Man O man! Stopped here for the first time at 2:30 pm today. Not crowded. Fast service. I had Eggs Benedict and my husband had French Toast with bacon. HUGE portions! Very tasty! The potatoes with my eggs were wonderful too. Only problem is theres no direct way to get back on 20 south, but not problem enough to miss this place! Will definitely go back.
Not bad food .we were out for a drive and stopped there for dinner . I got breakfast I ordered scrambled egg with cedder cheese. Of course they did not hapoen . when I told the waitresses she laughed and say do you want me to add it now after my meal was almost done .
This little gem of a diner was a pleasure to visit!! We headed over the mountain from The Berkshires in Massachusetts. We heard about it from some friends who live locally that eat here on the week to week basis for all different kinds of meals. We decided to journey over for dinner and meet up with some friends at the diner. The staff was very cordial upon our group entering the diner and seated our party at a nice table and gave us some menus. These large menus have something for everyone for real... and bonus you can order anything in there anytime you want to eat it... so yes that means breakfast for dinner!!Our group had a very friendly waitress named Hannah who brought the two year old a coloring book and crayons upon taking our drink and appetizer orders. We ordered a bunch of different items and the generous sized portions were fresh an hot, served up quickly right from the kitchen. Our waitress was on top of the drink refills and replenished them before we could even ask for them... everyone was very happy with the variety of foods that we ordered. The turkey burger was juicy and delicious with crispy french fires and fresh cut tomatoes and lettuce with mayonnaise. The triple turkey bacon lettuce tomato sandwich on toasted rye with mayonnaise was perfectly done with crispy french fries as well. The lasagna dish was overflowing with sauce, cheese, and layers upon layers of cheese, meats and ingredients with a side salad was huge, leftovers were taken home. The spaghetti, sausage, cheese, and sauce was a huge portion that also came with a salad was quite good and very filling. The two year old enjoyed scrambled eggs, a juicy plump sausage, and a huge mickey mouse shaped pancake with generous helping of butter and syrup. Another member of our group got a chicken Caesar salad with bacon and dressing which was gigantic and had plentiful servings of chicken.Hannah was lovely and friendly throughout the entire dining experience. The ambiance of the diner was very nice and clean and pretty spacious there was another side of the diner was being occupied by a huge group having a gathering. The patrons enjoying their dinners seemed to be all chatting happily and eating their food, the pace from seating til food til departure is pretty quick!! I highly recommend this diner for breakfast, lunch or dinner... the staff is friendly and it is a great place to meet friends to have any of the meals of the day or just some coffee and/ or dessert. As you come in the door there is an entire cabinet full of freshly made cakes, pies, and all kinds of dessert creations to make your mouth water in anticipation of dessert.
Very clean and comfortable. The boss,Panos, came to check on the meal himself. My waitress, Veronica, was terrific.I chose beef gyro, with sweet potato fries. It was stuffed with meat and on the freshest possible pita. Veronica walked by with the house stuffed pepper, which looked terrific. It was very inexpensive, given the quality and portion size. I was greatly impressed and recommended it highly!
My husband and I stopped at Schodack Diner for dinner. Our server was very nice and professional. I ordered a stuffed sole dish, which was very good. My husband ordered the meatloaf special, which was very filling. The chicken soup was also very tasty. The specials contained a lot of food, and I ended up taking half of it home. We had good diner food. Our only problem was trying to figure out how to get out of the parking lot and back on the highway in the dark...well have to back during the day.
I ordered the roast turkey dinner and it came swimming in gravy. I did not care for the texture or taste of the gravy. The stuffing was disgusting, the mashed potatoes were generic tasting and the corn was cold. The dinner rolls were on the hard side and difficult to bite into. Not in a hurry to visit this place again. Our waitress and service was good. I would rate that a 10 but everything else was on the other end of the spectrum. Even the unsweetened iced tea tasted horrible.
