Purchased tickets online weeks ago.. Super Excited for this experience. Drove all the way from Staten Island to this farm for a spooky night, only for them to be closed. We were greeted by two rude gentlemen telling us they canceled tonight. In no way were they sympathetic or even apologetic. No communication. No call. No texts. I had to check the website to see that it says we would be refunded but we have yet to receive the refund or any other possible options. Super irresponsible to not alert your patrons of issues, many are traveling from out of area and or build their schedules around visiting. Be more considerate. You ask for our information on the website, USE IT. LIKE WTH?!
It was worth the $$ and were scares were great especially in the corn maze. The use of masks mixed with Halloween make up and Halloween masks was incredible and very creative. They also had the best social distancing of the two walk-through haunted houses I’ve been through this year. They were very clear about the rules of mask wearing and social distancing and even had a temperature check. Well worth it this year excellent haunt guys! (Dub step was a bit of an odd choice though)
3rd year here. Family of four. I brought $200 dollars w me. We all ate. Hot dogs or corn Everyone got a pumpkin and gourds. I got a sunflower. We got donuts and a small cake cider water popcorn.candy apple . We did the corn maze Which we always enjoy. We skipped the farm animals this year We still had a few dollars when we left. We always stay about three or four hours. Plenty of bathrooms. Kind friendly staff. Hand sanitizer stations available. Fun day. A bit expensive. But understandably so. These farms do most of there business this time of year. We always have fun and leave happy. Bring a bottle of water to wash hands with as there is no running water for that. Overall great experience every year. We didn’t do the haunted house or the haunted corn maze. We also did not do the games available. But we enjoyed watching others do them.
I hate that I’m giving them 1 star but our experience yesterday was miserable! We have gone to Schmidt’s for at least 6 years and unfortunately this year is the last.Everything seemed chaotic. The lines were triple any wait time I have ever had there. Felt like I was at Disney world in the middle of summer. Waited almost two hours for the house only to be disappointed because they were not timing the entry right and we got blocked and all the scares were ruined because it was bottle necked.Won’t be going back and it sucks. They should really go back to timed Entries
We had a blast!!!! I give the entire staff at Schmitts a 10++ for their excellent protocols in place for responsible enforcement of social distancing, enforcing the proper wearing of masks, temperature and security checks and most importantly hand sanitizing stations throughout the excursion. Thank you for a great experience!!! The haunted corn maze and the haunted house where done with such professionalism, great effects, excellent costumes, actors and lots of thrills. I highly recommend Schmitts Haunt for a great Halloween experience!!!!! Thank you to all! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻👻🎃🎃👻
This attraction was well organized and put together . Thank you Lauren and your attire staff for hosting this event. The team did a great job with social distancing. I felt very safe at the same time of being scared.. lol..The theme and the Performance from the staff was outstanding.. They even had hand sanitizer inside the haunted house. This has been the best Haunted House attraction for me and my family. Please go visit and have a scary night on the town with your friends and family. Don’t worry about safety protocols, this place has security along with temperature check and enough space to space everyone out. I can’t wait till next year come around..
I don’t know what haunted house some of the people went to, but this was done very well especially during a pandemic. My group and I enjoyed every minute of it and the staff were so kind and welcoming as well as scary! This year was an amazing experience! Definitely recommend to check it out! A job well done guys! Thank you for being helpful as well Alex!
I came here Saturday night from Brooklyn and it was definitely not worth it. I would give this attraction 0 stars if I could. The haunted house its self was okay but definitely overpriced. Nothing special. I saw the staff mistreating and yelling at a black man, which wasnt okay. dont really know how this came about but with all the racial divide going on in the world right now, this truly upset me. I also had to wait 2 hours to go through the corn maze and then the house.
