Sinbads in other cities:
The spread I had was nothing short of beautiful. A pita with greens beans, mushrooms, salad, tomatoes, chicken, and steak. In addition to this I had a wonderful fruit salad. The waitress was really kind and even the boss came over and asked us how our meals were taking our finished plates in the process. I highly recommend this place. I have been three times this year so far.
I tell everyone that visits to come to Sinbads! A staple for my family. My first visit was 14 years ago and I have so many great memories over delicious toasted chicken pitas! They have been consistent with quality, taste and value for price as long as I’ve been a customer. Lentil soup, gyro dishes, pitas and hummus are all absolutely delicious and so fresh.
This restaurant definitely brought the Lebanese experience to Rochester. The music, ambience, food smell/taste and spices; but not only that, the generosity lebanese are known for! The plates are super big. You will have definitely something to go.We had the malfouf, which is one of the appetizers, which definitely is enough to be a main course, and its for like 8$. On top, it was Very tasty. As main courses we had the machawi and the sfiha both are exxellent. The machawi might be a bit greasy, but overall fine.As complementary next to the main dishes we had the tabbouleh and the sinbad salad. I would recommend to tabbouleh ober the sinbad salad.Overall very good
This is the best middle eastern food Ive had - regular customer for 25 years, I have eaten in New York City, Dubai and other parts of the world, but this is still the best restaurant for this type of food. It is also consistently good. I have never had a bad meal and the owners/staff are very friendly and helpful. You can also sit outside now, plenty of space for outdoor dining. Highly recommended. A+
Whenever my fiance and I come back to New York to visit my family, we always try to make some time to go to Sinbads at least once. We are blown away each time by the warm hospitality and the phenomenal food. If you are new to the area, just passing through, or are looking for a new place to check out I highly recommend Sinbads. Id start listing off the items to try but Id be posting the whole menu. You cannot go wrong with anything they offer. Five stars and Ill definitely be back!
I might say that food mostly meet the standard of Mediterranean food but could be improve some plates such as the lentil soup and the folks . Lentils grains were hard and potato uncooked. Dolmas need a to be firmly wrapped so do not fall apart on the way to your mouth. In general place is cozy and clean. Staff is just fine not very attentive neither rude.
This is not a Halal restaurant as advertised on googleThe only halal option they have is the lamb chops which was goodThe service not the best they get some dishes others were so late so we canceled itThe waitress got us the check in the middle of eating and the place was not busy at all to do this nonprofessional thing
We were headed to the airport on our way back from visiting my brother in a city close by. We wanted to grab something to eat that was delicious but also a quick grab-and-go. The service was great— from the staff to the gentleman that I assume is the owner. The pitas we got were amazing!! Endless flavor! The sauces were mouthwatering. I got the eggplant pita and added chicken— it was so good! Highly recommend!! We got four different pitas and they were all incredible! I’m sad I don’t have a location where I live because I would be a regular customer! Wish I could give more stars!! Wish you endless success!
We ate outside on front patio this time, lovely day, food here is fresh and delicious, havent had a bad meal yet! Quantity is usually more than I can finish, but this time I was extra hungry. Staff is refreshingly attentive, and being a smaller place, always around. A++
We had a great time at Sinbads even sitting outside on a chilly day it was more than enjoyable service. The food was pretty good. I had the falafel kebab and lentil soup. They were kind enough to offer a substitute vegan sauce for the yogurt dressing they had. I would come back for a quick casual lunch but this is not somewhere I would be dying to go back to for the food. Not saying its bad but its not oh my god this was amazing I need to come back good. Location is also very nice, right on Park Ave.
Food is great. But the parking situation is horrible. If you are not from Rochester, avoid this place just for the parking situation. The restaurant has parking behind their building but do not explicitly mention or direct customers to those spots. The street parking is highly tricky. You have to read very small signs placed far apart for clear instructions and sometimes you have to change spots after 7 pm even if you are in the middle of your dinner. In summary, not worth so much effort to get a peaceful meal. There are many amazing places in the suburbs
This centrally located Greek restaurant is a good lunch spot. Started out with the kebbe and falaffel. Kebbe is a seared puck of ground beef with tomato, pita bread, and a side of hummus. The beef was flavorful with a hint cinnamon/nutmeg which was reminiscent of the holidays. Very flavorful and savory. The falafel was crispy and not greasy, crunchy on the outside yet tend on the inside; not dense at all. The demeh pita is a toasted pita rolled like a burrito with ground beef with similar spices to the kebbe. Crunchy, savory, and creamy. I advise if eating this like a burrito, eat it over your plate to avoid any filling dropping on your shirt. Only complaint was the seasonal fresh blended drink. Had a lot of pulp, I mean A LOT. Tastes like pineapple, banana, and melon. Think it would have been better without the melon but overall, was not a fan. Up side, the food was very flavorful and the prices were reasonable.
We waited, and waited, and watched tables seated after us receive water and have orders taken before we flagged a server down to politely ask if we had a server. Turns out, that server was ours. We then waited for water, waited to order, and waited for our incomplete order before our complete order arrived. We enjoyed the 3/4 plates. Gyros plate is a salad with gyros on top, Shish plate is a salad with 3 pieces of tenderloin, not what we expected. Owner approached every table except ours. This is our 3rd visit to Rochester, Sinbad’s is always crowded and we were looking forward to finally stopping in with our daughter at one of her favorite restaurants. Sadly, we left very disappointed.
