Shake Shack in other cities:
Burgers are good but the fries can be cold. Strikes me as odd this particular location never thinks to power wash the sidewalk right outside. It smells. I would think a food place would want cleanliness associated with it, not fetid odors. Thus should be a daily thing.
Had to try the famous Shake Shack (dont have them in Finland) and was left with mixed feelings. Shack Burger was ok but I did expect a more wow this IS better than xyz kind of an experience. Also, it is always a bit annoying to wait for staff chatting between themselves and ignoring the customers. Not for ages but minutes do count in the fast-food business. The whole point to get a quick burger is to get the burger.... quick.
Love the Shake Shack burgers. But at my visit at this venue I was very dissappointed. I wanted manual service since I was carrying my 1 year old child. Had to wait for a long time before getting a cashier. No waiting line, I was just standing there waiting for someone to take my order. In the meantime the manager was actually quite rude to me.
Im from New Zealand and had this place recommended by a friend. Visited here back at the start of April while there were still many covid restrictions. Came with a group of friends and they were able to get us a table downstairs all to ourselves. Food got to us fast and tasted so gooood. Loved the burgers and the shakes. The service was amazing right from the beginning, I honestly felt like we were royalty or something. Each one of the staff I interacted with were so nice and friendly. My friends agreed too after we left. They went above and beyond to make our experience at Shake Shack the best.
If your looking for a kind of in-between burger, not your typical fast food burger but also not a $25 giganto burger, shake shack is the perfect happy median. I personally go for the double cheeseburger with the diced cherry peppers & their dynamite shack sauce. They offer decent fries (the crinkle cut ones) which I always opt for a side of cheese with. It might sound silly since its just cheese dipping sauce, but shake shacks is excellent! Lastly, it is called shake shack so at the very least you can just grab a delicious chocolate shake (cuz lets be honest chocolate shakes are the best) if your not really that hungry.
Too crowded. Unable to manage crowds. Kitchen cant keep up with demand. Hard to get a seat. Overheated on a hot day. Air conditioning, if any, us inadequate. Way too noisy. Service mediocre. Food overpriced. Absolutely unenjoyable. Hamburgers taste good. Avoid the crowd and a decent experience is possible.
Super crowded as you can expect. Is almost impossible to find a place to seat cause place is super small so pretty much everyone has to eat standing up.I know these burgers are super famous but... to be honest taste is normal. I’ve tried better burgers in so many different places. So I honestly don’t know why they’re so famous.I mean they’re not bad but nothing to get crazy about either.Shakes are good. I’d recommend eating somewhere else just because is not the best burger place, not the cheapest one and definitely is too crowded, so don’t expect an unforgettable experience.
A bit long wait time, but overall a good fast food restaurant with signature american burgers and shakes! Either take out or dine is is available. You can pre-order and pick up, or go contactless inside the shop via 3 available terminals.Staff was allright, a bit impatient / tired when shouting out my name when my order was ready.
Excellent burgers! Our group of 7 all loved the burgers - the burgers are a bit small so if you are a big eater, considering adding other food, or even another burger. This location is small but very busy, so seating is very limited. The staff were excellent - helpful and cheerful.
DO NOT ORDER HERE. THEY DONT CARE ABOUT THEIR MOBILE ORDERS. Ordered uber eats at 11.30am latest delivery was supposed to be 12.50pm and they delayed my delivery so much it was going to arrive at 3.20pm I missed my lunch break because they are negligent! Wish I could give negative stars. Will not order again. It was a $50 order too!
Great fast food burgers. Its for the experience mostly but the taste is fine as well.I tried different types of burgers here, even the chicken sandwich. I would recommend it if you do not eat pork, but Im from the south that has CHICK FIL A everywhere so my standard for chicken sandwich is high. The milkshakes are rich in flavor. The line is long but the wait isnt.Just dont expect to have open seats! Eat the food at the park or somewhere else!
Hands down this is the best hamburger in town. Yes, you’ll have to wait in line. And yes you’ll have to wait for a table (there are also tables downstairs). But the place is welcoming and their food and shakes are delicious. You can also download their app to avoid waiting in line to give your order.
