SEPHORA in other cities:
I visited the Lexington store today, when most of the saleswoman were without gloves, only one was with gloves. When I asked about any blush, the saleswoman touched with her finger and smeared on her hand to show color. She did not so much help because she showed a dark color and not mine. She also broke a tester on my leg, which was not gentle. then i thanked her and continued walking around the store, reaching my favorite company and holding a tester to see his number to purchase. Seals women # 2 approached me and told me do not touch the products. I asked her a simple question, what is the difference between me and one of the saleswomen that’s not wearing gloves? she brought the store manager to answer my question, that she did not know what to say. And I asked the manager again when I live in front of the store, do not turn around on trains, and take care of myself. I asked her about the difference between me and her seals woman no wearing gloves Who come to work on trains, touch their faces, and apply with their hands in the blush ??? She replied that the workers with gloves. When they were not! . And they are allowed and I am not. If she was wearing a glove I would not say a word. Then I continued with my products towards the checkout And take more products near the checkout, the saleswoman I was talking about , walks after me with alcohol spray and sprays spray in every direction I go on purpose next to me It really felt uncomfortable to me to be inside the store. It felt like she did really on purpose after me and I couldnt breathe. I felt uncomfortable, put down my products and walked out from the store. On the way out the saleswoman yells at me “ have a good day cynically. After such a thing . there is no chance that I will buy in this store any more. And Im a good customer of the branch. Very bad Costomer service.
I went to return a previously purchased foundation, because I was shade matched incorrectly, and I ended up buying the right shade. Therefore, I wanted to return the foundation I didn’t need. I was immediately accused of having fake receipts & stolen product because I was with someone who is Black. I had to clear my name with a manager and video footage of me purchasing the original foundation. I don’t shop here anymore. As in, I don’t shop at Sephora at all anymore. Direct to consumer is the only way for me. Thanks.
Staff are friendly but not overbearing (unlike some other sephora branches). Sometimes there is a queue but the staff bring out bottles of water for people which was a very nice touch. Im very impressed with the social distancing measures - you can buy whatever you want and return any of it in 30 days. You cant try anything in the store and they wipe down the cashier with sanitizer after every person!
The customer service wasnt too great here. I had to look for someone to help and when I finally did she seemed very agitated. I probably wouldve spent a lot more honestly had she been friendlier and willing to suggest products. Ended up just getting 2 things, which were basically what I went in for and spent just about $50. I think thats a first for me going into Sephora.
I used to work for the company so I know how important it is to greet and check on the customers. But I received none of that. Also The store wasn’t busy at all yet no one came to ask if I needed any help as I waited by the fragrance wall for 15 min. I had to walk up to a worker to ask for help.
My shopping experience was to say extremely disappointing. I wanted to purchase several products from skincare to Channel cologne to makeup. I asked several employees for help with locating products and the correct shade of color. One sales woman actually told me to wait for assistance and she just stood there in the skincare area! She was rude and strongly vocal. Actually I had all I could do to hold my patience! I then asked another salesperson and she said she couldn’t leave the fragrance area! I walked around the store and searched for some help but to no avail!I left my shopping basket with it’s contents at the front front door and left! I have been a faithful customer for 20+ years. I will never shop there again!Bloomingdales directly across the street provided exceptional customer service and I did find what I needed at fair trade prices!
I went after work to grab a product and literally got followed around the whole store , I don’t know if it was a race thing but no one else seemed to be .I literally saw the same employees follow me to the line and pretend to look at stuff behind me so I put the product back because I just don’t like the idea of companies behaving that way and of course the woman was literally at the exit even though she was helping someone at the opposite of the store. For there prices they should know better.
I came here one day after work to pick up a few essentials and a gift. The store was busy but, I had a hard time finding anyone to help me. After locating the items on my own, I went to check out. The line was crazy long as they only had two people on the register. I spent maybe 30 minutes waiting on line. The cashier was nice when I asked her which rewards they had available though. However, next time I am going to save the hassle and just order online.
