I have been going to Schallers there since I was 14 years old and the service was always good,last night the service was bad, food was cold(fries) and others was too,there was a fish fry that set there till it was cold,bye the way I am 72 years old now.
Great experience. Food was amazing as usual. I love the onion rings.

Waited over 5 minutes after i walked in and was not even acklowledged. another time the same thing happened when a friend had placed a to go order ahead of time. I arrived 10 minutes after my frends phone order to simply pick up the food... and had to wait a very long time. food was cold when i got hone. fries were still frozen. burger was pink on the inside and i became very ill that evening likely due to food poisoning it was strange because both times i waited for an innaprpriate duration, theywerent even busy! Never eating here again. Same problem at other locations also. just go to Bill Grays
Great place for a quick bite. They have some really crunchy onion rings which were tasty as well as a simple grilled cheese.
My wife and I decided to come here a little while back instead of going to another fast food joint. I had a cheeseburger, which was very good, and my wife decided on the fish fry. Let me tell you, the fish fry, one of the best I have ever tasted. Light, flaky, crispy,... one of the best around. We will definitely be back for that alone.
Do their plate with meat sauce. You dont need to get an extra bun, it comes with one.

Visiting family at the beginning of November and nothing made me feel more home then the rainy cold weather and a delicious Garbage Plate from Schallers. You guys should totally open a Jacksonville Florida location.
I Walked in and the place looked clean. However, the employees seemed very uninterested with there job. The first employee who took my order was speaking really low I could bear to hear what he was saying. Also, another employee wearing a hat with long hair and no hair net, had asked me what my order contained of about 7 times before they finally got it right. Next, I received my mozzarella sticks and they were cold and very hard like they had came out of the freezer. Meanwhile another employee wearing an orange shirt was walking around throwing “air punches”. While cooking my food the employees were discussing how they don’t like to work certain shifts depending on who is the boss at that time. I over heard a conversation saying that nobody likes to work a shift when “Ryan” is in charge. They were very loud and abnoxious as if they were all children who needs a baby sitter. The food was a disappointment but however the staff was definitely horrible and made me and my girlfriend uncomfortable to eat at the establishment. I’m not a Karen but I will not be coming back to this establishment.
Havent been here in over 20 years as I moved away. Had cheeseburger, relish and onions. With meat sauces on side. Sadly..sauce too spicy which seems to have become the norm french fries could have been crisper. They wasted the hot sauce..gave us 3 containers full that almost made a soup bowl full. Kind of disappointed with our experience.
Wow! This place is amazing. The food is always cooked fresh and the young lady who cashed us out was great. We were in town to check out the zoo and this place came highly recommended from an employee of the zoo. We are glad we asked for her reccomendation. Delicious!
Bad service. My boyfriend and I were never asked if the food was for there or to go and they just assumed it was to go. We were also never asked if we wanted our food on a hard roll or regular roll and when we specified we wanted hard rolls they had an attitude about it and the server told the cook they changed their minds and want hard rolls. I ordered a root beer float and 3 of the staff members argued about how to make a root beer float and there was no ice cream in my float and for some reason I was given an extra cup full of root beer. The burgers were good but sweet potato fries were under cooked. Ill never eat here again. The service was embarrasing.
I have been coming to Schallers Ridge Road for years. Always thought that they are making very good food and for affordable pricing. Not always perfect, and I have been here many times. Good place with good people in it.
Extremely disappointed. All most $33 for 2 people to get 2 burgers, fries, deep fried mushrooms and 2 drinks. When asked for toppings both were Mayo, ketchup and lettuce... mustard was put on literally ruining both burgers. To top it off the French fries weren’t even crispy they were sad, droopy, disgusting pieces of potato. The only decent thing was the fried mushrooms and they were average at best. As far as the bathrooms... gross. Smelled horrible and I’m not talking like someone did a #2.... final determination is if you want overpriced wrongly made food then this is your place. Other than that there are other places doing a better job that are priced way better. Will never come back again!!

Born and raised in Rochester. Always went to Schallers. Been I in Colorado for 50 years and every time I come back Schallers is the first place we go. Cant get this food and service anywhere else.
Schallers is my favorite local burger place! The cheeseburger with everything is my go-to burger, and they also have great fries and onion rings. Love their hot sauce, too!
I have been a regular Schallers customer for over 25 years and regret to say I will no longer be a regular. I was charged $13.01 for a whopping cheeseburger on a hard roll, order of fries and small coke. You do not take coupons, you dont give free refills and your burgers are pancake thin! I refuse to pay this kind of money for fast food. Management has consistently raised their prices for the past couple of years for no rhyme or reason. Just to put it in perspective, I can get a charbroiled burger and fries, at a bar, for around the same price.... Completely ridiculous. Not to mention, I dont like how the staff has changed to mostly young kids who look completely out of it when you talk to them.
Excellent quality food and I appreciate the social distancing setup they have. My biggest problem is that the 2 times that I have come to this location in the past 2 weeks the people at the register are taking money and preparing food with the same gloves on. If the register person isnt going to change gloves they shouldnt have contact with the food at all especially with the pandemic going on.

