I received awesome service from this restaurant. They attended to me from I stepped through the door up to when I left. They were friendly and courteous not to mention jovial. I will definitely be coming back to eat here soon. The food was good and very affordable, take a visit here you will not be disappointed.
Great people there- a female I think named Hong who served us- very kind- great preparation- Hae mul sundubujigae- Seafood soup- very spicy was great and side dishes/banchon- comes with a seafood pancake called Pajeon- EXCELLENT value for money as most other places, pajeon is not included as a side dish!! Kam sa hap ni da/ thank you to them! :-)
My wife and I have been coming here since they’ve opened. We love the banchan! We pretty much stay consistent with what we order here and they have never disappointed. Great portion sizes, very tasty, friendly staff and fast service. What more could you ask for in dining? We consider this a recommended place for late lunch or even dinner. WE LOVE THEIR GOCHUJANG!!What we usually order:1.Beef spare ribs***2.Beef or pork bulgogi ***3.Seafood ramen, spicy**4.Vegetable dumplings*
Their soondubu was really good and it came with the stone pot rice. I heard the sizzle when I poured the soup into the pot. The service was good and the place was clean. They were very kind and came back to see if we wanted to refill the side dishes. I felt a little rushed at the end. Perhaps we were the last group in the restaurant and they started cleaning up for the closing.
Delicious Korean restaurant. I had concerns because there are not many local Korean restaurants but Im glad someone made this recommendation. I tried both the bibimbap and soondubu stew and both were amazing. I didnt venture into the hot stone with my bibimbap but will definitely on my next visit. Amazing food coupled with great staff led to a wonderful experience!
A great place to eat at. Great service as well. Maybe could be a bit more friendly for people that are new to Korean food. In the beginning you will get small bowls of vegetables after you order which is common. If you get eggs as well they will be for you can crack them into the tofu stew. They are not hard boiled so don’t do it over the table. If you get a hot stone bowl of rice what will usually be done is you take the rice out into a bowl and with the remaining rice you scrap it off and ask for hot water to be put in. If the tofu stew is too hot then you can put some of it at a time into a smaller bowl as it cools quickly. I would recommend the seafood pancake as it is so delicious with the soy sauce. Also for tofu stew the scales of it being spicy is different. Regular spicy is not mild. If you like spice and it your first time here I recommend starting at little spicy first or if you really confident then regular spicy the you can decide if you want a spicier version next time. It really great place. And a really nice place for foods that are healthy.
We came here often for quick lunch when we were going to shop at Hmart. Their lunch menu is good deal, the tofu is out of this world, very very soft! It came with the kimchi, little dishes too. The flavors are ok for quick lunch.Their seafood pancake was quite good too. They used to use sliver looking type of chopsticks like regular Korean restaurants but they changed to disposable type of chopsticks now.
Korean man who works here is super rude. Not sure if he is the owner or what. Came in at a non peak time. Apparently he was the only server working today or something... some tables were empty.... people waiting..... he proceeds to come out and start shooing everyone standing and waiting and whining no table and waving his hands to dismiss us like we are begging for free food. Truly disgusting behavior. I literally come here 3-4x a month too. Not sure about now......
Understaffed and if youre a larger group of 3-4, theyll just make you wait. We had three groups of customers behind us and they were seated, ordered, eating and finishing up while we just sat there for an hour without anyone attending even though we were waving our arms. They just nodded. We had to grab our own menus and the busboy just felt bad. So we left. Shame
I wish they always cook rice on the hot stone bowl instead of simply warming up rice from rice cooker and put it in the stone bowl. whats the extra $3 dollors for otherwise? my family comes here probably twice every month. overall, what they make has not been very consistent since their re-opening this spring from covid restrictions. today wasnt even a busy day or nearing the end of business hour.
This place was the one of the worst tofu soup. And their service is terrible. The manager lookin guy is very rude to the customers. So I decided to not to give tip and he said “no tip? And asked “was the service bad?” and respond “yes” next word that came out of his mouth was “dont ever come back to the restaurant”. I think he should have asked about how to fix the problem not getting mad at us because it’s his problem not us.
First time visit there and their tofu soups taste so awful then I ever taste from other places and I can tell that they did not put any effort to make that soup. Im not usually that picky for tofu soup at all because I really do like tofu so much but this plce make me so mad to put 1 star.on google website, it seems like the popular menus are bibimbap, seafood pankes but does not mention about tofu soup at all even though their restraunts name is specialized as called DUBU(means tofu) SO GONG DONG TOFU.I recommend if you want, try other food like bibimbap but please not TOFU SOUP for this place!!!! you are going to be disappointed!!