The workers there dont take the time with you they rush you and actually kept looking at their watch like they on a set timer to spend with a customer! This happened with the first worker so.i excused her and got someone else after I found what I was looking for and then she also act like she was rushing me, after that I told her thank you and I left the store without any products, went where I usually go get my makeup from (Mac) was just going to try something new my friend suggested, will not be buying sephora!
Outstanding with so much freedom to play. No pressure or pushiness to buy, no annoying sales associate with the fake smile asking you if you need help every 2 minutes. I enjoy shopping here after work and also searching items as well as getting free samples that grow into me after a while and then I purchase the whole store after swatching unlimitedly...... Love this store more than any others plus Bloomingdales across the street gives me life.
Ive been to this a few times since I work in the area but during my visit after work on August 23rd 2019 and Im probably not going back there. The workers were okay when I asked for a product I couldnt find as they offered up alternative brands I could use or to order it in the store which was really nice. But as I was going through the store trying things out I asked an associate for her opinion she said she only spoke Spanish which is fine tbqh there were workers in the store to assist. What wasnt great and why they have two stars is because the young lady that helped me beforehand and then one who said she only spoke Spanish were both looking at me and laughing to themselves and CLEARLY saying in ENGLISH Why is she still in the store? I get associates get tired but it wasnt even 9:00pm yet how do you already want people out the damn store?
Love love this Sephora. Every time Ive been, the staff has been super helpful. It gets crowded and they should hire more people,- but Ive always found help when I needed it.Also, it helps if you go in with a positive attitude and not expect people to kiss your ass because youre buying face paint and flowery bath water. Ive seen staff horribly treated by entitled soccer moms who just have to have this shade of cranberry or Ill die!!!.Go in polite and youll be treated politely. Its basically that simple.
I had the pleasure of having Mabel help me out. I explained to her what i was looking for and what my major concern was. Im part if a bridal party and have dark circles under my eyes. long story short, she showed me a few selections, let me try them. She was very helpful and had that product knowledge. She helped me place an online order when they didnt have the concealer i wanted. Very sweet
Staff is nice overall. Problem is, its hard for color match specialists to do their job now, and Sephora decided to change its exchanges/ returns policies MID COVID, which means that the store wont honor mistakes made IN STORE by their color specialists unless it falls under their NEW timeframes. Given that theres always a long line at this store, it seems counter-intuitive to shorten the returns/ exchanges timeframe NOW, no? Just to further clarify, the *pristine, unused* makeup (purchased in the wrong tone due to in-store recommendation) I wanted EXCHANGED was from the Sephora Collection (their own brand). Sigh. Really? Look, makeup is sold everywhere, and many other chains offer better prices. What made Sephora appealing was the CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE. Thats a non factor now. I will not be returning---not to this store, not to purchase anything online.
After a day of shopping, I came in here to pick up a nail polish. With many shopping bags in hand, I was struggling a little comparing the shades. It wasnt busy at all, maybe one girl getting a make-over, as staff passed me, no one offered to help me. Disappointed. At least the cashier was really nice
One of their employees helped me pick out a color by letting me try it on. However, I had to go and find her to help me. It would be nice if someone would notice I was struggling to decide between colors and come over to help me out. Otherwise it was a decent experience.
Really good! Staff is super friendly and helpful. Tessa is really good with foundation! They have the brow bar too but this isnt as big as the Sephora at Columbus Circle so it doesnt really have the whole collection. They also started handing out free samples today because the queue to pay was super long! Bonus!
I made a reservation for a foundation mini service for 1:30. It says to arrive 10 mins prior to the appointment time, which I did. However when I alerted one of the staff, she told me to stand by the beauty studio and she let the team know I was there through her headset. So after waiting over 10 mins and no one came over, i told her and she found a higher up and this person was able to help me. The young lady that helped me find my foundation was very nice and she educated me on what foundations were good for my skin.
I love Sephora. It’s a fantastic selection of all the higher end beauty brands under one roof. I value my VIB membership status as it gives me good perks. Taking one star off for cleanliness. Some of the brands areas are really messy (eyeshadow remnants, smeared lipsticks). Staff is super helpful and NOT pushy. It’s a very different experience than at your local department store.
