The Crème brûlée in Sarahbeth’s is one of a kind!!I have had this desert so many times from Dubai to Paris to Shanghai. This has been the best so far. It’s been long time that I haven’t finish an entire desert by myself. But for this, there’s no way to stop. I was seriously thinking to pack one with me on the way back to Dubai if it wasn’t a 12 hours flight.
Sarabeth is always crowded, but this bakery isnt crowded too much. Sarabeths Bakery is located in Chelsea Market, and easy to buy quality foods. My favorite sweets is butter milk scone and jam and butter. Coffees and teas are also fine too. Staffs response is not so well, but its in Manhattan. I got used to them.
We are frequent customers of Sarabeths and honestly, I’m torn! The food here is delicious, fresh, and incredibly well done but the service is always below par: unfriendly, snippy, and rushed and It has always been this way- as long as I can remember. If you can get past the rude service, then give it a try- the food really is fabulous!
Bad idea coming here. This place is so pretentious and stingy. Awful customer service. Food is insanely overpriced and they’ll charge you extra for the little things. The staff isn’t friendly nor helpful. They treat you like you’re just a number to make a transaction. I paid $2.50 for a cup of coffee and when I asked for them to refill half the cup they said no refills. Don’t know if that’s a general NYC rule but where I’m from, restaurants give you “free refills” to justify charging you that much. Also, we ordered pancakes which was a lot, but it came with one tiny plastic container of syrup. We asked for another syrup and they said it’s $1 extra. The jam comes in a tiny container as well. The egg white veggie omelet was super bland. The cherry tomatoes weren’t chopped up and the veggies were barely cooked all the way, which made it harder to eat and chew. Veggies should’ve been sautéed. Would’ve been nice to include cheese in there to make it more flavorful. It definitely needed to be seasoned with salt and pepper but they’re so stingy about giving you anything. Nothing is laid out for customers to use. You literally have to ask for napkins. It’s so ridiculous for a place that is very reputable and expensive. You would think they’d be more generous with customer service and the quality of their food, but they’re not. They just like to look pretty and cute, but don’t have much substance at the core. Maybe dining at an actual restaurant is better. The take-out style at the Chelsea Market needs improvement.
Going to a bakery I expect a warm scone for breakfast and a coffee. Instead I received a cold dry scone from the fridge and a coffee witch tasted burnt. When asking to get the scone heated they said it wasn’t possible. After a long conversation with the manager they did warm my scone and make a new coffee that tasted like any other. Definitely not worth the time...
I would give -5 stars if I could. Our party of four went for brunch and got there at around 3:30. We were seated and given water. We all knew what we wanted, so we tried to flag down waiters and waitresses a few times. It’s 3:55, and still no waiter. We managed to flag a waitress down, and she said she’d find us a waiter. We had enough, and decided to leave. I don’t recommend Sarabeth’s at all. At least the restaurant we ended up going to had waiters.
This is cheaper, faster alternative to the Sarabeth’s restaurants around the city - and unfortunately, the difference is noticeable. Strongly recommend for takeaway pastries and coffee, but for their dishes spend the few extra dollars and go to their restaurant. The waffle I ordered came undercooked twice (dough still completely mushy throughout...)
Looked like a high quality place to enjoy some fresh food in cute packaging. The anticipation of breakfast was cut short by the absolute rudeness of the two cashiers. They then made fun of me in Spanish thinking I couldnt understand, but I speak it enough to get the gist of the conversations. The food was fresh, bit a bit on the bland side. Needless to say, I wont be back.
I hate kale. They have this breakfast muffin here that contains kale and a whole hard boiled egg in a cornbread. OK, I have to save I loved it. It was sooooooo good, we actually went back a few days later and got another one. It was super filling, so if you plan on eating at a bunch of places in Chelsea Market, split this with someone. We bought our breakfast here and went up to the Highline and ate and then took a walk. I also got cookies here, so light and buttery. My sister got a souffle cake, she said it was so moist and delicious. Now I wished I got a cake too.
