Peter is the best! Kind and great energy. He came to my home because the hot water tank was not working. He diagnosed it, called the warranty company, got the part free of charge, installed the part, and just like that I had hot water again. I was just the happiest person, all hassle free. Thank you Peter.I was in the hospital when the tank stopped working. When I got the energy to deal with the problem, I called Peter. He came the same day, and gave me hope that this can be fixed. He did what he said and fixed my issue.I will definitely call them again and definitely highly recommend them.
Its been said you can judge a company best not by how well they perform but by how well they handle concerns and complaints about their performance. In that regard Shepherd Eng deserves a Buyer Beware at least from this dissatisfied customer.Last month after discovering that my HVAC system wouldnt switch off following a repair by a Shepherd Eng tech in August, I called to report the problem. I was given an appointment for a repair man to stop by to address the problem. The appointment date came and went with no sign of a repairman or call to explain. My efforts to follow up were frustrated by unanswered phone messages and full voice mails, eventually taking several weeks before I finally was able to reach someone at the company. At that time I explained the entire story to lady in their office who apologized profusely for what had happened and promised to send a repair man later in that week. Again the date came and went without any repairman showing up or even calling. All of my subsequent calls have met the same fate as before with no one in the office to take my call and none of my messages being returned..... At this time Im limited to turning my heat on and off manually which is a big hassle! thanks Shepherd Eng!Its easy for someone to leave a great review when every thing goes according to plan, however its when a problem arises that you really see the integrity and quality of a company. In that regard Shepherd Eng fails miserably.Update 11/6/18 another appointment was made and not kept. now simply not returning my calls. Find it very hard to believe the other reviews.
Just want to say this guy came to my house and saved me thousands of dollars, my boiler went down literally the day before Christmas Eve, and I had a company come to fix the boiler. The company told me that they needed a part that wouldn’t be in until Friday. (After Christmas) So we waited until Friday with no heat or hot water and then when Friday came they told me that they still weren’t sure whether the boiler would work or not. Then they told me that I should just buy a new boiler, but get this... they quoted the new boiler at $10,500 american dollars! So my wife and I were not ready to do that right away and we ended up searching for other companies to give us quotes. My wife found this company online and instead of them just quoting us for a new boiler right away, he offered to fix it. They came to our house around 7pm and in about 15 minutes, he had our boiler on and running. The same boiler that the first company told us needed a part that wouldn’t t be in until the Friday after Christmas! I could not believe how we almost got swindled into buying that new boiler. I will never deal with another large company again and I would definitely recommend this company to do any HVAC work you might need.
This was original a 5 star review, but I had to update: Did a great job cleaning my ac unit, but did not resolve the problem of heavy leaking -- the young men noted that the unit was tilted incorrectly and fixed that, so now the overabundance of water that had been in my apartment is now hitting my terrace. Not a drip, not a small puddle, but enough water to cover half of a 15 x 6 terrace in the space of a few hours.When I called to tell them that I was getting puddles on my terrace and the original problem had not been fixed, I was told that this is normal, that now that my ac is clean water was flowing, that it had always been happening, that those things happen when the humidity is heavy, and that Id just not noticed huge puddles. Despite me telling them that it had never happened before, ever, not even when new, and Id not be likely to miss that much water over the course of 8 years, I was still told over and over that it was normal. After way too much of this -- and I did get upset, as I really felt disrespected -- the guy indicated that my evaporator (?) was no longer working efficiently