Cant say eneough good things about Shanes. Menu has a great variety of choices. Fish and Grits are a hit ( I had fried whiting). Other great choices were the Leos omlette. Also a fresh ginger drink and kraft of passion Fruit mimosa. Good vibes good service. Price point $$$.Walk Ins only. Expect a wait. But totally worth it.
Excellent, Excellent, Excellent.....drinks were great and the food was cooked perfect. Service was very attentive. We had the fried fish and grits with cheese (delicious). If you go please try the cinnamon donut waffle, it was straight crack! We will most definitely be back again and again.
Id heard great things about this place. Unfortunately my first time visit was very unsatisfactory. The only pleasantries were Lynn the server, Big K the security, the Pineapple Mimosa and the Arnold Palmer. Food took 30mins to arrive. I ordered the chicken and waffles and my friend had the fish and grits. The chicken was over fried, turkey bacon was cold, red velvet waffles were hard and could barely cut through them with the knife. My friends fish was over fried and had no seasoning and the grits were bland. I really wanted to like this place especially more so because its black owned so I was very disappointed. First and last time visit.
3/05/2022 the food was HORRIBLE.. I don’t know where those other ratings are coming from but they had to have been made up. I ordered grits and salmon my partner ordered shrimp and grits / waffles and eggs. Let’s start with my food. The grits was cold no taste non whatsoever it’s as if they just added water for it too cook. Then my salmon was the same s^**t just dry and blah as if then took it out the fridge rinse it and place on the grill. My partners food same s>Ht just BLAH how can you serve shrimp and grits dry there’s no flavor no sauce it’ll literally choke you. Waffles was soggy eggs horrible. Then 3 other tables was complaining about the same thing on how the food is tastelesss the only thing good at this restaurant is their drinks. A waste of my money. Then they have the nerve to charge service fee on the bill then asking you to tip . When my waiter was horrible and food horrible . I definitely will NOT be going there again I’ll make sure everyone knows about the food there as well . Unbelievable.
I went to have brunch with 2 of my friends. The waitress was very impatient, and kept asking us if we wanted pack up our food to go throughout our meal which was very rude. We only stayed there for an hour because we felt like we were being rushed. The place was not crowded; we were the only people dining upstairs. The food was mediocre. The table was shaking, sticky, and too small for all of our food. We were also charged a service fee, and it was only three of us. I didnt even think they deserved it because of the horrible service. I ordered from this place on Ubereats multiple times. I enjoy going out to eat, but actually dining there in person wasnt a good experience. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone. Therefore, they will not be getting a dime from me again.
As much as I have come to love this restaurant, they need to do better when it comes to the table downstairs directly in front of the TV, table 21. The table has been shaking uncontrollably for a long time. But other than that the food and the mimosas are amazing. I’ll continue to come here but I’ll never sit at that table again. Lol
My friend and I went on a Saturday morning around 1030 am. The service was good. Our server was very attentive to the table which is always a plus. Inside is pretty small. I ordered their chicken and waffles (dark meat) Not the best, the chicken was dry. My friend ordered their grits, she also said she has had better it lacked flavor. We ordered a pitcher of their Pina Colada Mimosa which was the highlight of the day.
The food was good. We ordered a breakfast burrito, an omelet and a jr chicken fingers and fries for my 4 year old. For beverages, we had 2 strawberry lemonades and a kid’s apple juice. The bill came out to $73 with a 15% service charge…. Which didn’t include tip. I understand the hike in prices due to COVID, but I think that it was quite pricey. The workers were friendly but if they are going to charge an automatic service charge, that should include the tip.
The food was great! had the Western Omelette & ordered a carafe of the Pina colada Mimosa which was amazing!!! the service needs help though, did a poor job at contacting me when my name came up on the waiting list had to call them. The server seemed a bit overwhelmed forgot a few key things like water & silverware to eat and missed somethings on off the order that was requested but the food was great HIGHLY RECOMMEND SUPPORT BLACK OWNED BUSINESS!
