Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel in New York

It’s a good location but that’s about it. Rooms are very outdated and cramp. You can barely put your luggage anywhere. It’s so overpriced and nowhere near 4.5 stars. Nickel and dime you for everything. Parking was $67, you can’t even leave your luggage in your car until check in. Checking bags is $5 per bag. The double beds were full size and small. Customer service was fine. They do give you $30 food credit & your room includes 2 free hop on/off bus your tickets which is regularly priced at $65 per person so that’s a plus.
Clean hotel in a great location. My wife and I stayed for a week and got to know Sydney who is a bell-hop. He was one of the most friendly human beings we have ever met and provided first class service for our entire stay. I hope that Sheraton NY treats him very well because they have a great employee in him! Thanks Sydney!
We stayed at Sheraton Times Square for 6 days on a Christmas NYC vacation! Loved the hotel! Very clean and comfortable! Jackie from room service is the BEST! We called every morning and she was very kind and cheerful! The guest services staff was also very kind and professional. Every morning we were greeted with a friendly face from the cleaning staff! I didn’t catch her name, but we were on the 46th floor and she was friendly and very professional! Thank you for making our vacation memorable! Would definitely stay again! Management should be very proud of their staff! Location was also remarkable! Couldn’t ask for better accommodations.
Its clean, decent, and has great staff. The location is great its close to everything except Brooklyn pretty much. There are lots of subway stations near. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The things that I disliked are the size of the rooms and the lack of true ammenities. There are bars, restaurants, and coffee shops nearby so the hotel having them did not add anything to me. What wasnt just a block or less away was a real market and the small one in the hotel closed very early. The lobby makes you think it is about to be a very nice room but its not. The rooms and bathrooms are very small. I assume it comes with being in New York but it was still very disappointing. After traveling to other hotels in multiple states and locations this one just left a lot to be desired.
The place was very clean and classy. Drinks at the bar were strong so thats a plus. The view from the hotel room was amazing!! The only thing I did not like was that there was no microwave in the room so we absolutely had to buy food from the hotel kitchen or somewhere nearby. Nothing wrong with that unless you want to save money as food is super expensive and the street vendors who arent, dont serve what they have pictured. Id say youll need around $400-$500 a day for two people to eat quality breakfast lunch and dinner.
What makes this hotel great? The staff. Hotel manager Bill Russell helped me out with a situation with a bus tour ticket. He brought me to Mike Darr at Concierge - and wow - what amazing service. Mikes a solution-guy - he was simply lets figure this out and solve the problem for you. LOVE IT! Id stay here again. Great location. BIG hotel. Not fancy, but everything worked fine. Fast elevators. Comfortable and clean rooms. As a Lifetime Titanium, got free breakfast - that was a good breakfast... and did I mention the staff are really nice?
Great location. Big hotel with lots of facilities. Hotel was also clean and tidy. Number one issue by far was lack of air con. My room was absolutely steaming hot for the three nights I stayed there. If it did have air con then it wasn’t working and either way, my sleep was not great as a result. Other than that, a typical city centre Sheraton hotel.
I was so disappointed with the service at this hotel. First, they charge you a destination fee of $120 which they make you use or lose is highway robbery! The credit is supposed to be used for the hotels restaurant and bar. What they dont tell you is that when you go to the hotel restaurant and use the credit they tax you on the food in addition to charging your card for gratuity. I should be able to chose where I want to eat and drink! Most individuals that come are travelers so most people want to step outside the hotel to dine. Also, charging a $50 refundable incidental fee to my card everyday was also discouraging. Simply charge one fee and be done with it! I never got good sleep due to cars honking and blowing all time of the night! Lastly, every time I asked the front desk a question their behavior and mannerisms where very impersonal and they acted as it they didnt have the time to explain and that my questions were an inconvenience to them. I paid $1,331.31 for 4 nights and will NEVER visit this hotel again!
When we arrived there was a pair of ladies knickers in the safe, a used face mask left on the shelf and no tea/coffee. Housekeeping couldn’t do enough for us and got us moved to another room. Reception on the other hand didn’t care but eventually gave us a $100 credit on credit card, still waiting 5 days on to see the credit, no response to emails either
Better hotels in New York who will treat you far better. Place nickels and dimes you with charges to watch a bag next day or a resort fee which they won’t give you credit for even when u use as suggested. Also just doesn’t have staff or enough elevators. I think with new management and a focus on customer service it would be fine but clearly not thinking about their customers here
Great location for our needs. We were able to walk to the Empire State Building, Central Park, Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Winter Gardens, the subway, and many restaurants. The only thing keeping me from giving 5 stars is that it would have been nice to have a mini fridge in the room and we had trouble with the shower water - it was either freezing or scalding. The bed was comfortable with lots of pillows to choose from. The room darkening shade was nice too.
I attended a conference and a gala here this weekend. This is a very busy hotel. It is well maintained, clean, and the staff is very polite.I had breakfast and lunch at Hudsons restaurant. The menu offered many choices and the meals were prepared well. Very enjoyable.I also went to the Library Tavern to enjoy an early eve dessert. There are some comfy couches and plush chairs in the very rear (by the library). You won’t be disappointed staying here. It’s a good choice.
Overall nice hotel. Excellent service from the staff. There was a huge group of +800 students staying at the hotel. They accommodated my family and placed us in a quiet and secluded part of the hotel. The rooms and bathrooms are a bit smaller but overall comfortable place to stay right near Time Square.
I loved my stay at the Sheraton in the NYC times square area! The staff was friendly & very helpful. Rooms were kept clean & fresh towels were supplied daily. Up to date technology & appliances. Eddie at the library bar (Barista) is AMAZING! Such a friendly man and the team gets the coffee made in seconds it seems like. Convenient location! I am definitely staying here again.
Imagine walking in after a long day of travel to check in and the person checking you in speaks barely above a whisper, while sitting behind a barrier, and the lobby is loud because its time square. When asked to speak up, they wont. Probably so you wont get mad about all the surprise fees that you werent expecting but legally they have to tell you about. Then comes the surprise resort fee, they tell you its $30 USD a day, yet on my credit card it comes to $63.18 CAD a day. Called the hotel for clarification and basically got told tough, if you dont like it, shouldve stayed somewhere elseThe rooms were very clean, but dated and the bathroom water pressure and water temperature is joke. Youd think for charging nearly $400/night, you could fix the shower head. Also, why is there no fan in the bathroom? The room is advertised as two double beds. They are not double beds, they are tiniest bit larger than single beds, but they are not double beds. Dont be fooled. The bell concierge, starbucks guys and bell hop are absolutely wonderful. As are the cleaning staff. They made up for so much, but unfortunately just not enough. Unless you have some sort of thing about absolutely needing to stay in times square I would absolutely recommend staying literally anywhere else.
I had a great experience at this hotel until the very last moment. I forgot my car key fob inside the room. I am pretty sure the cleaning staff stole it. Since I know where exactly I had placed the keys. I canceled my flight and came all the way back from the airport only to be told that they could not find the keys.
Plenty of other good reviews so I wont go over the basics. I do want to mention that the fitness area was the best I have ever seen in a hotel, and one that I would absolutely go to outside of travel. It had a fully equipped weight room, tons of cardio equipment, and the staff member there was extremely knowledgeable, capable, and helpful.
For anyone plz stay away from this hotel. The rooms are not clean and the management does not care for their guest. This is like a tourist trap and absolute nightmare we had this memorial weekend at this hotel. Everyone are rude and when you call for help they simple dodge your calls or hang up on you. We had a 2 year old in the room, before booking we asked for a non-smoking room, they gave us a smoking room and when asked for a different room they simple said no rooms are available. We are like what happened to our non-smoking reservation request. They don’t care for people very racist kind of mind set. I would STAY VERY FAR FROM THIS HOTEL.
Great location, but the entire stay was hindered by the freaking elevators. The system they have is absolutely terrible. Maybe ten elevators in the lobby, but each one can only go to four floors. With school groups being everywhere during my stay the system would get easily flooded and I found myself waiting 5-10 min for an elevator.
Nice hotel and a really good location. Its just far enough away from times square that its not too noisy but well within walking distance. Central Park is also pretty close and the Rockefeller Center is right around the corner. Price is a bit high, but thats true of all of the hotels in this area. The room itself was nice enough - nothing overly fancy but clean.