Coming from Queens (Bayside/Flushing) and NYC where there are plenty of excellent Korean restaurants, SGD Dubu definitely hits the spot as a strong contender for the top go-to casual Korean restaurant. They offer a limited menu (1 page, back to front) of popular Korean dishes, but what shines is that they do just about each item magnificently. I typically order the Tofu Stew (Soondubu) of varying ingredients with the hot stone rice, along with a nice big seafood pancake (haemul pajeon). Sometimes I stray over to the Galbi. All are cooked to perfection; hot stone rice is sticky and crunchy, seafood pancake is chewy and crispy, and the Galbi is falling-off-the-bone good. Now, over to my favorite part: the banchan (side dishes). They stick with the same set of side dishes, but again they stick with what they’re best at: incredible flavors. I loved every. Single. Banchan. I could get full off of this stuff alone!!The staff are attentive and take care of you, you feel welcomed as a guest. Finally, the price is easier on the wallet compared to a standard Korean BBQ restaurant.Overall, my definite go-to for a casual, affordable Korean restaurant in Westchester. Going back for more!
Amazing Korean Style Tofu Place! How does it have no reviews? Great service and fast process out of the kitchen. Healthy and family friendly. So many styles of BBQ and tofu soup to pick to enjoy! Sorry for forgetting to take pictures as I wanted to go dig in to my food :)
Best restaurant out there. Amazing food and service. Good price for a big amount of food. I always walk out very full and very happy. Always clean and fresh. Already recognized there, waiters make sure they get the right order and are very kind. The rice is amazing along with the ramen. Their soy sauce is the best soy sauce ever, goes amazing with the rice. I would recommend this place to everyone. I would give it 10 stars if I could.
I LOVE this place. My girlfriend took me here for the first time and I was pretty apprehensive at first. I like trying new things but Korean BBQ was pretty foreign to me at the time. The first time I ate here, I was hooked. Ive been eating at SGD on a weekly basis and its just as good as the first time. The place is always very clean, the staff is attentive and courteous, and the prices are fair. I love the tofu stew with beef, the beef bulgogi, the japchae, the kimchi pancake and all the appetizers that come with them! If youre reading this and still debating, STOP DEBATING AND GO!
I usually go between meal times so its relatively quiet and fast service. Food it very good, staff is friendly as well. I really like you can many differently levels of spicy for their tofu. They serve you tea instead of water so if you dont like tea you will have to request a glass of water.
Didn’t realize i went to so many places to eat! I’ll keep it simple here. Pretty much all you get is tofu soup and about 4 other NON TOFU SOUP DISHES. They have rice in a stone bowl which is super delicious (and a tip for the newbies! When you get the stone rice bowl, remove the rice into a normal bowl and then fill up the stone bowl with water or tea and eat at the END of your meal for a super nutritious desert-like bowl). Koreans know how to serve, they’re attentive and right to the point. Great service, very nice people. Bathrooms are clean and space is clean. You will love the food. Always fresh.
Great local restaurant. There arent that many good authentic Asian restaurants up in Westchester. Really have to dig through to find the good restaurants. This is a good family friendly place that is affordable to grab a meal during the middle of week. The service is really nice. Food is out pretty fast.
Good variety, include vegetarian style. Itd be better if it were kosher and it they can differentiate vegetarian and vegan. A lot of people think its the same. They are in the food service, They should know. Easy free parking. The waiters were very patient and gave good suggestions. Very good service!
The food is very good, but the stuff is randomly cheap about giving Korean pickles with the pickup orders. No matter how many times we ask, we either get a couple of boxes of, literally, cucumber pickles, or two boxes of random pickles. In the restaurant, you get five or six types. To stiff customers of pickles when we pay $30-40 for a dinner just seems really petty.
Cheerful place with helpful servers even through the language difficulties. I believe the food is authentic since we were almost the only Caucasian people in the place. I cant say I really liked the tofu stew which I had with seafood as there wasnt enough seafood and way too much tofu. On the plus side the prices are more than reasonable so it was unrealistic to expect a lot of expensive seafood in that stew. The Bibimpap looked better and the short ribs looked quite good at the next table! :-)
I would give it zero if I could. We were frequent to this restaraunt because it is near H-Mart we do some grocery shopping. We have two young kids so would like to keep the shopping trip one-stop. We also treated some family and friends there from time to time. The staff usually were very friendly and accomodating. We went to this place today with four adults and two kids in the group. And I believe this time the owner of the restaraunt met us at reception. And she insisted us on squeezing into a 4-person booth despite that there was a 8-person table free and no one was waiting. That is not the way kids should be treated, and they deserve better. So we walked away and will never go back. To families with young kids, think again before you go to this place.
Overall the food was great - but I don’t know if any Korean testy that don’t serve alcohol / especially those days!! The service was ok / they definitely need to hire more staff as we waited a long time every time we needed something. Food menu is quite limited but the quality and flavors are great

