I went to this SEPHORA because I in the area shopping and decided to surprise my 15yr old granddaughter with some makeup. I asked for suggestions from a worker. I told the worker why we were there. She immediately turned and asked my grand Why would you want to wear makeup ?. At which time I turn to the her woman and REMIND her that I said it was a SURPRISE! The woman then insisted on asking my granddaughter her opinion about colors, foundations, etc. I insisted that the woman speak to ME. She insisted on speaking to the child. At which time, my daughter took my grand and walked away. 5 minutes more and we were asked to move to the register because they were closing. I will never go back to that SEPHORA again.
I have been shopping at this location for the past two years , the staff here is amazing. They are so friendly the minute you walk in and you get help immediately. They always know whats hot on the market and they follow all protocols for COVID, Super clean and safe. The store itslef is small but well organized. Difficult customers like me who have eczema and dermatitis often need special sensitive products and the staff here takes their time to listen to all your needs, and they are so generous in samples too. I also had a funny mission of finding lipstick from a movie AVA and we played that video over and over again until we found it in the store- now thats what I call dedication!
George was fantastic to work with and recommended some great new scents for me. He was very considerate and polite and made me feel like I was the most important person in the store. I highly recommend working with George when it somes to mens colognes and other recommendations!
I normally do not leave reviews but I am so happy with my purchase and overall experience that I felt compelled to leave a comment. I just wish I could remember the gentleman’s name who assisted me because he was beyond nice! He took his time to show me different fragrances from all sides of the spectrum from fruity to floral to fresh and even spicy until we found the right one for my mom! Such a warm and professional demeanor and the most unique aqua eye glasses! Thank you Sephora! I definitely recommend this location to potential shoppers!
I was greeted when I entered the store. The sales associate was pleasant and helpful but the cashier was extremely rude. There were about five cashiers at the registers just standing around talking. The cashier that rung up my items seemed extremely annoyed when I asked him to give me a few seconds to pull up my Sephora VIB card (which literally took me a few seconds to access in the Sephora app). He shrugged his shoulders and rolled his eyes. I was completely disappointed with the service especially when I could’ve purchased the items from any department store or Ulta. I like Sephora but because of my experience with the cashier I won’t shop at Sephora again.
I had a great experience at this store. I came in looking for makeup that wouldn’t hurt my acne prone skin; i was so confused about what to get but Fjorela help me to find some products (you can’t really try anything at the store right now) When i got home I tried it on; it was everything I wanted! The staff is so nice and helpful. Will be coming back. Thanks! P.S. Sephora should change the system that uses for surveys it’s just too complicated to use on a smartphone and/or with an emailed receipt.
Betty was awful I dont think she knows what shes doing at her job as a sales person at a make up store.When a customer dont know about make up and trying to figure it out, how could you just put some product on their face and leave them behind and jump onto other customer and dont even give you any appropriate advice and leave you hanging.Gladly I ask Charisma and she was so professional at assisting me.
I havent been to the Sephora before, very close to Time Square but not the two that are actually in Time Square. This location is huge. I absolutely love it, once the pandemic is over I will definitely be going to this one more. The brow bar upstairs, an area close to the elevator for the Brow Bar for classes, the people who work here are amazing, the music is popping!!!! Love love love love this Sephora!
Unhelpful. Every time I go in there they seem totally Oblivious to what’s happening around them. One sales rep says one thing, and then the next time you go in there it’s something totally different. I strongly suggest Diversity with people of like Melanocytes. Or they say one price and then the next tome you go in it’s another price. It’s like they don’t really want to help. Thanks I’ll keep my money in my purse.
I have been to this store for a Perk Treatment on the evening of April 26th. The professional that provided the service was ERICA - she has been PHENOMENAL! First of all she smiled, and it was not just a polite smile, it was a smile of someone, who truly enjoys their job. I felt lucky to be her client: she was very fun, highly knowledgeable and skillful. I literally felt like I had a SPA treatment and forgot that I was in a store. I highly recommend this location and this particular beauty & skin care expert/advisor: Erica.