Have you noticed how going to Sephora is an instant mood lifter? It has that affect on you with all the bright packaging, free samples and helpful staff. Today Maryem did it for me with some thoughtful touches. We ended up walking in at the end of the day. She stayed, matched me, gave me helpful tips and booked a make over for my event. It was just kind. You stop expecting those little things everyday. But when they happen you can only but smile.
I am honestly not a huge makeup person but every time I come to this specific store I don’t feel so overwhelmed by all the different products. Generally speaking (if not always) I encounter a great sales associate who helps me figure out what it is I need and/ or tells me about products I may also like. Overall great customer service.
Received excellent customer service (and samples!) from this Sephora location. I like that the salespeople dont bombard you here. They give you time to look on your own and only sometimes simply ask if you would like help. They have it all here! Wish they would expand all-natural products line.
The sales associate in the skin cream area are always in rush and they are not willing to really help you to find the best match for your skin. Most of them are only concentrated in one or 2 brands.in addition, the alternative of products that you can redeem with point has decrease significantly. Now it is not worthy to be VIP or Rouge.
This was my first time at this Sephoras and one of the worst experiences Ive ever had. No one bothered to ask me if I needed help. I then asked this one employee,Joleen, for assistance mini contour session but was told they were booked. However, 5min later I see her helping someone else with a session. I approached her to ask her why she had told me they were booked and meanwhile she was assisting someone else and she started rolling her eyes at me, telling me I was wrong for approaching her and basically walked away from me; really unprofessional. She was straight up rude and had a horrible attitude. Another employee by the name of Kitty was nice enough to finally assist me with what I needed. Bottom line, this store needs help with their customer service skills. I will NEVER go back to there again!
While at the store, I dropped my very expensive powder by Marc Jacobs. . the box shattered on the marble floor and I was nearly in tears. It was my favorite cosmetic, since it makes my face dewy perfect, over moisturizer (though its just a white powder). Victoria, saw it happen and suggested I bring the pieces to the counter and exchange it for a new perfection powder. I was happy beyond words. All I had to do was to show my insiders card, she located the item and gave me a new one.All the staff is great, helpful and the store is full of fun goodies to try. Sephora is by far the best store in the world, considerate and caring, allowing women to try products and exchange them if they dont work .. Thank you guys.
Idk why all the bad reviews but the person helping me out was amazing !!!! She definitely took her time with me. I had a bad experience at Sephora in the Bronx bay plaza mall and explained that to her and she apologized for them. She showed me a variety of products and didnt pressure me to buy them. She taught me how to contour. Unlike the other sephora where the mua was rushing me and asking me if i wanted to look darker or lighter what the heck ? Idk thats why u are there to help me. Horrible. So thankful that i came here. Ill give them 4 stars because at the cash register i tried to express to the cashier of my wonder experience with the MUA and how my experience in the other Sephora was horrible she was dismissive and just wanted me out the way lol. I guess due the store being busy.
Usually, I love Sephora, but I hate coming to this location. This is the third time that I have been to this location and the third time I had a horrible experience. I went back to this location thinking that I would have a better experience, but I didnt. I will never go to this Sephora again. The staff are rude, disinterested, and act like you are wasting their time. Please do yourselves a favor and go to any other location (especially the one on the upper West Side)!
Welcome to Wonderland. Or the Magical Moment place. Or anywhere you have ever felt that you wanted to be when you entered a dream state and said, I have a fantasy about colors, cosmetics, perfume and smiles. This is Sephora on Lexington Avenue, and it is one of my favorite haunts whenever I need a little shopping therapy. One doesnt need a lot of money to make the day go right in this place; just a few dollars can make anything better once youre here. Just ask a sales rep for help and youre already healing.
Ok so I come to this location often, as it is close to my apartment. Everytime I come to this location I have an undesirable visit. Mostly all the staff have attitudes... they will purposely not help you even though you look lost, and if you do stop them they have attitude, especially the bald man at the register. I wanted to slap him the last visit. Sephora you really need to look at who you’re hiring to represent your brand. I’m thinking of becoming an ulta customer because of this. One star is for the cleanliness of this location.. that’s it.