Two issues. First, cockroaches in my room. Security came up. Got a photo. Were super apologetic and told me to go down to reception as I checked out. I did. Guy there, maybe “Darius” said “The managers are all in a meeting. You paid online. There’s nothing I can do for you.” Dismissive and rude in tone. Thus this review to address. Second was I ate in the marketplace restaurant. I was only person in the place, literally only customer. Hostess treated me with disdain, didn’t even look up from her phone much less say “thank you” as I walked out. I just before asked waiter for a to go box. Remember I am only customer there. He wanders off and I hear him saying to another person that he wants the chicken for lunch, but only one piece, then he goes to a buffet and gets a plate with something on it, takes that to a staff table and sets it up, then goes up front and talks to the hostess. Ten minutes for the to go box. These people have worked there too long and lost their enthusiasm for the job and customer service clearly.
Worst hotel in New York City.Rooms are tiny and dirty. Staff is aggressively rude (except for the guys that store luggage). It’s priced as a four star hotel. You’d be better off at any other Marriott chain than this one. The lowest tier Marriott is better than this he’ll hole.
The hotel was nice but I dont feel like they were exceptional. Staff was great. I just felt nickle and dimed. I had to pay a huge amount for wifi, pay extra for a fridge, cheapest, thinnest pillows and stuff like that. I feel like if Im staying in an expensive higher end hotel in time square they should act like it. Im surprised they didnt make me swipe my card to turn the lights on.
Loved the location and staff. Didnt love the rooms (dated/loud + beds were super uncomfortable), and elevators were SLOW.Location: Absolutely amazing, you are walking distance to 5th Avenue shopping, Central Park, Times Square, and all musicals. A subways stop is right outside the hotel.Rooms: A little dated, small, and dark. Bathrooms super small. This is somewhat expected for rooms in Times Square at this price range but a few upgrades would be great.Quality of Sleep: This is the main reason I gave the hotel three stars. The beds are horribly uncomfortable. Incredibly stiff and springy. We did not sleep well during the trip. The rooms do not have a lot of sound proofing. Our first room was on the 9th floor, after an entire night or construction, they moved us up to the 47th floor where it was much quieter. But the walls are still super thin so you hear every door slam. Housekeeping also came before 10 AM each morning waking us up (we are West Coast so got up a little later each morning).Staff: Incredibly friendly! We got great service from the front desk and everyone we encountered was super nice/friendly.Elevators: Despite having elevators for lower/higher floors they were SUPER slow. Slow enough your food got cold waiting to get on one. They definitely need to spend some money to upgrade these.
Excellent hotel! Room and guest services are efficient they have one restaurant and one bar that changes into a satellite Starbucks during the morning hours. Its located a few blocks from the center of time Square. In the opposite direction is centralPark, and Broadway is close as well. Plenty to eat and drink. Your in Time Square!
Front desk is friendly. No hot water at various times of the day. Telephone in room didn’t work. Called the hotel using my cell phone was required to communicate with guest services during my stay. Ended up moving to another hotel by day two because I need to be able to shower on my schedule not at the whim of a hot water tank. Not worth the money to stay here. Reconsidering staying with bonvoy. Service has gotten worse systemwide.
Do not stay here!! I really am not picky when it comes to hotels, but for being rated as a 4 star hotel on Hotwire and Priceline, I would say that’s the total opposite. This was worse than a 2.5 star hotel. Absolutely horrible beds, and based on the pictures if you think you’re getting any decent view of New York Or Times Square, think again! The bathrooms were very old looking, and overall the whole hotel was just not what we were expecting after booking a “4.5” hotel. No microwave or fridge either. Absolutely stay away from booking this hotel. The only nice thing I’d have to say about it is that it was a good location. However there were plenty other nicer hotels in the same area.
Upon arrival, the bathroom was absolutely disgusting. There was hair all over the bathroom from the previous guest, there was a puddle of water by the bathtub (which I almost slipped on) and worst of all there was fecal matter all over the back of the toilet. The air conditioning was not working and the light by the door was out. We called guest services and requested the bathroom to be cleaned and have the light and ac fixed. The maintenance man gave us bit of an attitude and told us that it wasnt cool in the room because we had the TV and one light on. After waiting 2 hours of waiting for housekeeping to come and clean the bathroom, we stopped by the front desk and requested that it be cleaned. By this point we had been unable to utilize the toilet or take a shower. We returned six hours later to find that the hair had been cleaned up but the fecal matter was still present. We called guest services again and were told we were being transferred to a manager which of course went straight to voicemail. We had to go by the desk again, wait in line for 30 minutes, stood by the desk for 10-15 mins while they checked on something. We were informed that housekeeping tried to clean the fecal matter but it wouldnt come off. If that were the situation, the room should have been put out of order and the hotel should have informed us. Instead, we had to waste our time to get this resolved. We requested to change rooms basically at midnight. When we got back to the room there was a strong odor of bleach. Miraculously, they were able to clean most of it off.We requested to speak to a supervisor who was to reach out the next day. Instead of calling our cellphone number on file, he called and left a message on the room phone informing us that we would be issued a credit. Nothing was specified about this only being a credit for our stay.I wanted to ensure that the credit was applied, so I stopped by the front desk to check. The lady was extremely rude and so was her manager. He said I should have known that credit means an amount to utilize during this stay and not a refund. I was being treated like I was stupid. So I said how am I supposed to know if its not specified. He said he knows so I made a comment that its because he is in the industry working for the hotel. He stated that he knew that before here. Again, he was trying to make me feel stupid. He suggested I used $300 worth of credit at the bar even after the fact I stated I was leaving @ 5 am the next morning. So I commented what am I supposed to do? Consume $300 worth of alcohol? He basically agreed and said or I can get room service. What am supposed to do with that much worth of room service @ 10pm? He was completely unprofessional and unworthy of being in a management position. I thanked him for not being helpful and he responded withan enthusiastic okay.I have filed 2 complaints with corporate and they have provided better and more professional service than the employees here. Save your money and time and find another place to stay.
Location is phenomenal. Close enough to everything for walking but far enough that you arent in the insanity. The front desk people were fantastic. The room was actually larger than I expected. The minor drawbacks - the bed was pretty uncomfortable, but we were tired enough that it worked.
Been visiting this hotel for years, its becoming a little rundown needs a facelift to the rooms, need Keurig coffee makers, fridge and microwave, bring back the club lounge it is still shut down after the pandemic for no reason. For this and the hospitality issues, this gets 3 stars. Im on the hunt for an upgrade for me and my group.
Save your money and STAY AWAY! Let me tell you why.The rooms are disgusting. There was hair from the previous guest ALL OVER the bathroom and the bathtub. Our room was dusty and quite outdated. The phone had a hole in it which was stuffed with dust and dirt. The mirrors were not cleaned. The bedding was not white it was a pale yellow…. Yes you read that right a pale yellow and to top it off it had tears in it. Imagine staying at a hotel at this cost with pale yellow bedding. The towels were also extremely rough felt like sandpaper. The bathroom has no fan and honestly the room is stuffy and smells extremely musty. Our blinds had some unknown brown stain on it. The nightstands bad lamps were COVERED IN dust.I felt like we were staying at a motel. The walls are so thin we could hear everything from the hall and our neighbours. And just a tiny note on their insane measures to cyst costs. The toothpaste you get is a teeny tiny sample size. For the amount you pay you would expect a travel size tooth paste but no you have to call and you’ll get one teaspoon of toothpaste in a tiny little envelope. Truly insane. The library bar downstairs is nice and the staff is wonderful. But even there I picked up a prepackaged salad and found a hair in it. The coffee is also labeled as Starbucks but these are not Starbucks baristas you’re better off going to the Starbucks around the corner. The hotel is enormous which means the lobby and elevators are consistently a zoo as large conferences are held here. There is always a massive influx of people in very large groups checking in and waiting for the elevator at the same time. It’s a convenient location if you want the touristy nyc experience and it’s easy to get a cab from this location. But it’s nyc it’s easy to get a cab anywhere. I would never recommend this hotel to anybody unless for some reason you want to pay an exorbitant price for a dusty old dirty hotel and want the nyc tourist experience.