This Sophora is big and beautiful. Despite the store being jam packed everything was in its place and seemed to be well stocked. They have plenty of employees and most of them seemed to be very busy helping all the customers, some even helping several people at the same time. BUT there were a few of the employees that had nothing better to do but stand around gossip with each other and avoid the customers. It was just so crowded and hard to get help because the employees that were working just couldnt split themselves anymore and offer the proper attention that I had to walk out. It takes just a few bad apples to ruin the whole bunch.
This Sephora is really good. In case of ladies, you are the luckiest all the time! Almost all the shop is about makeup and best brands of it. Also, the best service in terms of the attendants always willing to help out on the products that fit best for your skin type and they’re very patient. For men, you get the best fragrances like Tom Ford and other brands. You can always ask for a sample, however, they’re allowed only to give you 3 different samples. Hence, you could ask anyone who are in the shop to go and ask for a sample for you 😆😉. Enjoy!
I was there yesterday for the foundation class! The workers were extremely helpful, thank you eddy and carol for teaching us so much and taking your time out to help us in every way possible! They recommended us cream,foundation according to our skin type! If you guys are ever there look for eddy and carol they’ll help you in every way and will make sure you leave the store with everything you wanted
Really love the company, but not location been here several times and every time I got into the store, employees never asked if I need help but are so easy to follow me around thinking I’m stealing . I’ve been doing makeup for 9 years I take my time while shopping for makeup so I know to get the right products I need. Well today I’ve entered the store with my boyfriend and I’m not Insecure at all. Me and him walked in and was greeted but there was a young lady that work there with all black short and tan alittle chunky and right when she sees my boyfriend she stares right at him like she wanted him and keep staring I find it very disrespectful and unprofessional for a worker to do that. Obviously I said something to her. But that’s very unprofessional honey and not cute at all . Like I know he looks good thanks for the complements but back off ❤️
I had an amazing experience yesterday in Sephora store. I had the full-face makeover with Tiffany G, she was very professional and friendly. She did her job for 100% and even more.Also I had a photo shoot the same day and I came with blow dry from another salon but it didn’t look good; so Tiffany asked a hair person to fix my hair as well. It was very nice of them that without appointment they took me. And I was short on time, so without explaining something, they understand me, so my makeup was done in short time and hair as well, they came to me to swipe my card, to pack my purchases, everything was very quick done and professional.Sephora team did very good and professional job for me. Especially thanks to Tiffany G.
Makeup Artist Josh rudely came over and told my girlfriends mother to move from the makeup chair because it was his station, eventhough she was seated there by another makeup artist. Very unprofessional and rude.Another makeup artist that helped us however was very nice and courteous. We really appreciated her help.To be fair to the very nice makeup artist, Im giving this review 3 stars, but absolutely 0 stars based on the rude and unprofessional way we were treated by Josh.
Was really disappointed in this years September event. Got up early and skipped my usual Saturday am walk, to attend this event. Hardly any company reps attended, and very few samplesI think Im better off any more ordering directly from company websites, when they have friends and family sales--like Kate Somerville, Sunday riley, and tatcha. Wish I could no star review--the one star rating is overly generous.
I am disappointed in the level of customer service at this location. I was shopping in skin care holding 2 products I wanted more information about. I made eye contact with 7 employees (I counted) and not one asked me if I needed help. They all quickly looked away and kept walking. I finally approached the 8th employee I saw and he looked annoyed I asked for assistance. He rudely said he world try and call someone to help me bc he couldn’t. I just put the products back and left. I love Sephora as a company but this location was subpar to say least.
This Sephora is my favorite! Everyone is lovely and helpful. All of Narmeens advice has helped clear up my skin. Not only are her product recommendations awesome but she shows me exactly how to use the products. This is extremely useful when I need to apply new products at home. She is a gem of a person and you guys are lucky to have her.
Had a great experience with my first full face makeover by Alyssa. She really took the time to explain each step, and the benefit of each makeup tool I wasnt currently using due to fear of messing up, but was never pushy or sell-y. Got a compliment on my makeup just 1 hour later! :) Thanks Alyssa!
