I called them after having 2 bad experiences with bike depot and they stayed late to accommodate me and my cannondale. And then rather than selling me unneeded parts they filled my tires for absolutely no charge. Very professional service, and courteous. Stay away from bike depot and drive the extra mile.
If I could give them zero stars I would. I dropped my bike off to be fixed and they said it would be done in a couple of weeks. I went 3 weeks later because I hadn’t heard anything and they said it would take another week..after waiting a solid MONTH and not hearing back I went to the store and Jeff was EXTREMELY rude. He never even apologized for me being without my bike for a month and I insisted I didn’t want it there anymore (it was buried in a storage shed) and I brought it to another bike shop that will have it fixed in ONE day. Never use this place!!
I brought my bike in last year because they had a great offer on a tune up that included repacking the headset and the bottom bracket. The bike was 25 years old and I thought it was a good idea. The first time I called for an appointment the owner said they were too busy and to call back in a week. I did and spoke to an employee who told me to bring the bike in. When I did the owner was there and tried to talk me out of leaving the bike because he was too busy. I told him I wanted the bike done and would wait however long. He asked if anything was wrong with the bike and I told him the back brake was making noise. He called me three days later and said the bike was done. The back brake had been adjusted but the front brake was still loose and the headset had miraculously be repacked without any of the rust on the bolt having been displaced. A week later I rode with a friend who had a chain checker and my chain needed to be replaced. IMHO I was charged for a tune-up that was never done.
Stopped in just to get some info. Jeff and Mike were good to deal with. A father and young son walked in and wanted a bike....less than an hour away from closing and the bike had to be built. At first they said they would pick it up the next day but you could tell the kid really wanted it for the next afternoon. Jeff asked Mike if he could get the bike done and Mike responded We can do anything Jeff told the father to go grab a bite and it would be ready that evening. To me, that is taking care of your customer. The kid was ecstatic.
Just took my first ride on my Raleigh Venture from Sayville Bike Works. I havent been on a bike in over 20 yrs. They gave me the perfect bike! Its a great ride and a perfect fit for me, XS, being so short. Love it!! I will have to visit the shop for some accessories!! Thanks guys really love my new ride!
Ive been doing business with Sayville Bike Works for years. I bought a Mongoose mountain bike here about twelve years ago, and it is still in great shape, after years of frequent use. The owner is very knowledgeable. Sayville Bike Works is the best place to purchase a bicycle or bicycle accessories, and also the best place for having repairs done. Every time Ive come here for a repair, my bicycle has always been fixed within a MAXIMUM of two hours after bringing it in. (On other occasions, Ive been in and out within fifteen minutes!) The service is always very professional and honest. If you are anywhere near Sayville, this is definitely the best place to go for bicycle purchases or repairs.
Jeff and Mike are the best out there. Super fiendly, no pressure atmosphere. Mike introduced me to the Cannondale line of hardtail mountain bikes that they mainly carry. I shopped a few other places just to get an idea of what other bicycle manufacturers had to offer, but when it came down to it I knew my purchase would be from Sayville Bike Works, no one else even came close to the level of service i received from Sayville. Jeff really took care of me throughout the entire shopping process. I will recommend this business to everyone in the market for a new bicycle.
I like the service that Jeff provides. Three days ago there was a rechargeable light, a must-have. It has more lumens than my current Bontrager lamp. The bike was inverted three hours earlier to change a flat before a ride with an SBRA group. The mount snapped off with my gps/cellphone holder affixed to the light. I bought the new, rechargeable lamp for only forty-five dollars after the ride. It is much brighter with a flash pattern that gets your attention. The older light was adapted to a spare mount at home..I shoved it in to fit. Now my Trek has two powerful lamps to get the attention of less-skilled, inattentive drivers. SBW is along the train line nearby and the bus line that runs past the shop in case of a mechanical breakdown. It should be called The Sayville Cycle Triage Unit. Some equipment is pricey and some affordable for the less-financially endowed. I am not that well-endowed, yet a loyal customer. Should I edit that last sentence? Nah, leave it. Someone will be amused.

2021-12-07I am now 37 but I have been coming to this shop since I was 12. Jeff is a legend and his passion hasnt faded in all these years. I went in today to set up building a bike for my Mom. Things have come full circle. Best shop on the Island. Friendly and knowledgeable. This place is an institution!-Anthony

2021-04-22Consider buying online before buying at this shop.I bought a trunk-mounted bike rack from this shop, did not like how it held my bikes (they rubbed against each other), and the owner refused to take the rack back even for store credit although I had the rack for less than two weeks and used the rack only to drive one mile to show him how my bikes fit on the rack. I contacted the manufacturer (Saris). They told me if I had bought directly from them they would have taken the bike back no questions asked.I was able to sell the rack privately for $50 less than I paid, which was worth the loss: thankfully, Ill never have to deal with this bike shop again.

2021-10-03Shopping for a bike... as soon as I walked in, I was greeted by Mike who walked me through my options... friendly and courteous... still considering my options but they get a 100% thumbs up...Listening is the biggest part of customer service..

2020-02-13The owner Jeff is nice enough... but when the part he ordered (and assured me would fit my bike) doesnt fit he tried to make me keep the part and not refund me my money. I convince him that Im not going to keep a part that doesnt fit so he begrudgingly gives me a refund if I cover the return shipping. He then calls me a few days later with a $40 estimate on shipping to and from the store (this is a 4 x 8 rectangular box with the part mind you). But I realized fighting with someone that does business like this is not worth it so I accepted the $40 shipping charge. I would recommend being very cautious when ordering parts through them.

2017-11-21Absolutely great bike shop, I went in for two little valves for my cannondale and left with a wealth of knowledge on how to properly convert my bike to tubeless. Jeff spent at least 20-30 minutes with me explaining the pros and cons and made sure I fully understood what was involved. He took the time to make sure I had the best experience possible. He very easily couldve just sold me the valves and sent me on my way but instead he gave me an education and made sure I had the correct wheels, tires, sealant and every other thing involved going tubeless. Not many businesses go over and above like that but Jeff certainly did. Very cool dude with a very cool shop. Will definitely be back soon!! Thanks again Jeff! Everything worked perfectly