The Sheraton in Time Square is wonderfully situated within walking distance to the subway as well as all that Time Square has to offer. The lobby, conference areas are very modern. The bar is a great place to grab a drink. The elevators are efficient and are all touchscreen. Where the hotel is not up to par is in the actual room itself. Pretty outdated and cramped even by NYC standards, the room and bathroom were hard to be in for a small family of 3. Mini-fridges, which are often standard in most hotels, are only provided for a fee and on the nights I stayed, were unavailable. In summary, if you are only using the room to retire in for the night and spending the majority of your time elsewhere, this Sheraton should suffice. If you want a different hotel experience, would certainly suggest looking elsewhere
We only recently moved our loyalty to Marriott after being Hilton Diamond status for years. If this welcome and lack of service is any indication of our upcoming stay, It’s going to be a long visit. We have been asked to call the front desk (by the front desk) and been on hold for 20 minutes so far. Sadly, without any help, this hotel leaves guests to resort to sharing their negative experiences in reviews rather than addressing them in real time.
Excellent location, especially for Broadway, Times Square, MOMA. Subway station is right outside. Breakfast is okay but not exciting. Rooms are a decent size, very clean, have a coffee maker and fridge but no microwave. We had a nice view of 7th and 53rd from one of our rooms and a quieter view of behind the building in our other room.
Positive: Great location ! Couple blocks from the heart of Time Square. Busy area ! Negative: Very hard to get breakfast at the on premise restaurant. There is an app only pick-up Starbucks across the street, on-site Starbucks too busy. Also there was some phantom charges that the hotel advised will drop, but why are they there in the 1st place
This stay was the most STRESSFUL we ever had: I made a reservation with breakfast because we have children and I thought it would simplify the start of our days... And I was so much wrong! We had 2 rooms for a total of 6 people (my husband and I and our 4 children) and every single day we had to explain that we made a reservation with breakfast (obviously for all of us). I had even written to the hotel BEFORE our stay to make sure breakfast was included and I had the confirmation email of an ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF FRONT OFFICE but then once at the hotel they told me she didnt specify for all 6 of you! Seriously? I didnt even think that Sheraton could propose breakfast included only for 2 people out of 3 in each room!!! I had to go to the front desk multiple times, speak twice with managers... Finally we didnt pay for the breakfasts (as we had PAID for them during the RESERVATION) but this hotel was the worst and most disorganized I have ever seen, especially in its category.
Sheraton Times Square is a great location with decent access to rides and subway. If this were about location, 5 stars... but you have to spend time in the place.Lobby is nice. But the rooms... ours looked like it was maybe updated 15 years ago. Furniture was banged up and water damaged. Bathroom was musty and dusty.Beds are tight, two fulls, so if you have more then two in the room it is tight. We were originally given a mobility accessible room, waaaaay too cramped. We immediately asked for a regular room. It is small but reasonable. The TV in the room is a joke, it looks like upscaled 720p signal. One big perk about the hotel is the daily food and beverage credit. 30 bucks a day. We did the Starbucks in the hotel bar a few days then one meal in their breaskfast/lunch restaurant (Hudson Market). For hotel food it was very good, also super spendy (like everything in NYC).Anyways, this is definitely not a 4 star hotel. Maybe 3 stars, Ive stayed in remote Holiday Inns and they were nicer. I feel like I paid about a hundred more a night than I should have based on the room quality.
Very busy. They charge a $30 destination fee then give you a $30 food credit but thats hard to use. The grab n go in the lobby checkout is thru the HUGE Starbucks line. (45 minutes wait to buy a fruitcup and parfait). Restaurant does not do take out, so Starbucks line is only breakfast option if you want to-go. Beds very soft and in need of new mattresses. Great location. Staff friendly.
I stayed 5 nights at the hotel for a conference. Service is below all the other Marriott hotels I stayed before. Talked to the front desk on my way out and asked to have my room cleaned. He asked me to go back to my room and dialed 0. Seriously, I needed to wait and take the elevator up to 43rd floor and come down!!! If you need a refrigerator, $25 per stay. If you want to check your luggage after you check out, $5 charge since you are no longer a hotel guest. If not for the convenience of the conference, I would definitely stay somewhere else, not worth the almost $500 per night after taxes and fees for such a service.
The only good thing about this hotel was the location and starbucks but that’s it. The room was small and cramped, there was no fridge or microwave, the breakfast tasted like overpriced hospital food, the light switch in the bathroom barely worked, the bedding wasn’t clean, you can hear everything from the other rooms, really bad wifi, and overall just not good. like at all. I wouldn’t stay here again and if you wanted to stay here, don’t. pick anywhere else, this hotel is way too overpriced and it’s not worth it.
Do NOT STAY HERE! There Housekeepers are THIEVES! Upon arriving I was checked in a room which I was told was 2 queens when we arrived it was 2 FULL and very small! After being in the room for about 44 mins The front desk clerk was nice enough to move me to a full accessibility room for my mother with disabilities. Upon changing rooms I realized I had left a pair of sandals in the room! When me and security went back the sandals had been removed and per security logs only housekeeping had been in the room. I was told to wait and they would be dropped in lost or found or the drop box I waiting and spoke with multiple managers- Micah wasn’t rude just didn’t follow up but Richard Levine was very rude and disrespectful even told me security lied about me being able to do an insurance claim! Long story shoes if you stay here just be prepared for some unruly customer service and in trustworthy workers! Very disappointed
Booked the room online. Got to hotel and they charged me again for the room. Went to front desk to have duplicate charge removed, they added another $100 onto my card and didn’t remove the duplicate charge. Had to call Sheraton headquarters to have all these mistakes resolved. Took 5 days for them to reverse the charges. Left me over $1,000 short during my trip. The staff were in no rush to help resolve the situation and the manager refused to speak to me. Terrible
Would have expected a quieter, orderly and ADA friendly hotel...but kids running around all times in the night being loud and keeping people awake. I am not sure why anyone with vision issues or blind could maneuver the elevators as no Braille anywhere. What a custer of groups everywhere, no matter what area of the hotel you were in. Smoking a of weed, cigars and cigarettes seem to be allowed out front, even though there are signs to the contrary.
This is the most overrated hotel. Paying $400+ per night, I was expecting a lot better. The rooms don’t have even basic things. There’s no water for drinking in the rooms; you have to drink from bathroom’s water. No fridge in the rooms. Some of the power outlets in the rooms don’t work. Awful, awful, awful.
Overall, its nice. Cons, bed sucked. It had no back support or cushion to it. The furniture has some wear to it, stains. Plugs for electronics were sparse and worn. Pros, pillows were nice, water pressure was amazing. Restaurant... Not worth it. Way overpriced and prepared poorly. Air conditioning was quiet and circulated the air enough that you could go from cold to warm rather quickly. Everyone was super friendly, loved the security. The only let guest enter. Location, cant beat it.. Wifi was good. Worth it, sort of.
I was not fond of my stay at this hotel AT ALL. I came to this hotel with my friends and family members this past weekend and we booked (2) rooms for a special event. First, I booked a room from Friday to Sunday, in which I paid for 2 double beds and was guaranteed “35th floor and above”. When I check in, they say the only available room they have is a king bed and sofa. For 4 people. We had to take it because there was nothing else. When we went upstairs to our hotel room, it was comical. There was no way we would all fit in that room. I had to go back downstairs and ask them if they were sure there werent any other rooms. Waiting 20 min, it was as if they had found one out of thin air. We booked these hotel rooms more than a month in advance! The second room we booked was from Saturday to Sunday, in which I was supposed to have 2 double beds for another 4 people. The day of check-in my sister is told all double beds are booked again, and there are only king sized beds available at the moment, mind you she checked in right at 4 pm. She had asked how long until they would get the 2 double beds, and magically they had found one available. We had paid for a superior guest room “guaranteed 35th floor and above”, but she was placed on the complete other side of the hotel on the 25th floor. The people who work front desk at this hotel need to get it together and understand that we, as customers, are entitled to what we pay for! Total disappointment, never again.
STAY AWAY! They will charge you for nothing and will hope you won’t notice. We stayed here for 3 nights, all prepaid (including city taxes, hotels fees, etc.), we’ve also been told we have complementary 90$ to spend at the hotel that at checkout will be reduced from anything you put under your room number. My wife did our checkout and during that she never been told about any charges that should occur and they just checked us out. Now, 3 weeks after, I see they charged us for more than 100$, which doesn’t make any sense because we order in the hotel in less than 50$, that should have been waived as we have 90$ credit. They also charge our credit in over 500$ deposit “by mistake” that they wouldn’t cancel only after a week! Even though they said it should take 3-4 days.I feel like they are border line scammers and I’m so surprised by this from such a chain.I will never stay at Sheraton again.