2022-04-19What an amazing place. The food here is just full of quality and flavor. Most of the plates come out sizzling and immaculately prepared. My bulgogi was probably the best I’ve ever tasted. Even the pre meal servings of pickled vegetables was fresh and exiting. The place isn’t too big so I’ve heard that it gets packed at dinner, so go when there is space during the off peak hours.

2021-09-04This is my absolute favorite restaurant for delicious Korean foods! I now live over an hour away so I sadly dont get to eat here much. Thankfully the other day I was about 30 minutes away so I had to make the drive to get some Bulgogi and beef Bibimbap dinners. So much food, all the vegetables tasted so fresh and absolutely delicious. There are a few other Korean restaurants in close proximity of eachother but I can tell ya you wont be disappointed going here. I never am!

2021-10-31This was the most delicious place it had been a while since I have been here and this place didn’t disappoint. The wait was 20 minutes or a bit less but every bite was so amazing. I am a vegetarian and was with meat eaters and this place had the perfect stew and stone bowl bibimbap for me which had a layer of carmelized crisped rice and the stew was the most delicious I can’t even.

2021-06-16This place has really good Korean food. Very impressed! Had Korean food all my life and to find this gem in Hartford is pretty amazing. One note for those who like spicy. Don’t get regular spicy because it’s not spicy. Go one level up.Really great service! Friendly staff! Delicious food!!! Thank you. Will be back again!!!

2021-06-08The food was tasty and fresh, the décor was nice, the whole place seemed very clean, and the staff were courteous. I was surprised at how much food was included in the meal. There is plenty of parking out front and if you happen to have an electric car you can plug it in nearby (across from the Mexican restaurant) and let it charge while you eat!

2022-02-22Love the food here. My sister, wife, and 4 year old love it here too. Everyone is friendly. Goes well and beyond to make sure you have a great time. We all get different dishes so we can share. I had the beef, my sister the pork and my rib and son both got the ribs. Amazing. The side dishes are always ready abs fresh. After having a bad dinner at Fogo De Chao in white plains I came here for lunch at it was amazing.