A shame. The look and feel of a real bakery, traditional in the good sense, but in reality this place is a trap for tourists or naive visitors of Chelsea Market. I was offered a choice for bread with my (not really excellent) omelette, chose then the sourdough.... was brought toasts made of the most basic and boring yeast bread. When I told the waitress, I believe in a friendly and truly polite manner, they should not name that sourdough, she called her boss... I do not know who that old unfriendly lady was but she pushed whole grain bread at me without even accepting the comment. Clearly not customer friendly and bread quality on the low end of what you find the the average supermarket down here in Europe.Sad experience. Bad image for NYC.
Found it super confusing and stressful trying to figure out what they actually serve here and then ordering it. They actually do have a menu with nice breakfast meals, but theres only two of them at the counter, so not that easy to find when everyone is queued there ordering.Once we found the menus and ordered it was a very pleasant breakfast. The pumpkin waffles are quite delicious.
This is the greatest location to pick SB stuff! I always stalk up on their Parissianne Cocoa. Eat, pantry shop, gift it..this staff is welcoming helpful friendly. With terrific humor. I luncheon weekly at Met location. But the Chelsea Market staff is why I keep coming back.
The food here isnt bad but its very pricey. The service however is terrible. My gf and I came here and there was an ant in her pancakes, crawling around. We asked the waiter to take it back, he waited 15 minutes to come take it and then ignored us for another 10 minutes. Eventually the manager came over and apologized, which was fine except we didnt enjoy our meal. If you want to get a decent meal and pay a lot, feel free to come here otherwise, there are many other options with great service.
Owner herself, older lady, gray hair in clips wearing socks and sandles, Sarabeth? was making sandwiches in full view through the glass bakery with no gloves, wiping her nose with her hands, throwing scraps if food in her mouth, we even saw her take bread out of the garbage and put it to the side for later use? my daughter was disgusted as we sat there eating food we had just bought there. we told the ppl bringing out the orders what we saw and they went and spoke to her, she looked upset and put on gloves, then couldnt work making sandwiches with them on so she ripped them off, threw them out and went right back to not using gloves.... I guess she can do whatever she wants if shes the owner! we will never eat there again!
When I told the cashier I was jettlagged she took this as an opportunity to try and short change me by $3...a totally illogical amount for the amount tendered so it was clearly deliberate. Ironically it was less than I would have tipped. Then the sandwiches were soggy in parts and inedible.
DRY banana bread... Cant finish the slice.. But not as dry as the service.. Said hello to cashier, who looked at me with dead eyes and never replied..this was a stop on my first trip out since MARCH 2020..if every business in NYC was like this, we can kiss a comeback goodbye..
Every time I come here I am told that the kitchen just closed and I missed the breakfast menu, doesnt matter what time or what day, always the same response. One time came at 1:30, got this kitchen is closed nonsense, asked what time they close, got the response 2pm, show the time to the horrendous employee, she changes her answer to 1pm.
Very bad reception. I took a scone. It was very cold and they did not want to heat it while they have ovens. We are sold with so-called jam and butter. But I was given the equivalent of a quarter of a teaspoon of jam. They play on their reputation but I do not recommend going there.
Visited to buy jam that is famous. By size, you can buy jams in sets or individually. There are many different kinds of jams. The price range is quite high but worth the jam. I bought strawberry and raspberry flavors and its really good. It is a different taste from the jams sold in Korea. I would buy more.
There were many customers in the store, so I only bought jam that was said to be famous. They come in a variety of sizes and flavors. And the staff was so friendly. There were so many types of jam, so I asked for recommendations, and he recommended orange marmalade.I think a small size gift would be good as a souvenir :))
A great place to buy jam for gifts.I bought it here because they dont sell jam in Sarabeth in Korea. Here is a variety of jam flavors, sizes and sets.Lets compare the taste of jam with personal tasteThe order of the constellation is Gospel>Sarabes>Bonmaman. The Gospel Jam in Korea is more delicious.