Positive: Gym was awesome. Beds.. one was brand new mattress and I was by my self that was okay.... If it was two people someone would have had to sleep in the bad one. Negative: Three request for decaf coffee and they just kept bringing me caffeinated. The one old mattress in the room. Small rooms.. no desks
This review is about empathy of a traveler. The location is convenient to everywhere for tourists, subway, restaurants, musicals and theaters, banks, deli, etc.The services was ok, did what they are supposed to do, it’s expected at a high caliber hotel standards, as long as you tip them, they will help with everything. In three days, I spent $100 in tips for the door man, valet, bellman and housekeeping staff. Until I checked out at 11 am in May 2, 2022, met a rude front desk man, name “Dausus”. I paid ~&1,100 for three nights.I had late flight and need a place to store my two piece luggage, they wanted $5 per piece, that’s $10. I was out of cash and ask if they accept credit card for $10. The luggage staff accepts cash. This is an inconvenient for me to find an ATM in the rain with my luggage and come back to pay $10 for a few hours.I stayed in 1543, the windows were dirty, next to the elevator, people talking and kids noise went through my door, not very well sound proof, the four pillows are horrible, could sleep the first to two nights. The room shades were broken, slept with the windows opened and change my clothes butt name against office buildings. Hope they don’t see me.When I asked Dausus about a generous voucher to store my luggage, his replied “Not my problem and this is Marriott, and you are in NY!”I pointed at my receipt “Sheraton,” and had this review envision. This person should not be in this position and represent Sheraton/Marriott in any ways, needs more customer services training and empathy. I told him that I don’t have cash. This is an inconvenience for me to find an ATM with my luggage and come back. Still the man didn’t understand what I was going through. Not everything has to link to money, my trip and journey experiences became negative experiences. For the same price, I will stay in the Hilton next time, across the street. On another note, I was hungry one night, walked down and found food truck at the corner, there were a line of 10 local people, not tourist, kept on hearing chickens and rice orders repeatedly. OMG, I highly recommend chicken and rice order for $8. One of the best meal in this trip.
The treatment of the staff is very bad, and there is an employee named (TOM). I apologized to him for not having a tip and that I will give him later, but he insisted on taking the tip immediately and he forced me to give him 100 dollars, and he said that he has a change and that he would take 10 dollars and give us the rest back . And it does not have many services, for example, there is no sound insulation. When you open or close the door of the room next to you, you wake up from your sleep disturbed, and the streets sound as if they are in the room. The breakfast for costed 50 dollars. I paid for the room and the full tax, but additional money was deducted by the hotel. hotel is very bad in every single way . From the worker to the staff member (TOM ) that was trying to force us to tip him which i guess was not necessary because what i know is that tips should not always be given out . And to the additional money that was deducted from my card that didn’t make sense at al . My advice for all of you people that are even thinking to stay at this hotel for even one night is not to so you don’t nt get forced to tip the workers and to not get ripped of by the breakfast and the hotel staff which would probably take additional money knowing you would not do anything about it .
Was very disappointed with the hotel. I had received a discount from a friend who works at another sheraton and because I complained that I couldnt order a movie because cable was down, I was told that I was a discounted guest and shouldnt complain. There is no fridge in the room. And most of the employees were not friendly or helpful. Moping around the lobby. I also found a gum stuck to my comforter.
Positive: The lobby was pretty and smelled nice, Negative: The parking was unorganized and inconvenient. I was checked into a room that hadnt been made up yet at 6:30pm, Listed amenities were not available, the room phone and blinds were broken, The bed was a lumpy hammock, the guest services staff were snotty.
Wife got yelled at for asking for more than 8 bottles of water. Were a big party staying in 3 rooms for 3 nights. Were paying $30 a night per room for some BS fee and we cant have more than 8 bottles of ant sized water? Are your margins that thin or is someone on a power trip?
Positive: Great location and fitness facility. Very friendly and professional staff. Negative: The Daily Destination Fee was less of a ripoff than the more popular Resort Fee at other properties. It got burned up with carry-out breakfast items from the Library Bar (I already had free internet from Bonvoy) so at least I got something in return.
Location wise it’s ideal, close to Central Park and many other tourist-y places. People at the reception are rude, checking in as a Bonvoy member, I’d expect better service. They didn’t even bother telling me the Wi-Fi password or the fact that water bottles need to be taken from the counter on the side and they’re not in the rooms. Rooms are outdated, TV is outdated as well, you can’t connect your phone to it either so you’re stuck watching random channels.
I was very disappointed, its a sheraton but Marriott owns the property. so they charge you for a destination fee that nobody tells you about. reservation doesnt tell you and when you check in they dont tell you either. Its a great location but they charge you over a $100 in destination fee.
The customer service has been disappointing (check in was an ordeal that made me feel like I had walked into a roadside motel) and the rooms are getting dated and grungy, but... the location is stellar. Not actually in Times Square, but a 10 minute walk away. A decent place to stay if someone else is picking up the bill, but save your money if youre on vacation and look elsewhere.
Rudest reception ever. Avoid Marilyn from reception if you can. I am a silver elite member and she started shouting at me for being in front of the line. When in reality I was confused as there were two separate lines. Ultimately, she was so rude that I almost wanted to checkout. Never coming back here again. So much for Bonvoy Elite membership!!!
The whole elevator system here needs rework, havent seen rush hour for elevators like this that stop on like a good 4 or 5 wrong floors that nobody selected before getting to the correct one. Also received 4 keys to our room and literally only 1 worked. You pay money for this place for proximity and nothing else.
This is not a 4-star hotel anymore. Except for the cleaning ladies, the personnel is rather annoyed you want something from them. Breakfast is overpriced and mediocre at best. Room interiors have not been invested in for years. And the hotel runs on some antique IT system which requires the receptionists to calculate a lot of things on their iphones and input it manually to “the computer” :)
Positive: Sheraton is known for their beds, and this one made for an incredibly comfortable sleep. Additionally, the workout facility is fantastic. It features a cardio room, an even larger weights room, and a small Peloton studio with 10 bikes. The staff is great. Negative: Overall it was positive, and my only recommendation would be to calibrate the Pelotons occassionally. I tried one that was super loose (my cadence was sky high) and another that was just a bit tight (I was struggling to make my Z3 feeling like a hign Z4).
Positive: The location is fantastic close to everything Negative: Fraudulent activity they are charging your credit card for subscriptions and for the hotel we had paid already. When you alert them clearly they are aware and annoyed they are caught and do not apologize. Will not stay there or recommend to anyone
Positive: Location Negative: Did not like the customer service. Our room door lock battery died out and they did not change it and kept making rounds to our room when we are sleeping around 10pm. Everytime we came back to our room, we needed to call security to open the door for us.
This hotel has a perfect location, close to Times Square, and also from a walking distance from Rockefeller Center, Central Park, Madison Square Garden, Hudson Yards, The High Line and the Empire State Building. The service wasnt the best one for a Marriott property, was cold and impersonal. Beside that, I would come back to this place again just for the location.
Positive: The location was excellent. You¿re close to everything. Lots of restaurants around you. Negative: They are deceitful with the charges. I paid in full and they still try to charge me an additional $498, which is crazy because I was told that I would be given $30/day credit towards food. I never went over more than $15 each day. I was there for 4 days.
Sheraton Times Square is like sleeping on your siblings sleeper sofa:Prepaid for a King Room and they sold out and put us in a small room with only a pull-out trundle bed with an awful mattress. Lots of choices in NY, not sure why anyone would risk a stay here because you may not get anything close to you what you paid for, and they wont comp you for their mistakes.
I came with 8 people 4 grandparents, 2 adults and two children one me. Everything was okay until, breakfast. We went in and the lady named Irene who called us was the rudest person on the planet. She LITERRALY PUT 6 GROUPS OF TWO ( DO THE MTH THATS 12 PEOPLE) THAT WAS IN LINE BEFORE US FIRST. THEN THEY TOOK AN ENTERNITY TO GIVE US OUR TABLE. WORST PLACE EVER!!!!!!!! ,when we asked irene why zhe didnt arrange seat for us, she said she is busy and she said you better speak with the manager, honestly they TREATED US LIKE TRASH ON THE STREET.
Central location, great view, yet datedRoom of a decent size, yet bit datedSadly, bathroom was far from comfortable and clean - too narrow, traces of soap around the shelves and on the tiles, someones hair in the bathtubHairdryer not powerful enoughHotel bar had a nice atmosphere, but couldnt make it with Hendricks gin tonic.
