Got to the hotel and checked out for what was the closest Italian joint. Not expecting anything except for great food we went here for a late dinner. Typical hole in the wall. But awseome food and bottle of wine. I am sure partly just the fact it was our first meal in NYC on this trip....but seriously the pasta was awesome. The paninis were awesome. Would be a regular place to go if I lived here.
We randomly found this very nice Italian Restaurant, off-side the crowded main streets and only touristic oriented other restaurants.The stuff is very friendly and helpful.We needed Pasta for carbo-loading for the NYC Marathon 😉We got our Pasta very fast and they cook it fresh. It tastes very delicious and fresh.We can absolutely recommend this fine restaurant!
This spot slays. This is their vegetable panini and it was simple, focused and super tasty. Eggplant, zucchini, marinated mushrooms and broccolini dressed with really nice olive oil. As a meat eater I love trying veg options at new places — if they can make this stuff sing I’m psyched to see what they can do with meat. So bummed I only found out about Sergimmo after working in the neighborhood for 10 years but I’ll be making up for that lost time by eating there regularly from now on.
We only tried two sandwiches (the #3 Emelia Romagnia with prosciutto, mozzarella, spring mix and pesto and the #24 Di Francesca with chicken cutlet, mozzarella, sweet peppers and artichokes) but unfortunately we were not impressed. The bread was tough and the chicken sandwich lacked flavor and had only a single, thin cutlet.I wouldnt write this place off completely but there were other items on the menu that sounded appetizing which I would recommend trying instead.
A legit Italian deli, like I grew up eating at. I had turkey, prosciutto, and fresh mozzarella on a baguette. It was delicious! Everything was fresh and you could taste that theyre using good quality meats. The bread was chewy and crusty, although not my favorite. I liked that it was thin and it had a nice flavor, but I dont like when the breads are super dusty with flour on the outside. Either way, it was a great sandwich! If we werent taking it to go, Id love to have tried a panini. Maybe next time.
Wow - I was in search for some great tasting pasta, and I found some amazing tasting pasta! The sauce was so rich and creamy, the tortellini tasted freshly made - my only regret is finding this restaurant on my last day in New York. The restuarant itself is very clean and the staff is great!
This feels like the place you’re gonna get whacked. Like you go in, ask for a sandwich and WHACK. You’re swimming with the fishes. Lol I’m just playing. Sergimmo salumeria is great 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 very delicious Sammie’s and it has a ton of other stuff. Place has seating room for your butt.
Took 10 min to make one cappuccino and one espresso, and we were the only ones there. When it came the espresso cup was full of coffee grains inside and out. When I politely pointed it out, all they could say way yeah. Also, poor ambiance with the radio blasting. I would not come here again.
My fiancé and I came here 3/13/21 and we enjoyed our food, I had the special of the day which was a chicken parm and my fiancé had a veggie sandwich. We both enjoyed our meals the place was pretty empty he and I and one other person sat in to eat & others came in ordered and left. I’d definitely recommend stopping by if in the area.
(December 2020)This is an unassuming place on 9th Avenue, squashed in between a smoke shop and something else. Its very easy to miss and we certainly would have passed by if it hadnt been for a friend stopping in to purchase a salad.The menu is written on the chalkboard wall and seems to cover all sorts of Italian sandwiches under the sun. I was immediately drawn to the fig and prosciutto sandwich - which sounds like an odd pairing-- but worked wonderfully. My partner- although he now cant remember what he ordered-- absolutely loved it as well.We also bought a 1.5 liter San Benedetto ice tea. At $5, it seems pricey, but when we returned to the hotel room to eat, it was an amazing drink! We would actually return to this location to pick up more tea for the trip home.I feel my review doesnt really doesnt really do justice to how great this place is, but I would certainly return in a heartbeat.
Their sandwiches are authentic and creative. I always get the V.I.P sandwich. Their seating area is kind of small but I usually get it to go anyways. Definitely one of the better Italian eateries in the neighborhood. Took my friends from out of town and they loved it.
Simply put, this is one of the best Italian sandwich shops in the city. You can get overwhelmed by the selection of items handwritten in chalk on the wall. Fret not -- just order whatever you want and theyll whip it up. Give serious consideration to keeping it simply with a prosciutto, mozzarella, hot peppers sandwich -- super fresh and reasonably priced. I have also had the lasagna, which is excellent.Although this is primarily a take-out place, there are a few seats available (though at the lunch rush you may have folks waiting in line hovering over you). Credit cards are accepted but cash allows for a slight discount.
It was okay. Staff seemed more interested in continuing their conversation In back, rather than taking our order. Up front, the Mozzarella sticks seemed like generic pre-made. The side of sauce saved it from 1 star. The Italian Wedding Soup had some very good ingredients, but it was so heavily salted i couldnt finish it. The selection looks great and Id go back to try something different.
Sergimmo continues to deliver the best traditional Italian foods in Midtown. The bread, sandwiches, fillings, cured meats, and hot dishes are all absolutely delicious. A go-to for all sorts of neighborhood folks, regularly drawing customers from 40 blocks away. Oh man, now Im going to have to go get another sandwich tomorrow 😊
Expensive for what you get. Pasta with ragu at $19 seems to be made with bowtie pasta from a box. Size is regular and the sauce was better than average. The paninis actually appear to be sandwiches on baguettes. The Emilia Romagna had prosciutto and homemade mozzarella at $12. It was decently good, but pricey. Theres a sign saying they dont take credit cards on weekends, which is puzzling considering there wasnt another dine-in patron there on a Saturday night. Theres also a credit card surcharge fee of 4%, which seems like a bad business decision to me because it almost deterred me from trying their food since I almost never carry cash.
Great Italian deli with amazing mozzarella! Had the number 4 Lombardia which was lovely grilled chicken with cheese and all the trimmings. Will definitely be back to try more. A little more expensive than your average sandwich spot but worth it as the ingredients are fresh. Careful at lunch time as it gets busy so know what you want to order! Staff were friendly and the lunch specials sounded great too. Some of the regular customers were on hand with recommendations.
My rating is a 4.5* because the last time I went there it was a little worse than usual. In general, though, this place has delicious (if expensive) sandwiches with high quality meats and cheese and a fig spread that is so delicious that it makes every other sandwich shop seem inferior. I also like that its always open and it gets extra credit for being so good in a block that largely has forgettable food. Dont worry about the lines during lunch hour, as the service moves fast.
I only wish there was a place this magical in the city i live in. With their artisan made meats, cheeses, and their to die for pastas, you wont regret coming here! The great food is matched with quick and friendly service even during a busy lunch time. In the event I get another opportunity to go back to New York, Ill definitely be making a stop here ;)

