Paid for socially distanced seating, an extra 30 dollars one way for my group. Driver said he didn’t care, made us all shove together. Others were treated the same way. Rude driver. September 17, 2021. Bus number 81408 from Port Authority NYC to Ithaca NY. Have ridden this bus many times since the service started, never had this much trouble or had a driver be so dismissive considering we paid extra to keep ourselves safe. Don’t charge for social distancing if you aren’t going to honor it. Booking through Megabus has hurt this service.

Absolutely despicable customer service, especially so during a pandemic. I was able to purchase a bus ticket from Ithaca to JFK airport where Im supposed to be catching a flight to Europe in a few days, and while calling to ask if I needed to print my bus ticket, I was told that no buses are running up until June 15th. I told the guy on the phone that I had bought a ticket and nothing on the shortline webpage suggested that buses werent currently running, but he rudely insisted that it wasnt his problem, after which he hung up. Shortline was my last travel option in order to get back home to Europe, and they didnt even bother notifying me that buses are canceled or unavailable. Their customer service has always been rude and disrespectful, but this was truly the cherry on the cake. Also, their buses are filthy and smell like a dusty basement. Horrible company.

The bus drivers on a recent round trip were late and exhibited rude and unprofessional behavior when asked simple questions from passengers. Additionally, the return driver decided to take an alternate route without notifying the passengers making people late, and many late for work and other important appointments. I suggest no one ever use this bus company unless you want to be very late, and disrespected by awful slow drivers.

This is absolutely the worst service Ive ever come across. The ticketing agents and the drivers are extreeemely disrespectful and they shout angrily at every customer whatever the situation is. I have taken the ITH-NYC route multiple times, and for twice all the passengers were driven out of the carriage and forced to board another bus--the company just want to cut costs. And when the driver found a nanny was too slow to remove her own luggage from the first bus to the second one, rather than helping her, he pointed at her rudely and said, you better hurry! I believe no one has ever had a pleasant journey with this company, and the only reason they are still operating the route is that they face few competition.

Avoid at all possible costs.Every driver or employee I have ever encountered from this company has been unpleasant, but the reason Im writing this review is because of my most recent trip, where I had bought a round trip ticket from Ithaca to NYC. It was an e-ticket I printed out and when handing it to the driver in Ithaca, I asked him whether or not I would be receiving the actual tickets from him but he refused to even respond and instead just kept yelling at everyone to get on the bus. I thought that I would receive the tickets later but each time he would still refuse to respond, and when arriving at NYC only rushed everyone off the bus.On the return trip I thought that maybe I could just print out the e-ticket again and show the workers at the booth that I purchased a round trip, but when I showed the man at the window, he blew up on me, angrily telling me that this was a round trip that I was supposed to redeem at Ithaca, and that even though its a round trip he cant do anything about it since it was NYC. Although this seemed incredibly unreasonable already, I tried calmly explaining my situation with the first bus driver, but his ears seemed blocked to anything I had to say and would only say that this isnt my responsibility and sent me upstairs to the dispatch. When asking the dispatch about the situation, he too became angry, saying that I was supposed to go discuss this at the ticketing booth....that I just came from. I told him that they sent me up and so he dialed, but whoever was on the line kept denying that he sent us up.In the end, things never got figured out and I just had to buy a new ticket. Not only was every employee completely disrespectful, they had no sense of responsibility or professionality. It seems to me that not only the employees, but the entire company has some major issues that will never be fixed and the only reason they are still operating is because the lack of competition serving certain areas.Do everyone a favor and take ANY other alternative so that maybe this company will one day be cleaned from this planet. Thanks.

Expect a dirty terminal thats not open late in the evenings, rude and dismissive service, poor or non-existent signage, and drivers who do not even pretend to give a hoot about you and your trip. They may pretend not to speak English or just flat ignore you. If you show any sign of distress or displeasure it gets much worse. The posted schedules will almost certainly be incomplete and difficult to read, the buses may or may not be running when the weather is iffy and rarely will you find out ahead of time. If you have a problem or ask for help expect to be berated, blamed, ignored, or insulted. The benches and floors will be sticky. There will be trash on the bus. Unless you are going to New York City you will need to transfer two or three or four times and take your chances that all the connections are made. The website is barely serviceable and makes it almost impossible to plan a trip or buy online. Forget mobile-friendly. You are on your own. Memorize your trip details and plan accordingly. The outlets and wifi on the bus likely will not work. There may or may not be a terrible stench from the toilet, a drunk person in the aisle, a driver smoking cigarettes on the night run, or any heat at all.Eventually you may get used to it. Miraculously, inexplicably, you will somehow end up with the right ticket and on the right bus once in a while, and arrive very grateful to not be stuck somewhere cold and forbidding and alone overnight. If you practice grovelling and begging for assistance, you may find that some of the employees grudgingly point you in roughly the right direction, when they actually know enough to be helpful.Truly one of the last great miserable american experiences, untouched by time or technology, unapologetic and true to itself.Youre either on the bus, or off the bus.

Ive traveled in bus in different countries and I have never encounter a worse service that this one. They are disorganized, the people who work for them are not aware of the buses schedules and they treat you badly. In my particular case, they told me and some other people that the last bus was departing at 11:30pm, when in reality it left at 11:00pm. Me and other bunch of people had to sleep in a bus terminal because of their fault. When we made the claim, they argued it wasnt their fault in a very disrespectful manner. Besides, the buses are very uncomfortable and awfully cold.Summing up...although the price is low, I sincerely recommend that you seek for other alternatives.

Sitting in Binghamton at a mechanic trying to fix some undisclosed problem with the bus we’re on, I’m reminded yet again that that maybe 1 of every 10 trips I take on Short Line goes smoothly without some sort of delay, unexpected extra stops, or attitude from drivers and ticket vendors. I continue to suffer this wildly unpleasant experience so often only because they offer a convenient schedule with a lot of different timing options.

The bus drivers vary, some are good, others yell and argue with passengers. Like youre making me hold up traffic cause of your suitcases like people take the bus to airport or train, why are you blaming them? But the women at the terminal are awful! Constantly misinforming passengers, and even closing over an hour early! Because they want to go home. Or their god awful holiday schedules that I had to miss work over! You people are public transportation! Why on earth would you make it so difficult for people that have to depend on you? Better off buying a bike or just walking everywhere rather than having to wait another two hours in the rain for a bus that never showed up, again.

Traveled between NYC and ithaca for at least 6 times now (total 12 or more rides), only two rides arrived on time. Dont know why it could cause so much delay each time. It is really uncomfortable to sit in the bus for 6 or even more hours because the bus sometimes were just waiting in Binghamton or other stops for extremely long time. Wont recommend shortline services, will take Platinum, c2c, Greyhound, or Ourbus to NYC from now on.