We came in one early evening when we got into Albany and were on our way to New Lebanon, expecting to grab some sub-par food and be on our way and we ended up returning about half a dozen times. Their food was delish, I really enjoyed their Pancakes, while my wife enjoyed their grilled cheese sandwich, I would also recommend trying their pasta which was pretty good and their soup. Portions were also very generous! But the best part, was the amazing and super friendly staff which made our stay so much better.
New owners have mastered running this diner! Huge menu, and everything is excellent! We always leave with some to take home. Very reasonable prices! We eat here a couple times a week. Its our go to whenever we want a great meal that we dont have to cook or clean up after! Dont pass up this gem!
Came off Route 90 on a trip to enjoy an awesome breakfast at a local Diner? Waitresses arguing in front of customers and when I receive my eggs benedict it was absolutely disgusting eggs werent even cooked the English muffins werent even toasted glad I dont live around here cuz I would never eat here again.
I was with a very large group. (20+). The service was consistently friendly, quick and above board in every way. I ordered pastrimi on rye with steak fries that was prepared excellent. So much so, that I wanted to order another with me on my drive back to Rochester. This will now become a favorite must stop as I travel to Albany. I cant wait to explore the other great items from the menu.
This was my first time here but my sister had been before. She got a bowl of soup and I got a twin quarter pound burger and just used 1 bun and made it a half pound double burger. Everything was great, my sister said her soup was good and my burgers were cooked exactly as ordered and the fries were great. Will definitely be back.
I cannot recommend the Schodack Diner enough!Amazing service and generous amounts of delicious, freshly prepared comfort food. These waitresses really know how to hustle and we received everything almost before asking. I had 2 starters, hot chicken wings and jalapeno poppers, along with a side of coleslaw. It was so much food that even with the help of the friend I was dining with, only ate half of it.Next time I stop in I will definitely know ahead of time not to order too much food because I have to leave room for one of their decadent looking desserts. A gentlemen sitting at the counter a couple stools down from us, ordered a piece of chocolate cake that looked like a giant piece of fudge and it was totally covered with chocolate sauce. Should have got a piece to take with me so I could have it after I ate my leftovers of wings and poppers!
Was moderately busy but definitely not completely full, as there were several tables empty throughout my visit. Bad attitudes all around, ranging from mildly annoyed to down right angry. Service was mediocre at best, and felt like an imposition just to ask for a refill on coffee. Which took an unusual amount of time to actually get. Food was edible but far from great, griddle appears to be dirty as there were many charred/ black food remnants throughout. French toast not cooked nearly enough, bacon soft and soggy, home fries bland, sausage just simply not good. Eggs and coffee were the only part that was decent. Not sure why so many good reviews, I experienced the complete opposite.
There must be a lot of fake reviews on here. I love diners, love them, but my steak tasted microwaved and then barely cooked on the grill, my girlfriend’s omelette was still bleeding egg, and the home fries were tasteless. My eggs were way undercooked too but I just pinched my nose and sent them down the hatch as I was desperate for protein.I love a good dirty spoon diner. But holy cow, I struggled trying to convince myself I loved anything about this one outside of some nice folks behind the counter.
I had the prime rib dinner. It was good enough. The rib was cold and a little bland. But, it was a giant cut of meat. The salad was huge. The green beans, potatoes and soup were all par for diner food. I dont have any major complaints but I likely wont spend 20 dollars on a cold steak again. Ill try something else next time.
We were there for a quick lunch after walking ordered from the specials sheet and those on the whiteboard as one enters. The tuna salad plate special was very different from the one I had last week, which wasnt as tasty (very little lettuce on todays). Otherwise food was good.
My girlfriend and I had a wonderful lunch here. The food was hot and delicious with ample portions. Their prices are reasonable. The restaurant was clean and comfortable. They have handicapped parking and restrooms. They also have a ramp at the entrance. Our waitress was friendly and her timing was great. The service was prompt but not rushed. The seats were comfortable and the atmosphere was relaxing. A slight bit cozy while being nicely lit. We had a great time and will be going back.