Fantastic low key Italian with good food, decent mid priced wine - lovely rustic atmosphere, great & reasonably priced option if doing theater in the mid-30s & its better than most of the fine dining Italian spots in theater district. Get a meat & cheese plate, get a salad, most definitely get a cannoli (very fresh cream)
I was in the city on business and found this deli and tried it out. It was close to closing when I ordered my meal to go but all in all it was very good. I guess I expected more of the Italian experience but it was close to closing so I understand. The meal tasted very good and the staff very friendly. I will be definitely try again. Thanks.
We have been impatiently waiting for Sergio and Mossimo to reopen this Deli in Queens since Strawberry Farms caught fire.Great location, Family hospitality, AMAZING quality meats, breads, and cheeses. There is none who makes a better tasting homemade mozzarella around the neighborhood... Prices are not or out this world for what you get... BUT DONT FORGET YOUR CASH, NO CREDIT.
The chicken pesto panini + balsamic vinegar was amazing here. It was definitely filling enough and the mozz was so so so fresh and delicious. What a refreshing lunch that didnt boggle down me too much into a slump. If I worked near here, I totally would get this for lunch almost everyday, theres so much to choose from - next time I should try their pastas. It was a bit confusing when coming in for a lunch rush - youre supposed to line up at the place opposite the fridges and then pay at the register on the right upon the entrance. They should probably invest in some signs so that Im not like a crazy person in a crowd..They call your name when they get to your receipt and you pay at the register. They also have a discount if you use cash!
We were looking for an Italian restaurant within walking distance of Penn Station. So glad we decided on this location. My Panini (#7) was amazing (soppressata, fresh mozzarella, hot peppers, arugula). My wife and our friend both had Pasta Al Pomodoro with an added meatball and were both equally enthusiastic about this restaurant. Add to that a reasonably priced bottle of wine and a relaxing unpretentious environment and this place is an easy 5 star rating.
Really good little deli. The vodka sauce and the meat, cheese, etc. are top-knotch. I got the chicken parm sandwich and it had some kind of prosciutto on it with mozz and a vodka sauce (daily special). I was full for hours! Please be aware that on weekends, they dont take cards. Thats really inconvenient and I think they should change their policies because its turning away customers.
I seriously want to buy this place and bring it to DC with me. Simply fantastic. I wish i could rate this place 6 stars.I had read many excellent reviews on this place and decided to give it a shot. The better part was that I decided to buy food for 5 people from here and bring it 200 miles back to DC with me. The staff was great and packed everything well. They even had the courtesy to separate the cream from the cannolis so they would not get soggy (which worked out great). Needless to say, the comments were:The regular lasagna - amazingThe vegetarian lasagna - Unlike other vegetarian lasagnas Ive had. This is the best ever madeThe cannolis - these are the best cannolis Ive ever had in my life! The cream IS PERFECT!!!!Baked ziti - ExcellentThe Il Vip - excellent chicken, fresh pesto! :)Uber bonus: It is 3 blocks from Penn station. This means you can grab a few plates of food to go and bring it with you.
If you ask me, I would say this is one of the best Italian sandwich restaurant there is in NYC, literally! The moment you step foot through those doors, you automatically feel like you are transported to Italy, but in midtown. The place may be a bit tight and packed, but I can assure you that their sandwiches are way better than supreme, its beyond supreme! To order is quite simple: look through their GIANT chalked-wall menu, head to one of the counters to place your order, pay from the other counter, step aside and wait until your name is called, pick up and enjoy! I ordered the Di Franchesca (#24), which consists of fried chicken cutlet, mozz, sweet peppers, artichokes, EVOO on their signature bread, and crema di balsamic. There is no doubt that I downed it all, but its just that good even though it might seem like it can be a two person meal. You can taste the freshness of each layer and best of all, most of the ingredients are made in house, or imported directly from Italy. You are not limited to only sandwiches since they serve other Italian dishes, but to go for the full experience, you might as well get the sandwiches instead! Definitely heading back there even if the wait can be long!
Located near many of NYs theatre rehearsal studios, as well as near Penn Station, this is one of my very favorite lunch spots. I usually pick up one of their panini, which are sizable, but not grossly overstuffed: fresh, chewy bread, with fresh meats and delicious homemade mozzarella.My go-to is the Veneto, #7: the sopressata is thinly-sliced and nearly melts in the mouth, and comes dressed with the aforementioned mozzarella, sliced hot Italian red peppers, and a drizzle of balsamic vinaigrette.If you have a companion, try splitting the antipasto plate. Everything is fresh and full-flavored.Even though there is usually a line, service is very quick and efficient, and you wont wait longer than a minute or two to order. Once you do, the order is filled very quickly.The interior is neatly and rustically decorated. Seating can be hard to come by. I usually get my order to go: there are some outdoor tables diagonally opposite the place, at 36th and 9th, overlooking the scenic on-ramp to the Lincoln Tunnel (in good weather, its actually quite pleasant). Or walk a few more blocks to Hudson Yards and the river.

