Im visiting this store more frequently because their staff is always so courteous & knowledgeable on the various things Ive needed. The store has been clean, well stocked, and organized every time Ive visited. It also helps that they also carry some items that other local stores dont carry and the pricing is reasonable. I can not stress enough how helpful the staff has been, especially John the manager. Highly recommended.
Always find what Im looking for . If its a new product they dont have I advise them to ✔ w/ACE TO SEE IF THEY CAN ADD IT TO THEIR SHELF. They have a staff that all know their inventory & they are all very helpful especially the owner.
Everyone here goes over and above to help you with whatever. Always a pleasure and Melissa is just a delight..

Wow, this place is horrendous. The kids working there know nothing. Went in asking for a cleat for a flagpole. “What’s a cleat?” Seriously? They have no personality what so ever and the blonde girl at the register has to be the most miserable person to ever work a job. Go to Glen Head Hardware
I love this store. Ace is a good hardware store. I have found a cleaning product that is not sold anywhere else Scrub-free cleaner. The people that work here are very friendly and helpful. It beats going to Home Depot.
Doesnt always have absolutely everything I need but great to have right down the street for all the little things you forget when you go to the big box stores. Friendly, helpful staff.
I had $10 Ace Rewards and the cashier told me it didnt apply to seasonal. Nowhere on the card or online does it say that. I guess they like to rip-off customers. Wont go there again!
Update on Schaefer’s Ace Hardware. Tried to return a sub-par shovel, purchased on January 9th, never used. The unfriendly, disengaged cashiers referred me to a paper sign stating that per “management”, winter items cannot be returned.We are in the middle of winter. A snow storm is expected tomorrow. The store has shovels in stock and selling them, I have a valid receipt for purchase under 30 days. The mind boggles and ACE should reconsider the ownership of this franchise.I want to acknowledge John, the manager, who had to defend this random management policy. He and Melissa (whom I have praised previously) are always scrambling and running the place.Management of this store is not representing ACE well. They don’t have much competition and there is an underlying disdain for customers at the check out.Schaefer’s has a great opportunity to run the business like a neighborhood hardware store. Unfortunate.Looks like I’m keeping that useless snow shovel
Workers/ sales staff knowledgeable of product needed, how or where it can be used. For me, its like small Home Depot, but much closer to home.Prices are reasonable, I especially like the variety of products sold. They also make keys. 👍

The staff in this particular location is so rude it’s not even funny. No one ever says hi or ever has a smile. Each and every employee looks so miserable it’s ridiculous. You ask a question and they answer you back in such a rude way. I rather drive 20 mins to a Home Depot or go to other local hardware stores. I still get can’t over the fact how terrible the employees treat the customers. Each and every person seems like they hate there job and take it out on the customers. A lot of time the employees will also follow you around, like seriously! One instance the manager had to come to do a return he did not speak one word to me, I said “hi sir how are you and he just kept his head down and totally disregarded me”. Then I asked the women ok should I swipe my card she then says “well yeah that’s what the screen in front of you says!” I said ok I was just trying to make sure sorry I even asked. Management really needs to step in, Glen Cove is a small city and word gets around, a few bad experiences the word spreads around. I have never had such bad experiences each and every single time I have shopped at a store. It disgusts me!

I always find what I need. I bought frying and sauce pans that are name brands. Plus I always find Scrub Free cleaner there too. It isnt sold in most stores anymore.

2022-06-06Im so used to going to Home Depot that I forget about this Glen cove gem. You think Home Depot because youll save a dime here or a quarter there, but youll spend more time driving, wasting gas, and for what?? A Dime!! My average home depot run takes over an hour and I always spend more than I had planned!! Save your money and time! This place has most of what youll need and its right here!! ✅️.

2022-04-11I had to get a copy of my car keys , John helped out , he was great , patient friendly, told me if the first cut of the copy key didn’t work out to come back in he’ll recut it that’s what happened but it all worked out well at the end …John even helped me install the chip or brains of my car keys to the new one . He didn’t have to but that’s what customer service is all aboutThanks John

John went above and beyond to replace my FOB and Melissa kept me informed the entire time is was being shipped. The store is well - stocked and orderly; all the employees are polite and helpful.

2019-09-26Pros: Helpful and knowledgeable staff. Nice selection of products. Cons: Merchandise is overpriced compared to Home Depot. You will be paying more here. Only one register open with antiquated credit card machine resulting in long lines.

2021-10-20The most Rudest manager John. I had keys made returned 4 times because they wouldnt work work they told me to come back and they would refund me II told manager John and he made a scene in the store while there was customers online making me feel like I stole the keys telling me that this wasnt their receipt well guess what John the corporate said that is their receipt you are dead wrong ! You Lost a Good customer and a bunch of others. You should learn to be more respectful to your customers and you must go back and get retrained youre not a manager manager youre nothing

2021-04-22I enjoy going to my local Ace Hardware! Not like going to the big box stores where you get ignored or must search for 20 minutes to find an employee for assistance. It is refreshing to walk into a store and be immediately greeted. The staff is very friendly and polite. If you cannot find something the staff will walk you over to the item. I personally have no patience to search for a product Im looking for otherwise I would just go to home depot. John, the store manager is great, he goes out of his way to ensure you find what you are looking for. He always knows the answers to all my questions and makes my experience quick, easy, and enjoyable. I highly recommend talking to John next time you are here.

2021-04-15So nice to have a local hardware store. I always seem to find exactly what I need without having to travel to the big box stores. The staff is always friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Melissa in Glen Cove spent at least 15 minutes helping me find the exact part that I needed. They also carry a complete stock of seasonal items. Prices are reasonable. No reason to go anywhere else!

2021-10-30Ace Hardware of Glen Cove has it all! The store is always clean and the stock is always so neat and organized. I needed custom plexi glass cut for a window in my house. John the manager was so knowledgable and professional. He made sure I had the proper measurements and cut exactly what I needed. His expertise was so appreciated! He took the time to listen and made sure he understood what I was looking for. Highly recommend Ace for all your household needs! Ask for John!

Yes you may pay a little more than home depot but keep in mind...1 - home depot is a good distance from this store so coming here saves you time. 2 - the staff here will actually help you when you ask for it and drop some knowledge to help you. Sometimes thats just worth the little extra you pay for. Shop local, support your local businesses.