This place is super busy... but must mean it’s pretty good!I ordered a Smoke Shack which is a Dirty, Fat & Juicy Cheese burger 🍔 with Bacon 🥓, teamed up with tasty & crunchy crinkle cut fries 🍟- the perfect recipe for a heart attack 😝 but it tasted soooo good hahahahaFriendly & reasonably quick service,
Good stuff , in & out despite the line being up to the door . So I had the double cheese burger with onions tomato & pickles. great tasting fresh & juicy burger with a soft bun . The fries were ok not much taste, but nothing a tub of ketchup couldnt fix . Plenty of seating just get there early the lines can get pretty long.
Fantastic spot for a great burger! I recommend the double SmokeShack! It has just the right amount of spice. The flavour in these burgers are amazing. The place was packed as it was lunchtime, however service was extremely quick and polite. Like with any NYC spot, be patient and assertive if you want to get your hands on a table.
At first i was hesitant to try tgis burger chain thinking its one of those burger chains. My oh my. They have the best burger i have ever tasted. I ordered the shake stack! The crisp fried portebello mushroom filled with melted muenster and cheddar cheese is to die for
I was a super fan of shake shack from the beginning. But our experience today killed the love for me. Bathroom was out of order, there was no protocol for clearing dirty tables. And the worst thing of all, the burger was bad. Nothing to do with the shake shack of 10 years ago. It was poorly cooked, poorly balanced, they were supposed to give me grilled onions but the onions were raw. They didnt label things properly. The general energy and happiness of the crew was significantly lower than I have seen it in past years. I dont think the pandemic can be blamed for this one. Somebody in mgmt needs to get back to basics. Or maybe shake shack is no longer the fantastic upstart that it used to be. Maybe it is time for a new disrupter.
Food is average and no napkins, when requested the woman at the door was like Oh, Im sorry, we dont have any, thats why there arent there... She only missed the dummy, so condescending! Later I overheard her complaining abot people asking for napkins...What kind of restaurant doesnt have napkins?
Great food as always, only problem is a severe lack of seating. Came here on a Sunday afternoon and still had to stand for 20 minutes waiting for a couple to stop talking, throw their trash into the bin and leave so others could sit as they eat.At a busy location such as this, being situated near the AMNH and west Central Park, there should be more than 3 booths and 4 tables for two.
Disappointing ! Visited the Shake Shack on Colombus Ave during the Xmas holidays. +30 min waiting time and above all a really small and flat burger. So disappointing. Fries were not cooked properly and they were really not tasty. Nuggets were ok but nothing more. To be honest the prices are too high regarding the products you get. Maybe it was a bad and busy day that day but at this time we thought that a Big Mac meal would have been so much better and so cheaper... Will not return to this one.
Great Shake Shack to stop into before or after your American Museum of Natural History visits! The line usually isnt too bad and people generally dont loiter around and hog the tables for too long.Service is always prompt and friendly. They also take orders through the electronic kiosks and traditional register.
I picked up my order and no one checked for my order confirmation. My friends order was taken and the manager refused to refund it because he claimed someone with her order confirmation picked it up. He tried to convince us that this was standard practice, even though she did not receive the food she paid for and was not offered a refund. The manager was rude, belligerent, and accusatory. Shake shack is one of my favorite restaurants so I was surprised to be treated so poorly.
This wasnt the first time I walked into a shake shack, but the first time in NYC! I decided order a thing which hadnt had it before! Shroom burger something like that!!! Im not sure of the name of this buger, but Im one hundred percent sure that it is made with mushroom. Its so tasty!!!! The fries is always good!
First time trying this place out...and definitely worth the hype. The burgers were one of the best I have ever had. Very juicy. Pictured below is the single, and I had the double. Even the bun quality was top notch.Service is quick. Prices are spot on and affordable given the area. Want to to come back already before I had back home to Toronto.
Long line was no worry. It was quicker than we thought till burgers and bacon cheese fries were made for us two. But, whats harder was to find a table inside the shop. For our next visits (in sunny day) - my best bet is order to-go, then find a bench outside nearby or in the central park.