I ordered a bowl of the clam chowder. One of the first times I can remember not finishing a bowl of chowder, was gelatinous muck. Also had the greek chicken wrap. Chicken was literally leather. Only ate 3 bites, waitress didnt question how it was after seeing I barely touched it. Giving 2 stars instead of 1 because mac salad and Cole slaw was good. Also, the person I was with enjoyed their food.
We arrived not long before closing and were treated in a friendly, welcoming way. The omelette was excellent, beautifully browned. Good food, good service and good value. Thank you for taking such good care of us even though it was time for you to be done. We’ll be back. This diner is so clean everything just shines.
My husband and I went for breakfast this morning. The building was cute, very much a country diner. The staff were very friendly and service was excellent. That’s where the good ends, though. Our food tasted weird, even the soda I don’t know how else to describe it... it just tasted off. The soda, the home fries, and the pancakes all had a weird after taste. The service was lightning fast, so I suspect the food had been cooked for a while and was sitting under a warmer.
My husband and I went to have a nice dinner out and never been here we drive by all the time so we stop by. The server we had was extremely rude from the moment we sat down she was trying to rush my husband into picking his drink by walking away as he was looking at the opinions and then she brought us our drinks which was just a lemonade and a water and I said thank you and she said “YUP” that was my husbands final straw and we left three dollars on the table and walked out. Worst experience ever will not recommend nor go back!
Whenever we are out in the morning, this diner is the best in the area for breakfast. Eggs are always cooked to perfection, meats are delicious and the service is always top notch and provided with smiles to boot. Weve only been in the area a short time, but its already a frequent go-to spot for us
Third visit the person in the entrance was rude. She didnt allow the dog without care about the ESA signal. Never come back. Price ok. Big piece of coconut cake, too sweet for me. My meal taste ok but it didnt look like a restaurant style. French toast was good. Clean enough but could be better. Good service
Sorry we bothered you with our Saturday pickup order. It wont happen again. Recently seems as though it is an inconvenience for you to take our order. Todays yet again botched order clearly speaks volumes about answering the phone. 2 of the orders were wrong and I dont know about the 3rd because it was for my son. Asked for mac salad w patty melt got fries. Asked med rare for this burger got skimpy well done piece of meat and no cheese. Asked for tuna club no fries or salad got fries. Asked for side order of Cole slaw and was curtly reminded of no substitutions got extra slaw anyways. We have eaten at the restaurant many times. Food and service always good. Apparently it is no longer acceptable to order for pickup. Too bad we have been ordering pickup for quite some time but its time to find someplace else where we wont feel like such a bother.
I was there today withy girlfriend and my parents. The food was very bland. But most of all our waitress was very rude and ignorant. We were very pleasent with her but for some reason she was not nice at all? She was actually that way with a few other guests at other tables? On the way out we talked with management about her, and hopefully they can have a talk with herShe is not a people person a people person at all.
Food was pretty good for the price. You can tell this place is full of regulars and they knew we werent. I would go back but probably not enough to makeregular status.I had eggs with corned beef but apparently i should have said with corned beef hash because my eggs came with lunch meat. They corrected it pretty quick. My daughter had pancakes. They were cooked perfectly and had great strawberries on them.
I go there every week for breakfast and like it. Wait staff could be a little more attentive and kitchen could be a bit more consistent. Went there for dinner once and the wifes steak, ordered medium well, came out very rare. Took three tries to get it well done. They did give her a new steak that last time and left the first for me!
All the food are fresh and delicious. As if they just bought the food that day. It has breakfast meals, lunches and dinners meals. Menu selections are big! Even children can eat there, little delicious meals, good selections too. I will definitely go back, after my very first time, eating there.
This place is between 3 and 4 stars. Good prices and they give you more food than you should probably consume in one sitting. The soups and sides were all great, its just that the main dishes were so lacking in flavor. If the main food had been on par with the other food this would have been an easy 5 stars.
The wait staff was slow and inept. The owner didnt even have the decency to tell us the kitchen was closed after we had ordered. We overheard him tell our waitress to tell us. The food was bland and seriously lackluster. Will not be returning, would not suggest . Id give it 0 stars if I could.
