A fine place very welcoming staff an good prices beautiful rooms a great choices for breakfast. Would like to stay there whe we are down in the area.
Nice room, friendly staff, gave us an umbrella to walk down into town. Slightly conservative or dated decor in the rooms, but very obviously updated lobby and public areas.
A great choice of hotel in the area. Small hotel. Similar to smaller hotels in England. The suites have fireplaces. Located on Alfred University. Restaurants, bars within walking distance. Will need Google maps to find it.
This inn has only 2 floors, the rooms are so clean, they give you breakfast in the morning and throughout the day they have a coffee and tea station set up for the guest, there is an elevator and free parking, best part is its on campus so I can see my son who is in Alfred University to spend time with him since I live so far from the university.
Great bathrooms, they include a list of TV channels so youre not helplessly searching for a specific channel, the breakfast was a little lack luster but it did have bagels, yogurt and drinks
Had an amazing experience at the hotels staff were lovely and humble, the room decor and atmosphere was truly perfect, the only complaint was the bland breakfast for what Im paying.
Located in the midst of Alfred University, Alfred NY. Beautiful setting - well appointed rooms. If youre visiting a student at the college I recommend a night there.
All I have to say is if you stay at this place definitely bring your own blankets.. I can personally guarantee the fuzzy top ones are re used after someone stays and they barely ever washed.. steer clear of the food in the free breakfast as well everything you see is reused bagels and toast we used to put them back into bags by hand no gloves.. its unsanitary
The Saxon Inn is a lovely place to stay. The the staff is friendly and helpful, are rooms are clean and comfortable.I would recommend The Saxon if youre in the Alfred area.

Everything about my stay here was lovely! Everything except for the melon at the breakfast buffet, that wasnt ripe, but thats a nitpicky detail.

2022-04-22Simply lovely. Beds feel like sleeping on clouds. Super clean. Easy reservation. Great on campus location. Unbelievably quiet in the rooms. Nice views out the windows. Good effort to provide continental breakfast during pandemic with plenty of grab and go choices. 24 hour hit water for tea or cocoa. Friendly staff.

2020-01-20We traveled to Alfred for a college visit and fell in love with the campus, town and the overall cozy comfortable feel of the Inn. We visited in January and found the rooms warm, clean and with all the amenities needed. The front desk staff was helpful, friendly and so welcoming. We hope to return and look forward to our stay.

2019-05-12Nice optics, but maintenance of facilities could be better. Continental breakfast was lame, old bananas and apples for fruit, packaged, processed Danish, old bread for toast. Pleasant and very accommodating staff though.

2021-04-20This place was not worth the price.. The tub filled up to your ankle when you took a shower. The check in person was not the best for asking questions.. will not stay here again when visiting my son at college

2018-07-07There are very little shops in the area, and they are all mediocre. The beds and bathroom are ok. The keys dont indicate which room number they belong to, which is very confusing. Service is very poor. We had to unclog the bathroom toilet ourselves.

2013-04-19The only complaint here are the very thin walls. The staff was awesome, the room typical, comfortable. The breakfast area very nice. Bagels, danishes, cereals, coffee, milk, juice, toast, fruit, oatmeal, etc. The building and the area is beautiful for this old Florida boy. This is the main/only hotel for Alfred Univ. Very convenient when visiting. But unfortunately the walls are so thin, you know what your neighbor(s) are watching on tv and what they are doing in bed. To the point, next time, if the kid goes there, we are going to look up the road at another place in Alfred Station. Doesnt look as nice, but hopefully quieter.