Ive been coming to this restaurant for as long as I can remember. Growing up in West Irondequoit, this was my familys go-to dinner spot! Still great 20 years later
Good cheeseburger, but onion rings were over cooked.
They very rude at night. Called to for a pick up order and they say they are closed when hours on the door and website say 10:00pm
I love my Texas hot with everything! This is their 65th (?) anniversary and celebrating with 65 cent ice cream on Tuesdays in June 2021.
I have to say that Carmines has gone down. I used to love Carmines. The wings burned over cooked oil. The Place not the fresh and clean looking. The only thing I thought was ok was the pizza.
I love this place. One of the few hots places that has employees that actually listen when I ask for well done french fries or onion rings. I see a lot of people complaining that the hot sauce isnt hot enough or it is too watery. I dont get it. I have been to this place countless times and have never had a problem with the hot sauce.
Food is usually really great here. Tasted a little off and upset our stomachs tonight and the fries were very soggy.

Best place for burgers and hot in that area. If you like hot sauce, this is the place to go. Its by far the best Ive ever had and most people I know also agree. They serve alot of other comfort food and the prices are reasonable along with fast, accurate service. They dont charge you more if you ask for extra onions, hot sauce etc and a big container of pickles on both sides of the counter you can help yourself to. Been going there for years and will continue to go for many more

Been going to Schallers for about 63 years , mostly to the Edgemere Drive location. I have never been disappointed . Fast , friendly service and reliably great food. The East Ridge Rd. location is just as good , except for the fact that the lakeside atmosphere is missing. Id return there in a heartbeat !

My brother wanted a hot dog so we went to Schallers on Ridge Rd ... The girl taking our order was very nice and helpful. The food was good, both of us had their soups of the day, very tasty and just enough!!! The prices were right too 😋
Went to Schaller’s today on Ridge and was disappointed. We usually go to the location Down by the Lake. I Ordered 2 milkshakes, one strawberry and one chocolate. Thought we were getting real ice cream like the Lake location but, it was soft serve ice cream with a few squirts of flavouring syrup (tasted like vanilla) AND they were $5.55 EACH !! We Could have had better and for cheaper from McDonalds!! Very chintzy for what they are charging. Will definitely only go to The other location where I wouldn’t mind paying that price for real ice cream. Disappointed!!
I find myself here every Thursday for the plate special. I wish they had some sort of combo just for a burger fries and a drink, but it doesnt seem to be a big thing with Rochester local chain restaurants.. always super fast and super delicious
A family favorite for over 50 years. Fresh burgers, that hang over the edge of the bun. Zweigle red and white hots, thick milkshakes, great french fries. Clean restaurant, lots of booths for seating, great to sit in your car and eat when the weather permits. I LOVE Schallers !
The best of the three locations. Always enjoy stopping in for a casual meal. Kendra is quick to take your order and get you on your way.
Thought the hot sauce on the plate was better at the Henrietta location. The young man who took my order was friendly enough. The place has not really changed much in years. Good place to bring the kids in for lunch or dinner.
If I could give 0 stars I would!.. first off lady that took my order messed it up a couple times, my cheeseburger had such little amount of meat sauce (barely see it) then caught an attitude with me because of her wrong doing. Wow! Lady you dont need to be working there if you have 0 customer service experience. Plain and simple never going back plus prices are to high for such terrible service.
Food is GREAT just avoid going there during the day time. I used to be a regular customer here and after a while of not going in, I went in on Tuesday 30 January 2018 and the girl at the front was very rude to me. It was afternoon/early evening. She was very curt and rude towards me i.e. no please and thank you, tone of voice was obvious that she wanted little to nothing to do with me. To make matters worse, she was polite to the guy that came in after me. And when I left and said have a nice day and thank you, the cook was polite and reciprocated but she only said bye. On paper this does not look as bad as it was in person, but it was EXTREMELY unwelcoming, moderately rude and uninviting. I highly doubt I will ever go back to this location after that experience. Customer service makes or breaks a business relationship. Good food is not enough to keep a customer.
The guy who waited on me was the Best I ever had to wait on me in years but unfortunately my grilled cheese sandwich wasnt good at all and my sweet potato fries fries were soft and I asked for crispy so I threw away both and just ate my hotdog!!
For it being my first time trying food from here, i was not happy or impressed. I ordered a fish fry and didnt get any tarter sauce, I even made sure to ask for it when I ordered it. Any other place that sells fish frys knows you should put lemon and tartar sauce. I ordered a couple other food items that were just ok, mac salad was ok but I could of made the same at home, nothing special. The fries were soggy. The only thing I can say was good were the burgers. But for almost spending $50 total, the food could of been a little better
Long time fan of Schallers. 50s style decor, great shakes, awesome burgers. But this particular location has dropped the ball a few times now. If you want a true to name experience, youll have to visit the Henrietta location. Food is much better.
My favorite place to eat but noticed they changed their onion ring batter and I was not happy since I look forward to the light, flakey, buttermilk mix they always had but now hard, breaded and taste overdone.
Food was over cooked, over priced & they dont listen to how & what you want your food. Really slow making 2 hot dogs and 1 hamburger
The food is fresh, taste great. Prices are competitive. Hamburger joint menu. There is a kids menu. They sell locally made Zwigle hotdogs, red, and white. Mostly booth seating, some tables, and counter stools. The service is fast, friendly, and accurate. Parking is easy and plentiful. It is handicapped accessible but the doors are not automated and are very heavy. The bathrooms would be a challenge if doable as well. The bathroom is old but clean. The restaurant is neat and clean as well as outdoors.
It was awful, went to the Ridge Road location. Counter waiters were rude and one of the girls couldnt even count. I stood there for 5 minutes before I had to ask them if they were taking orders. Then to top it off I asked for well done burger but a hockey puck. I suggest you go to Bill Grays instead. 😤😤😤
The service, the atmosphere, the food is the best!!!!!!! Thank you , when I visit from Colorado, its almost demanded that I bring back the burgers, freeze them overnight then there almost as good to go!! Been practicing this for nearly 50 years!!!
May 24, 2017, 7 pm Stopped in for a burger and fries. Atmosphere went from talking to very quiet could feel the air change.The young lady that waited on us lack customer service skills. She had a very poor attitude as if we disgusted her. Threw my food on the tray as well as threw the change in my husbands hands as if he had the plague.While eating my food I notice one of the workers is behind the counter blowing his nose where the food is being prepped and a customer is sitting at the counter picking his nose.Wont ever eat here again I will continue to support my guys in Henrietta. Shouldve went there in the first place but since I was in the area didnt want to do the drive. Guess what next time I will.I wont pay for a check you dont deserve with my money. FYI My money is earned not given I work hard for mine.
We love Schallers. Its an experience, and theres just something special about it. The staff there are always friendly, and the pickles..... they always make sure to have the pickles.