Food is great & service is awesome!!! Went for a birthday brunch. I ordered catfish & grits❤ and the thai chili wings are food-gasmic lolApple, whiskey drink was on point🎯. Seating on the ground floor is tight but the sub ground area is spacious. Wait time for a party 6 was over an hour😕
I hadnt been here in a while (over a year) and todays experience reminded me of why. I literally called 10 minutes before I arrived to inquire about the wait and was told there wasnt one. However, upon arriving I was told 20-25 minites. I chose to wait taking into consideration others dinners may have arrived within the 10 minutes of my call. We ended up waiting 50 minutes with just two people ahead of us.Our order was taken within 10 minutes of arrival, however, we had to wait another 40 minutes for a food some of which was cold. The food was nothing exceptionional. This coupled with the automatic service fee helpd me reconcile why I wont return.
Food was fresh and the portions were a great size; sandwiches were large and came with both fries and a salad. Our waiter was attentive and thanked us for our patience (we did have to wait a while to be seated and to have our order taken). The busboy came around to refill our water multiple times without asking which was appreciated on such a hot day.
Food was delicious one of my good friends took me and shes a big foodie so I was not disappointed! The only thing is that service was a bit slow. Music was great too it was some soft reggae with covers from songs from Backstreet boys,Celine dion,Michael Jackson.... etc....I had the Challah French toast and it was amaziiing!!! Coffee was super great I had it black with no sugar and didnt need milk or sugar #ifyousacoffeedrinkerI would definitely come again!
Covid-Dining, This place is walk-in only due to current covid restrictions so space is limited and wait times may vary. The staff was nice and ensured all orders were placed within a timely manner. Drinks & food was delicious. Wait time on the meals may vary due to number of tables they are serving, however it’s worth the wait. Menu has a bit of everything. I would go back again.
They must have gone to catch the fish while we waited 70 minutes for fish and grits and chicken and waffles. Never got the water we asked for and had to hail the waitstaff like hailing a cab to get service. Food tasted good but service was horrific. Wanted to believe in this business, but when 2 tables of people got their food before us and we’re seated after us, I can’t say I’ll be back here.
Great place to eat its a cross between a museum & a restaurant. Customer service is by far the best to par. Service with a smile, mix crowd, price is moderate. Parking is easy during the weekend day weekends is not recommended but Uber & MTA is always going your way. Gets crowded in a hurry. If you like soul food you should check it out. A fixture in the friendly atmosphere.
This is a beautiful black owned business with homey high quality food! Brilliant art work and friendly staff. Food takes a while to come out and it is WELL worth the wait. This is a great local business that I feel awesome supporting not only because it’s delicious but because we have to support local business in the neighborhood! THE GRITS AND FISH AND THE PANCAKES ARE AMAZING!
We LOVE black-owned business!!! The food was INSANELY DELICIOUS (even though I ordered a simple breakfast), and definitely worth the wait, which, was very very long. They even have it on their shirt “fast food is not good, good food is not fast”. If you have some time it’s definitely worth a try!!
Awesome food, great ambient, great customer service, freshly made food and coffee. Great portion size and excellent price. The toilet is also of very good size. We had brunch her and enjoyed every bit of it. The walls have portraits of notable people and the music is great.
