My meal was very flavorful. Even after years of being business they have not lost their touch
I order 2 orders of 3 Golpes. And they had a rotten onion🤢🤮🤬. Try to talk to the manager. But he ignored me. I was going to the restaurant to show him. But Im not able to walk. Never again. And I use to order 4 times a week.
I visited this restaurant while in the neighborhood to grab a quick bite. The food was very good and it was authentic. The employees are very friendly and welcoming. I felt very comfortable because they asked for my vaccination card. I will definitely visit again and recommend to my friends! Wonderful place!
They forgot my order of habichuelas and charged me for it. But the food was good.
I tried the pollo guisado and some rice on the side and it was absolutely spectacular. The meat was flavorful and tender and the rice was the perfect addition to absorb all the juice from the meat. I also had some fried plantains as a semi sweet desert and it had a unique flavor. I’m glad I had an opportunity to try it but it just wasn’t my favorite. Although, it was crispy and still warm when I got it and I really think it’s something everyone should experience. I was recommended to try this place by a friend who is Dominican as they do a great job of providing the most authentic Dominican cuisine. If anyone is in this area and wants to try something new I highly recommend you stop by. The customer service was top notch perfection. 10/10 would recommend
The food is outstanding. The service is not. The crazy attitude they catch with your customers when YOU make a mistake is unreal. A simple Im sorry, would you mind paying the difference to correct your order would have sufficed. Instead you proceeded to act like I am the problem. you made me feel like I was doing you wrong. I would be back for food. But your filthy attitude towards customer service is keeping me away. I hope that $3 discrepancy was worth keeping a lifetime of sales out of your restaurant.
I was there for coffee and tres leches. However I found their food to be good except they scimp on the meat portions the serve. Thats not right for the prices they charge. I have eaten in many restaurants they give you hearty portions on meat and rice and beans for far less. I know they are new owners. NewYork have healthy and big appetites, at least most of us that is.
The food is made with love. Very clean and friendly. Rare place due to the quality and choices. I had fish with potato salad. It was delicious. Bathroom was above average clean and plenty of soap and towels. No need to wipe my hands on my pants. Loved it!
I recently visited this restaurant while visiting family and the food is absolutely delicious. The employees were nice and welcoming. They are one of the restaurants in that area that require a mask which is comforting. I can’t wait to come back for the rice and pork!
We were there on my last visit to NYC. First, the people who work there are so nice!! With Covid still causing people to get sick and die, Sandy’s restaurant makes sure everyone is as safe as they can make it. Of course the food is fabulous! They have food already prepared for wick takeout or you can sit down and order. We’re definitely coming back!
This place is amazing and they make you feel safe during the pandemic taking all precautions against the virus. They will not allow anyone in their establishment without a mask or vaccination to spread the virus. Thank you for your service to the community.

While my friend was eating her rice and beans she chipped a tooth with a ROCK that was apparently in the rice. The owners response was to pass by the store so he could check her mouth. DURING COVID 19!!! Absolutely ridiculous. Save yourself a visit to the dentist.
Don’t go to NY as much as I would like these days, but when I do I hit up Sandy’s. Service and quality are always amazing and we love the staff. Last time we were in the city it was our best meal on a 6 day trip

Im a resident of East Harlem/El barrio for 20 plus years, I ordered for the first time from Sandy on Christmas Eve. I ordered a array of the menu items, UNBELIEVABLE, GREAT, AWESOME. Chicken seasoned thru and I mean in and out, Pernil seasoning was awesome, Rice and pea, rice and beans excellent, Pasteles out of this world, Tripe soup I wanted to ride a sleigh out my window outstanding but most of all not salty. I ordered more than I mentioned but Im full from eating. This post is real, and I want to thank Sandys Restaurant for blessing me with great food that enabled me to celebrate Christmas as I should.
Excellent place to go for virtually any meal. Clean polite and courteous what more could you ask for thats right ask for their excellent food Im sure you wont be disappointed

Charging me 6.50 for half a bowl. Asked them to fill it up but refused and said they need to charge more for it. Much better option across the street at caridad where they charge half the price for the same thing

I was visiting from Texas and I wanted toGo because I know good, authentic, Dominican food when I taste it. First, the tostones and mofongo are incredible, easily as good as the best places in the DR. Second, my chicken was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The seafood stuffed chicken and the pork was so tender and delicious I could’ve ordered another plate. Little did I know that the place was famous because someone freaked out about Covid but our waitress couldn’t have been nicer and the place has a great vibe. It’s well worth the trip!

Go across the street to El Caridad. The staff and the food is better.Sandys is a over priced and the people that work there are unfriendly. I made the mistake of coming here because I didnt know El Caridad was open and since Ive stopped coming here pre covid nothing has changed. Save yourself some money and the experience.