I was extremely happy with the service I received at Sephoras everyone was right on point people address you as soon as you come in the door and were eager to help me find the pencil I was looking for even though they werent able to find it . They helped me find a different one. So I went out happy with my purchase they have top-notch people working for them for them
.While different personnel in Sephora can make or break that positive experience, Human Resources should be applauded for their great eclectic mix in many of their locations..Product display is still top notch, although staff seem to be a bit too careful these days with sample viles of various scents. It does put a person off when generous policies are restrained all of a sudden..Not sure what is going on with plain clothes security personnel. Loss prevention appears to have overtaken good manners..Since most all the products that Sephora stocks are available in multiple venues these days, someone need take a long hard look at how Loss Prevention does their job..Food for thought, as the buying public can be very sensitive to even subtle slights or mere lapses in judgment..
One of my favorite places to be! Staff were really helpful when I needed to find items and needed suggestions. The have a great selection of ole henricksen products at this location...and Tatcha brand! Even security was friendly to me an my child that was a plus. The best place to shop for high end makeup products. Almost every product has a tester so you can always try before you buy. This is how I found my new favorite products. The sephora sets that have a variety of miniature high end products is a fantastic way to explore your options to find which products are best for you.
I went to this Sephora when I was in NYC for a weekend for the 14-15-16 of July. I was lucky enough to get an amazing woman called Erika (or Erica) give me a quickie facial. She was THE BEST! She was so kind and helpful and explained all the products she used precisely. She also gave me a short neck and should massage that was JUST what I needed after a day of walking and sight seeing! If you go to this store, be sure to ask for Erika!
I stopped by here in the last hour before the store closed to check out the new Fenty collection. Robert was SOOOO helpful, and really showed me so much awesome foundation and makeup that I ended up getting the Fenty, plus some Benefit foundation, an eyeshadow primer and some cleanser. Good customer service goes a long way, and I really appreciated his patience with all of my questions. Will definitely be coming back there, getting my makeup done by Robert, and buying more from this store in the future. Thank you!
Got no help. I never wear make up so buying it is super awkward for me. I tried so hard to flag someone ANYONE for help but to no avail. I eventually got frustrated and left empty handed. I will try one more time and if I get just 1 person to notice me and try to help me Ill change my review.
My in law was wanting to buy the Channel No. 5 - There was a tag price showing the value. She always dreamed with this iconic perfume. And can buy it in a Sephora located at Fifth Avenue... it would be very special. But when we was in the check out, the price was another... more expensive than the tag price was showing.The cashier said that she didnt know the prices. And after that, we took a photo of the price tag. It wasnt enough and she asked to a employee for checking the price. He brought the price tag for us showing that price tag didnt belong to the Channel No. 5. That price tag was about the Channel No. 5 Première. I asked for the employee: Where is the price of Channel No. 5 there? (in the showcase). He answered: There isnt price there. The cashier wanted to get rid of us and gave an ultimatum: Do you will want or no?. They didnt care with the huge mistake. We gave up of the perfume. And certainly, we gave up of Sephora.
Staff seems to be more concerned with staff jokes about customers than actually providing customer services.Derogatory comments/jokes were made about foreign customers, in full view of other customers.If these comments had been made about the staff, hypocrisy would have been called into play.Avoid this location.
I had a wonderful time at the Sephora 5th avenue location. I came in for the complimentary 45 minute makeover session and Robert was my makeup artist. He did a beautiful job on my makeup which I needed done for a job interview. Robert was very lovely, pleasant, and on par with everything I requested in terms of my makeup.
First time in NY first time time in sephora 5 th aveAnd I had a great experience. I got a custom makeup by Eddanette,I was very pleased with the service ,all staff of the store make me feel.like a quien for one day.every one were very nice very helpful and I thank them all.
Yesterday, we randomly went in the Sephora store and checked the fragrance corner as always. We were not suppose to purchase anything but Julion came and offered us a customized fragrance. At first, my cousin got a fragrance for her mom and Julion put for mommy word on the glass bottle of it in our language as she wanted. It looked so cool and i decided to get one too for my mom. When i gave it to mommy, she was SUPER happy for the surprise gift and i felt like a hero :-) thank you, Julion. You are the best Sephora staff ive ever met
The issue with this Sephora is that it has a tight/claustrophobic layout (it feels like the aisles are particularly packed and narrow) and is constantly crowded with all the folks shopping 5th Ave or working around the area. No matter when I go theres a swarm of people inside and a fairly lengthy line (though the line did move relatively quickly). Some of the sales associates over by the skincare aisle are also a bit pushy / intrusive when you try anything on.Not my favorite location, but the selection is broad in that you can find most of the major brands here.