I came here for brunch on Sunday and it was very busy. Host told me it was going to be about a 45 min wait, but that ended up being a 90 min wait. Smh the food was delicious. But there was a wait for that was well. This is a nice place for brunch, but it requires you to have A LOT of patience. I wanted to order a frozen drink, another mimosa, and dessert, but due to the fact that I was finished with my food already and had to wait even longer for what I wanted to order, I just checked out. My server wasnt at all attentive to my party at all. I had to call her over to us because she was busy assisting other tables. I guess she didnt care too much because her tip was included in the bill anyway. Thats something that you should also be aware of as well. Tips are included in the bill whether or not your server deserves it or not. On a brighter note, my pineapple Pina colada Mimosa was delicious. I ordered the big breakfast and that was delicious as well. If youre coming to dine in at this restaurant, make sure its not a busy day of the week and if it is COME EARLY and be prepared to WAIT! Lol
We went here and my boyfriend was misgendered by the host, which, we corrected and moved on. Our waiter was extremely kind and on top of our order/service. The issue is the food to price ratioZ the eggs were skimpy and dry. The waffles were hard and the pancakes were very thin. I got whiting and grits and they were cold when they came out. Odd when you read their motto “Good food is not fast food and fast food is not good.” We paid less at Bareburger and left with leftovers. I wouldn’t recommend for the price, honestly. Our drinks were super good! There is also a steep service charge that is not quite the tip so I would be aware when planning to come here. The service charge is split between everyone- understandable, but still quite hefty for subpar food I can make at home.
Food is ok when I’m able to get some, if you call in to order from these people beware they only accept pre orders ONLY if you send them your payment via cash app. If not you’d have to go there in the middle of the winter, order your food THEN wait outside until it’s ready. Horrible policy, employees have attitudes. Guess you have to take the good food with the horrible service nowadays.
Had a wonderful time here. Food was delicious, and the staff were extremely accommodating to my unfortunately many food restrictions. Waitress and everybody else were super friendly and efficient. Positive, pleasant atmosphere. Highly recommended! Also very on top of their COVID precautions. They have contact tracing, outdoor only eating, and temperature checks, plus the whole staff is masked up.
Ordered fried whiting and cheesy grits 💯 fresh and delicious! I noticed other people complaining about wait time, but GOOD FOOD TAKES TIME (also what the staff shirts say 😁)!Fresh food needs to be cooked! I think theres a McDonalds nearby if u want something fast 😁 also the service was 💯.
Waitress brought a check to table without asking did I want anything else. I said to her Why would you just bring a check without my asking for it. I was ready to order another cocktail. She said We want the table. They charge a service fee of 15% in bill. Also line to for a tip. Look at your bill very closely because you could tip twice as they throw you out!!
Most authentic fried chicken and waffles spot in Brooklyn. Loved the dark meat chicken. I’ve gotten white meat too though. Love the different waffle options,l. Shane’s tea was yummy! Good cocktails. Legit majorly look forward to coming here,Meal to get excited about! Casual decor, but still feels “special”.
The service was excellent josh and Lynn were very attentive. Even helped me to my lyft very quickly to make sure it wouldnt leave me lol. Oh and the food excellent as usual. When I dine I literally have to stop myself from ordering so many things because my eyes are bigger than my stomach 🤭. More than 5 stars.
A total secret sweet spot! I am hesitant to leave a review because I want this sweet little diner all to myself. The food is delicious and reasonably priced, and the long list of mimosa flavors is undeniable. I once got a whole pitcher for myself and can proudly say i didnt remember much after, but it was a good time. Crown heights doesnt deserve Shane.
Enjoyed my time here. Be prepared to show your vaccination cards at the door if you want to dine indoors. We were seated quickly. Had the Cinnamon Doughnut Chicken & Waffles and they were amazing. The dark meat chicken was filling and the waffles were sweat, crispy and warm. The brown sugar on top was genius. We got the piña colada mimosa. They were not as strong as they were sweet but after a carafe, shared between me and my guest, we were on a good level. Will definitely go back though. The atmosphere is great, with R&B music playing at a good/non-overpowering level.