2021-10-13I ended up stopping at Sarabeths when the market opened. Theres very limited places opened at 9am.They open super early and you can sit on the tables outside the shop and eat your food. They do check for vaccination cards. I ordered the iced coffee and chelsea market sandwich which is basically a bacon, egg and cheese on fancy bread. The bread was thick looking but so SOFT, fluffy and chewy inside. I absolutely loved it. It was extremely filling. The eggs were super fluffy. I loved it. The coffee was okayy. Im glad they offered iced coffee because thats my jam.Overall i really enjoyed coming here. The service was kind and quick fast. It was also peaceful.

2022-06-03AMAZING! I must say the staff here are phenomenal. I come in nearly every day for coffee and a bran muffin. These girls are on the ball. Not easy in a market with the same amount of tourists as Times Square. Highly recommend if you need a coffee fix or tasty treat. Thank you for the hard work!

2022-04-01We purchased the cheese stick and the raisin scone. The scone was very cold and no flavor and the cheese stick was just ok. The lady (dark hair)checking us out wasn’t very friendly. As we were grabbing our bag of food from her she was yelling over us asking the next guest for their order. Practically rushing us out of the bakery.

2019-05-07It’s not one of the places I’d return to. Why does anyone even go here? For starters the prices are expensive. What do they make that someone else doesn’t make better and cheaper? I always use Whole Foods as a neutral ground. And it’s not much when Whole Food’s quality and prices are on par or better than some of the foods here.Atmosphere: The bakery is beautiful. Let’s start with that. You get a preview of the team baking beautiful muffins, cookies, breads. They’ve finally added seating so you can watch them bake and eat your food.Service: so lovely and friendly. The team here is so professional and always smiling. They’re lovely people.Food: nothing special with the drinks. The food does have some stand outs but their prices are enough to keep your visit few and scarce. In conclusion I’d rather visit Magnolia which is a few blocks away.

2018-07-04Meh. Could be killer, but its an odd system and not very well managed. My personal opinion - this is a good place for lunch when the lines at the other places are out of control (which they frequently are). The food is decent. Its reasonably quick - gets the job done. Also ok for coffee and pastry in AM.I dont think they meant it to be a stay-in restaurant. There are maybe 20-25 stools around counters and one large table. It seems a little haphazard. But you can order and stay. They call your order # and hand you a tray from around one side of the counter. Its kinda fun to be there when the baking is going on. I think all Sarabeth baked goods come from this one kitchen. Its glass walled, so patrons can see inside.Def over-priced. But then, it is in Chelsea Market. What isnt over-priced? We had pancakes, a pre-made medium sized Greek salad and two lemonades. $34!Last - Im not overly picky, fyi. Not a yelper who loves to find fault. Im generally pretty forgiving about restaurant service.

2020-10-30The most Pathetic service Ive received till now. They have tables set up outside the coffee shop in Chelsea Market. I bought coffee which had limited options first of all with almond milk. I sat down on the chair outside with my coffee, on a Friday afternoon at 2pm, working on my laptop. The server came out and asked me to leave. She said I cant be sitting there working since the other customers cant find seat. There was no other customer waiting.. Only one other table occupied and 3 of them being free i asked her about whos waiting, she did not answer, she went in and sent the owner, who was more rude than her and I asked her on what ground are you asking me to leave? She said I cant sit there and work everyday and shell have more customers coming in next day, which was totally unreasonable. Id never treat any of my customers that way and as a customer never expect this treatment from anyone. Id never go here again and would suggest others to stay away too.

2018-12-15This is a great small lunch place and bakery right in the amazing Chelsea Market. But what is particularly great here are the marmalades jams, delicious classics and new combinations that you never knew you wanted, but still you knew... Strawberry Blood Orange marmalade, Raspberry Key Lime jam, oh I love them with a fresh croissant and a cortado.
