I have bought my beer there since I moved to Chelsea 3 years ago. Today I bought Omega g Three Philosophers for $18.00. I paid $13.99 last week! I called, and the owner told me that they are cheaper than most her competitors which is not true at all and second that her distributor increased the price. I pointed out to her than a 35% increase in 7 days seems outrageous and also that the beer still has the $13 price tag under the new tag so...She finally agreed to refund the $5! I will NEVER shop there again... one word: CROOKS!

2021-10-30The best grilled cheese sandwich I’ve had is located in the basement of Chelsea Market. tucked in a corner, Saxelby Cheesemongers is a small cheese shop serving artisan and farmstead cheeses from America, cured meats, tapenade, jams, some beers, and other dairy products. it is a very small, neatly arranged space. very clean and brightly lit.from open to 5 pm, a short menu of grilled cheese sandwiches is served at Saxelby’s. do not sleep on these sandwiches—especially the “Sal E Pepe” which i think might be best kept secret in grilled cheese sandwich circles! it is called the “Sal E Pepe” which is “Brooklyn Salvatore ricotta, honey, salt & pepper” served warm on delicious crunchy buttery toasted bread. the “Sal E Pepe” is literally spilling warm rich smooth ricotta as you bite into it, the sweetness of the honey punches up the flavor, and the hints of salt and pepper round out the flavors. this is what comfort food that elevates your day is all about. it is quite filling bc of the heavy dairy richness of the ricotta, and the sandwich is totally shareable between two. “Sal E Pepe” — $10.50 + tax—well worth the splurge in calories as It is a simple decadent grilled cheese that is simply delicious. sandwiches are wrapped to-go (no seats in this space) but there are plenty of interior and exterior seating options at Chelsea Marketstaff is quick & efficient. definitely hit them with your qs on cheddar and beyond.

2017-11-08Saxelby Cheese has the must scrumptious selection of American cheeses. I like to grab one of their yummy grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch on the High Line. Plus, I love it that when I buy from Saxelby, Im supporting local farmers and cheese makers!

2019-01-12Very helpful staff and enjoyable experience. They took their time to allow us to sample a few cheeses until we were sure which one we wanted. They definitely seem like they enjoy what the do and know their cheese!

2020-12-26My wife and I both work in Chelsea and we are really making a special point in supporting our local businesses...however, this afternoon my wife went to buy some cheese. She thought that she needed a ticket waiting to be served. She kindly asked the owner of the store if she needed one... to which the lady responded angrily no you just need some common sense, duh!. So nice to hear, my wife left. We just want to support the businesses, we really do not need this attitude.

2017-11-08Saxelby Cheesemongers has the best selection of American farmstead cheese and their new Chelsea shop is a welcome addition to the market! If you are looking for the best of the best, look no further! Grab a wheel of something stinky and delicious, a bit of bread, some salami and a beer or two and you have a meal ready to go! Also, the grilled cheeses are succulent...

2018-04-06Oh my God, THE CHEESE! Its so nice to see Saxelby Cheese, a wonderful cheese shop that Ive known from Essex Street Market for years, in a bigger space at Chelsea Market!Theres so much more lovingly curated cheeses to choose from and other delicious goodies! Theyre carrying all sorts of specialty beverages, the mustache brand of yogurts, condiments, chocolates, gorgeous looking freeze dried fruits, all kinds of cheese accoutrements. Theres a spot to sit and eat right next door to their stall. Its downstairs in the market near the new Fantastic restrooms. Definitely go check it out!

2017-12-29This is an A+ cheese shop owned by kind people who take pride in helping people — really good old fashioned customer service driven by passion. But the really great part? They have yummy grilled cheese sandwiches, and unlike pretty much every other eatery in Chelsea Market, you won’t be elbow-to-elbow with tour groups to get your mitts on one.