Shanes ONE STARThis restaurant had been on my list for black own business to try..... My cousin and I decided to come to this establishment to finally and support today we arrive around in the afternoon to have brunch to our surprise as we approached it was not the well warming greeting 2nd the food was not a 100% up to par it was as if it was rushed and very sloppy the server tried her best to accommodate us but failed several times no one else came to check upon us and we are highly disappointed we decided to support but But got disappointed the drinks were watered down. If youre a black own establishment which Serves brunch you should be a little bit more brunch friendly and fresh food. I think it should be served freshly where people are spending had earned money not busy or sloppy something that people can enjoy we did not enjoy a food at all and we are people that go out to brunch every weekend and support but this has been THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!!!! IM HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED
I’ve become a regular at eating here, I love the food and the amazing quality however, customer service here is extremely terrible. I usually seem to get an issue every time, from wrong orders, to double the wait time because my order wasn’t processed. Again the food is amazing but the customer service almost makes it not worth it.
Food is amazing without a doubt, but the customer service here is at an all time terrible! I ordered a to go order for pickup. I was told 20 min. I got to the establishment 35 min later only to be told 1. They didn’t see my order and 2. When I showed all the dam proof, I still had to wait 20 min more! That’s a whole dam hour for some breakfast? Y’all can’t be serious and gotta do better! I was totally disappointed in the time I had to wait for my food. I could understand if the place was busy, but clearly it wasn’t this early. Please get it together for future business!
My BFF and I went to Shanes via a Google search and through process of illumination and innie-minnie-minny-moe. (Yes its that serious when choosing a place to dine). Anyway, we checked out this hidden gem that, if you live in BK, youve prob driven by 100 times. OMG...the food was de-scrumptious!! The drinks were 🔥🔥🔥! We dined outside (curbside) the vibe was cool in the little side walk thingamajig...but we made the best of it. Only thing is, because its on a busy strip, I think a staff member should walk around with a broom sweeping infront of the restaurant. Other than that...its somewhere to def dine if you live in BK! Be prepared to wait sometimes because theyre busy. But...its well worth the wait! Ive been back a week later since my first visit. The host , Greg is also the sweetest. :)
Holy mole! Would go eat here again and again. Their hours changed, so open at 9 on Saturday mornings. My husband and I waited for a table and for the food, it was worth it. I had the catfish and cheese grits. As mentioned on other reviews, excellent! Had ice coffee, so good. Tried the cinnamon donut waffle, not too sweet and delicious. My husband had the eggs, potatoes, and turkey sausage. He loved it. Will make this our regular spot. FYI, heard the staff say if they cant accomplish indoor dining in the winter, they not sure what will happen. PLEASE SUPPORT THIS INDEPENDENTLY OWNED RESTAURANT!
This restaurant is overhyped. I brought my friend for some breakfast brunch & was unimpressed. My bacon was WAY salty & when I asked for it to be taken off the bill or replaced because I simply wasn’t eating it. I was told they couldn’t because “nothing was wrong with it”. The sweet tea was over sweetened & no amount of dilution or lemon helped. My friend ordered the cinnamon waffles and wasn’t pleased. Seemingly everything was either too sweet or salty however my French Toast just had no flavor. No cinnamon, vanilla or nutmeg which are seemingly the things used to spice when making French Toast. We lost our appetite mid convo & just left.
Table for 2 with a 30 min wait, even though tables were open. Server was very nice. Ordered the breakfast burrito, big breakfast with french toast, and a side of dark meat fried chicken. I felt everything could have had a bit more flavor, but over all it was an ok brunch. Also ordered a seltzer water- $3.00. Thats a bit steep for water. Nice to try places in the neighborhood.
It was crowded at 10am so i knew the food had to be good. WELL IT SURE DIDNT DISAPPOINT!!!!The food was amazing. Everything my friends and I ordered came out hot and fresh. It was very tasty and quality food. We dined outside due to new social distancing rules. The vibe was cool. They also had a To go/ Pick up window. That line never died down. I cant believe everyone knew about this spot and didnt tell me. We had breakfast and it was great, and we heard dinner was also great so we will try it next!
