Friendly staff and a great local business to support, great selection from bird feeders and food to top brand dog and cat food, we also buy our Christmas tree there every year! They also do a lot for our community and give a lot in donations to local organizations. No better place to support with my pet and wildlife needs.

I love Shirley Pet and Feed! The owners are knowledgable and helpful. They always seem busy and are fast paced, which shows me they run a good business. Ive been moving further away from buying my pet products online from very big internet shopping sites, and being more mindful of shopping at my communitys local small businesses. Im proud to be a community member that supports this business. I highly recommend Shirley Pet and Feed, prices are very good too!
They just arent experienced at all. They didnt know how to properly cut my dogs hair as well as give you an attitude. The staff in the back needs a reality check and to be replaced 🤷♀️
Theyve been around for a very very long time and have everything you can possibly need for your pets! But theyre prices are ridiculous! I bought a $20 bag of ferret food that was half AIR! They seriously need to lower their prices .i have a pic with me holding the side of the ferret food so you see how much air space there is ! Bags not even $20 worth😩😤
Awful, rude groomers that cant even perform a nail trimming. Literally asked me to come into the back area (during covid peak) to hold my dog because she was working alone and didnt even attempt to cut a single nail and gave up and sent me away. My dog was excited but she put in no effort at all and gave me a huge attitude. Ive never in my life had a groomer struggle to clip my dogs nails, bathe her, anything. Maybe it was a bad day for her but I havent been back since to even purchase dog food or treats from the store and will never go back.
People unfriendly prices way to high not enough inventory for birds
Staff is always helpful and very kind. Prices are average as far as major retailers and they are always well stocked and even have special cookies at the counter for your pup!

Every time I go they are helpful FRIENDLY and caring about questions I may have. My cat is an extremely finicky eater and one of the staff recommended a brand that is perfect. They may be a bit pricey but that is ok for the amazing service and neat and organized store. Shop mom and pop.
Ive been purchasing supplies for my hens the past 7/8 years. Love this place! The people are friendly and their wide assortment of feed for all kinds of animals is great. My hens live like queens but some other feed for the more common pets are pricier so be choosy and look at everything. Overall I am sure that youll be completely satisfied by this little of a gem shop.
Theyre very knowledgeable, have been helping me for the last 2 weeks fight a flea problem (stray cat brought them 😥). Everyone there is nice, will get to know you and your pets (whether the animal comes in with you or not). The groomers are amazing with my dog (they call him an easy groom, but I know he is NOT). Highly recommend, especially if youre looking to get good advice about certain products during your visit. Theyre always willing to help.Also, I bought a sweater for my cat yesterday and he wouldnt sit still for a picture or I wouldve included it lol

I love Shirley Feed! Their staff is knowledgeable and very helpful. I needed help getting large items onto the cart and into my car, the men were polite & professional and assisted me without having to wait.Walter is the go to guy for suggestions on animal related items and can tell you the difference between one brand and another without making you feel like hes a salesman for a particular company. He may suggest a brand, but will usually offer a sample (if available) for your pet to try first.Shirley Feed has items you need from household animals to farm animals...no need to go anywhere else!

I have gone to this store multiple times to cut my dogs hair. I saved my dog from a family who use to abuse and neglect my dog and my dog means the world to me. Today I told my family to go into the store and to get my dog groomed. I never in my life expected one of the workers there to attack my family and accuse me and my family of neglecting my dog. I am BEWILDERED. I have taken care of my dog since the day that I got him and have taken him to this store multiple times to get cut. Not only does this store change the pricing every single time we visit but they also clearly love to attack the very customers that go there all the time. UNBELIEVABLE. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO ADD !! That the whole thing started because we asked why the price changed from 100 to 150 after telling us the first time that the price to cut my dogs hair would be 100 dollars and instead of kindly telling us the reason behind their actions , they simply started to SCREAM and ATTACK my family and ACCUSE us of not being good dog owners. DISGUSTING!!!! I will never go into this store ever again.
The owners - son - grandson are always on duty or near by at your service.The place is phenomenal they have any item for pets that you can think of if not they will get it for you. John is beyond awesome he is so helpful kind and sincere. The staff is top notch Mike,Pete,Samantha and everyone else are always going beyond your needs and expectations.I live three towns away and will shop there no matter what they are the best in the business if you love your animals like family then Shirley Feed is the place to shop. The prices are competitive and most always better than the competitors.