This was the 2nd or 3rd time that weve had lunch at this diner (so we keep coming back). We had the classic burger and (steak) fries. The food was delivered as ordered within an expected timeframe. The place has the usual diner atmosphere. Seating is ample and the seats (weve always been seated at a booth) are comfortable. The menu is extensive for a diner, even though we usually order the same thing. The burgers and fries were cooked perfectly - and as requested. Service was acceptable but not overly attentive...about what I would expect from a diner where 2 lunch meals will total around $15. About the only SLIGHT detraction was the attire of one of the wait staff, which was a little too risque for dinner clientele on a Sunday afternoon. Will keep going back when Im in the area!
Worst experience we ever had an 11 oclock reservation for party of 14 on Mothers Day for brunch we were seated and was told we could not order for at least a half hour because the kitchen was backed up with previous orders. Placed our drink orders and waited 40 minutes until the kitchen allowed the waitress to take our food order. Another 30 minutes goes by and still no food. Spoke with the manager who said theyre trying to bring our food out altogether which caused the delay, Meanwhile , several other people who sat down after us receive their meals . Requested the waitress to please bring the food out as soon as it was done because it was now 1225. Waitress was wonderful and she brought out our food as it became done. However some of our entrées were taken by other waitresses and given to other tables.Food continued to come out in pieces bacon without the eggs pancakes without the sausage, toast without the eggs etc...I asked to speak with the owner who was too busy to come out of the kitchen and sent the manager who offered us one free dessert for our inconvenience. YES ONE! I asked again to speak with the owner who would not come out and talk with us but sent our waitress to our table offering a 20% discount on our bill. Over two hrs for breakfast, food wrong and owner refused to talk with us. WILL NEVER GO AGAIN. Save yourself $$ and aggravation.
We have been driving by for years. Finally stopped and happy we did. Big full menu. So much to choose from. The Veal Parmesan was large. The very generous portion can easily feed two. Especially since it comes with soup and salad. Lots to take home. We will be stopping again!
Chicken Kabab over rice....one of my favorites!!! Soup & salad....💗 🍴 💗 everything was very good. Plus ...more than enough...as Ill have an extra meal tomorrow. Our waitress was wonderful also....made for a nice quiet evening at our local diner....after coming back from another sad gathering. 💗
The wife and I stopped here on our way back to town. It was last, about 30 minutes before they closed, and we were welcomed graciously in to a modestly yet nicely decorated diner with about 4-5 tables full. Not bad for a late Saturday evening in a small town. Our waitress was very friendly, patient while we perused the menu, and attentive during the meal. My wife really liked her spanakopita, and while my eggplant parm panini was a bit greasy (not unexpected), it was a nice sandwich with tasty sauce and great bread. Portions were huge and we had enough for lunch the next day. BTW, that sandwich was even better a day later. Desserts did not appear to be house-made, but our chocolate mousse cake was darn good. Even the restrooms were very clean.Next time were driving through, well stop in again. You should too.
So, very average diner, food was ok but a bit pricey, 2 eggs, English muffin, and fried potatoes with a medium OJ, and coffee, came to about 13 bucks plus tip, and I tipped well since the girl was working very hard cleaning up after her coworkers. 3 is an average score...I gave it a 2 because of the wait staff in general. See I walked in the door and the woman at the register says Be with you in a minute hun and so I waited patiently. She then walks away and disappears... 4 or 5 minutes later 4 people walk in, and this other waitress looks at them and says 4? Completely ignoring the fact that I was standing there. They said yes and she took them to be seated, a few seconds later another waitress comes over, must have seen the massive eye roll, and asks if Im waiting to be seated, I told her I was and I just wanted to sit at the bar. So she shows me to the bar and gives me a menu, she disappears.... 10 minutes later another waitress comes over and asks if Ive been helped yet, I said no, she asks if I even have silverware, I said no. She apologized and the rest of the experience went as it should, she was awesome, blond woman with fantastic body art.Now this waitress I left a good tip for because every diner has its accidents understandably... they forget a fork, or creamer, forget a drink, whatever, but its usually few and far between. Typically to the patrons it happens once every few visits, so most of the time you dont notice, but if you sit here and listen, it happens to almost every table... sometimes it was multiple things... the diner was maybe 1/4 full, if that, its wasnt real busy, most of the staff were standing around. No it was just simply staff not paying attention and this poor waitress that was serving me seemed to be running around behind all of the other waitresses picking up after them. They go to a table, disappear or start chatting, and my waitress busted her chops to see that the customers were taken care of including me.Anyway thats it... thats my gossip, food was meh, prices were a bit high, waitresses were too busy chit chatting, save 1... would I go back? Sure, it wasnt horrible, I just feel that if Im paying for a service, especially 13 bucks for eggs, toast, and a potato, then that service should be completed with the idea that the customers come first, and they are treated fairly, and equally.