Positive: The location Negative: The staff really doesn¿t care about customers and lies a lot about a lot of things and was under trained. They charge you a $50 hotel rate every day which cost me an extra $--- dollars. They charge you to use their microwave and refrigerator and n
Stay was great, I thought the room was very well appointed and comfortable. I like that there were lots of elevators available and never had to share with other guests. Team members from the front desk and housekeeping were very much on their game. Housekeeping was very nice, greeted me in the halls and went above and beyond to assist with my room. I myself even called down on the first night of my stay to let the housekeeping supervisor and the front desk know how happy I was with the cleaning they did of my room. The reviews I saw online had me thinking it was going to be worse. I didnt care for daily housekeeping service especially since I was there for work and working out of my room, but they were eager to collect towels and replenish my coffee and tea. I loved the bed in the room too! I got some amazing sleep while there, well on the days when I wasnt pushing my workload full force. I hate when I go to Las Vegas and the beds are all sunken in and/or havent been turned. I definitely did not have that problem during this stay. Shower water heated up quickly too which was so relaxing after my long days on the conference floor. The only area Id leave for improvement was the Concierge Team. I stopped there on 3 separate occasions, the first night to get a recommendation for thai food in the area. The concierge that night seemed very short with me and did not seem to know the area and had to google. I couldve done that, but recommendations from someone that lives and works in that area is appreciated. The next day I stopped by and the woman had a very had time of understanding me. I get it, were all wearing masks and they have a protective window, but still after the 4th time of repeating, it was a little annoying, eventually she gave me the phone to call someone which I thought was odd. I dont think she understood my ask and rather just handed the phone for myself to do. Later that day, I stopped by again and inquired on my ask earlier and she didnt seem to remember who I was. So for the rest of my stay, I just made it a point to not interact with the concierge team. Also, my final night I stopped into the bar to get change. I was immediately told Were closed! I said Yes, Im aware, I saw your sign, I just wanted to ask for change. I stood there for what seemed like an eternity before someone was able to help me.
Since we came, they never cleaned, the bathroom aren’t cleaned, full of dirt, they don’t vacuum, they once even turned of the heater when it was 20 DEGREES. Customer service AWFUL. Super RUDE. Cleaning lady AWFUL!!! PLEASE DONT STAY HERE. Rooms are decent but not showed as in the booking page. THEY OVERCHARGE AS WELL. Cleaning is horrible the bed sheets had green stain. They don’t change the bed sheets. We even had to change our habitation because the first one was EVEN DIRTIER,and there were STAIN EVERYWHERE IN THE BAD. I’m guessing they still keep the same bedsheet and they don’t put new ones for new customer. TERRIBLE. I thought this hotel was better but isn’t. On New Years they treated my 16 year old son SUPER BAD. They humiliated him, for no reason just because he had a black bag and they thought something suspicious. SHERATON DO BETTER… the women in the front desk the one that speaks both English and Spanish was so rude. She laughed at my mom in front of her Just because she was claiming her money because of the dirtiness. THE ONLY GOOD PART IS NOTHING….. EVERYTHING IS EXPENSIVE. Breakfast was horrible so was our waitress. She spilled coffee, and orange juice, just to show appreciation we gave tip because these are hard times but you should NEVER yell at a customer. I stayed in this hotel FOR 9 DAYS AND NEVER FELL SATISFIED.
Great all over. Clean. Perfect location at the center of the city. Helpful staff. Complete fitness center. Not that you are going to sleep in the elevator, but it is nice not having to make multiple stops when you come back tired. So I like that it has elevators assigned for range of floors. The rooms are decent size for NYC. It is not a bring your whole house place. Comfy beds.
The location of this hotel is good if youre going see a show. When we arrived, the gentleman who greeted us outside was great!!! Sadly, I didnt catch his name. He was super friendly, and enthusiastic about the property. The woman who checked me in could not have been less personable, but she got the job done. The room was fine...clean, had everything we needed.Unfortunately, in the lobby they have roped off all seating areas. There was no where for my 80 year old mother to sit (except the floor) while I checked in! There were people sitting on the floor throughout the lobby at all times of day.
I am lifetime Titanium Elite Marriott customer and I write this review with over 2000 night’s experience at Marriott properties. For many years this was my go to hotel when in New York. The rooms were always small, but the place was clean, well kept and had great amenities. Not so anymore, the furniture is scuffed, there was an open drainage pipe hanging from the shower ceiling in my room # 4638, and the bathroom was dark and dingy The lounge on the 50th floor and elite checkin on the same floor is long gone and the existing lounge is still not open because of Covid, but oddly the restaurant is.The staff is indifferent and could use lessons in hospitality. Front desk personnel are reasonably efficiently, but not in the least welcoming or concerned about customer needs.I understand the pandemic has put financial pressure on the hotel. However, management is too quick to use this as an excuse for poor service. For comparison, this week I stayed at the Beverly Hills Marriott prior to traveling to NYC and staying at the Sheraton. They have been equally impacted by Covid 19. At the Marriott, the staff who checked me in asked me how I was doing, welcomed me to the hotel, confirmed my room preferences for a feather free room, gave me a welcome gift with water and a snack and put more bottled water in my room. The Sheraton New York did none of this. When asked about the water, the suggested I could come come down to lobby and get some at the bellman’s desk. It was 11:30 PM after a long day so that wrong answer. And in return for this less than stellar service I paid in excess of $450/ night. If this is how the Sheraton treats its best customers, I would hate to be one without Marriott status. Note to management, I chatted my feedback to the staff on Thursday night to no avail. So I feel I owe it to you to post this very public review!
I enjoyed the hotel. The location is fantastic. It was an easy walk to so many places I wanted to visit. All the staff members I encountered were helpful and friendly. It was very clean. I was disappointed the room didnt have a small refrigerator or microwave. I didnt really expect a microwave but the lack of a refrigerator was a big disappointment. Im used to hotel rooms having bad lighting but even the bathroom light was dim.
We stayed at the Sheraton New York Times Square for a family event and from beginning to end, the hotel was wonderful. We had clean, connected rooms and check in was very easy. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful, despite the hotel being incredibly busy. The location of the hotel is also perfect for all sorts of reasons to visit New York City - it is walkable to pretty much everywhere, close to the chaos of Times Square but far enough away that it feels quiet and calm. Public transportation proximity and availability of taxis and ubers made this visit very easy for us. I would definitely stay here again.
Front desk- it was a good experience when we checked in.Room - No towel rack, no ice machine, room is SMALL, bathroom is outdated, no fridge or microwave but you can get one for $25 each. Bed was comfortable. The lobby looks much better than the room giving Customers a good impression only to be crushed upon seeing the assigned room.Location - ideal since it is only minutes away by foot to Times Square. Plenty of places to eat and visit. When we checked out we noticed that our credit card was charged twice for $50. This is definitely a fee that we did not see coming. I have been on hold for about 7 minutes in an attempt to see what the fees are for. Will definitely update this post.
This is the ideal place to stay when visiting NYC. Good location allows you to walk to many things. Service is excellent. Rooms are modern, well equipped and very clean. Lots of outlets for charging devices, solid wifi connection. Restaurants on site provide dine in or room service with a lot of other choices nearby. The staff are very professional and responsive. Its luxury living at very reasonable cost. Exceptional value. I highly recommend this property.
This is NYC so one cant really compare prices/amenities with normal hotels around the country.Location wise this hotel is wonderful: theaters, walking distance to Times Square, restaurants, etc, Central Park, 5th Ave, many sights. Youre in the heart of NYC so youve got that.Room wise...well you get what you pay for in NYC. The room is SMALL. About 1/2 the size of, say, a Hampton Inn room. Same goes for the bathroom. 2 bed options (which is what we had) are double beds, not queen. Now the room had what we needed, mostly: bed was comfortable, hair dryer, towels, etc. But there was not seating chair, appliances were dated, outlets were loose, drawers were small and sparse. There was an old mini-bar fridge that was not used and locked. Would have liked just a fridge. And no microwave. The view was the backside of the hotel so not much of one.Staff was friendly and helpful. We didnt go to the in-hotel restaurant. Looked nice from the outside. When it was busy, elevators backed up quickly. They were direct-floor elevators in that you touched a keypad to the floor you wanted and it told you what elevator to get on.So, it wasnt awful, but it wasnt great.