Same awesome menu as their other locations. Although this places seemed particularly crowded just times I visited.I tried the burger with the deep fried mushroom for the first time and total fell in love! It was absolutely stuffed with cheese that was perfectly melted. The panko breading was crispy - a great balance to the gooey inside. I think that next time I would add bacon, simply because I can.Theres a restroom and additional seating downstairs. But because there are only two single restrooms, I line is likely to form and run up the skinny set of stairs.Dont forget to check out their special concrete or milkshake because different locations offer different flavors. When I visited, only this location was offering a concrete in honor of the current Shakespeare in the Park Play that was only available for that month. So fun!I would also recommend the Bacon Cheese Fries!
I must say the General Manager smoothed things over with me and I am glad!!!!! Thats why I give them 5 stars. Pleasing customers and listening attentively is key. This location was spot on. I ordered a double stack with cheese for myself and a single for my son along with a Vanilla milkshake and french fries. My food was delicious until I reached the halfway mark with my burger and disvovered red meat after ordering a well done burger. I specifically asked the cashier to burn it if need be. LoL!!!! So i threw it away after taking a pic of course. But i went up to the counter to let one of the Staff know about disatisfaction and while I had one foot out the door and my hand pushing the door, the Manager asked me to come back inside to talk to him about my experience and utterly apologized. He offered to make me knew food to go and I declined. Then he asked me to hang on a bit. And he returned with coupons more like vouchers for a next visit at any location.
The food was just average, but the atmosphere was super cool. Its right across from one of the most famous museums in the world, so I knew right off the bat it was going to be super busy, which it was. The place is really tiny, but I found a place to sit in their basement seating space. They have a basement, just like the Alamo (ha, ha).
First time going to a Shake Shack, and it didnt disappoint! Prices are a little high compared to other burger places, but it is definitely worth a visit.Highly recommend going if you havent before. This location was a little hectic, and seats were difficult to find, but thats what happens when going during peak hours.
The food is shake shake standard. Everything we all love about them. The location itself is cramped. There is a big sign on the door saying masks required regardless of vax status. AND there are a bunch of people packed tightly together waiting for food with half not wearing masks. Zero enforcement. It all serves to make me uncomfortable and weary of returning.
I was very disappointed that they took the Concretes off the menu. Apparently they made cuts due to the higher takeout and delivery with the pandemic. Nonetheless, our order took forever, about 30 minutes for 6 simple items. The greeter was very nice and made sure we got our free fries for being vaccinated. And she brought our food to the table which was nice, too. I had a malted shake with whipped cream which was very good. And lemonade which was okay. My wife had a burger with free fries. The fries were good. The burger just okay.
Take my rating with a grain of salt as i give it a 4 for its general accomplishment. Ashame shack is able to kill your hunger at a reasonable price, quickly and touch multiple cravings. The place has beer, chicken, meat, dairy, but all in all its just another fast food place that doesnt impress. Best thing going for them are the shakes but again not much to judge. Come here for a quick small bite.
Ill cut to the chase: Everythings good here. If youre out of town, it feels a bit pricey for fast casual fast food, but if youre living in NYC, it feels like a bargain. Overall, it never disappoints, the staffs always been helpful, and theres usually some seasonal/new items that make it exciting to drop by from time to time.
I went to this place a couple of months ago and it was very good, but today it was a very bad experience, I’m talking about the burgers, the quality of meats, I don’t know probably this time the cook let them burn a bit, or probably was my non getting my promotion-mood.
Well worth the money. I personally recommend the burger over their hot dogs, but it is nothing like cheap deli burgers or McDonalds. Their secret sauce is delicious (I would compare it to a horseradish chipotle mayo), the burgers are juicy, and the food is always well done. If you have a chance you should always stop by
Very clean place with clean food. Im not a huge fan of smashed griddle burgers like at shake shack, steak n shake, etc, but the cleanliness of the food here was outstanding. The staff is very kind and the memories of eating here when I visited nyc for the first time will linger in my heart forever.
Really was not a fan of this location. The person who greeted us was very loud and basically was shouting at my daughter who was asleep. My daughters grilled cheese was barely cooked. It was just bread and cheese slices. It took forever for another to be remade, which is crazy because its grilled cheese. By the time she got her food, ours was basically room temp from waiting.
Ordered for pick up and someone else took my order. The manager informed me he would not refund or replace my order in full and I had to pay again and reorder if I wanted my food. The manager claimed that someone with my confirmation picked up the order even though they were not checking order confirmations.