Schmitt Farm Haunt 2020 was a disaster. We booked for 7:30pm, we arrived at 7pm but did not get into the corn maze until 9:15pm. There are multiple lines with over 300 people. We understand it is COVID and that you need to make sure people are safe. But this should’ve been disclosed on the website that there could be hundreds of people on each line in the cold weather. Allow people to get refunds if it’s like this. We didn’t even get in the haunted house because we knew there would be another 2 hour line there. Imagine paying $42 per person for two haunted attractions and waiting 4 hours just to spend 20 minutes total in there. We emailed Alex for a refund but he kept insisting on that “users may experience longer than usual waits” on the website so no refund is given. But if you really disclosed that the waits can be until midnight if you arrive at 7pm maybe people would understand how it really is.
So i went with my girlfriend and our family and its OK the corn maze had less actors than the house. It just felt like we were walking around a corner maze. The actors that were there made little effort to scare maybe it was the cold but it just didnt seem scary at all. The house was good very creative makeup and and interesting rooms. The wait isnt bad and one thing I must say they are on top of their covid rules! Masks and social distancing the whole night i felt very safe. They gave hand sanitizer before entering the house (we wore gloves) and mid way through an actor sprayed our hands again . all in all for the price and it being a pandemic Id recommend it.
My friends and I went in the haunted house and we ran out because we were too scared. The management workers were very considerate, and walked us through the whole haunted house. We would have been TERRIFIED if it wasn’t for him(management). The management were very generous and I really appreciated them because if they did not help us, our money would have gone to waste.
This place was not organized at all! 0 social distancing!!!!!! groups of people standing in line very close together. Place was so packed I was there for three hours and didn’t even get to go into the haunted house. They did not check temperatures or crowd control in any way. Wouldn’t be surprised if they are the reason COVID spreads. Worst experience. Also their spooky corn maze barely had anything going on in it. Totally waste of time.
First off, I would like to say that I am a huge advocate for Schmitts Farms, I always enjoy their farm products and service. It pains me to say that they should stick to the farm business and forget about trying to be a haunt, or truly step up their game if they want to be taken seriously. We waited an hour and a half to enter the corn trail. Now, normally I would have gotten there early as a long wait is expected typically for haunt attractions or would have bought a fast pass had they offered one. However, they were taking reservations I assume because of covid, and they specifically stated that if you have a certain time appointment, check in is at that specific time. We are all used to this procedure as a way of life now, so I didnt think twice that there would be an issue, I was actually pleased to see that they were taking preventative measures due to covid and was looking forward to a more streamlined experience. How disappointed I was upon arrival. After waiting the hour and a half, we went through the most pathetic corn trail you could imagine. The only positive was that it was a full moon out and it was nice to walk through the corn stalks and take in nature, the actors were so bad, they actually ruined it, I would much have preferred it without them. I really would like to say something positive about these so called world class actors and top of the line props, however it seemed as if they hired a bunch of last minute shy awkward people that had only 2 costume options, a Jason mask or a camo ghillie suit, and were told to stand there and walk by you every 2 minutes or so, not scary at all. One of the actors reaked of weed and two others we saw smoking cigarettes without a care that we were there, it was very awkward at times and down right unprofessional. The props may have been nice, but the majority of them were in the pitch dark so we couldnt even see what was there, and the ones that were illuminated were very minimalist. When we came out of the corn trail, we were sent over to the haunted house, and were told it would be another hour and a half wait. There was no way we were wasting more of our time after that experience, so we left. The haunted house may be much better than the trail was, but I am very skeptical to go waste more of my time waiting for some let down experience. We let the staff know our thoughts and they recommended we try coming back in the early hours on a Friday. For future patrons, I hope the company can change the instructions on their booking page saying to come earlier than their time slot or offer a fast pass option. Would have liked to see more props illuminated in the corn trail, more actors, and a better variety of costumes. And please monitor your actors behavior better.