Staff wears gloves, handles cash wearing gloves, didnt change them to then touch and handle uncovered food. Seems like a major health issue anytime but more so during a pandemic. I couldnt eat my food after seeing that but I had already paid.

I have been frequenting schallers for almost fifty years now. It has always been my favorite burger place.there are several burger places that make a pretty good burger, but none, have the unique taste of Schallers!
Food is great; the staff is great. But one guy, Jerry, every time I go in there has to ask me if Im still smoking. In front of everyone. It will be a while before I go back. Jerry dont like those of us that smoke.

The staff were MISERABLE. All of them. We were seriously taken aback by how upset they looked. Not one smile, I dont even think we got a hello. There were buckets full of water(?) all over the place like they have leaks, which youd think would be a priority for a food place, who make natural enemies of mold/mildew.Now, Ive been to Schallers before, and Ive loved it. No problems with staff, delicious burgers and fries crispy like they are meant to be. But this one is not good. I cannot recommend it, nor their cheese fries.Here is the kicker: as we were leaving the restaurant, another customer was giving their order. We heard one employee say, and I quote, once you become a regular, we double check that kind of thing. Excuse me, what? So, youre saying a big old screw you to all your other customers? Oh, this one is a regular, better make sure we actually cook his food the way he wants. Everyone else gets whatever we feel like giving them. Thats unacceptable.
Not quite as good as it used to be, (last two orders were missing an item, which NEVER happened before then. Also, my hots were nott well cooked, they were barely warmed). I wont give up though, Schallers is normally awesome.
Schallers is and always has been great. Fish frys are awesome, even better than most fish markets! Consistently good burgers, fries, shakes etc. No complaints
My husband and I passed by your restaurant yesterday. The sign on the door said no masks, no entry!We proceeded to billgrays down the road instead. No restrictions there, curb side pick up available. Some of us cannot medically tolerate a mask. Unfortunate that your establishment has instuted this with absolutly no flexibility.
Their cheeseburgers are the best and the service is always top tier. I highly recommend you try them out when you have a chance.

Classic malt Shoppe with great cheeseburgers! When getting a cheeseburger, ask for it on a hard roll. You wont be disappointed. Dont forget on each side of the counter where you order your food are the unlimited pickle jars!!