My boyfriend and I were walking around Central Park and thought wed tried something from everything around us. Haha. Shake shack was one of them. I got the salted caramel shake and he had the strawberry! Very good! It was nice sipping on a shake while walking around and sight seeing.
Food takes to long, the customer service on three separate visits been below par, and I didnt enjoy the food. If your in need its behind the museum its an attraction for food. Be prepared for a wait but your food will arrive. Ill try the online next time and see how that goes.
Love this burger!Edit: 3 years later and leaving another review:As a regular customer, I sat this location has been still great! I visit in the evenings most of the time because I find the weekend crowds during the daytime overwhelming. Time of day, weather conditions, holiday, etc. really do contribute to factors of how busy this location will be.I went on a Friday after Thanksgiving recently. Put my mobile order in on my way from 69th St., and within a reasonable amount of minutes, my order was ready! Walked in, and the friendly staff made the pickup order so easy!
I think the burgers in the fries is great in this place and I loved it is really close to my job I just discovered that it was a really nearby so that made me really happy and always enjoyed the Burger saw the dont really have anything negative to say about shake shack I just wish that there was more of them so I can have a lot more shake shack
The food was good. The burgers were juicy and at a very good high temperature so that suggests that beef was freshly cooked. The fries the cheese on them were also piping hot Customer service was good food was promptly served My only suggestion to them is wish they have some nice bread buns to put the burger in Buns are not what is expected of high end chain like shake Shack but maybe its the tradition but in my view buns need to be better and not like Wonder bread buns.
They made my family and I for about 45 mins waiting on the msg from them to pick up our mealTired of wait I went in front to ask for my meal and it was there since ...who knows how longObviously it was so cold45 dollars spending in a cold meal what a great experience 😂Never again shake shack low quality service and hamburgers are so simples
Place is a joke. 2pm on Thursday, came across for lunch from the museum. First, I couldnt order fries from the kiosk. When I ask why I told that they ran out.. Then, as I was completing my order another issue popped up on the screen that the staff couldnt resolve. I asked if I could order with a person and was told yes and that magically they apparently found fries again. So I place my whole order, including fries and when the guy repeats it back to me he tells me sorry we are out of shakes. I inquire that I am indeed in Shake Shack and when thats confirmed I just decide to leave.
1. I did not eat this burger in Korea, but it is really tasty. Especially bread is soft so, its totally different other restaurant. Same as Korea recipe?2. Too crowed, It is very difficult to sit.3. Price for me.. its not reasonable. Little bit expensive for me. If Im not visitor in U.S, I try it twice a week or once a month. Kind of premium brand I think4. Cheese french fry is Awesome!!
Ill be the first to admit I was a die hard Steak n Shake fan, but this place is absolutely delicious. This location in particular is really pretty, plenty of seating at street level and downstairs.Overall the burgers are good but that sauce is something else! Shakes are also pretty good, so dont miss out there (strawberry was GREAT, if thats your thing).
I ate my lunch here after visiting the Museum of Natural history. Its location is convenient. The burger was mediocre. It wasn’t bad, it just didn’t stand out in any way. On top of that the fries tasted like the cheap frozen fries that you can buy at the grocery store. The big problem with choosing this place to eat is the limited seating. It has a few tables on the street level and more down below, but they could probably only accommodate 30%-50% of the customers at the time. Now the street level seating had a great view if you could fight for one and win.
Great food. I really love their burgers. And the chicken sandwich is really juicy. The shakes and the lemonades are top-notch. When crowded the wait a little long and there isnt much inside seating. But now that its warmer you can sit across the street on the benches at Theodore Roosevelt park. Try this place you will enjoy it.
Nice chips, great milkshake but burger disappointing. Extremely busy with long wait. System of service seems a bit off with a 45 minute wait for fast food. Staff looked very miserable due to the demand. Perhaps concealing their unhappy faces would not create such ill-will in the customers. However, I love their philosophy. This was first time and Id definitely give them another shot in a different location.