180 minute total wait. Phoney 5 Star Reviews. Lowest quality experience I’ve had in 10 years of visiting haunts. The maze had minimal actors, no theming, A minimal amount of random animatronics. The scares were lame. Midway through a random actor was smoking a cigarette in the area with smoke with the chainsaw actor. It was just so cheesy, unprofessional with the cheapest looking costumes and Jason masks that you get from Halloween shop. How could a place with so much notoriety be this bad?!Had The lowest expectations possible as we visited October 5th, during the Covid age. This was lowest quality experience haunt I’ve been to in the last 10 years. That bad. If you click my profile, you’ll see most of my reviews are positive and I do my best to not say anything bad, but this place simply is taking advantage of its customers and somehow getting away with it.I should’ve known it was a money grab when I saw Axe Throwing. When A haunt tries to diversify and add experiences they do not specialize in such as an escape room or axe throwing, it’s USUALLY a sign the place is a money grab instead of someone a place who focuses all their attention on making sure their haunt is great...The only thing I can’t blame them for the was awful social distancing practice and customers not wearing their masks as the customers are to blame for that.We made a reservation online for 9 PM and follow the instructions of specifically not arriving early. The line looked long and we decided to ask The folks at check in how long the wait would be. We were told 30 minutes to 40 minutes. It’s disappointing the staff was misinformed. It took a full 90 minutes to get into the maze which we were instructed we needed to do prior to the haunted house. We said, OK, we should cut them some slack because of Covid, but after going through the experience, what a joke! We had tickets for the haunt afterwards, but that line was also 90 minutes! So much for a reservation.. if I made my customers wait more than 10 to 15 minutes when they had a reservation, they would be livid. With the kind of money that they charge, how long they have been in the industry, and in my experience of visiting other haunts during Covid, this place is out right taking advantage of all of the young people that need something to do.The maze was such a disservice to the Haunt industry and I am in shock that The line was that long considering how bad it was.It sad that Long Islanders do not truly have an incredible haunt facility. I’ve visited a few others and were more or less satisfactory. This was by far the worst. Going to other haunts out of state will blow your mind! What waste of time..
Hands down the BEST haunted corn maze and mansion we have been to! I live in Staten Island and have done all the big ones in NJ and city and we decided to come out to LI and boy we were sooo happy we did! From characters to theatrics to spook level it was everything you would hope it would be! We look forward to coming again, my son wants to bring all his friends!
BEST HAUNTED HOUSE!!!!! Ive been going to Schmitts Farms for their haunted experiences for the past 8 years and they never disappoint! Incredible detail in all aspects and amazing actors!! They must have over 60 actors working the haunted house, haunted corn maze, and scaring people on the lines. And this year, they were FANTASTIC with COVID precautions! Cant say it enough. From the temperature checks and mandatory mask wearing, to the workers enforcing a >6 foot distance from other guests on all the lines, they are not messing around. They even had an actor spraying all guests hands with sanitizer 3 times inside of the haunted house! All I can say is I felt VERY COMFORTABLE and they went ABOVE AND BEYOND with safety while providing the best scares and fun! A MUST for Halloween season!
Waited on line for 3 hours hoping that the experience would be worth the wait. The lines were completely unregulated and people were cutting at every turn. It was very frustrating to see and there were no employees around to mitigate. People were clearly smoking weed on line and it was an overall unpleasant experience. The actual haunted house was...ok. It lasted about 10 minutes and had the usual frights. It was pretty quick and any enjoyable experience was totally ruined by having to stand in line. There are many more haunted houses, in my experience, that are better. I hope people are able to read this before deciding to go there this Halloween and aren’t fooled by some of the more positive reviews.