Agreed some peoples comments terrible service. Ive shopped in other sephora many time but this one was the worst ever. I think the stuff here is very rude. I asked for Stila products and the stuff lead me to a eyeliner section which mix many brands of eyeliner there. Even after I pay, a black guy (I dont remember his name) just leave the bag without pull out the rope on the bag neither put some wrap paper inside. I will NEVER go to this store for good.
I visited the store at 60th and Lexington to get matched for a foundation. I wear make-up regularly however, I have never worn anything from sephora before so when I walked in I was greated by an employee who was at the door handing out shopping bags to the customers. I told her that I needed help matching my skin to a foundation and she communicated that to other members of her team via a walkie-talkie type device. I waited beside her for someone to come assist me but no one came. I was there for 20 minutes and she repeated the page 3 times but this was done to no avail. I told her that I would be back and under normal circumstances I would never go back after being treated with such disregard but I have a Sephora gift card that I received as a gift some months ago.
Absolutely THE worst Sephora I have ever been to (including the ones in Europe). Popped in with my kid in a stroller - even though there have been two employees chatting right by the door they didnt even think about holding it for me. Then they saw me looking for things for like ten minutes, didnt even occur to them to ask if I need any help. So when I told them I was looking for Smashbox travel size primer, Basket Case eyeliner and Sephora brand facial wipes - they didnt have anything... Oh, and if you think theyd help me with the door at least on the way out - they were too busy chatting right next to it again...
I am incredibly patient, but this location truly tests that. One representative asked me to wait, didnt come back for over 10 minutes. Figured she was a lot cause so I got the attention of another representative who said shell get someone for me. This second representative then identified a third representative saying that she will help me in just a bit. The third woman never came around. She literally ran circles around 3 or 4 times then I saw her applying makeup on someone at the makeup bar on the other side of the store.Mind you, this is a pretty busy store since it is in the city. Standing around waiting for any type of acknowledgement while shoppers with large bags continuously knock into, squeeze by, or shove you from all sides is not pleasant nor enjoyable- especially after getting off from work.Disappointing and a complete waste of time.
Rude staff. Asked about a certain product which apparently she had never heard of because she made me feel like an imbecile who was making things up for asking about it - despite the fact I had my old one in my bag. Im not sure what I was more pissed off by - the lack of basic knowledge of the ranges they have in stock or the attitude.
An amazing place, a million types, varieties, and you can test everything as well as have a professional test it on you and advise you. Some workers were more helpful than others - an amaaaazing gay guy did our makeup and advised us on what to buy, super helpful, but there were some staff that were less knowledgable - definitely worth a visit, just dont listen to everything the professionals say.
What a horrible experience. Im very mild mannered and understanding. I dont ever write reviews and esp not scathing ones. I just left this location as Im a big Sephora customer and despite this not being my regular location I have an expectation that I thought would be met. But alas, no. I had a 10:15 makeup apt and I arrived at 10:20 flustered from a late subway. I was immediately told she couldnt do my makeup bc it was 10:22 and I have another customer at 11. Now, Im not math metician but their makeup apts are 45 minutes thats barely under that time frame and Ive had many makeup applications from Sephora where were 30/35 mins and wonderful. She then proceeded to tell me she could do one of the quick services. Hence quick. I chose the conceal one and sat down feeling pretty detested. Considering she wasnt even being very nice and acting like it was a burden to her TO DO HER JOB. She started at 10:25 and finished at 10:40 (with a 5 min break in between to let it set) but really she was talking with her coworkers up front I left with avoid 20 mins left in my apt where she could have most DEFINITELY done my makeup. I wasnt looking for full face/evening gown makeup by a nice natural day look that would take 25/30 mins. But no. I was rushed out of there and made to feel like I was a burden to her day bc I was a few mins late and she wasnt even understanding or considerate. Its safe to say Ill never go back to that location for makeup application again. Roxie is her name and I hope for future clientele she doesnt treat them in this way.