I was looking around Yelp for a legitimate sandwich spot in the area, and Sergimmo Salumeria popped up. This place had some pretty solid reviews, so I figured I might as well check this place out.Sergimmo Salumeria is a straight up Italian spot. If youre looking for something like Subway, then you might as well go to the corner deli instead. Prices here arent cheap either. A sandwich will run you anywhere from $12-15, depending on the sandwich that you get. The spot itself is pretty small, but does have enough seating since most people either get it delivered or to go.The first time I came here, I went with the Massimo il Grande. For $10.50, my sandwich was loaded with grilled chicken, mozzarella, sun dried tomatoes, and Arcadian mix. To top it off, all their sandwiches are sprinkled with balsamic vinegar and olive oil. This sandwich, I must say, was pretty damn good. The chicken did not taste like it just came out of a plastic bag, and everything tasted incredibly fresh. For lunch, this is a perfect portion. Juicy chicken, fresh veggies, and flavorful spices. What more can you ask for?Well, if you want something a little more unique, order the Il VIP. This is a little more expensive, at $14, but this is their specialty sandwich. Inside, youll find: Prosciutto Di Parma, mozzarella, Arcadian mix, EV olive oil and fig spread. Pretty unique mix for a sandwich, and yes, it does taste amazing. If youre looking for a sweeter sandwich, then definitely go with this, because the fig spread gives it that kick. If youre looking for something a little more savory, or with more substance, then Id recommend going with a sandwich with more meat, or even their regular pasta entrees.Say you want to make your own sandwich at home. Well, at Sergimmo Salumeria, you can buy meat by the pound, and even bread. The best part? The also have home made mozzarella. This place fires on all cylinders. The sandwiches are solid, the meats and cheese that they sell taste amazing, and all of that justifies the price that they charge. Lunch on a budget? Go somewhere else. Otherwise, this place is an amazing choice for getting a meal.
Tried the Veneto sandwhich... wow! This was a well portioned sandwhich, made with fresh slices of meat and cheese. I would recommend sharing or saving a half if you dont have a large appetite. The rainbow cookie was also delicious, a nice balance of chocolate, jam and cake.
Get the #1 Proscuitto w fresh mozzarella and fig spread. Its $14 but you wont be disappointed. Pricey but so worth it. I couldve eaten the whole thing but frankly i liked it so much i took the other half home to eat later. This is probably the best deli sandwich ive had in nyc.
I had heard about this place from my colleagues, but never believed it could be real. Delicious italian sandwiches, high quality meat, and fresh cheese all in a little, obscure Italian deli? Oh, its real. I indulged in #15, the Lazio, with Chorizo, provolone, Arcadian mix, olive spread. This sandwich was unlike anything Ive had before. I may even say its the best Ive had in the city. I also ordered an arancini ball, which was so creamy and cheesy. The side of marinara was clearly fresh and homemade.I will be back, again and again. I only wish I had discovered it sooner.
What a #midtownlunch gold mind just blocks from the office. The old world charm of meat hung about and a chalkboard menu are enough to make anyone a believer that this place is for real! The Veneto w/ Soppresetto is off the charts amazing and can be enhanced with Prosciuto and sweet peppers to balance out the hot and tangy. The best sandwich in the lot however is the Massimo il Grande! Trust me its a stand out among gold stars! Everything in here is fresh to a fault. The lines get very long at lunch and even a call ahead order isnt completed until you show up. That can be a bit annoying but I assure you the wait is well worth it. I got a Veneto Panini for lunch; it is $9 but it is HUGE!There was plenty of mozzarella cheese, red peppers and Sopressata. I just finished half of it and I am stuffed!The mozzarella is really fresh and the Sopressata was spicy and flavorful.I want to try all different sandwiches on their menu :)