Overall, the haunted house and corn maze were OK at best, and disorganized at worst. I had read the previous reviews of long lines, so made sure to arrive 30 minutes early at 6:30pm, and would STRONGLY recommend this as the wait times can get close to 2-3 hours for each.Even arriving early with smaller lines, they were sending groups in less than 1 minute apart which lead to us being sandwiched between other groups in the house. This really takes away from the whole experience as you see the group ahead of you getting scared/surprised so you know what to expect. The few jump scares were spoiled because of this, and we felt rushed as there was a group directly behind as well. There was a decent amount of actors in the haunted house and they did a good job acting out the asylum feel which felt disturbing but not scary. The house relied a lot on props more than anything which just doesnt do the trick. Was really expecting more pop out scares, but it was mostly just actors following you around. The corn maze is NOT a maze - it is a trail that has a set path. This one was scarier than the haunted house and had a few good pop out scares, but very few actors were present. There was maybe 5 throughout the whole trail. I was really enjoying the corn trail until we ran into the group ahead of us again, just like in the house. After that, we saw them being scared ahead of us and knew what was coming which ruined the rest of the experience. I was SO looking forward to being scared!Overall, my group had a good time mostly due to the fact that we did not have to wait more than 20 minutes from arriving early. If I had to wait any longer, it would not have been worth it and we would have left disappointed. Definitely NOT worth the $38, but it was something to do. Would recommend most for ages 12-18. Just be prepared to wait and dont set your expectations too high. Not sure what other haunts are available in the Long Island area, but next time will look into other options.
I went to the haunt Sunday night and had a great time. Protocols were followed for social distancing and I felt really comfortable the whole night. You guys really stepped your game up from past years, nearly doubling the excitement of the corn maze. I did an axe throw and zombie brain bash which were dope. Overall me and my group had a great experience, especially considering the fact we almost didn’t go. We almost didn’t come because the person who answered the phone was unenthusiastic, seemed to not care about my questions and gave me the vibe I was being a bother by calling. After that phone call I started to think “Maybe they don’t care about the consumer and are just in it for the net.” I was proven wrong when we got there and was glad I went again my judgment. It’s just a shame a bad apple can rot a bunch and I hope this doesn’t deter anyone from having the experience me and my friends did.
Went for the first time last night, it was awesome ! The point of going to a Hunted house is to have FUN and we did ! They do a really great job with the haunted asylum and corn maze, the details to everything is amazing !! People don’t realize how much work actually goes into doing this. The theme and storyline was awesome, the actors did a great job and the whole staff was so friendly ! Shoutout to to Alex and Tony ! It was a great night ! Would definitely go back !!
90 minute line to get into the asylum. Actors were good and well dressed/in part . Just to clarify, this is more of a kids/teen attraction. This is a famil friendly place. The were two people walking around in costume to scare you on the lines but considering the space it spans more actors would be really helpful to pass the time. The lines are long, be prepared. We waited for another hour on the line for the cornmaze but we gave up as the line seemed to have stalled for some time. Small food truck, CASH ONLY. staff are friendly and the music helps set the tone too. Wish the attractions were longer and wish they had timed tickets to help prevent the serious lines. There are also porta potties right before you go in.
Lets start with the actual haunted house. Its ok, it didnt have the thrill or mechanized moving attraction that a lot of houses are starting to do such as Darkness Rising, Gateway playhouse, etc. It had an average amount of actors, jump scares, and staff. Staff are very friendly and not pushy at all. However that is where everything falls apart. I was literally in the haunted house line for 3 hours tonight. During said which times people were smoking pot, cigarettes, vaping, and kids were cutting the line rampant. There were no staff to help mitigate these issues and what grinded my gears was people were doing it next to the entrance to the house itself. This was irritating me beyond the point where I wanted to leave, but there is a strong no refund policy that is posted everywhere. I now kinda get why they have the signs posted everywhere. At 12:00 after waiting for 2 1/2 hours, they started rushing the attendees into the house. During the haunt 3 separate groups got combined having 12-15 people exit the house at the same time. This review might be biased due to the long wait time, but it really ruined the experience. I shouldnt have to set aside an entire night to get into one haunted house weeks before halloween. The price seemed a little high for just the haunted house. I would definitely think of going to other houses if your going to want an enjoyable experience.
I understand that businesses need to make there quota however, charging for a 17 month old to get in to a patch is obsured there was not much to do. And if they will be charging just entry fees why charge to see 4 types of animals and to ride a horses once. Lets just say i was surprised i was not charged to use the restroom. Over all great things to say about there overpriced candy apples but taste amazing.