My husband and I stopped here after a long country ride. We got seated almost immediately and order within a couple of minutes. I ordered the chopped steak medium well with mashed and the mixed veggies. Hubby ordered broiled pork chops, baked potato and the mixed veggies as well.We got our salad and soup. The salad was wonderful! The waitress put a basket of bread down and I saw green...I told her the bread was moldy and she replied, I just noticed that. She took that basket and came back with another. That bread was soft, fresh and warm.Out comes the dinners. I was starving and it sure looked good. I cut into my chopped steak and it was crumbly. There was no juice in it whatsoever. They put a minute amount of Aus Jus on it as, there were only traces of it on my plate. I dipped my piece of meat in the Aus Jus that I saw and all I could say was, this has no flavor! I go to eat my veggies and it was broccoli, cauliflower and carrots. I love that type of veggie. Well, the carrot was extremely hard. The broccoli and cauliflower were cooked fine. However, the veggies were bland also. Even the mashed potatoes, although having little flavor were mostly bland. I had to ask for a monkey dish of Aus Jus as, I couldnt swallow my chopped steak as, it was so dry. Even with the Aus Jus it was still dry.Hubbys meal served 2 very thin pork chops. Not restaurant style at all. He said they tasted ok and his baked potato was fine. The veggies came with the same complaint I had...They were bland and the carrots were extremely under cooked.Sorry, but I will never go back here. I think they need to hire a new chef that knows how to season things and cook. Its pretty sad that I had to say the best part of my dinner was the salad. Just not right at all. Waitress was a good server though or this post may have said, I wouldnt even give a 1 star.
Shrimp in a basket was alright. The nachos supreme....beef was bland. It was microwaved, so chips were soft and the shredded cheese was a little burnt. Gyro was made with beef. 🙄 Menu was unorganized and confusing to read. Way to many items. Jessica was lovely, service was on point.
Food was typical of a diner. My vegetable omelet was delicious and the homefries were crispy, but nothing special. My wheat toast was a bit salty. My friends bacon was crispy, sunnyside up eggs had firm whites, and French toast was thick, with a crunchy outside and soft inside. They got 4 stars instead of 5 because they dont have fresh fruit.
We stopped for breakfast....eggs pancakes sausage was great and talk about a good serving....there was no rush and Julie our waitress, everyone knew her by name and Julie was soo very nice and helpful..Would I eat there again, oh yeah. I do not live in that area so this diner is my go to place when I am..thank you for making the start of my day great..Buddy s.
Very friendly and casual environment. Prompt service with a very large menu. Impressed with the basics like fries, cole slaw, portion size, soda syrup level (Dont laugh, a lot of places screw this up) . Wife had the French toast and enjoyed it very much. I had a basic blt done well. Bacon was crisp like it should be. So glad it has reopened without the problems of the old owner. Bravo. Will be returning for another meal.
Visit on April 28th breakfast service was the worst service I have ever had. My husband and I were seated right away watriess came over to take our drink order 2 water and 1 coffee. Then the watriess came back to take our order we order a egg and cheese with Canadian bacon on English muffin there was no cheese. I had waffle with strawberry the waffle was hard. Once the watriess deliver our breakfast we never saw her again. I had to ask another watriess for boxes to take food home and she never did. I had to go to the counter to get boxes and pay my bill. We will never return there again. VERY BAD SERVICE.
