Authentic Japanese food. Sat at the sushi bar and did the one where the chef decides what to make piece by piece. I enjoyed it a lot. My friend introduced me to this place and I plan to come back. The small cozy place was packed on a Wednesday night but the service was never lacking and the servers were always attentive.
We enjoy going out. Yesterday we went to this delicious place which friends told us about. We spent a delightful evening there with exceptional food and a courteous team and a professional cook. We put this place in our phone list and we shall certainly return soon. We warmly recommend.
Sazan is an amazing place for authentic Japanese food. They have so many menu options that arent typically seen on American Japanese restaurants. They greet you with a warm, scented towel for your hands which is a nice touch. The chirashi sazan is fun to eat as it has a colorful assortment of seafood and sashimi including shrimp, salmon, tuna, octopus, etc. Would recommended asking for their tea! Loved the service and the food
Horrible place! My children had cravings for Japanese food, however, one of them has multiple food allergies, so we had to bring his own food. The restaurant man told us outside food is not allowed even after we explained to him of my sons medical condition. For all the restaurants weve been to, ALL of them became sympathetic and gave us the exception. But the guy was very cold and unmoved. We had no choice but to leave the restaurant. However, as I glanced down to look at my son, I saw confusion and guiltiness in his eyes. He didnt do anything wrong. Why should he/we be kicked out? When I asked for apology, the guy just firmly said, We give no apologies. I will NEVER step into that restaurant again. Im even hesitant to ever go to any Japanese restaurants as they tend to be more hard-headed.
We like the clean food @ this restaurant however have been horribly insulted by the owners for not tipping enough,, The second time we returned they came to our table before taking our order and asked how much we will tip.. To insure proper service comes after the service and we were insulted never to return..I recently sent the owner an article from the New York Times about tip inclusion in Japan.I think they keep the share of tips.Only guessing
Dinner tonight what our family has every week - EXCELLENT in all areas:Kind and helpful staff, incredible food, pleasant & soft music, exceptional help for my Aunt who has severe mobility issues and while we do eat at this restaurant every Mon with a dear friend that lives in Manhattan each week we are met at the door, escorted to table where we find hot towels, glasses of cold water and 2 diet cokes for those who choose that drink...This is truly a delightful dining experience with most reasonable prices.
Its like the feeling of “coming home to Japan” every time! We never have to travel far for good Japanese food anymore—Everything is amazingly delicious and very authentic !!! I love their Kaiseki Omakase menu that we recently discovered that they offer. We go home, already thinking about when we can come back again. Wonderful people with a warm and sophisticated atmosphere—Westchester is fortunate to have Sazan so close to us!For those of us who thought we had to go to Manhattan for Japanese food, we are very grateful that we were able to find Sazan! It was a place that gave me a sense of security as if I had returned to my parents house, and the rice was insanely delicious and all the staff were wonderful. Ive been asked by various customers for recommendations on Japanese food, but its a place where I can recommend with confidence.

2022-06-05Had a great experience dining at this hidden gem. A very real Japanese food at somewhat affordable prices.Tried lot of different appetizers like Sauté Garlic scape, Sashimi, Baked oysters 🦪 ,Eggplant with sweet miso, and pork belly, all amazing one after the other.Very friendly staff and a quiet place to enjoy a good meal 🥘

2022-01-21I have been eating here for more than 20 years, traveling from The Bronx by bus or car to get here. The food and drinks have always been above par (Okay, sensational actually!). I originally started going here because of their sake selections, but their voluminous menu of appetizers, specials and main dishes is incomparable and if youre daring enough, they have their extra-special Japanese menu!Im sorry for anyone who thinks they are too expensive, but this is NOT gas station sushi, as one super-obnoxious reviewer (who shall, deservedly so, remain nameless) on another site stated so snidely, but that is the price you pay for freshly, cleanly prepared excellence!

2022-06-26Will not serve children, most preposterous thing I’ve ever encountered. I’ve eaten with my children in restaurants around the world. Will not patron, arrogant and rude.

2021-12-21The owner who often waits on tables has always treated me and my husband with rude and disrespectful behavior. We always thought, ‘what did we do to be treated this way…?’ yet we kept going back because it’s one of very few authentic Japanese restaurants in the area.Well, today, he yelled at my husband for standing in the hallway (whaaat?!) when he was just waiting for someone to pass. I later went up to the guy to complain about what he did and he eventually ‘RELUCTANTLY’ apologized.I told my friends what happened and to my surprise, they told me that quite a few people stopped going there because of this man’s arrogant attitude. Glad to know it’s not just us. We will be bringing our business elsewhere and will be telling our friends to do so as well. Maybe you should, too.

2021-09-03Strip mall food with Nobu pricing. Horrible service, ok food, small portions and ridiculous price. Since covid, the restaurant has doubled its price for entrees and decreased its portion. There are only 1 wait staff so service is horrible. If you are looking to overpay for mediocre food with bad service, you found the place. If there were negative star, I would have picked it.

2021-01-30Amazing sushi, friendly staff, interesting dishes. The fish is absolutely delicious, and I highly recommend the Goma Ae to start. They have interesting shishimi dishes as specials and so many options. Great for adventurous sushi lovers.