This is an amazing family farm. I went for halloween last year during the day to pick pumpkins. The pumpkin prices are based on weight. There is a hayride that takes you over to the pumpkin patch and petting zoo. There are so much fun things to do for the family. At night we did the haunted house and corn maze and I can honestly say this was one of the most scariest haunted houses and corn mazes I ever experienced. So many live actors and the graphics were so real. Definitely a must do for halloween. I definitely recommend this farm to anyone looking to find a nice family owned farm to pick pumpkins and experience the terrors of the farm at night
Made to wait longer then reservation time then rushed thru the maze and the mansion. Constantly running into the party before us or the party behind is running into you. Some maze characters cared more about Facebook then doing their job (one character look up from there phone and said “roar” then back to the phone). Not worth the money, wait or time. Customer service is terrible as well!!
So good! I haven’t been to a haunted attraction in years and this really brought back my love of being scared. Kudos to the guy who heard my friend say my name and kept taunting me, that was extremely memorable. 😊 Nothing like hearing “Chels” over and over and really making it a frightening experience, they definitely go all out and bring their all.
All i can say is this place is far most the best Haunted House I ever been to. I’ve been to many Haunted Houses but this place is at the very top. For those who ever been to Pennhurst this place is very similar. The actors in this place is crazy good. When I say crazy good they’re good af. Once you enter into that house there is no turning back. The amount of actors in there is insane and they really engage with you. The place messes with your head and the actors 100 % do an amazing job. I don’t understand how this place is not ranked Top 5 in America but I wouldn’t write this if I am not lying. This much recommended to anyone who likes a real life experience from a horror movie. Each room will scare the heck out of you and if you’re looking for some place that really really scares you then go to this place.
I go to multiple haunts during the Halloween season, including Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios. I have been coming to this haunt for years and absolutely loved the new theme this year. The attention to detail and the actors in the Melville Asylum are incredible and truly are what separate it from other haunts. The boiler room was perfect, I felt submerged in it..seriously terrifying! Details like the “spark girl” who created massive sparks in one room to the small but super important things like lightning and fog really make this place stand out. The element of terror lurks around every corner, and Schmitt’s Melville Asylum definitely delivers. The actors are unmatched, and even rival those at Horror Nights. Their energy is spot on and no one breaks character. The cast is really incredible. The actors are in tune with what is happening around them and know how to enhance the experience. The group in front of us was incredibly slow, so we caught up to them at some point. The actors actually held us up and taunted us allowing for the other group to move ahead so our experience wasn’t ruined. I have never been to a haunt that does that, truly professional and well handled. I would love the fog/swamp section to be extended due to the creepy/mysterious elements it adds to the haunt. I do think the corn maze needs some improvements. While the sets were cool, the actors were not on point compared to those in the asylum. More actors with more enthusiasm are definitely needed. I will continue to return to Schmitt’s because they deliver the scares that I love. I look forward to next year and I hope the new theme stays for awhile.
Hey everyone last night I was at this place and I thought that it was amazing. I got to see a girl zombie that I think I have made a friend and the most awesome 👍 part of that night was Michael Myers. Because during each Halloween I always watch his movies and every other zombie that was there in my opinion I think that they did an amazing job with what they were doing dressed up and scaring us but I was not afarid at all but Im was very happy to be there seeing Each person dress up as different monsters since in the past I have gone to one of these before and this actual place was called #TrrrorBehindTheWalls at Eastern State Penitentiary.
My friends and I did enjoy going here. The website is a bit of a buffer? Since the corn maze wasnt really anything like what the website said. Nonetheless its more suited for families, everyone was great. Super nice when my friend dropped his phone. Definitely going here next year! During the daytime this time too.
