Lovely neighborhood bar serving crepes, sandwiches, beer, wine, liquor, and splendid cocktails. The bartenders know their way around a drink.

Awesome and cute place. The bar is cozy inside but the space is fairly small. When it is not crowded, this place is a gem. They offer a wide variety of drinks from beers to cocktails. They also make delicious crepes which matches well with the drinks and the entire mood of the space. Would be a great place for couples. The lady that works there is very friendly and makes you feel at home.
Actually it’s 3.5 for the food, but +0.5 for the coziness of the outdoor dining.
Yummy drinks. Cozy and welcoming atmosphere. Delicious gluten free crepes. Ariana was the most welcoming and knowledgeable bar tender who kept us there way longer than intended due to her super awesome personality!
Ive been going to Shade for years. Fantastic cocktails, especially the cappuccino martini, which I order every time. The crepes are large and yummy. The service is fantastic, especially when Laurie is around! I cant believe Ive never rated this place before, but between the drinks, food, service, music, and overall atmosphere, it gets 5 stars from me!
Come for the delicious crepes that always hit the spot, and stay for a few drinks! Its not the biggest venue, but the atmosphere is always lively and fun, and its busy without feeling overwhelming. The bartenders and waitress are great, this is a good place to start or end your night.
Shade is a cozy, dark bar that offers cocktails, a decent wine selection, and crepes. It was pretty crowded for a Wednesday evening, but the service was fast and friendly. I just had a cocktail, but I sampled my friends smoked salmon crepe, and it was delicious. Cute spot to meet up with friends. Though it was crowded, I had no problem talking and holding a conversation as it was not too loud.
Excellent wine bar. Its small and cozy but seems to be empty enough for a fun, uncrowded happy hour. Their menu of crepes - dinner and dessert - is also a sweet and savory complement to your drinks. Its smack dab in NYU but is one of the few bars near Washington Square Park that doesnt come off as a generic, frat row drinking hole.
The BEST crepes. We just happened to be walking past and glanced at the sign. So glad we stopped. My favorite is just egg and cheese but they offer such a wide variety of toppings. A freshly made snack on the go!
Right next to Washington Sq Park, this place is absolutely one of my favorites to sit down and have a drink... Maybe a crepe too since its delicious! They have a window for crepe only orders, but come on in and sit inside! The bartenders are awesome and though its small, its a nice sit back and relax with some good food, drinks, and friends.
Delicious crapes, awesome drinks. Sometimes it is so popular it is hard to get a table but once you do Id say it is worth the wait. Lovely selection of wines as well.The area is pretty fun, not to far from NYU so plenty of other places to visit before or after Shade.

Chill place, candlelight and worn wood vibe with upbeat music. Good drink specials, quick and friendly. They make a good Moscow mule and have an EXTENSIVE crepe selection and a good sandwich list, also very well priced (especially for the neighborhood), Ill definitely be back to try the food, I loved my visit here.
I know that its a bar, but I had an iced americano and cup of espresso. I loved the environment with the open windows to the street. It gave a sense of al fresco dining without having to be exposed to the elements.Our server was patient and attentive. She constantly checked on our needs without rushing us to order more. Overall, five stars.
I had a nutella, strawberry, and whipped creme crepe and it was phenomenal! The whipped creme was unsweetened, which balanced out the sweetness of the nutella and strawberries perfectly.
Cozy bar for wine and crepes. At night it has a low key candle lit wibe, with wooden tables, lush curtains, and large windows. Laurie the awesome punk rock bartender pours strong drinks and there are always interesting characters inside. My preference is this bar in the spring and summer, as it isnt very well insulated and can get cold.
Unmasked, drunk patrons standing outside the outdoor COVID dining area, spitting while they talk as people passed by. Reported it to bartender, who rudely said they were doing nothing wrong. Website does say mask required. Dont go here.
Ive never been inside of the bar but there is a great crepe stand on the left side of the restaurant. $7 crepes with three free fillings. Not to mention its a great to-go option right by Washington square park. Cant beat a lunch deal like that!

Theres a window on the side of the bar marked shade to go where you can order a crepe (cash only). The crepes are fantastic.Edit: no longer cash only.
I had a hankering for crepes and this hit the spot. Cool, dark vibe inside or grab and go from the window on the sidewalk. Their espresso and cappuccino martinis were terrific as well.

Cocktails are nice and so is the ambience.. Music is average but the waitress is way too spooky and cunning.. I noticed her doing something unusual not just once but twice.. I was unable to confront!The first time I noticed she took a sip from my drink (grapefruit martini) before serving and so after a while I repeated the drink and whoa! She tried to do it again but then gave me a side look and saw that I was observing! Ofcourse she did not have a sip off my second drink but seriously is that what I am paying for??? BEWARE!

While maybe slightly overpriced, the crepes and drinks are really amazing. Ive never been disappointed. The college crowd can be a bit annoying, but thats not Shades fault.
Who would of knew that crêpes are more than just a dessert pastry? They provide a build-your-own-crêpe. I had a crêpe with salmon, mushrooms, and gorgonzola - it tasted amazing.
The first two times I went, the female bartenders were really nice. The third time I went, the bartender was a man who was rude and made me feel uncomfortable for asking for anything from him.

Cool place - was there by myself - had a great night - the bar ladies treated me wonderfully - I had a couple too many in the end but they helped me to get my UBER and I got home safely ... as a woman in her 50s I really appreciated that ... being a tourist made it even more special for me ... the cocktails were superb and the crepes were yummy too ... please put yourself on Tripadvisor ... you deserve it!!!

2022-07-12Really good ambience. Very cosy place, friendly bartender and good crepes.Got the banana, strawberry, chocolate and whipped cream crepe. The chocolate wasnt great, but the cream balanced out the flavours nicely.

2022-08-12Worst place because of the very RUDE employee. Simple, I was eating an ice cream and my friend just wanted to stop and have a beer on the OUTSIDE table, I did not sit since my ice cream was melting and asked the gentleman for some napkins, he only said, you cannot sit here or be here with outside food or drinks. I was not sitting, I was not even inside the establishment, I was on the streets sidewalk and my friend had just ordered a beer and payed for it. DONT BE RUDE TO PAYING CUSTOMERS. The streets does not belong to the establishment and I was NOT siting in your table.

2019-03-17My partner and I came here for a date and our waitress Lindsay was very friendly and had a lovely personality that made our night. Ive had the best long island ever by the bartender Lori who been doing it for 20 years. The atmosphere is very cozy and they open up all the windows so the fresh air makes it so much more enjoyable. The sandwiches were great here also. I would recommend this spot for the drinks for sure. The staff makes this place so much better we enjoyed our night out.