BEWARE!! YOUR CARD WILL BE STOLEN HERE!!I went to Shane’s earlier today for Brunch and the food was actually good! Except when I received my receipt to leave a tip & sign, I did not receive my card back. I immediately informed the waitress, Lynn, who after 15 minuets of searching did NOT find my card. This was strange to me because my card was charged for the meal I ordered. So between the less than 5 feet of space separating the outside dining and cashier, my card was “lost”. I spoke to the manager who informed me that this location does not have cameras inside or outside the restaurant so there is no way of knowing for sure what happened. I was instead offered a full cash refund which was greatly appreciated. However, I will personally NEVER step foot in the restaurant or order food via Uber eats ever again from this place. I wouldn’t be able to honestly recommended this place to anyone because although the food was good, the bigger issue is that my card was suddenly and miraculously “lost.” I believe it was misplaced my staff (perhaps placed into the wrong envelope) or simply stolen by staff. There is no other logical explanation for this. Today was incredibly disappointing especially as a Black Woman supporting a Black Owned Businesses.
Just left there and omg amazing!!!! Everyone was hospitable, professional and overall just kind. From the hostess guy outside to our very attentive waiter, everything was great. The mimosas baybeeeeeeee!!! I would come here just for a mimosa lol the food was great, I had no complaints whatsoever. This will now be my go to spot
Shane’s needs to do better when it comes to customer service. The staff doesn’t know how to speak to customers in a respectful manner at all. I ordered an entire meal with them & the whole thing was incorrect. Instead of the manager trying to assist me, she decided to cause an argument because she seemed “overwhelmed.” I would never come back here.
I ordered an omelet from the take out area and waited for nearly an hour. The man at the front kept telling me 5 more minutes and after 50 minutes I asked for a refund. They after some fuss, they handed me my money and closed the door in my face. Not even an apology. I saw several other customers go through similar things with missing drinks, etc. I almost never give negative ratings, but that place gave the worst customer service Ive ever experienced. I wont be back. I hope the manager reads this because no one should have a door closed in their face and an omelet should never take an hour. I believe the rep at the front never put my order in. Save yourself the headache.
Crowdeddddddd! Long waits for a table. Service is so so although friendly staff. Can be tight depending on where you are seated and how large your party is. They have an outside tent and no reservations are accepted. First come first serve so prepare to wait on a table. The food is okay, I like the pancakes, turkey bacon, salmon, scrambled eggs. The catfish is okay but all of the food is in the nothing special category just decent. The drinks are good. Drinks are my favorite when going there. Pina Colada Mimosa will definitely remind me of pineapple ciroc.
My boyfriend ordered food from here on Uber eats for pick up, when he arrives they tell him that they accidentally gave out his order so he had to stay and wait for 40 minutes because they messed up the order. Beside that, the food was good. I ordered the deluxe breakfast but I was expecting a whole waffle, not just two pieces.
I ordered the Belgium waffles, eggs, sausage and the Cajun chicken sandwich with fries. The chicken sandwich was missing and it wasnt the fault of the driver. The receptionist took ownership by saying that the chicken is not included on the receipt but was included in the price. I was asked who could come and pick it up. I informed them that it was their fault. Immediately an attitude was given and the receptionist raised her voice. The food was already cold. I should have to drive to right their wrong.Update*Spoke with manager and he was more than respectful, polite and understanding. It allowed me to write and update. The establishment itself has nice decor and would be a great place to sit and eat in the future.
I love to support black own businesses however after trying this place out for brunch one day, I left pretty disappointed. We arrived at the height of brunch time at 1130 on a Sunday. I went with a girlfriend and my young daughter. We waited for about 5-10 minutes until a table was available for us, which is typical. We sat down and it took a while for a waiter to get our order. When he did arrive, he had a bit of an attitude, wasnt welcoming nor had any recommendations. We ordered a bellini carafe and two orders of chicken and waffles. It took an eternity to get our drinks and food. The Bellini was very good, the food however came out warm, as if they were sitting out. I would leave less stars but I give them the benefit of the doubt since it was busy 😔
My first experience with Shanes was back in 2016. My niece was college bound and her mom reserved the downstairs for her send off. The food was fresh and well prepared. Ive been back several times since then and appreciate the consistency in good food and service. The staff is friendly and professional. Its rear in BK but so appreciated. Today, I invited some friends to experience the same and Shanes did not disappoint. Thank you so much!