This is the 2nd year in a row attending the haunted house and corn maze. Although the production, layout and actors were good, my overall experience was below expectations. We were rushed through the haunted house and corn maze by crowds of people and were unable to experience the attractions. The haunted house and corn maze were extremely crowded and did not leave the actors enough time to prepare for when we would enter the rooms, which left us disappointed. This year was very unsatisfying
Friday night was lit! had fun walking in the corn maze, but my group and I had the most fun inside the house, at first it seemed to be tame until we reached that room thats swamp like the actors came out of NO WHERE with a very close encounter with a chainsaw, this room is not for the chickens! Then we got to the clowns I HATE CLOWNS but loved ever moment of it. Keep it up see you guy again next year
Haunted house is NOT for kids. I asked 3 different people who worked at the booth yesterday and in front of the haunted house. This is NOT kid friendly; there are bodies hanging upside down with their heads off, naked dead bodies, half eaten...more like a human centipede movie. Will not recommend to anyone and will tell everyone to steer clear due to the ignorance of the staff. For the people working here to advise a family to go into here with kids is a disgrace.
The girl in the front guarding the door of the haunted house, I was told her name is Becky, was very rude. She overreacted because someone touched a lamp. People come to this place to have a good time. When she approached us, she only had to kindly say please do not touch. Instead she decided to call her staff and security as if we had committed a crime. We are all adults we could have resolved the “issue” without an extreme intervention. The security guard then felt that he had to keep his eyes on us. He kept pacing back and forth watching us again as if we had committed some sort of crime. The actions that they took for a LAMP was unnecessary and it honestly ruined our experience.
The lines were insane, on their website they said everyone will get a temperature check and they did not do that there was no temperature check at all, got there at 8:15 for my 8:30 reservation and was there until 12:30 also we were all so close together no one was 6 feet apart they had flags on the line that were falling off and on the ground so no one was Six feet apart and there is no hand sanitizer stations

2020-10-04No mask requirement. Little to no social distancing for lines, especially entrances. Staff not wearing masks. Crowding conditions. $10 per person for not much benefit. Most rides are an additional fee. $6 for pony rides. $5 per person for corn maze. You pay for what you pick. We didnt do the animal walk, but there was additional cost there as well.

2021-10-24Complete and total waste of money. I feel like Ive been robbed. Waited nearly 2 hours in the rain to go into the corn maze. It appeared that they were short staffed or the rain scared off the actors. We walked the entire maze and only saw 2 live actors who were not at all scary. When we excited the corn maze the line for the haunted house was huge!! Asked a worker what the expected wait time was - at least 2 hours!! A good amount of rain was coming down at this point. Some of the line was covered by a roof but the majority is not. We just left - figured if the house was anything like the maze- why waste the 2 + hours on line. Watching paint dry would be more fun. If a zero star option was available- thats what I would give.

2021-10-18Hours advertised as 7pm-11pm. Arrived at 7:06pm, yet still waited in line outside in the cold for 2 hours for the corn maze. Was OK. Waited in line outside in cold for another 20 minutes for haunted house. Was good until the actor inside house started arguing with me saying my mask wasnt covering my nose (it was), blocked me from proceeding to next room, and called me a stupid girl. Also the group behind us kept running into us. Wasnt spaced out enough. Ruined the experience for me.Overall: cool rooms and decorations in haunted house but wait was too long. Needs to have a fast pass option/time blocks. Needs to have groups separated more to prevent running in to each other within the maze and haunted house. Also couldve done w/o getting harassed about the mask.

2021-10-12I went through on serial killer night. OMG it was awesome. The Edward Scissor Hands costume. Amazing... This is one haunted house that I will always love. They never let us down. Keep up the great work. Thanks for the great time.

2021-10-07Visit to Schmitt Farm was very good this year. The price to get in was reasonable for a family of 4. The price begins to add up when you participate in each activity they have such as corn maze, riding a pony, petting zoo and feeding separately, face painting, spooky house etc. Other than that the kids had a great time. There is a playground, vegetable picking and miniature golf. Lots of things to spend a full day. The corn is amazing!!!Beware: dress for an outdoor activity with dirt. Kids tend to kick up dust.

2021-10-23Went here with my husband and friends for the first time and it was amazing. My husband is a tough guy and doesn’t scare easy however in your corn trail you have a bloody guy in a house of spiders that scared him so bad that he went running. We will 100% tell all of our friends about this place and definitely return next year. Thank You