because of age. Now that makes sense -- it doesnt assume me either blind or stupid, and indicates a difference in performance from out-of-the box to big leaks!So the guy agreed they should come back and check it out, in case it is something else. Said theyd call and possibly pop by in two days. Nope. Got a voice mail message at 9:38pm. Very polite message, asking me to call back so they can put me on the list. Wouldve thought I was on the list already?The job the young men did on my ac was stellar, it really was, and I can find no fault with the assumption that it would solve the problem. But when it did not actually solve the problem, follow through from the company was lacking.
Called this company Shepherd ENG Heating Cooling & Refrigeration for my furnace for a repair, I have old people in my home and leaving them with no heat is very dangerous. So two very quiet but polite guys showed up with some heavy looking tool boxes and bags, I asked them if everything was ok. They told me about having a long day and made a few jokes about lower back pains and got rite to work. We haven’t had any heat in about a week and called 3 other companies before hand and no one seem to be able to fix my issue. I also had questions about my connecting AC unit that doesn’t seem to actually cool the home at all during the summer months. In about 2 hours they repaired the furnace and showed me that it worked. And showed me that I had a hole in my AC system and closed it up and added the fluid it uses I think its called refrigerant
Two of the best tech guys Ive had to deal with in a long time theyre service was great in and out very respectful people. I have two very old units that have not been serviced in along time I called them up and they came same day. My units are running like new and they gave me a step by step instructions on how to clean my units
They came to my house to fix the central air and did turn it on but when it came time to turn it off there was no way to do so and now approaching a very cold winter the only thing the central heating blows out is cold air! To make matters worse when trying to contact the company to fix it all attempts to communicate or get back to us were avoided by them and they idea of a refund might as well have been laughed at because thats all they were willing to do. Absolute worst service and quality of work in New York if not the US. DONT NOT USE BECAUSE WHEN THE MESS UP THE ONLY PERSON THATS GOING TO BE AT LOSS IS YOU AND THEY CHARGE THOUSANDS!
Recently bought a new home called up these guys for my Air Conditioner unit. They said they dont repair window units but they came out anyway and i am glad to say i made the right decision, they fixed it, been cold ever since. gave them a 4 star because they didnt want to come out at first.
I told them i want low temperature on my restaurant is 1600sqft the technician said you need a 3/1 unit for your sqft and you have a 5/1 unit installed which is way more powerful than what you’re supposed to have, after 2 days taking it easy and smoking blunts my temperature went from 93 to 87, and asking 1700 for the repair, i refused to pay and they destroyed my compressor, i asked another company to come over they fixed it and it’s 75, for less than what this company asked, their company is a joke.
I called this company about repairing my boiler & they sent 2 sketching young guys with a fake tool box, no uniforms, no ID, no truck!!! They came in an unmarked car with no decals & parked up the block after I instructed them to call once they parked in my driveway! Instead they parked around up the block & walked around n through my back yard opening my gate. I’m home alone with my dog thank God! Barely said two words to me & I said leave! Put up no argument & left immediately! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! SHADY AF!
My heating was broken for days and fixed what multiple people came to fix in a matter a couple hours. Great service and would definitely recommend to anyone who needs hat or electric help.
We needed repair on a church air conditioning system. Shepherd Eng sent someone who took care of it within a few hours, after another major company in our area came the day before and said the problem was too complicated for them.
Great Company called them for a boiler repair, fortunately the guys came the same day. They were pretty cool guys talked to me the whole repair. 2 young looking guys but they were 30 I guess looks can fool anyone. Anyway thanks guys, Highly recommended