(This review is specific to todays experience ONLY) So disappointed in the hostess today. My son had his heart set on a waffle and hot chocolate today and I some fish and grits. I was happy to see their wasnt a crowd out front so the wait wouldnt be long. Unfortunately, that was the last of my good news. I told the host Id prefer indoor seating she commenced to checking the outdoor and said all the two tops inside were occupied. We sat, I activated my parking (via the app) but because my son just came from swimming he was cold and his hair was wet. I got up asked her about the wait for indoor (mind you no one had come to assist outside as yet) she said maybe twenty minutes people had their food th the table. I go back to my son who now has his his arms drawn into his coat sleeves and we wait, still no waiter comes by. I get back up and I say to the hostess we will just wait for indoors because hes freezing and no one has come to at least get the process going so I can get him out of the cold. She has a name on the list of a couple who just arrived and tells me that I would be behind them....How? I was already here! How is it that I was seated, had an issue with my table and need to switch that I would end up back in line? I was so frustrated and she seemed to not understand how that didnt make sense. Outside isnt a separate restaurant so why would I need to go to the back of the line. Needless to say I was annoyed and left. So I disappointed my son, which I never want to do; especially when he is looking forward to something and I wasted money parking. Obviously, I was still support the restaurant because I dont think its Shanes fault, but that young lady needs training.
Shanes is one of my fave black owned businesses to enjoy good soul food. Their grits and cheese with catfish is amazing. Everything is cooked with love. Their customer is also great as they seek to provide each customer with the bet experience possible.Update: I love Shanes but they have to do a better job with their their party delivery services. When my order was the estimated time was 50 mins for arrival. I know that they take a bit longer to prepare the food so I didnt mind a bit of a wait. When the delivery person arrived he had to wait 30 mins and even then when he inquired what was the delay they said that they just recieved my order. This is impossible because my order was placed way 45mins before he arrived. I wound up having to cancel my order after waiting almost 2hrs. I tried reaching out to the restaurant to no avail. Its not ok. This isnt a blast on them but an ask as a loyal customer for you guys to do a better job at taking orders and fulfilling them.
Having been here for the first time, the staff was very friendly and welcoming. I felt comfortable and well accommodated with my 6 month old in a stroller. The waiter was knowledgeable and well mannered. The food came at a decent time and was hot. The fried whiting was delicious but my grits left much to be desired. My husband and I ordered another dish which was satisfying. Veggie omelet with potatoes that were divine. Yes I would recommend this place, but not something I would write home about.
Went here last Saturday with a coworker and it was very good. I think theyre doing a great job under these COVID circumstances. Wait staff was so nice. Food took a bit but brunch on a Saturday in Brooklyn so a given. Straightforward diner type of brunch thats reliably good so Ill come back here again when NYC fully opens up.
Been going here since it was Shanes cafe. Came back after a few years and they have expanded. But the 5 stars is for the food and service.Expect to wait to get your food. But it is definitely worth the wait. Every meal is made to order with love and attention to detail. Never had a bad experience.
Food was ok it had d to go back in because it came out cold. Spent about 1 hour or more just to get food. About 30 minutes with no drinks not even water to start. Service was really poor. A few people complained and left while I was there. But I gave them a chance I guess. Wouldnt really recommend if it was up to me. First and last time there. I really expected more with how the whole experience went.