I ordered two take out meals from the waitress. My first order from the grill was prepared immediately, the second order was not given to the cook, therefore after waiting twenty minutes, I was informed my order #2 would be ready in 15 more minutes. I should have cancelled everything, but my elderly mother was at home waiting for her order I had promised. I wont visit this restaurant again. I didnt even receive an apology, discount, nothing free to compensate me for the rotten customer service and the first order was cold.😣

Sandys has been so disappointing these last few times, which is such a shame. Tonights terrible service was just it for me. I ordered Shrimp alfredo with spaghetti. Please note they DO NOT even have Alfredo sauce, but yet Im told they do when I called, instead of just saying we dont make that order. In any case they get my order wrong, they argue with me over the phone about it. They send me another order to try to make up for the confusion. But that order was worse. The order came with like two shrimps and pounds of pasta. Last, but not least, then they have their delivery guy take back the first order they sent me!! Oh that was it for me!! Gross and disgusting for a restaurant to collect back food delivered and already opened by the customer!!

Service was minimal at best but you put in your order and get your food. Theres no smile but sometimes in and out service is what one needs. The restaurant is nice and clean, no frills. There are tons of options for stews, rices and fried food. The chicken pastelito was nice and crisp. The chicken had nice flavor but leaned on the drier side. The fried pork ribs had really tender bits of meat but also really dried out parts. The skin looked crispy but really hard to chew. Maybe the stews are better.

Do not go to this restaurant. The food is horrible along with the service. I ordered a #1 which consists of chicken rice plantains and 3 sodas. The chicken was super dry and when I cut it open was white, the rice hard, the plantains mushy and too moist. Along the rim of the sodas all you see is dirt. Then the guy servicing the food was using a rag and no gloves to clean up then went to serve the food yuk (calling NYS department of health) I had to ask him to put gloves on. He had a nasty attitude as well. The empananas that I happen to see and wanted to try, hard, cold and gross. I called to complain and the young man who was working at the register and said his name was Richie said that he ate the chicken and it was good and that no one else complained today. I asked for a refund and he was like nah in a ghetto slang way. Never eat at this place.

Their fried chicken/pollo frito is simply chicken milanese cut into pieces. The chicken was so dried and flavorless. Not worth the $10.
Got food poisoning! Beware! I ignored the grade pending since Ive been there before and I live nearby but I got really sick for 2 days from raw chicken. They used to be okay but everybody getting sick lately.

This place is a joke. Food was terrible. I will never order from here ever again.First time I ordered rice, beans and stew beef. Beef was raw inside and had blood. How do you serve uncooked meat especially stew? The rice was old and hard. And no it was not concon.Second time I ordered roasted chiken with rice and beans. Beans were tasteless and the chiken was super old. Like if they had it in the fridge and try to reheat it. Thats a NO No!Waist of money!😠😠😠

Brought some friends here from out of town that wanted to explore Spanish Harlem. Really bad service, Im taking about staff ignoring you, not cleaning the tables, and taking away your plates before youre finished bad service. If the food were better, the rudeness would be tolerable. Unfortunately, the Octopus Salad was awful and the Lemon Chicken wasnt that good.

I just ordered food from grub hub about 3.5 hours ago. Grub hub tried their best by giving me a a free driscount on my next order. This restaurant not only took my 13$ but also I never got my food. Please read before ordering. I would give them no stars but the lowest is 1. Where do i begin, My order came 2 hours after being ordered. When it arrives the delivery guy asks for more than what was told to me over the phone. When I ask for the receipt he gives me an attitude. On the receipt I see the price was written over my original price. I tell him that the price is wrong and Im going to call the store to verify. He then says you dont want food? Ok and leaves. When I call the store they leave me on hold then when I call back and ask for the manager the guy gets an attitude with me and hangs up. If you want excellent spanish food and excellent service order from Caridad right across the street. I will never order from Sandys ever again.

Oh, so you dont want to go to Caridad next door because they are overpriced and the waitstaff is bitchy? Well, come here where the prices are lower and the waitstaff is slightly less bitchy......with slightly less atmosphere.

Order 2 Cuban sandwiches charge me 8 plus tax for delivery it was cold & looking like a Smashy sandwich from the corner of 103rd I called and told them to sandwiches is cold 🥶 had to drive to the restaurant gave me $15.50 Wendy’s had a better deal I got two meals for 11bucks and it came with drinks. Sad 😞

2022-04-27I was introduced to this place my first few months in the city by a friend of mine. Their roast chicken was really delicious. My friends have come to rely on me as a proficient procurer of high quality chicharrón de hueso. I got a call from one of my elder friends and her daughter-in-law who were driving to the city from the Poconos and the first thing they wanted me to do was order chicharron from the place that I had last bought it for them at. Its a pretty good spot on 125th Street but when they went there what they got was nowhere near as good as what I got for them. Instead of going back to that same spot I recommended Sandy because they are always on point. And Ive been there several times over the years. It was all my friends could do not to drool on the glass. I think that the prices may have gone up a bit but the quality has never been shady at Shandy. If you want to eat in; theres not a lot of space but its well worth the visit. Id give the pernil a B+ but everything else Ive had there has been an A /A+. I also like the staff. Theyre nice and not and rude at all.

2022-07-05I had them cater my son graduation party on Randalls island. The order was over $1,000 but they didnt not disappoint. Food was hot and fresh and everyone enjoyed it. The large trays had so much food. Needless to say the event was a big hit! Thanks for them delivering and for the excellent quality of the food