We came here after a long day, eager to eat, and we were very happy with the food. The burgers were delicious and juicy and the bread was soft. We also ordered bacon cheese fries which were scrumptious. The vanilla shake was pretty delicious & creamy. One thing we noticed was that there wasnt much seating. There is a lower level seating area which was full, and there werent many tables on the ground floor. Had to wait for a few minutes as we ordered in. I would recommend getting a takeaway and sitting on a bench across the road.
Get the Chicken shack and fries. I know it’s heresy to tell you to eat a chicken sandwich at THE best burger joint in the country, but trust me. It’s an Amazing chicken sandwich. Or get the shack burger. Both are exceptional. Danny Meyer is an f-ing genius teaming up with la Frieda meats to bring an exceptional burger that beats out In N Out.
Shake Shack has amazing food, which was delivered quickly and efficiently to us. Their milkshakes are very thick, which to me is a plus, and the burgers themselves are unique and stand out among competitors. It is a very crowded place though with minimal seating, so I would advise you to take your food to go.
They might be overpriced. But the taste of their burgers worth it. If you are willing to pay extra for a burger that taste like a restaurant is up to you. But another thing I noticed is the staff here: I dont think I so people who work in a fast food place with such a positive attitude. Great concept, and good burgers.
Place was jam packed. Took around a half hour to get the order. Taste was below average. Could’ve gotten a better tasting burger at McDonalds. By the time we got our food it was all cold and the milk shakes had half melted. Very low quality place. If you’re thinking of going here you should probably just skip this chain.
First time in New York so had to see what this Shake Shack talk is all about. Tried this location since it was close to the museum and central park, which explains perhaps why it was so crowded. There are tables on the same floor where you order and there are a few more downstairs. All of the tables were taken and I am guessing the staff was so busy they did not have a chance to clean. We ordered a regular burger and fries, they were good. The customer service representative up front was also very helpful.
Truthfully, I go here more for the experience than the food. The burgers are meh, and sometimes the meat is a bit too sinewy and I have to spit some of it out. I do like the crinkle-cut fries though, and they are generous with the condiments (ketchup, mayonnaise, etc). They also offer free fountain water and will give you a small cup for it.This location tends to be mega- crowded, so be prepared for a wait. Also there are only two bathrooms downstairs, and there tends to be a wait for those as well. The bathrooms here, like it most Shake Shack locations, are not exactly the cleanest.Since this is right across from the Museum of Natural History and Planetarium, its a good location. However if you want a really gourmet burger, this is not the place to go.
One of my favorite burgers! it has everything you want: soft bun, delicious beef, melted cheese – its perfect! this place is my favorite to go after visiting the museum of natural history. it tends to always be full of patrons, but be patient! a table will open up and if not you can always take your order to go and eat in Central Park!it is so worth the price and the trip. always super friendly staff. no complaints at all!
Are people actually complaining that its crowded? Well maybe because its THAT great? anyways definitely stop by to enjoy the food here, because its spectacular, lots of families waiting to eat here too. I love it, the shakes are sweet && the burgers taste like quality.
I havent been to Shake Shack in a long while and I distinctly remember it being delicious. This visit was very underwhelming. Burger wasnt nearly as flavorful as I recall. The fries were over cooked odds and ends rather than full fries. And the staff seemed cranky and apathetic. I dont know if it was just the late time of day I visited, or if this place has just gone down hill, but this meal was a sorry excuse for the renowned Shake Shack.
Amazing burgers and shakes, this place lives up to its hype. Clean and comfortable first floor, more seating in the basement, and friendly staff. Highly recommend making a stop there when you can. It can get very busy, though, so plan to wait in line for a bit. Definitely worth the wait.
Im sure at this point everybody knows what the food is like at Shake Shack. I liked this particular location for a few reasons. The first thing is how great the staff were. All of the staff has a smile and genuinely seemed to be happy to help. If you look lost for even a second they all of they can help you and start to suggest where seats are free/directions to bathroom etc. Above and beyond. This location is also very convenient to the natural history museum and Central Park. The seating on ground floor is really great. There arent a huge number of seats in the ground floor, but the ones that they do have are against a long window which runs the length of the frontage of the restaurant. I sat at one of these tables and it was a very pleasant place to eat while looking outside. There are additional tables downstairs in the basement level, as well as bathrooms down there. I didnt go down there so cant comment on that.