My homegirl put me on to this place and extremely happy for that. Cuz this place... man listen... the food was freaking immaculate. The chicken and waffles was cooked to perfection. I wanted to order everything off the menu but had to chill. If you haven’t been to this place yet you should definitely go. You won’t be disappointed. We went for brunch. I can’t remember but i think it’s unlimited mimosas during that time. I will post a video so you all can see.
My food was excellent 😋 I had the Shanes Deluxe Breakfast, grits cheese, fish home fries, beef bacon, waffles, eggs cheese licking my lips wait toast was even good.. Service was excellent and some what quick seen how crowd it was breakast bunch with Black we will be back again next Sunday.
I waited over 30 minutes for my food to be delivered. Then when my shrimp and grits came, the shrimp was tasty but the grits aquired no flavor. I sent my food back, then unfortunately waited another 25 minutes to eat from a changed order of scrambled eggs, bacon and home fries. On top of that, there was no manager to consult with available. 4/15.
Went for the fisrt time yesterday a truly gratifying eating experience had the fish and cheese grits for breakfast. My one complaint was the wait time for my food to come. However this was not the fault of the wait staff it was my impatience as I watch others enjoying thier meal that looked simply delicious The wait was well worth it I will be a regular going forward
Friendly, hospitable staff and excellent dishes! I can recommend the Chicken & Waffles, Egg Benedict and Pancakes. Everything here claims to be made with fresh, never frozen ingredients, which must be true based on the freshness of the food. Go in knowing youll wait some time for your food, but its well worth it.
We walked here after going to Brooklyn Botanical garden. The service was very good, the staff was very friendly and had conversations with us. The restaurant was pretty small and clean and nicely decorated. We ordered chicken and cinnamon waffles and a Cajun sandwich, the waffles were delicious! I wanted more. The sandwich was also great it was served with fries and salad. The chicken however was really bad, too much breading, not enough salt, bad taste, etc. Even the waitress agreed with us that the chicken was bad. If Im ever at brooklyn botanical gardens again I will definitely be coming back, I wont be ordering the chicken next time though.
You have to try there chicken and waffles. The waffles are dipped in cinnamon and sugar and fried they are to die for. The chicken was a little under cooked. But my food was so delicious it did not even phase me My girlfriend had the fish and grits. She ate the whole plate which is pretty unusual for my girlfriend.. the wait staff was very pleasant in the atmosphere whats is very laid-back and comfortable. next time Im in Brooklyn I will be visiting Shanes again
Ive going to Cafe Shane for years and my experience just gets worse every time. The food is good but my last visit I waited almost 30 minutes after I sat down for anyone to walk over and acknowledge weve been sitting there. No water, no beverage just sitting there patiently waiting. I see one of the gentleman walk right past and give a couple waiting on line something to drink. I was appalled at this and eventually I said something. No sorry for the wait, no nothing. I ordered my food then waited almost an additional 40 minutes for this guy to even comes close enough for me to ask for another water. I had to ask to pay my bill before I walked out. Still no apology from anyone except the waitress who I met before but was not serving me that day. The time before that there was another waitress who took our order then forgot to put in one of the orders then asked if we still wanted it. Are you kidding me? As much as I love the food, that was probably my last time there.
I’m still here waiting outside in the cold with my kids and I filled out the covid test papers before I came back when they told me I had a 30min wait..listen the food is good but if my kids gotta wait for more than 1hr in the cold then it’s not worth it..u guys don’t care about kids at all..ima just call the bb..u know the rest
I didnt even get the food. I ordered what seemed like decent priced breakfast, not to mention the easiest to make: French toast and bacon. That was it. An hour and a 1/2 later I called to see how difficult it was to make French toast at their restaurant. Sorry sir its going to be another 20 minutes, we are very busy today. Are you kidding? As a restaurant its your job to be busy and to take care of customers. They just lost a customer.
I went for a long run and was starving! Shanes to the rescue! Solid breakfast burrito with a side of grits. Good flavor decent portions. Reasonable prices. Not to mention, all the hip local funk music videos you can take. Bring your fancy running shoes when digging into your burrito!
