I have been a customer since 2008, and I absolutely love this place. Wendy and Devon are wonderful, and truly enjoy the work that they provide to their patrons, the four legged, furry kind. My animals love the treatment they receive and I do too. Thoughtful, amazing, professional and heartfelt! Best grooming experience in the local area.
I absolutely love this place! I have boarded my dogs here 3 times now. They are always well looked after and she gave me updates on how my dogs did throughout the week during play time and so forth. The pickup hours are very flexible. This woman really care about animals all around. This past time, she even took the time to have me come back out to the shop with my shephard mix to work on his social skills on a leash and around other dogs and people. She did this not expecting anything in return, but simply because she cared about making my experience with my pet a better and more enjoyable one and knew the potential he had to be a better dog in new situations. I will never use anyone else to board my pets and I would/will recommend her to everyone I know who owns pets in the area. Definitely use this facility!!!
Weve boarded our husky 4 other places and never had issues. They either werent in a convenient location , stopped kenneling or charged a lot more. Our dog always seemed to act weird coming home from here, she always soiled herself there. Not sure if they didnt go out enough. Last time she came home with black burnt paws. Wouldnt get out of her bed for anything. She was brought there with some meds to help with her anxiety. They said they didnt give her any when picking her up, but when calling back to see why she was acting strange they said they gave her some. Lady is very unprofessional. Always charged us more than posted prices but we can get over that easy. Our animals will never go back again.
I am only giving this horrible excuse for a dog lodge two stars because the owner was a nice lady. Now, time to get to the negatives. I left my dog and cat with the Shaggy Dog Lodge. when i picked them up she had told me that my cat was a very sweet cat. Then she told me that the dog was mean and that she could tell he wasnt house trained. First of all my dog is not mean at all, next he is a puppy and he does make mistakes from time to time, but for the most part he knows to go outside. When i saw my dog and cat they smelled horrible. My dog was definitely living in his own feces. My car was not brushed at all the whole time he was there, which i think for over 250 bucks should have happen. When we got home i dumped so food for the dog and gave him water, he almost took my hand off try to get to his food and drink. they obviously must have went on vacation also. I will never take my pets there again. they are better of with a self feeder in the garage.
I boarded my dog for July 4th weekend. When I arrived to drop my dog off, she had four dogs in her lobby in crates, she apparently overbooked. I did make sure my dog had his own run. When I called to check on him, she couldnt remember my dog at first, then proceed to tell me, he had been a problem and was using the restroom in his run. Funny thing he doesnt have this problem at home, he is fully potty trained. As a business owner she should of assured me that my dog was doing fine not talk bad about the dog the entire conversation. I had a friend of mine pick up my dog due to my flight not getting back until later. (By the way, you can only pick up on Sundays from 9-10 which I find very inconvenient) Anyway, when my friend went to pick up my dog the owner couldnt recall which dog was mine and then she claimed I did not prepay, which I clearly did. Being that she is a small business owner, I would think she would get to know her clients on a personal level. I will not being taking my dog back.
NEVER AGAIN. Brought my German Shepard there. She wasnt even let out. They were too scared. They didnt even use anything I left for her... Such as dog containers, toys. Was she even left to go to the bathroom outside??? Ugh I would rather pay $50 to people instead of $18 to them. Will be going elsewhere. Heres a tip, dont be a dog boarding and grooming place if you CANT handle animals not just little dogs. Keep in mind my dog is only 66 pounds...
I really dislike writing bad reviews BUT, in this case, I felt that it was irresponsible not to write a review. My dog recently came home from The Shaggy Dog thinner than I left him, acting extremely thirsty, and caked with pee and poop up to his chest.I have had my 12 pound, long haired dog for 11 years and have lived several places with him. Because of this, he has been boarded in several kennels. I have never had a problem with him not eating anything or drinking while we were away or acting unkindly toward his caregivers. We have had some reports of toileting in the kennel while we are away and once he got an eye infection unrelated to his stay. Our normal kennel was booked and we needed to be away so I searched on google for kennels. After reading the good review and speaking to the women who runs it, I decided to take my dog to the Shaggy Dog.I gave her my cell number and asked her to call if anything at all was wrong. I received no call. Eight days later when I came to pick him up, I learned that he had “pottied” on his blanket the first day and so she had taken away both his bed and his blanket for the remainder of the time. I learned that though he had not snapped or acted aggressively in any way, he “looked like he might.” Because of this he was not given any attention or cleaned in any way. She said nothing about him refusing food or water although, she had discontinued his glucosamine treats that aide his aging joints without consulting me because they were made in China. I wanted to ask her what was worse, a treat made in China or letting a dog sit in his own excrement for eight days but, I refrained. When he saw me he danced and cried to leave instead of his usual aloof “you left me” behavior. He reeked of stale poop and pea and looked terribly thin. When he got into the car he whined and cried for at least five minutes. It took three washes to get all of the caking out of his fur and paws. Along with looking terribly thin and eating everything in sight, he begged for and drank bowls full of water at a time. At first change he drank two full bowls of water practically without coming up for air. He acted submissively for days with his head down and licking our hands with gratitude for the smallest pat or kindness. We will certainly never use these services again!

2020-08-13Our Golden Doodle needed some basic puppy training. Thank goodness Wendy started working with him when he was just 12 weeks old because now at 7 months he weighs in at 65 lbs. She is an amazing trainer. She answers questions between training sessions, will text back and forth and never hesitates to give us homework :) She has worked with our pup at her property and in our home which was a brilliant idea. She is so observant and corrected some bad behavior that we didnt even notice him doing. I highly recommend this business for training and grooming. Wendy is a true animal whisper. Im so happy we found her.

2018-03-21I LOVE taking my dogs here to get groomed... this place is located on a cute farm, it is clean and there are products you can purchase inside of the shop. The owner and her son are amazing people. They always have openings and work with your schedule. Whenever I bring my dogs here they end up looking so great after, and they know how to handle animals here, super friendly and you can’t beat the prices! My dog has also stayed here for 5 days while my husband and I went to Florida, he was well taken care of and the price was reasonable! You can tell these people know what they’re doing!

2021-06-10These guys really saved my @$$. My apartment building was doing some preventative pest control so I couldnt have my cats in my apartment, and I called this place up and they were so nice and I found out that they do pet boarding, and not just dogs. Great price, too. Its great to know if something happens I know a good place to keep my cats.

2020-12-24The staff at Shaggy Dog care greatly for animals, and it shows! We’ve been taking our pup to Shaggy Dog for boarding and grooming for 2 years. The experience is always positive, and our girl comes home looking great and smelling fresh!