Stopped here for lunch while traveling. Food was subpar for a diner. The French fries tasted like they soaked up the fryer oil, and the oil was putting off a funky flavor. The cheese on my grilled cheese also had a funny flavor. Might have been picked up a odor in the fridge or might have been old. The pickle looked dried out. Heard a couple complain about pancakes on the floor and they didnt order pancakes for their kids. By the time we finished eating, the flies in the building starting swarming us. Dont recommend eating here.
We went this morning for breakfast. My husband didnt even make it to the car to go home. He got diareha, I barely made it home myself experiencing cramps and diareha. Definitely food poisoning. Hopefully after the management sees this they will start with wiping everything down like chairs, tables, silverware and dishes with really hot water. Then go into the kitchen. Remind employees that they must wash hands often.
Great diner food, always consistent, I love their Salmon and spinach salad and the jumbo shrimp parm.... i try to get there after 4 as my experience has been, though the food is always good, the night chef really does a great job with my salmon and shrimp choices.....
Recent visit ordered Turkey Ruben Panini and a Pastrami Ruben Panini. Wifes turkey sandwich was cold and cheese was not melted. Dressing was not on sandwich, but a side. Waitress said sorry for the delay they had to tell the cook how to make the sandwich. Both sandwiches were on sabata bread/roll and was not a panini. I asked, before I ordered, if the pastrami was deli sliced. Waitress said no it was their own roast. No it was deli. While eating in the cold, another waitress had to ask me to give her the table jams and salt and pepper shakers so she could fill them, them just put them back on the table and expected me to put them back. Should have waited until we were gone. When I went to pay the bill I was asked how everything was to which I proceeded to tell her of the problems we had. She charged us the full panini price and not the regular Ruben price and never said a word - no sorry, thanks or come back soon: which we definitely will not.

2022-02-27This diner is one I need to visit much more often. Large Diner style menu, and the preparation is spot on.My table had a range of breakfast items: pancakes 🥞, omelets, poached eggs, all came out quickly and were made as ordered.I stole some of the pancake off my kids plate and it was fluffy inside with a lightly crisp outside, perfect. the chocolate chips made it way too yummy. The wait staff was all over us, would you want more of this, more coffee whatever we needed, even though it was busy, we got courteous, attentive and friendly service.Prices are reasonable too.

2022-02-01My daughter and I ate here last night. Food was good, server was polite and timely, prices arent bad for a diner. The woman at the register, I assume is the owner, was not very friendly and couldnt be bothered smiling. And I was charged 30 CENTS on my bill for 2 leftover containers. Is this new? We werent told there would be a charge. My daughter had half of a burger in hers, nothing else, so it seems theres a 1 size fits all container. Im not sure if this is a practice now in the capitol region but Ill be watching for it. Maybe Ill do what is expected at grocery stores now and bring my own container for leftovers. 😆 15 cents isnt a great hardship but come on... where does it end?

2022-06-12What a wonderful place to eat. Food is excellent and they have a vast menu from breakfast to dinner, a major plus greek food to select from! Prices beyond reasonable and we had leftovers to take home. Staff was quick and friendly we were lucky to get Kelly. This place is a must if you are any place near this location.

2022-06-22Good. We had breakfast but the rest of the menu looked good, too. Music drones in background, thats what the consultants advise owners, but at least its not oppressive.Good service. A pleasant place.

2021-07-03This place is a life saver. I came here after going to several other places around the area that had lengthy waits to be seated . I came I here explained my health issue and need to eat immediately. Their well trained hostess and wait staff had me seated in seconds orange juice over and menu with a rush on my food. Whilst I might not have even been in danger I thought I was and was served top notch food on the fly... I wish I could give this place 10 stars .

2022-04-09Great service, quick and delicious food. Near my job, so we’re always grabbing breakfast/lunch here. Favorite is their beef gyro ❤️ but you can’t really go wrong with whatever you choose.