Positive: Location Negative: $120 resort fee is a scam to get you eat at their restaurant. Basic breakfast (2 eggs, meat, toast) $30+. Staff lost then after some time and additional staff looking found my luggage. Moved to Hampton inn a few blocks away and had better experience.
My family and I have always had great experience staying in this hotel. Room service is always wonderful and customer service as well. The Concierges are very helpful full and help you organize your trip and guide you on how to get from one point to another. Most attractions are in a walkable distance.. Will definitely recommend this hotel.
Our flight plan changed so we arrived prior to check in (7AM) and they checked us in our room. Life saver!! The room was clean and the staff was so friendly. You can order at the hotel, but Starbucks and Ray’s Pizza are both blocks away. It’s glamorous enough of a place to stay, but who stays in their room in New York City!! Loved it and we didn’t want to leave.
My husband and I came for a quick trip just to visit the city. Almost all of the staff were super nice said hello every morning smiled all the time. The rooms were clean and neat and our housekeeping staff was efficient and super nice. The front desk staff weren’t exactly cheery but they weren’t nasty either. The doorman and the concierge always smiling always saying hello always asking if there was anything they could do for us. I will return to this hotel.
Positive: Cleanliness. Staff. Negative: On NYE coming back in having to go downstairs to get to the elevator which where on the floor we came into via the doors. There was no mass rush of people. Was not explained as why we had to walk further to get to the elevator.
The staff was very nice and professional. The hotel was very clean and COVID safe. There was hand sanitizer everywhere and staff cleaning and sanitizing after people left the bar area. The hotel was also very close to everything that we wanted to go with only 3 mins walking to theaters. The check in and out process was a breeze. Overall we would stay here again and would recommend this hotel to anyone.
The Staff were smiling, very friendly, and very efficient. The rooms need a refresh. Mattresses were lumpy and uncomfortable. Lamp Shades were all cracked and missing pieces. Bathroom countertops were stained and shower surround was cleaned but grout needed a good bleaching. The location is great! Just a couple blocks from Times Square and easy to access. For the price I didnt expect perfection but the beds were bad!
I enjoyed my visit. The beds were comfortable and pillow choices were plentiful. However, I had to pay to have a crappy minifridge brought to my room. It froze most of what I put in there. Also, there were no waters in the room, although we were able to go down to the Bell Desk to get some. The elevators were slow and made us wait sometimes 15 minutes to get downstairs. Last, the front desk folks were nice but they did not inform us of everything (especially the fridge situation) and it was very hard to hear them with the plexiglass shields separating us from them. Please especially let them know that they need to speak up.
I stayed at the Sheraton in Dec. 2019 and while I enjoyed it, there were a few glitches with housekeeping and other small issues. However, I still enjoyed my stay. However, my stay in Sept. 2021 was even better, which came as a total surprise. I was shocked to see that the hotel was running smoothly and didnt appear to have suffered any staffing shortages or was still recovering from the pandemic in any other area. Everyone from the bellhops, management who were always present at the front entrance, concierge, front desk, housekeeping and Hudson Market staff were professional, welcoming and attentive. I couldnt have asked for better customer service from beginning to end. My room was fresh, clean and well kept. I declined housekeeping service but the attendant on my floor called to check on me, brought fresh towels daily and attended to other small items. I recommended the hotel in my syndicated travel and food column and have continued to do so with readers from around the nation whove contacted me about further travel tips after publication of the column.
We booked a double for 3 (up to 4 allowed in the room) and found the space would have been challenged for 2. We ended up having to spend an extra 130ish per day (discounted before we even saw the room) to upgrade to a suite in order to have enough space. Did not have 2 queen beds. We had visited the city one other time and slept 4 to a room at a competitive hotel without issue. With the combined spend, we could have booked at any number of other places that would have included wi-fi, had shuttles to the airport, queen beds etc. The location was just okay, and the view was poor. All that said, we typically find Marriott/Sheraton properties compelling and for that reason, did not hesitate to book here. In the end we werent unhappy, just underwhelmed and under provisioned.
The hotels location was great! As people who have never booked their own hotel in NYC before the area was very safe, centrally located and near a lot of restaurants. We loved being super close to Times Square, the Rockefeller Center, the Broadway Theaters and the subway to get to the World Trade Center and the Yankees game. The staff was very pleasant, the food was very good at the Market, and the rooms were very nice. Not to mention all of the health precautions due to COVID were very appreciated. Would 100% stay here again!
Positive: The rooms were okay. You can get similar amenities at a motel for cheaper. The location is the best part about the hotel and staff are nice. Negative: I didn¿t like that during check out is when you are informed about the $90 credit you HAVE to use or you lose it. I barely used even $30 so that¿s just a set up especially since the restaurant wasn¿t open. They should let customers know that upon
Amazing. Been here since June for work. From management and the staff for their kindness, thoughtfulness and making me feel safe. Highly recommend this hotel. It’s beautiful and so are the people that work there. Kudos to all, especially the cleaning staff. Ms. Ruth, also security Ms. Lorraine. Everyone has my heartfelt thanks.
My family and I were notified on check in that there was a previously undisclosed sur charge of $30 per room. They apologized and gave us each a $30 credit, good only towards the in-hotel gift shop, cafe, etc. When a small coffee and water from their cafe costs $10, this seems like an underhanded scheme to extract more money from guests. $30 was the difference between this hotel and a notably nicer place down the block.Upon checkout the next morning, I asked if I could check my bags there for a few hours so I didn’t have to lug them around the city. No, they won’t check bags for free, but there is an on-site independent bag checking company that charges $5 per item. My laptop, purse, and small duffel would cost $15, no matter if I only left them there for an hour.I am willing to pay more for quality accommodations and service with transparent fees. The Sheraton missed the mark. Next time I visit NYC I will stay elsewhere.I would like to add that the people behind the counter were pleasant to talk to. They are not at fault, but rather the management.
Our recent stay at the Sheraton Time Square, was a bit disappointing. Upon arrival there was a complication reference parking arrangements that I had prepaid online that did not get corrected until the following day. Upon arrival to the room the toilet was not working, the refrigerator was not working, and half of the outlets in the room we’re not working. The toilet was repaired very quickly after phoning the front desk the other two we just didn’t bother with. We did find the staff to be very friendly and helpful. We did have breakfast in the morning at the hotel and that too a bit disappointing quality wise. Although the coffee was excellent. We are not people ever complain bud I would not recommend this hotel in the future.
I have been traveling for work and staying in Bonvoy properties, given my lifetime Titanium Elite status. When I checked in, the front desk staff was friendly and offered me a club floor room. The rooms are typical of New York hotels, a bit small on the square footage, and you can frequently hear hallway noise, but otherwise quiet. I noticed there weren’t many amenities in the room, a few wrapped plastic cups in the bathroom, and an ice bucket. I also noticed a lack of water bottles—neither complementary nor for purchase. When I contacted the staff through the Bonvoy app, they said due to Covid, they no longer deliver water bottles to the room and that I needed to come down to the front desk if I wanted to pick anything up. This was also the first day they offered room service on Sept 8 but didn’t have a room service menu in the room. Or, as noted, any other information about New York or the hotel. When I needed to jot a quick note down, I was again flustered. There was no pen or notepad to be found.I suppose covid has meant this hotel is using it as an excuse to cut as much cost as possible, but it felt more like a motel than a high-end hotel on Times Square. As noted, Ive stayed at other properties during this crazy time, and this property does make you feel safe during the pandemic. The elevators go directly to your floors and are expedient and in working order, and everyone is wearing a mask.In summary, if youre worried about Covid, this is the place for you. Very safe because nothing is in the room, and the staff will use that as an excuse for poor service.
We booked it last min through bonvoy reservations to fix our earlier hotel booking. The location is amazing , a few block from time square . The view is blocked by buildings . The original halal guy cart is on 6th and 53rd. The room was spacious , we got upgraded to King. It was clean. They don’t have a kettle though. Room service was great we used it to mostly breakfast and one late night snack .
This Sheraton hotel has made some significant improvements over time. Most notably the elevator system is quite speedy even on busy event weekends like the MYC Marathon weekend when I stayed. I was also treated well at the front desk who noted my status and moved my room to the top floor which kept the city noises mostly unnoticeable. The in-hotel Starbucks is a welcome convenience even though there are tons of great restaurant options very close to the hotel. Museums, Central Park and Times Square are also close and everything else is within easy reach by subway.