2021-06-12I had a chance to visit this Sephora during a quick trip to NYC, and I was impressed by the selection of brands and items they carried.However, I am very disappointed to see that a Guerlain foundation that I purchased at this Sephora (a huge splurge/treat for myself!) on May 19, 2021 was expired. A sticker on the bottom of the bottle said the expiration date was EXP 0421/April 2021.While there is only one months difference between the expiration date and my purchase date, it still meant that the product was technically no longer safe to put on my face the minute I purchased it. If Im going to spend money on foundation, especially from a major store like Sephora, I would like to know that safety is guaranteed.Plus, foundation is supposed to be safe to wear for about 12-18 months -- with this purchase at this Sephora branch, that time was already up, and continuing to wear the product would not have been healthy for my skin.When I called Sephoras customer service about this, I was told that I was pretty much out of luck, since I no longer had the receipt (Ill admit, the receipt was lost in the shuffle during my NYC trip). Even though I still had the foundations original box, it was useless without the receipt. Plus, the representative made little effort to provide any kind of remedy to the situation: All I wanted was the chance to exchange the product for one that wasnt expired.Ive been a loyal and longtime Sephora customer, and I was shocked to be dismissed on the call so quickly. (I tried to be nice during the post-call survey by picking out the positives of the interaction. But thinking back, I feel like the customer service experience could have been more helpful.)Anyway, just a word to the wise for others who visit this store: check the expiration dates of the products you purchase there and dont lose your receipts! Also, consider making your purchases online since, according to the Sephora customer service representative I spoke with, its easier to track purchases made online without a receipt.I hate to say that because I want to support Sephoras brick and mortar stores; but if those stores cant keep their shelves stocked with non-expired goods, then for customers, its worth considering other options.

2022-01-31I had an amazing experience shopping in this store. The girl working there was super helpful, she tried and showed me a few brands and colors of makeup until we found perfect one for myself. As I am someone who is not makeup fanatic and definitely amateur I got a lot of good tips and tricks from her, and we had very friendly chat during this makeup trail. I cannot remember her name, I think its Trish, but not sure. Thank you girl, you helped me a lot 💗

2022-01-10This location is absolutely terrible. I made an appointment for NYE for a full face makeup application. I have been to plenty of other locations in NYC where they did a fantastic job (shoutout to Christina at the east 86th st location!) Unfortunately, the woman who did my makeup at this location was absolutely terrible, I am not the best at applying makeup but what she completed for me was something I could have done at home myself. I came to receive professional services and when I pointed out what I didn’t like she was giving so much attitude and trying to convince me that it looks good. That definitely did not sit right with me because if I am the customer and I was not satisfied and that was my opinion for no one else to try and have me think otherwise. She ended up calling the manager over and had to teach/ lead the girl what to do to fix it. At some point, I just let her finish and I paid and headed over to the other side of the store to remove her work because it was just so embarrassing!! The manager comes over to me and says let me give you your money back, i said I don’t really care about that. She goes on to tell me but your taking your makeup off right in the store… excuse me????? After the poor job the lady did, the least you can do is let me take it off so I don’t have to walk out embarrassed!! I HIGHLY DO NOT recommend this place if you were to get your makeup done. First and last time at this location!!!

2022-02-19Horrible staff. Condescending. They had different dr jart masks all on the same display stand with a sale price on it. And when i was going to buy it: I was treated like I should have known better that only certain masks were on sale. Mentioned it to another associate and got the same attitude. Ulta is better and staff is less snooty.

2022-01-06The least attentive staff in all of Manhattan. I walked around for almost 10 minutes roaming the aisles and was never greeted or asked if I needed help; the staff was too busy chatting amongst themselves. I finally approached an associate, but she had to hand me off because she didn’t know if they carried sunscreen…? The “more informed” person she brought over suggested a body oil when I asked for a hydrating post-sun item…oil is not a hydrator, but an occlusive product that prevents water loss by creating a seal on the skin. This associate didn’t offer another option or even ask if that was in line with what I was looking for. I walked away because clearly their product knowledge is lacking and the customer service was just terrible.