1 star, one the female servers is rude to the customers everytime I go in there. One time I saw her throw a bag of food towards a customer after they asked for some salt.
Long standing member of the Rochester style Hamburg and hot dog joints. Only in Rochester is there such a proliferation of these type of eateries...a blessing as all are good yet unique. You just cant go wrong at any of them.

Disappointed the hot sauce was not good. There is no flavor or heat. My milkshake was very weak not enough chocolate and malt flavors nonexistent. Will not go back againTry Charlies for really good hot sauce.
I had the pleasure of getting to see the cookie monster underwear while ordering my food. I slipped a note to my cashier so I wouldnt embarrass the employee. The girl on shift told him to pick his pants up. He then proceeded to be passive aggressive about his comments. Like oops, I burped too loud. Someone might complain. No offense, but I should not have to look at someones undergarments while ordering food.
Good food but lost all its smiling employees long ago.A little investment in it would be nice doesnt need anything fancy but I can do without 25 year old tables and faded pictures.

Came in to here with my dad thinking this was bill grays but a gallery was the name we got some pizza logs we sat down our seat was next to a trash can that had tan colored slime type stuff falling down the side. That was just disgusting and the pizza logs were literallylike cement we tried to be happy when the cashier asked us how it was i finished one pizza log.
Honestly, food is good but not worth the price. Apathy from staff is also kind of off putting. I wouldnt eat fast food over this place... but I would probably go elsewhere for a milkshake and burger
The women’s bathroom is outside the main building with no A/C, yet the men’s is inside the door with air conditioning. What is that about?
Somewhat pricey its always young high school kids taking your order. Food is fast food quality but the pickles are absolutely amazing its actually the only reason I go
I would rate schallers a 0 if i could. The young gentlemen taking my order seemed like he was in a big rush too get me out of there. I asked him too give me a few minutes so i could make a choice, he just kept trying too push me too put in my order so he could move on too someone else. I will not be coming here ever again.

The hamburger was dry and half the size of the one in Henrietta! I was charged for a hard roll and I asked for a bun! And then he charged me for a large fries and I ordered a small fries!! I will not come back to this location!! Horrible experience!
Schallers irondequoit worst plate ive ever had, watery mac, fries cold in the middle and hot sauce that couldnt even pass for Alpo wet dog food. Never mind the fact you charged me $13 for this POS. you brought a whole new meaning to garbage plate. Gross AF!! if i could leave 0 stars i would 1/19/18

Theres nothing like the original drive-in on Edgmere which is worth the drive. This location does know the schaller secret to its onion ring and meat hot sauce craving satisfaction.

2022-02-11Where did my review go!? It went from bad to worse. Now that I get to post it again, lets dive deep into this poor excuse of a meal.There was only one patty on the plate, the hotsauce had the consistency of canned bean paste, the fries were floppy and undercooked, the Mac salad was mayo with noodles, and the bread was non-existent.The burgers are supposed to be good, I remeber them being delicious. Pretty disappointing to bring home dinner to then have to order something else.

2022-04-18First, Schallers has the best hot sauce in Rochester. I used to think the Henrietta road location was the best of the Schallers for hot sauce, but Ridge stepped up huge on my last visit.Burger and fries, burger left something to be desired, fries are the proper 3/8 crinkle cut (the standard for fries). Had a white hot no bun over an order of fries, kinda like a half plate.And while everything was good (except as noted), the pickles were sublime... Hot dill slices, so thick and crispy and tasty......

2021-10-29Still Rochesters best burgers. Consistent for decades, best hot sauce. Killer sweet potato fries go Great with garbage plates (Thursdays only) , trust me. We hit the E Ridge location late on a Thursday... jackpot.

2022-05-19They work together as a team! Its not fast food because its cooked in front of you, but it is because they work as a team! Never seen anything like it! Awesome job everybody there! And they have FUN! I couldnt remember the orders like they do. Superb!

2019-08-29Smells great from the outside but entering in the smells turns to be more like old grease. Floors are dirty. Decor is old and out of date. It doesn’t look or feel clean. Don’t accept Apple Pay. Plate price seems high for only getting on me burger and the meat sauce wasn’t spicy enough and was a little watery. Overall it’s okay but not a place I would visit frequently. Staff is polite and they work efficiently and quickly.

2019-03-05Growing up my mother would always bring me and my brothers here on weekends, sometimes even weeknights😊We still come here all the time, and now with her grandkids, they LOVE SCHALLERS just as much as we do lol😂This place always feels like home whenever we visit.The staff is always friendly and welcoming.The great part about here is that they are always fully staffed and very fast.Thanks for still being around all these years later and remaining the same great people that I remember when I was a kid.🥰

2022-02-09Went on a Sunday noon after sledding at nearby Durand Eastman Park. Service was good. Food was good. Lots of space for the family to spread out. Reasonable prices. Recommended!