Front desk- it was a good experience when I checked in. Shame on me for not remembering the name of the staff that checked me in. I was able to check in at 10 AM vice 2 PM. I have emailed and called to arrange it though.Room - Holiday inn express has more amenities than this place. No towel rack, no ice machine, room is small, bathroom is outdated, no fridge but you can get one for $25. The lobby looks much better than the room giving Customers a good impression only to be crushed upon seeing the assigned room.Location - ideal or probably one of the best since it is only minutes away by foot to Times Square. Plenty of places to eat and visit. This is our first day and have 3 more to go. Will definitely update this post.
This is a nice hotel. Im sure once things get normalized it will get 5 stars. The restaurant will open and people can sit and enjoy things. Rooms have plenty of space by NYC standards and the under appreciated staff still manage to be more than helpful. I will be back!
Positive: Location is great. Nice lobby, elevators and energy. Rooms had plenty of clean towels. Negative: Rooms are not as nice as the lobby. My room had someones half drunk wine container in the mini bar. The mini bar was unplugged and dirty and looked like it had not been used in months or over a year. Have to wonder why it was even in the room.
Overall, a nice location and what staff there was on site was very friendly and courteous - but they were obviously overworked. I put in a Suite Night Upgrade Request 60 days ahead of my stay, and found out on arrival that it would not be honored. Honestly, if all of your 61 Suites were full, then you are making enough money to fully staff and not make people stand in line for 30 minutes at breakfast and eat their breakfast in the room because you do not have enough staff to seat people or check vaccine status. The staff on site works very hard, too hard in my opinion, as the hotel seems to be trying to save money on staff by overworking the a skeleton crew. This has to stop, as this appears to be an across the board Marriott relaxation of standards - COVID has been around for a while now, travel obviously is coming back from the brink, you need to bear the economic downturn instead of passing it on to your most loyal customers. Full service hotels need to be full service - not overworked skeleton crews. Great location, would be a great hotel if it was living up to Marriotts usual standards. I feel sorry for the crew as they are being asked to provide service above and beyond what is reasonable with such staffing shortages.
Positive: Location was convenient, room was average hotel size, staff was friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Room could have been cleaner. I didn¿t appreciate finding someone¿s leftover dirty sock hanging/stuck in a bedside drawer. Negative: Billing is a nightmare! Hidden fees! I was charged variable destination fees of $32 and $117 a day, and was charged another $50 a day¿fees not disclosed pre-booking or at check-in!I Was also charged for two guests although I booked single and was so
Positive: Location-I loved being slightly north of Times Square. We walked to the park each morning for a run. Close to lots to Subway stops to get everywhere we wanted to be easily. I found the staff to be friendly and helpful, especially housekeeping. Negative: There were aspects of the room that were a bit shabby, like cracked lampshade, scratched headboard, and paint but overall the room was clean and comfortable.
I am enjoying my stay at the Sheraton New York Times Square. The location is fabulous because it is very close to eateries, a few blocks from shopping and Times Square. The view from my room is beautiful reminding me I am in NYC. I am glad I found it and will return when I visit the city again.
This is a nice hotel in a great location. The Library Bar is fantastic. We had some trouble at checkin, and later with a modest water leak in the room. We had to strongly advocate for ourselves in order to not be taken advantage of by the staffs apathy. It was a serious hassle.
On the entrance theres a bar / restaurant the staff there can see you standing waiting to order for 10 to 15 minutes and they wont acknowledge you or ask you what you need, theyll be pretending doing something, you end up leaving the hotel and go order coffee or food outside, i am sorry for the management loads of losses cuz of staff not welling to do the basics
The hotel is large and beautiful. Location was out of the chaos of Times Square, but close to it still. Rooms were very nice. Pillows were not great, however. We didn’t eat there, so can’t speak to those services. Staff was attentive and check-in and out was fast. Nice place.
This stay was beyond disappointing from check in to check out. Cleanliness was poor. Bathroom in room was filthy. Beds were uncomfortable. Management was unhelpful. Amenities lacked. Communication was poor. They lie and bill added charges at checkout without clarification. Customer service experience all around was the worst I ever experienced while traveling. I do not recommend this hotel in any form or fashion. It was a unsavory experience to say the least.
Positive: The staff were excellent. Terrific customer service. They upgraded our room. Negative: $30 automatic charge on our account which had to be used for hotel food and beverages. Absurd and inconsistent COVID rules, we could sit and eat in the lobby but not in the coffee lounge.
Weve stayed here a few times. We love the location.. right in the middle between Central Park and Times Square without being too close to the craziness of Times Square. Our recent visit was a little disappointing. Covid is currently out of control in NYC. We had to show vax cards to get into the bar, which is fine but then one of the bar wait staff shows up to take our order without wearing a mask. Tried ordering a town car from concierge but he said it was too close to our departure so we should ask the doorman for a Taxi. We head down with plenty of time and look around to find no doorman. No big deal, we flag down our own taxi. Were all loaded and ready to pull away when the doorman shows up and comes rushing up to the Taxi to send us on our way, clearly looking for a tip. Not this time.
The front desk staff were rude and dismissive on check-in, and any time I had to call with a question. The check-in process was a mess, asking me to download the app to check in only to then tell me that I still had to check-in at the front desk. It was a waste of my time and when I tried to ask the front desk about it, they acted like I was making up the app check-in entirely. The room was small and the mini-bar was taped shut in a very cheap looking way. The rest of the room was comfortable enough, although several of the outlets at the base of the lamps didnt work properly and the shower curtain smelled like mildew. The bar area was nice enough, and a convenient location for my husband to do some remote work while I was in the office. Overall, I think that this hotel would maybe be worth three stars but definitely not four. I would not want to stay here again or interact with any of their staff.
Stayed there a while ago. Got a noise complaint. Fair - we were talking loud. Got a second noise complaint minutes later. We were almost whispering while in bed. Management said they were outside the door listening for noise.Even if we were loud (definitely not the second time) thats SUPER creepy. Also pretty expensive and bad service. 3/10
We initially booked a hotel across the street. We knew immediately we could not stay there for a week and looked up the rates for this Sheraton. The price turned out to be $200 cheaper and an 100% better. I said every day of our stay that I was so thankful we switched to the Sheraton. The only thing I found this hotel lacking was amenities. Some of them were closed due to covid, which I understand. (Restaurants, fitness center) What I feel are basic amenities like a fridge, laundry facilities and vending machines were not even available. Other than these things the stay was nice. The location was perfect and the rooms were well maintained and updated. The staff was friendly however housekeeping cleaned when we requested twice that they don’t. We put up our privacy sign after that and they didn’t do it again. Overall a very pleasant stay.
I went for a workout in the fitness center and it turned out to be an exceptional fitness and customer service experience. A good workout changes my day, so when Im on the road its the first thing I do. At the end of my workout, there was a guest in the gym who was being extremely rude, tying up several pieces of equipment and not letting other guests use them. He said, its not your personal gym and youll have to wait until Im done working out. Even when I asked to work in, this guest said no. I went to the fitness center staff member, Andre, and asked if he could intervene. He went over and talked to this guest, but also asked me what I liked to do as far as workouts. Andre then spent about half an hour leading me through one of the best workouts Ive had in a long time. What a tremendous asset to have on staff. Andre was the perfect mix of diplomacy and customer service, while diffusing a very frustrating experience. You dont find a lot of people going above and beyond these days, so I felt compelled to write about an exceptional customer service experience. Thank you Andre, you should be running this place :)
Nice hotel. Rooms are a little small (especially the bathroom which doesnt have enough light). There is a restaurant and Starbucks onsite. It is very quiet and close enough to the theater district to walk to the theaters bot far enough away to nor have all the hustle and bustle.
Positive: Hotel was clean and location was perfect Negative: Hotel charged me an extra $34 tax that they said I could use in the hotel services. Over hour wait for restaurant. And was charged an additional $15 to hold our 3 bags . Could not use $34 tax credit towards this . So I got scammed for $34 by hotel
This hotel was excellent!!! My children and I stayed for two weeks while my son performed in two theater shows. Every staff member in the hotel was always nice, friendly, helpful, and professional! The hotel was always clean and looked so grand! This hotel is actually very much centrally located for everything. Time Square is just a couple blocks away, as is NBC studios, Carnegie Hall, radio city music Hall, and many other places. The hotel was only five blocks away from the theater studio where we needed to go!!! Do yourself a favor, and stay at the Sheraton New York Time Square!!! Thank me later!!!