I just had Shake Shack for the first time in my life and Im so lucky that this establishment isnt necessarily near where I live because if that was the case I would literally die of a heart attack completely happy.I got the smoked double cheeseburger along with their classic single cheeseburger theyre both good in their own right but the smoke bacon stole the show
I heard this was a good place. The shake was pretty good, but overpriced. The $10 burger was badly undercooked, and when I went back up to where I got my order (with my half-eaten burger) the servers ignored me for over 5 minutes. Finally I went back through the line, and the main cashier (to her credit) was appalled, got me a refund for the burger, and offered me another one for free. I declined, too disgusted and annoyed to stay there any longer. The cook might be fired by the time you read this, but just to be safe, dont go on Monday evening.
Comparable to any other similar style place: Smash Burger, Five Guys, etc. If youre looking for food along those lines, this place is great. I enjoyed the food. However, this one seems to get SUPER PACKED AND CROWDED: perhaps they could come up with some seating arrangements or some semblance of order when it comes to sitting down to eat? People were waiting inordinate amount of time to find a seat and there just has to be a better way to manage it all. Even picking up orders is just a crowded mess.
Probably the best fast food option in NYC. Not only are ingredients several notches above most chains (Ive seen their meat deliveries from a butcher that supplies to many of the finest restaurants), but the Shake Shack burger is consistently seasoned and assembled. It looks great, too, as compared to other burgers. For me, seasoning is too strong (read very salty), but Im nitpicking. Shakes, and concretes, are extra thick, if very sweet. Sadly, the fries are frozen for the sake of consistency. I prefer a freshly-cut fry, even if each batch is a bit different, but apparently Im in the minority. This location is very pleasant, with plenty of outdoor seating directly across in the MNH park. Indoor seating is very limited, though there is a downstairs room. Avoid rush hours, as the line snakes out the door.A quick note on my rating scale: 5 stars = exceptional food & service; 4 stars = excellent food & service; 3 stars = decent to good (top-of-the-line for fast service restaurants); 2 stars = mediocre; 1 star = not recommended.

2022-02-23The food was lovely, but the wait was horrendous! We arrived at 12:30, queued for 15 minutes and spent a further 30 waiting for our food. By the time it was ready, we were ravenous. They also ran out of buns while we were there, so there was a backlog of orders while they waited for delivery. A really convenient place to eat if you are visiting the national history museum, but dont expect quick service!

2021-12-21My first time trying their food and was surprised. The drink was very tasty. Not a fan of their fries though, a little too dry for my liking. However, this is the best burger Ive ever had!

2021-12-26Waited more than 30 mins for couple sandwich which seems to be so hyped. I remember the original shake shack at Madison SQ park when they started, it was very tasty. Sadly not any more. It just waste of time waiting for unreasonably hyped priced sad looking sandwiches for more than 30 mins to get… chicken sandwich was too salty, i did not even finish

2022-01-16This place is always amazing. Burgers are grilled to perfection. The fries are crispy. And the shakes are the perfect way to end a meal!

2022-07-04Another shake Shack but it’s a good one.The location is great, just across the street from the American Museum of Natural History so after a busy afternoon of viewing and considering various natural objects and scenarios, you can pop in for a bite to eat and take the weight off your aching feet. The food is as good as you would expect from Shake Shack, juicy burgers, crispy fries and good shakes. Service is friendly and speedy and the decor of the restaurant is nice.Need a rest after museum fatigue? Come on in to Shake Shack.

2021-09-06I managed to get here when it wasnt too busy. The burgers are as always great. This franchise has certainly come a long way from its origins at Madison Square Park.

2021-09-23Tried the Shake Shack on Columbus and theres no complaints from me with the exception you can not eat inside (Sept. 24, 2021), unlike the Shake Shack on 86th. I had a Cheese Burger, crispy French Fries and a Chocolate Malt. It was juicy and good. The staff was helpful and polite. If im in the area I will return. I would have gave it 5 stars if seating was allowed inside.

2022-03-28Cant call in my order and I get an error trying to order pickup online. Privacy policy also states that they will share my info with their partners. Small order fee on delivery. Website throws too many ads for extra food in my face. This chain is being shady. Support small businesses
