Offering a restaurant (Smörgås Chef) featuring Scandinavia-inspired dishes, a gift store with fine crafts of both traditional and quintessentially modern Scandinavian style plus seasonal food products from Scandinavia, and lectures, film series, family-friendly events, and more #ScanHouse is New York City’s Nordic HQ, but you certainly dont have to be Scandinavian to enjoy it.
What a delightful meal! Choose just a few appetizers and you will feel completely satisfied. Everything has its own distinct flavor. Its refreshingly tasty! From the Scandinavia House salmon, egg and salad to their delicious soup! I chose the beet salad this time. Next time have some herring with sour cream.Their meatballs and potatoes are mouthwatering!
This is my go to lunch meeting spot. It is always quiet and never packed. The ambiance is calling sit next to the tree is you can. I have always been seated quickly and served promptly. The food is good, on brand, and the portions are just right. The bonus is the candy store upfront. Not your run of the mill sweets either. Some really cool northern European candy.
Love this Scandinavian outpost in Midtown East. A few blocks from Grand Central. They have a great little restaurant that serves great herring, Swedish meatballs and other delicacies. It also has 2 shops that sell fun Items from N Europe. They have concerts at Victor Borge hall that won’t mess up your budget and they are very family friendly like you would expect. It’s a beautiful bldg and very well thought out. Close to the UN and Embassy area on beautiful Park Avenue. One of my favorite places with my daughter and grandchildren. Whoever developed this site did a wonderful job.
Great for kids! They have a really good playroom upstairs and a fine restaurant serving Swedish meatballs. We went there to see a film as part of the international children film festival. They also have a nice auditorium and wonderful programs.Check their schedule and listings and you will not be disappointed!
It’s an amazing place I’m german so I have a connection, however one thing is needed. Lately I went into the shop to order house shoes, I never got them and it has been 2 years, one tip is to be more organized and the other is to be loyal to the costumers. Lately workers have been rude so yeah. But in general everything is great. The food is amazing and the shop too.
The place looks and feels like Ikea, though smaller. We came here for the free special Lego exhibition, which was really neat but small (i.e., very few items on display). There is a small Lego creativity area for kids and kids-at-heart. The gift shop also has a limited amount of items for sale. The restaurant is cramped with too many tables. Prices at the gift shop and restaurant are mid-range.
Nice quiet brunch spot in Midtown. I had the farmers omelet, which came with a nice green salad and a small potato dish that was tasty. Others had the eggs florentine and waffles with excellent bacon. All in all this was a great spot to escape the summer heat and enjoy some good food.
For Scandinavians and those who are curious. Scandinavia House hosts and arrange a plethora of events that celebrate Scandinavian culture, including exhibitions, screenings and performances, café and restaurant; and a market place for sovenier and Scandinavian food items. Inviting and friendly.

2022-03-23This place is absolutely stunning. Visually breathtaking. If you need to take new selfies, COME HERE. Flawless lighting. The workers are all super friendly, helpful, and welcoming as well. Also, if you take pictures from your first visit you can use that to get in for free next time!

2019-02-17It’s a tranquil dinner place to have some conversations with friends. We went for dinner at a busy Friday night and we never regretted. Good Swedish food (not unexpectedly amazing) but the vibe did make it even better.

2019-06-08Really cool little exhibition of Scandinavia tucked away in an unassuming storefront. You could easily walk by without realizing whats inside. Once you step in, youre greeted with an amazing typical Scandinavian architecture thats unrivaled by any other public display in the city. With a restaurant and art gallery on site. Make sure you check the hours for the art gallery as it is different than the restaurant.

They a have a gallery upstairs, a restaurant, souvenir shops straight from Iceland, Denmark, Norway, Finland, and Sweden.
