobilize us in our stay. We had already done it in Madrid with identical results.
All a little mess. The Tour was canceled once we were at the meeting place. There were 7 people there, plus the guide. As, according to them, we did not reach the minimum, (which is 10 people) the tour was canceled right there. The response from Sandemans was Im sorry. Look NO, Im sorry not because I lost time and money and only for 3 people. Bad organization.
We made a reservation to visit the Down Town of New York with a quota for a visit of 9 people and when we arrived there was a group of about 40 people and what was our surprise that they told us that there were already too many people and that we could no longer make the visit . But if I had a reservation made !!!! What is the reservation system on the web for?
The Midtown and Wall Street Free Tour with Patricia was very good, explained everything clearly and if you had any doubts she would clarify it. You know the city center very well with her, as it also gives you time to take photos in some places. Very good for Patricia!
Disappointing. I made several free and paid tours in several cities around the world with SANDEMANs and several in New York with SANDEMANs and with other groups. On this occasion, I did the tour of China Town, Little Italy and Brooklyn Bridge (paid tour). Out both at the same time, one in English and one in Spanish. The group in English was 8 people. The Spanish group we were 42 (forty two) plus the guide. 42 people in it, already saturated, Brooklyn Bridge is unjustifiable if not for greed. They should have marked the tour FULL long before. The guide (Maria, if I remember correctly) was very grateful at all times and piloted the circumstance as best she could. But the best he could was insufficient because the group was too large.
Our free tour of wall street, world TRADE center, ... was 10 with the guide Cristina!A guide of the real, nice, which is seen that he likes his work, and that he knows what he is talking about, any question you ask him, however strange it may be, he answers it with knowledge of the cause, so it is a pleasure! !The only downside that would put him and it is not his fault is that the previous day it diluted and in the end we joined the two-day groups, but the aunt drives and took it without any problem.Your recommendations of 10!It is very worth it!Thanks Cristina!
The Tour of Chinatown and Little Italy is expensive and they do not give you a phone number or an email to contact the guide in case you have a problem. We lost our Tour and $ 38 for not being able to find the meeting point. Very confusing the junction of the Brooklyn Bridge. The fountain was closer to Fulton than to City Hall Park or the bridge. Impossible to contact them. Disappointing.
I did many SANDEMAN tours and they always turned out to be the best for me, I think in this case I had bad luck ... I was a girl who was just starting and I really didnt have information to contribute about the city. We were 30min and we left because it didnt contribute anything: / a pity

2022-06-01Huge fan of Sandeman tours in Europe, was so excited to see them offered in NYC as well! My wife and I took the free tour with Chris in May of 2022 and were blown away by his knowledge, energy, and ability to make us all feel included in the tour. Will definitely be taking more Sandeman tours in the future - such a treat to be shown around an amazing city with guides who you can tell really love their jobs :)

2022-05-07Fab tour and, particularly, guide. Great insights into downtown Manhattan and its history throughout the decades.Chris is a generous, approachable and knowledgeable guide, whos lived in many other cities across the world. This brings a very global (in the positive sense) flavour and deeper understanding of world affairs into his storytelling, which is also peppered with funny anecdotes and facts about the city. All in all a wonderful experience I thoroughly recommend.

2022-06-13Had a fantastic tour of Manhattan(or Manahata, do the tour to find out). I have been to some of their tours in Europe but this was my first one in USA and I was presently surprised that it was among the best. Chris was excellent in keeping the tour interesting throughout the whole time. Would definitely recommend.

2022-05-08Chris Sandeman was my guide for my free tour of NYC at the end of April 2022. He is an enthusiastic guide that loves New York City. He is so excited to share the sights, historical facts, and views of the city that 2.5 hours just fly by. I totally recommend this walking tour because you feel welcome and at ease with this new friend from New York. On the tour, we could see 911 Memorial, the Oculus, Wall Street, the Charging Bull, the Fearless Girl, NYSE, Battery Park, Federal Hall. Just book your tour and you will not regret it. Chris also recommended a few places to enjoy good food like a local. I really enjoyed his restaurant tips!

2022-05-15What an honour to be on a free walking tour with Chris Sandeman himself after having done worldwide so many of these tours. Chris did not let me down - in contrast! He has so much passion and energy, is very knowledgable and kind. To sum up, an experience which should not be missed!