Place is super busy!! Not enough sales staff to assist so when they do come they seem rushed. They remain very friendly and courteous but I cannot help but noticing that they also have the next customer on their mind. Location is a bit too small for the amount of traffic that goes through there!
I was approached two times by different employees, first for the chair that I was using while trying on make up, and second I had to leave the mirror completely. They wanted the chair and then the space for some brow class that they were going to teach. Its really not what you say, its how you say it. I totally felt sidelined and disrespected.
I only shop for cosmetics at Sephora, Im obsessed with it and I love it, Ive been a VIB rouge for years. This is the closest Sephora to my office, but even so I would rather go 20 minutes away than enter this place. Always a crazy line no matter the time, never have products in stock, GWPs are always out (saved up so many points this way though!), staff is dismissive and severely understaffed. This is by far the worst Sephora Ive ever encountered. Needs help.
This sephora (like most except the sephoras in jcpenney) have everything I need/want/love and theres always some really sweet, professional crew member always willing to help u with whatever u need. FYI: this is not the usual sephora store I go to. I usually go to the one in union Square but this particular store came very close xoxox
So this is like open?!!! We went to many different Sophora stores, but no open, we worry about these not open today, so we searched information last night and this morning... they all showed open, right now on those map still like open😭😂today’s soooo freezing and we walk like couple hours... OMG😭
I shop at this location all the time and spend so much money here and all the employees there are so rude everyone just stands around and never wanna help out customers I went today to shop for a few things and was there just running around the store to get one person to help me and not one employee helped me out

2022-02-15I went to Sephora yesterday on Valentine’s Day and had a great experience. I’m usually pretty lost when coming to Sephora (so many options). Nobody bombarded me with questions or followed me around which was a change. As soon as I asked for help, I received it right away and found the products I was dying to get. They were extremely helpful and polite. And the cashier I saw was also very helpful (don’t worry about the receipt) haha 😉Overall I had a lovely experience and I’m excited to purchase more products from this Sephora! 🖤

2022-04-25Maybe people are just burned out from the pandemic or these people weren’t having a good day, but I didn’t enjoy my experience here. I asked one associate to help me figure out the difference between some translucent powders and he literally laughed/sneered at me. As someone that works in healthcare and really doesn’t have the time or knowledge for makeup, I was very offended. I don’t know subtle differences between shades, especially of a product I have never used. Maybe it was a silly question to him but for me, I just wanted to clarify a confusion. And I asked nicely.Another associate literally stared at me when I asked her if she worked there. She looked very unhappy to be there, which I can understand, but she was giving me attitude when I asked her a simple question. I gave 3 stars and not 1 because another associate was very nice, patient and helpful.Overall a traumatizing experience for someone that is already nervous to go to Sephora because of fear of being judged for not knowing makeup products. I simply don’t have the time or money to know as much as they do about products. Would like to say I’m never coming here again but I probably will have to. Hope these associates will be more understanding next time.

2022-07-20Horrible customer service. I trusted the people who were so desperate to help me to give me great advice on what skincare to purchase. I ended up purchasing the most expensive products Ive ever purchased (for example, 50$ for eye cream) and they did not work. Very disappointed.

2018-12-16Every conceivable brand of cosmetics under the sun, under one roof. Cosmeticians available strictly by appointment, on a paid basis. All staff are very friendly and helpful.

2022-03-18Worst customer service. I asked someone for help on a shade match and she just ignored and walked past me. I asked another person for help who only pointed in the direction of other workers who weren’t willing to help. Never coming to this store again

2021-07-22I had Laura today and she was a SWEET HEART. It definitely was the end of her shift and she was already running around helping others but If undivided attention was a person it’d be her. She asked detailed questions and even help me stay on sort of a budget. She gave opinions and recommendations that were extremely helpful! She paid attention to my skin and literally ran around the store with me making sure I had everything needed!! I hope she has a blessed life!! I will be back and I hope she’s there to help!

2021-11-29I had a pick-up order and this process was swift! They had my order ready and I was able to check-out a few more items at the pick-up counter. Very convenient! Sephora is a girls candy store!