2022-05-31I had the most delicious sandwich here. The Panini of the Day was chicken with vodka sauce and prosciutto. I hope this restaurant puts this sandwich on the regular menu. I will hope to stop by this place again soon and experience this shop’s amazing food. The prices are very reasonable and the seating area is small but inviting.

2022-04-19Omg!! I love this place. I just popped in for lunch today as we got take out quickly and met the owner - Massimo. He was so kind to tell us about his wonderful store, he’s been there for about 15 years and has done a lot to make sure he did not close thru the pandemic. And man… I’m so glad he didn’t!!!Everything is so beautiful and handmade… and omg… DELICIOUS!! We will definitely be back here in a regular basis when in town. I’m so glad we stopped in today. He has handwritten his menu on the walls and handmade the bread and cannolis… and they were OUT OF THIS WORLD.A must stop in for a reasonably priced and very delicious treat. DEFINITELY GET THR CANOLLI….

2022-04-17Great spot for a light lunch.Just a quick walk from Penn, this Italian sandwich shop is a must try. I had the IL VIP (number 1) and was very satisfied.The sliced prosciutto di Parma, mozzarella, and fresh bread were a great combo but were only made better with the crown jewel of the sandwiche... fig spread! The contrast between the salty of the prosciutto and the sweetness of the fig spread was strong and made the sandwhich have real flavor.With so much on the menu, and such quality ingredients; I know ill be back soon. Thanks for the great food!

2021-08-18I ordered the godfather which comes with three deli meats: sopressata, prosciutto, cappiocolla. the meat was of a very high quality. the flavors were perfectly balanced with the fresh mozzarella, bell peppers, and mixed greens. all of their ingredients are fresh. the only qualm i had was that bread was a little bit stiff/hard to bite through (but i’m no sandwich expert so maybe that’s how it should be?).

2022-08-12The sandwiches are really overpriced for what you get. The bread is dry and the cured meats are normal without being exceptional.The staff is really nice but not the owner, who is quite scary and rough.All in all, this feels more than a tourist trap than a good sandwich restaurant.

2022-06-07Oh man, its been too long since I have been here. But a short walk from Penn Station to incredible paninis. The VIP has excellent prosciutto, delicious mozzarella, and a perfect spritz of fig spread on not too hard/not too soft panini. Simplicity and perfection.

2018-12-07The sandwich was good, but it was missing meat! The chicken was fresh and had enough of it(not the thickest cut) the speck(smoked prosciutto) was too little of it. If they had put more meat in the sandwich I would’ve given it 5stars. The bread was really hard for my taste including the inside part of it. For the price I expect to get more!