Refrigerator not available to use unless paying an additional fee - not as advertised. Water not available in room as described - when I inquired I was told that I needed to request at front desk. The beds are not big enough to share. My wife and I are slim and the beds were way too small. When we initially arrived at the room I called front desk to see if I could pay to upgrade to a bigger room since our room was TINY and we had 2 adults, a 16 and 11 year old. They immediately shot me down by stating that all rooms are the same size, which was a lie since the rooms directly on the other size of the corridor were bigger. The hotel is outdated and devoid of a welcoming, warm atmosphere. Great location was the only positive.
A very good location- but rooms need updating and thorough cleaning. Then it would be worth the current price of room. It should stand up in quality for being a Marriott hotel. Was disappointed. Also they charge to hold luggage - what ??? Can’t believe that with taxes and resort fees on top of price of room. It also said it had pool or had picture no pool at this location. Had to change room twice due to broken electric issues and poor stream on shower and no hot water. Beds old, small and uncomfortable!!
I was in town for one night to see a show. The hotel is coming back from the Covid period. Club lounge and room service still not available. No minibar/frig in rooms, there is a $25 charge if you want one. I requested one, its arrival was delayed, so I cancelled. The first room I was given did not smell very good, so they switched us. The second room was just fine. The front desk was very accommodating and attentive to the problem.
Positive: Location only Negative: Phone broken in room, couldnt call front desk even! Never came to fix as stated, waited an hour to get clean towels and coffee that housekeeping didnt replace, toilet broken and running constantly, light out room entrance, shower curtain with bad odor.
What I feel are basic amenities like a fridge, laundry facilities and vending machines were not even available. Other than these things the stay was nice. The location was perfect and the rooms were well maintained and updated.
Good location and rooms are clean but cleaning staff does love to just go inside the room even if the do not disturb paper is on the door dont know why and they linger on the halls next to you room waiting for when your going to check out i find it disturbing i got asked when was my check out time and then the lady just camped next to my room for 2 hours Breakfast is bad no buffet all other hotels have resumed buffet they still have covid restrictions at least thats what they say.
I read through most of the reviews and I have no idea why anyone would complain about this place. The beds are totally comfy! The location is two blocks from Times Square so the noise isnt keeping you up all night, but you can quickly be in the center of the excitement. They have Starbucks in the lobby with lots of choices for breakfast (even during Covid!). The staff was friendly and everything was very clean. The rooms were nice, not run down at all. I had a lovely stay!

2022-03-31A few things which did not work out: the room did not have a fridge and microwave and we had to pay for both then there seems to be a fine print where we need to pay a fee per room per each day which was 180 $ and front desk knows and agrees that this upsets people yet management keeps this rule. You are basically forcing people to spend this money in the hotel by offering a matching credit to be spent at the hotel. Last one which we felt quite upset about is that you wanted to charge us our last day for the bags we checked in at the lobby. I have never seen a hotel to charge its customers for checking bags in for a few hours. You see you think your location will always get you enough traffic and making these small adjustments to your customers will get you somewhere but it actually does not. I am just not going to come back and like probably some others, I will express my discontent about your hospitality. The rooms were also old and I was not too impressed with the amenities but we spent very little time in the room so would not bother writing about it normally. Our first morning we went to have breakfast at the hotel and I think we paid nearly 150$ for 4 people and we just had standard breakfast and our kids 5 and 6 years old, had probably very little food anyway. Again, i would not worry about the $$ but I would have expected a better service for sure, the waiter was just unhappy and you could tell in each dealing we had with him. When I realized the next table (an older couple) who has been in the hotel for some days, they actually refused the service by our waiter and asked for someone else, then I really understood, it was not really us being picky. We had a great 3 day in NY with kids and Sheraton you tried to ruin it quite a bit but it was still a lot of fun. so you failed with that too I guess.

2022-06-23Remember to use ʜoᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏm when booking a hotel. This site will compare countless hotel sites and normally will have rates much cheaper than others! Youre welcome :)! This place is the best rated in this area. Ive been coming here for a long time. If you stay for a few nights you for sure wont be let down.Gorgeous hotel bang in the middle of where you want to be when visiting New York! The view from our room was stunning and you can see the heart of time square glowing. Everything is in easy enough walking distance with Central Park 10 minutes walk at the top of the street and 7th Ave straight in front as soon as you walk out the doors, anything else can be easily accessed from the subway which has an entrance right outside the hotel. The room was very nice with a HUGE comfy bed and en-suite bathroom. The lovely housekeeper would always give a smile and a wave every morning as we left and would tell us to have a lovely day.The only negative that I could really take away was the crazy prices for food if you wanted to eat there but we never did as we were out all day every day of the 5 we were there for. When we eventually get to go back to New York we’re 100% coming back here to stay as it was amazing and trust me when I tell you that you WILL want a lovely comfy hotel room to crash in after all the walking you’ll be doing (we averaged 10.3 miles per day). You might find cheaper hotels but none will be this convenient with location, be this nice and this comfy.

2022-05-02We stayed here for 4 days and I have almost no complaints. They we’re very accommodating. From early check-in & late check-out to the complementary fridge and microwave I was so happy with this hotel. The best part is the location. There’s a subway station on both sides of the hotel and it’s close to many restaurants and shops walking distance. I loved the shower and the view from our room. Room service was amazing. Breakfast was also amazing. I really don’t have anything bad to say except the room is a little smaller than most but it’s good enough for two ppl and honestly we we’re hardly there throughout the day.

2022-05-28I dont typically leave negative reviews but this was a very bad experience. Location was great, but everything else left so much to be desired — especially for a non-budget brand like Sheraton.A few simple things: elevator system was atrocious. The digital system leaves 5 cars empty while funneling hoards to the first two cars. Sheraton: you guys need to reprogram the system to allow all but two cars to service the first 25 floors. There was a 4inch gap between the floor and my room door. I could hear everything in the hallway, and Im sure anyone in the hallway could hear me. Zero privacy. I had a hard time sleeping the first night due to light coming in through the massive gap. The rest of the time I piled up towels to block the gap. Imagine how easy it would be to sneak a camera through the crack or even snake a wire to pick the lock. Security nightmare. The tub routinely filled with water — from the drain! Sewage would back up into the tub and it was impossible to shower in the filthy remains once it drained.I pushed an exterior door open only to be yelled at and harassed by an employee. Apparently he had just shut the automatically opening door down. I didnt notice the small sign among the crowds bustle of the lobby...but the employee seemed to be accusing me of something. It was very odd and I couldnt figure out why he was so bent out of shape. It takes all of 5 seconds to pull the door back onto the track. He kept asking for my name and room number...very very rude. Power tripping maybe? So odd. My apologized and offered to help fix the door but the guy would not let it go.I would not recommend this hotel for your stay in New York City. It seems like most of the people that are staying there are part of a large group either staying for business or performing at the Carnegie Hall or part of a theater group, very few families or individuals.

2022-06-01Housing keeping staff along with bar staff, door men were all great. Front desk did not communicate well between more than one person with heavy accents, plastic dividers it was difficult to understand the amenities. Even over the phone they were not clear. Maybe a paper or send a email with the specifics would help. They sure sent that email fast with the charges. Would stay there again though due to the warm welcome by the staff mentioned above. Ramon in bar and Gary at the door were awesome

2022-06-26In full transparency- our rooms were booked as part of a large group. The rooms are dated, clean and small as hell. They’re booking 4 adults in a dorm size room with a full size bed. It’s ridiculously small. The staff were all nice. Everything worked. The lighting was marginal as with a lot of hotel rooms. The WiFi worked fine.

2022-01-13Great looking hotel in the middle of Times Square. Very clean, rooms are spacious...the in room dining options could be much better. They charge $5 per item to hold in the reception...I checked out but my flight wasnt for another 2 hours so I wanted to grab food. Id definitely stay here again. Thanks!

2022-07-01Positive: Location and its cleanliness is the best thing i liked in this hotel. The subway station is accessible. Negative: The room is very small, there are 4 of us 2 adults 2 kids and we can barely move around. The room served its purpose just to rest for the night. We stayed for 5 nights with 2 big luggages and kids and anlittle bit more space would be better.

2022-05-29Noisy corridors. AC was off when I got to room. It was 77F and just 66F outside. After 4 hours its still warm in the room. Its a tiny room, shouldnt take that long to cool. Lights burned out in the room, no where for luggage. M Club is closed still, probably to save them money. No perks for Elite members. Small beds...like hobbit sized beds.