Very good prices even when compared to the internet. They have a tremendous selection of dog and cat foods. The staff is extremely helpful also. I have a dog with chicken allergies and the staff was able to recommend a great selection of food that had zero chicken additives for my furry friend. Definitely the place to go to get supplies for your pets.
Decently priced, very clean aisles made it easy to find what you were looking for, and there usually arent any lines so its always a speedy checkout. I bought food for my guinea pig and I didnt even spend 2 minutes in the store because it was just that easy. Id recommend this store to anyone who has a pet!

I really enjoy this store it has a HUGE selection for just about all sorts of pets. They have decent prices, they sell food in bulk which is always helpful (they even have a carry out service, when requested) their staff is knowledgeable and friendly. The store is super clean and well organized. Im yet to use them for this but they do have a grooming service in house as well

I always get my chicken food here...only thing that makes me crazy is that it is the furthest thing from the front door I have to carry that 50 lbs bag all the way across the entire huge store!everyone is very nice and the prices are reasonable.
Extremely knowledgeable staff and Incredibly helpful. They offer a wide variety of brands and they also have grooming services. Along with that you can buy many accessories for your pets including flea as well as vitamins and supplements. They offer a large selection of dental care products as well as almost anything you can need for your pet. They are really wonderful unfortunately I have moved from New York and will not be able to shop there anymore I have yet to find a place in North Carolina that is as great as this one. I highly recommend them for all of your pet needs. They also have a garden center. As well as being able to purchase propane for your barbecue or gas fire pit. Wonderful place wonderful staff do yourself a favor and make the trip if youre not local.

I frequent Shirley feed on a regular basis they always have what I need for my pets. The staff is knowledgeable and very helpful. My only issue is the parking lot. its very tiny and sometimes its difficult to get in and out of.
We were able to find a pet carrier for our conure 🦜. Petco didnt have any in stock.Hope this helps anyone whos looking for one.
Its great to have a place so close to buy pet food and equipment. They have plenty of pet food and a big variety of cat & dog food. Also this place is called Shirley Feed for a reason, they dont sell pets here. ONLY food and equipment. Its a great place to go to though.
First time here! Absolutely amazing! They have everything for horses, dogs, cats, chickens, domestic and wild birds, rabbits, you make it! Staff was extremely helpful. The check out line was long, so the gentleman grabbed my bag of horse feed and brought it up to the counter so I didn’t have to drive around. A++ service!
Went to buy straw, called it hay. Was ridiculed by the cashier to my face as well as over the phone to another customer who he said to, oh. Nothing, dealing with ignorant people. Will never come back here again
Theyve got it all, the hay, shavings, and grain I buy for my horse are the best price and quality Ive found out here on the Island. Unbelievable variety of cat stuff too. Very kind, caring staff as well.
I took my dogs to Terry for about 2 years but her worker Jackie was rude to me with regard to an appointment, and now I would never go there again. A shame to loose customers that way
Been going there for two or three years now. When I first adopted my dog they helped me pick out the best (and affordable) dog food for him. They always give him free treats and treat him like a king.
Not so happy with some aspects of the store. Most items very expensive and while the cashiers are nice the owner himself always seems to be ticked off about something. They do have a large selection and the store is very clean on the upside, and they do have many items for many different animals. There kind of the only game in town. Hence the attitude I suppose

This place literally has everything under the sun when it comes to animal products any animal, farm or domesticated. They stock food & toys etc. Not much when it comes to fish products they have some stuff for but no much. The store is clean staff is clean and the staff are helpful and friendly. They even have grooming services.
Customer service is the best! They go above and beyond to answer all your questions regarding your pets food and care. The store is clean with lots of quality food and products at reasonable prices. I highly recommend Shirley feed & Farm! I am now a forever customer!
For the reviews that say they are kind... I wonder are you friends with the workers? I have and still been going to this store weekly. The 2 woman always look tired and drained and yes if you catch them on a bad day and ask them a question, ATTITUDE. Now I’m used to it so it dosnt bother me as much. They do have their moments of being kind but even that is bland. Again all depends on the day. Thankfully I don’t go there for customer service I go there because their selection is WONDERFUL better than petco in my opinion. They are expensive so don’t look for sales. Their parking lot sucks. All in all I still shop there