Hey I Would just like to say thanks.... you guys came short notice and did me a huge favor fixed my boiler that’s wasn’t giving me heat.Right before a company quoted me 15 thousand to replace the one that was broken.One of the guys joked that he’ll charge me 14 kiddingly but they where able to repair the boiler for my building and get me thru this winter.I was good to see young guys that know what there doing.

Must say Shepherd Engineering,heating, Cooling and referigeration has to be one of the best HVAC companies Ive hired so far. They were very professional and most importantly punctual, they repaired my furnace, which restored the hot water and heat in my home.

2022-06-28Repaired my Central Air Conditioner, I called a couple company to repair my AC but they were the only ones able to fix it. Every time I had the unit repaired before I called Shepherd the unit stopped working. This is the first time in weeks my Air conditioner works. I recommend these guys to everyone.

2022-02-15The good thing is that they fixed our problem satisfactorily. However, they werent cheap and worse, wouldnt honor the warranty in which they were to supply the parts without charge to us and to get these from the manufacturer. Our AO Smith hot water boiler had been installed by them in early 2014 and parts were warrantied till Nov 2023. When our boiler gave out we called AO Smith which identified the problem through the error codes and gave us the parts authorization number so that this servicer wouldnt charge for parts. But their technician said they didnt have the parts (these are quite standard ones, a gas valve and a thermopile) and would take a week to get them from the manufacturer (AO Smith). We couldnt be without hot water for this long. Their solution? That we pay the list price plus their labor and then seek reimbursement for parts from AO Smith. Why do they do this? Because they make hefty profits by selling parts at list price on top of their service call and labor charges. They charged $310 plus tax while Amazon Prime was listing these for $165 including 1-2 day shipping. As a result we paid them $696 to fix our water heater ($180 service call fee, $150 labor, $310 parts, plus 8.75% tax on all). The irony: I contacted another firm that said I could get the parts for only $50 as theyd get the parts replenished for free under AO Smith warranty. But by then Shepherds technician had already almost completed the job. I asked Shepherd if theyd take the new parts I could now give to them and credit back the parts charges, but they refused. I had to repeatedly call AO Smith and send paperwork before they finally agreed to reimburse most of the parts costs (Im still out $50 on this and Shepherd wouldnt even credit this much back), in addition to the $330 plus tax of labor charged by Shepherd. The actual labor time taken for the repair was about an hour, plus 30 minutes of chit chat, so 1.5 hours in total.

2021-06-15I have worked with this company before and they are extremely reliable. My parents were the ones to recommend them to me on my first home visit for a boiler repair. This time around we called them up to repair our Vulcan Oven & Refrigerator. The oven wasnt hot and the fridge just wasnt cooling the refrigerator portion but the freezer was working. The techs arrived alil late but were very polite and friendly. I like the fact that they were wearing mask and gloves. Chris & Peter repair one unit each and faster than expected. Great service recommend using.

2021-06-15The company was very good. They are worth the price compared to other contractors. Installed a new central air conditioning unit and made minor changes to the piping as I requested. There was no additional charge for the changes. The installers were very nice and knowledgeable, they were employees not sub contractors to the company. I was extremely surprised that they cleaned up before completing the job. I didnt have to lift a finger which wah was a plus and they gave us warranty. I recommend using them for all air conditioning installation.

2021-01-18This is the worst company I ever dealt with. I had a heat problem, I called them this Friday and they told me Saturday from 1 PM to 3 PM a technician going to come to fix. It turned out I waited saturday until 7 PM for him to show up just to tell me that it’s the valve and they cannot fix it today because the store is closed(of course it’s closed since you show up at 7pm instead of 1-3pm) But they will fix it tomorrow,They told me that it was the valve, and asked $391 to put a new valve.supposedly they said and I quote the dispatcher “ Chris will come and change the valve today(Sunday) at 2pm” this rude guy Chris shows up at 3:15pm, he comes and takes the valve off and goes in his truck and supposedly cleans it and wants to put back my own valve. he said this will work when I told him no you guys made a deal with me to put the new valve he said don’t tell me how to do my job otherwise I leave it and I don’t fix it. And he just left in the middle of the job. My tenant’s friend came and checked and said that we need a piece that cost $12 in Home Depot and he just fixed it in like 15 minutes.I wasted 2 days of my life with this terrible company and I will NOT recommend this company for anyone.It’s been the most stressful two days and very upsetting time with those liars.

2019-12-16Called them to repair our central air, which they were able to do, however once they repaired it our system was not able to turn off. We called them to ask what was the problem, they would not reply and when they did the manager cursed us out. Horrible service, horrible work, unprofessional, they dont even have uniforms or a business vehicle. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND STAY AWAY. If you ask me, they probably write the 4 and 5 star reviews themselves, because there is no way a bunch this incompetent could produce 5 star service.
