This is one of the classiest salons Ive ever experienced! They offer a warm greeting upon entering, dedicated attention and conversation around your cut and/or style, a complimentary green tea or beverage, and smooth communication during the cut. I especially loved the care and thoughtfulness from Fumika. She took the time to hear what I wanted (to fix a terrible previous haircut from another salon - ugh) and offered suggestions. She was kind, considerate, and incredibly skilled! Will definitely book her for all my future salon visits!! Also this place is super clean and classy! An checking out is a breeze!

Yasuko has been cutting my hair for over a decade. I literally don’t trust anyone else. Every friend I’ve recommended to her has loved using her as well. She’s very good at listening to you and what you need. And she gives you honest input on what would flatter your face and still be stylish. She’s very skilled and creative yet practical and attentive. Shair, itself, has a super laid back but warm ambiance. Their whole aesthetic is cool and everyone who works there is too.
Best salon ever! Friendly, cozy and relaxing atmosphere. They use the best products and I always get the color I exactly ask for (my hair stylist is Kouya and I love how precise he is in listening to what I want. He is professional and so nice at the same time). Also, the location of the salon is in one of the best areas of Nyc. Highly recommended!
Friendly stylists with exceptional skills. Ive gotten my hair cut by Yuya and Nana, and theyve done a great job. I always come out of their with shiny, bouncy hair. The price is very reasonable for the quality and service.
I got a tons of compliments after superb haircut and painting color from Dr KOYA! Not to mention his hospitality, application of his haircut associated that he devoted himself to his professional study . I could feel that he is trying to achieve in his industry for the future. If somebody got tired to maintain your style , might as well go his place!
I highly recommend KOYA!!! Hes the best hair stylist Ive ever met in NYC!!! When I tell him what kind of hair syle or color I want, he always knows exactly what Im saying and does much better that I expected!! Everytime after visiting him I feelmore confident and ALL of my friends tell me they cant wait to let KOYA do their hair to make them better!! Also, hes very patient and professional!! Now he knows what style fits me, and he often recommends me trendy styles or colors. Every time its so amazing and fantastic!! Shair is the best hair dresser in NYC. I received an excellent haircut here. Very conveniently located on 6th Ave and Houston. The salon has Japanese staff who are very attentive and offer high quality service at a decent price. I was a walk in and they were not too busy in the early afternoon, though I called 5 minutes before arrival to check.

Suki my hairstylist understood everything I needed. I barely had to speak and she saw the problem with my prior haircut and gave me something I absolutely loved and could recreate at home
Great service and attention to care! I tried this place for the first time after the lockdown ended and was impressed by their safety protocols, which really demonstrated they are taking our health seriously.
Go for Kaz. but dont really because I want him to myself. Best haircuts - slightly out of the way location but Im cool with that - super friendly staff.

2022-08-05Megumi has been taking care of my hair styling for over 6 years. She is the best in what she does. She genuinely cares and provides best service, friendly and professional. I would recommend her to anyone who needs good quality service with friendly care and best advice. Ever since she started with SHAIR, I notice that the salon has good welcoming energy as well, which helps.

2022-07-26I had a haircut with koya teshima a month ago. He wasn’t patient enough trimming my hair since I have really thick hair but don’t want shorten my hair too much. He’s more like a one-time stylist spending more than half of the time blowing the hair and keep asking if I have an occasion or date that night. But all I wanted was a proper haircut. I had a feeling that he does not know what he’s doing there.Until recently, I really feel my hair is too thick for the summer and I went to another hair cut in town, where they found there are a few hair stuck out very long on the back. That was really funny to see.And I have to share my experience here after seeing such unprofessional haircut.It doesn’t worth the time and time.

2022-06-04The services were extraordinary, however, I had very unpleasant experiences because the other customer kept talking bad about my home country with his/her stylist.I did not intend to overhear others conversation, but it is a quiet and open area, and there were only two of us as customers. Everyone can hear everyone. I endured for a while until I could not stand anymore. I asked my hair dresser to notify them their conversation has made me really uncomfortable, and they stopped.Two improvements I suggest:1. Stylists should take an active role in being non-judgmental when they are on duty at least, I can not imagine to work with someone I know that has talked bad behind me.2. Stylist should also be awared of the inappropriate conversations in the salon. As a customer, I do not want to cause a scene until I cannot endure. But the nuisance remained in my head the whole day.

2018-10-16Awesome service, great, talented hairstylists. This is one the very few places that could be certainly rated 5 stars for the quality of the service. I consulted them for hair color and I already had a dark permanent shade in my hair and they were very HONEST ( rare find!) about the possibility of my hair not being able to get any other color on. they even test tried other colors on my hair and confirmed it cant be done. I believe that was very nice of them to have told me the truth ahead of time. I also got myself a hair cut and it was just plain awesome, I have received so many compliments!!! Have found a great place after a very longtime! Strongly recommend this place.

2021-10-03I booked an appointment day of with Hiromi. I hadnt had a haircut in three years, and I communicated that to Hiromi. Ive been cutting my hair for said three years (Hello, Pandemic), and also cutting my bangs for far longer. Because I am very particular with my bangs, the bangs took up the majority of the hair cut. To her credit and patience, Hiromi very kindly listened to exactly how I wanted them, and even allowed me to direct her in a few snips to get the desired shape I like in the corner of them. I really appreciated Hiromis skill, talent, patience, and kindness. We had a lovely conversation, and she gave me everything I asked for. Its nice to be wearing a healthy head of hair again. 2021-06-18I love this salon and recommend my friends all the time. My partner and I regularly get our hair cut by Koya, where we’d get some recommendations of how to style our hair while keeping in mind how much effort we want to put into maintenance. A stop by here is perfect for getting out of the hibernation that is COVID quarantining this past year.

2020-08-25I came in after growing my hair out for 2.5 years. I wanted to get it all cut off. I had an appointment with Koya. Koya is iconic. He is incredibly talented. After a discussion of what I was looking for, he got to work. Watching him cut my hair was like watching a sculptor turn a slab of marble into a work of art. He was also very chatty and friendly and told me about his life in Japan and how he moved to NYC. After about 20 minutes, Koya said to me I can see the final result now. He was in the zone. I am so incredibly happy with my haircut and my experience with Koya. I will definitely come back.