Went here for a while, got the trees here at Christmas, flowers on mothers day and that sort of thing. That is until I had a run in with the owner apparently whos a complete asshat.I happened to be in getting dog food when I saw they had chicks. At the time I had a python who had stopped eating and a friend suggested switching up the diet so I looked for an employee and apparently found what turned out to be the owner.First I asked if he worked there because he was plain dressed and he gives me a sarcastic yeah like I should have known that. I shrug it off and tell him Im looking at the chicks and was curious how much one was. He gives me an attitude like Im wasting his time and says, you cant buy just one.Doesnt say that anywhere, but Im alright buying a few if the price is right but now Im starting to lose patience. I start explaining, well I dont need many, what would a few- and he literally rolls his eyes and storms off through a stock door to the back. I really cant believe it just happened, so I grab my bag and head to the registers thinking it was just a disgruntled employee. Girl at the register tells me hes the owner.I told her not to worry about the dog food, walked out and havent been back since. That was three years ago and Ive been very happy going to his competition. Supporting small buisnesses is great but when the owner acts like this maybe its better just to let them go.

I purchased 6 cans of dog food from them that were recalled in April of last year and they still have it on their shelves and selling it. Cocolicious... I matched the lot number with the recall list and they are selling this to pet parents. I will not shop here ever again!
Wild Delight Cardinal Food 7 lbs $14.99 vs Stop & Shop $11.99. Wife then checked her two bags of dog food and found the same pricing differences. A high volume feed store should be more competitive than a food store that does LOW volume in pet supplies. No more special trips, no more wasted gas.

Do not buy from this company. I usually support local small businesses and dont mind paying a little extra to support the little guy. But DO NOT shop here. The business owner, John, is EXTREMELY rude and condscending. I went to return a dog pen that I bought less than a month ago, and had only taken out of the box (all the accessories were wrapped). Not only did he deny the request for a return (which I said Id take a store credit). The owner, John literally mocked me. he said that it was over a month (it was less than 3 weeks). He belittled me and said that you ACTUALLY expect me to take this back and went on nearly harrassing me for 10 minutes in front of other customers. This man is rude and acts like a know it all, when in fact, he cant even count. I would have been fine if he had just said sorry, our policy says we cant accept back any opened items, but to mock and and belittle a customer for asking to return an item in perfect condition is insane. I will never use that company again, and advise no one else does too.

We tried thier grooming services for the 1st time today. They were professional and handled our Golden with complete respect and care. They provided guidance with grooming techniques to do on a daily basis. Our Miss Charlotte enjoyed her day at the spa and looks beautiful.

Definitely had everything i was shopping for! But the man with the sleeve tattoo. I walked in asked a question about formular for kittens i just rescued. He looked at me and then my STONEWALL NYC LGBTshirt and his whole face and attitude changed. He was barking out and being short with answering to my quetion. I walked to where he said and continue to yell( Left !over! down!) I found what i needed. Returned to pay. A lady yelled from behind me asking him a question and he was nice as pie with a smile when he answered. He could barely give me my change make eye contact nor did i get a have a nice day or receipt. I deal with people with intellectual disabilities all day im a people person. This man definitely had an issue with LGBT. His face words action spoke volumes. I wasent looking for any special treatment... just the same respected as the other lady got who wasent wearing a LGBT shirt.

Shirley feed is a rare spot! I am born and raised mastic/Shirley and this place comes to mind when you speak of the area.It has everything you could need from collars, harness that include nylon, leather, cheap and pricey to pig ears, kibble and now even raw food. There is rows and rows of dog and cat food. So much more variety than youll find elsewhere. Toys galore for your pet to choose from.I cant say enough just that I wish I still lived in the area to frequent it more.

2022-02-08I love this store. We have two exotic birds and were able to source our pellets here. Great for pet-safe salt in the winter time. We also get our wild bird food (for outside birds) there! Its a one stop shop with a wide selection and great parking. We also got our gorgeous Christmas tree here!

2022-04-16Stick with pet food, don’t waste your time having topsoil or mulch delivered. Communication is horrible and owner said he’s busy and this happens all the time there.. what an answer as an owner

2022-02-01They are always stocked with plenty of pet food. There seemed to be a shortage of cat food and they had plenty. The people who work there are friendly and very helpful.