Go! Go with friends. Go with your honey. Brunch, Lunch or early dinner. You may have little difficulty choosing something off the menu, but go ahead and go back the next time and get that cinnamon waffles and fried chicken or....nope you gotta read the menu. Oh, Shanes is easy to get to and enjoy the funky classic music videos too. Yep, been there with my kids and met an old friend for lunch, they all loved it. Oh, one very important point. This is not McD or wendys, when you order, it will take time. So either have a good book or great company. And its worth the wait, enjoy!
After traveling and paying $25 to come and have breakfast with my husband I found a note on the door stating they will be open at 10. After calling I was told the wait could be up to 10:30 and they could be closed for longer. So a $50 round tip for nothing. Very disappointed. If you are planning on going today don’t bother.
I used to love Cafe Shane, but lately my experiences has been going downhill. There are a lot of new faces and the service is not like it used to be. I was there yesterday and my bacon came out rubbery and my man asked for a coffee and he got it right before the food came out. Waiting for a server or waiting for an item like coffee for ten or more minutes and when it arrives it;s cold. My order has been put in wrong multiple times and it bothers me because I love the food there. Even my take out orders are wrong and I dont know until I get home. Its just aggravating because after going there for years to have to experience these issues now.IIMe being loyal and I like some of the servers and the food is good when you get it, I continue to go to Shanes. However, the service is poor too many times. I called for take out and was put on hold, I eventually got in my can and drove a little over 2 miles to Shanes and the phone was still on hold and it was not that busy. The waitress asked to take my order and I said to her as I picked up the phone from the counter, wait lets hang this up because i am here. She then looked at me and said sorry about that. I stilled purchased food and had to wait more and was not even offered a lemonade for the long wait. We have to do better! Elsewhere customers are appreciated way more.
My favorite place to eat when Im in Brooklyn, especially near the Eastern Pkwy. You will love the owner and the small shop feel, but the space will surprise you when it opens up downstairs. The food is worth the money you spend. Please get the Cinnamon Waffle! You wont regret it (unless you have problems with sugar.)

2022-01-21Big portions and fresh food that was ready for about 15 minutes. The dining area was a bit cramped but the tables were not too close to each other. You can sit comfortable.Seems like that place is really popular.Leo omelet was just perfect, burger and chicken sandwich as well.

2022-04-01Chill spot. Friendly staff. The chicken and (cinnamon) waffles were the best I’ve had in a long time. Great selection of music played throughout our visit. Would love to come again next time I’m in the neighborhood.

2021-12-18Nothing fancy, but delicious typical American breakfast. The pancake and waffles were both delicious. The eggs were cooked just right. The wait was only about 5-10 minutes. There is outdoor seating but it wasn’t in use this morning. The jazz/blues vibe in the basement was fun.

2021-10-24Wonderful breakfast brunch spot. The food was delicious. But what really wins you over is the customer service. From the hostess to waiter to busboy. Everyone was friendly. Food came out very fast. They have 3 different seating areas: outside, main floor and basement. Beautiful artwork on basement level. Will be coming back.

2022-06-09This is my second time here, less crowded during the weekday. They have outside sitting, upstairs, and downstairs eating. The food and service was good. I had the pancakes with eggs and turkey sausage. The pancakes taste like funnel cake and were really good.

2021-10-25Strolling through Brooklyn on a crisp fall Sunday I stumbled across a great place to have brunch. This restaurant has a great vibe and ambience. We decided to sit in their outdoor dining space, equipped with heaters that kept it space nice and toasty. The staff was very friend and responsive and the food came out quickly. The menu is filled with a wide array of delicious dishes and I am sure you will find one to fill you up. Upon completion we sat and listened to some good afro-beats being pumped through the speakers, until we decided to continue our stroll.