It was def a three star experience last night when I went, but I’m sure it could be better on a less busy night? But couldn’t get a table outside (which is understandable) but then it took a little over an hour to get food. We ordered appetizer falafels which came out with the meals, and they were cold (cold falafels are sad) the meals were good, but the ratios just seemed a bit off and weren’t exactly what we expected. Overall, ok, but probably won’t be going back super soon.
Fresh, delicious food. Great servers. Have eaten outside during the warmer months and always had a salad. Good... This time I had the Mashawi which came with a side salad where I did the Sinbad, it was more than I could finish, and phenomenal!!! Will definitely order that again!
While I was impressed with the food. Not very impressed with the way the owner of the restaurant behaved while we were dining. Either stick to the time that you have set or dont take in customers. It was annoying that while we were enjoying our dinner the owner was howering around our table just to see if we had finished our food. Which made us uncomfortable. We were there to enjoy a nice dinner with friends , not to be constantly watched by someone so that they could leave early. Annoying.
Ive always appreciated Sinbads for their delicious and authentic eastern Mediterranean food. Their dining situation is handled well during the pandemic. Outdoor tables are spaced well apart and all staff are wearing masks properly. I enjoyed my lunch today and was grateful for their attention to safety.
Gave me the wrong order of salad the waitress insisted the salad was indeed correct and touched my food with her hands without gloves . The waitress never apologized and never asked if I wanted a new order . Allandins on Monroe ave has better customer service and better food and prices . I will never go back to Sinbads on park ave Rochester NY .
Best Mediterranean Food in town! We shared the roasted eggplant appetizer, and roasted chicken and vegetables in a crispy pita, and they were so fresh and fantastic. My date had the basil pasta with artichokes and a Mediterranean combo of veggies in a garlic basil oil, which he loved. I got the typical roasted chicken kebab with some feta, tomatoes, roasted onions and tahini, again amazing. Service was great, and great last night outside dining in Rochester before the cold weather. Gotta go there!
Weve been in Rochester for as long as Sinbads has been open but this was the first time we visited Sinbads. What a huge mistake that we never tried this before. The entire family loved the food and especially the deserts - they were ideal perfect size and so full of intense flavor. This is a treasure on Park Ave that we will be enjoying in future summers as we walk along in Park Ave Festivals. The prices were also a great deal!
My husband and I had an amazing meal at Sinbad’s! The appetizers were the perfect start to our meal followed by a delicious entree with a salad. Loved every bite and probably ate more than I should!!! Huge portions, superb food! The chef was amazing and the wait staff (Christina and Rachel) were friendly and had great recommendations! We will be back!
Fantastic food! This is one of my top restaurants to visit when I return to Rochester. Outdoor seating is great in the summer, staff is friendly, and prices are decent. They got my order wrong when I visited last time, so I had to remind the waiter twice they got it wrong, but otherwise I still love this place. They can sometimes be a little pushy on desserts. If youre in town this is a must visit.
An early dinner on a cold and dreary afternoon was no disappointment. Tasty, ample portions of steaming soup, hummus, pita, and a delicious beet salad were just the thing! My friends gyro pita was excellent: delicious, fresh, well-prepared (ie easy to pick up with little effort or mess), and lots of meat. The service was fast and friendly. I liked the atmosphere: not fancy, but snug and dimly lit. There werent many people there at 5 p.m., so we had our pick of tables. I highly recommend Sinbads if you like fresh, tasty, authentic Mediterranean food.
Very pleasant spot, especially the outdoor seating in warm weather. The food is always excellent and the prices below reasonable. The problem is that the Lezeza pitza is so good I have to force myself to try other things on the menu. This is not a complaint!Indoor cleanliness is just OK, which is the reason for the four stars.
I absolutely love this place! It’s one of my favorite restaurants in Rochester. We come here every now and then, and the staff are super friendly with amazing service. Sure, it can be a little hot inside during the winter and summer months, but overall the experience was great, and very high quality food for an affordable price. I definitely recommend coming here if your visiting Rochester!
We absolutely LOVE this restaurant. We no longer live in Rochester, but Sinbads is still our all time favorite place to eat. The food is amazing. Weve ordered everything on the menu over the years and there is only one item that we didnt really care for. The owner is very friendly. The wait staff is attentive. We enjoyed this restaurant so much that we recently drove one thousand miles to Rochester and our first stop was Sinbads. If you enjoy Mediterranean cuisine, youll love Sinbads. Its located on Park Ave. Parking is down the alley behind the restaurant.
Sinbads has the most diverse Mediterranean menu that Ive ever seen. They have all the usual dishes, plus they have many dishes I have never heard of. I tried the Kafta plate and it was we got a sampler with the hummus and some other appetizer type things and that was excellent as well. All the dishes for tasty and huge portions. If youre looking for something different in Mediterranean food or just the the favorites, this is the place to go.
Absolutely fantastic! The food was incredible and friendly service. I came in right after they opened and made a to go order. Even though they just opened I received my food quickly and it was delicious! I ordered a gyro pita and dolma appetizer. Both were absolutely delicious. I was surprised by the depth of flavor in the dolma. I will definitely be going back.
Decent mediterranean. Eggplant pita is really good. The shish kabob threw me off though as it was more like a stuffed burrito when I was expecting something on a skewer. Took a star off for mushrooms in the veggie chili. Just one thing I would never put in a chili. But thats just my own personal taste.
This was our first visit to Sinbads. A hidden gem on Park Ave.!! Lovely outdoor seating. Sinbads has a family feel; the owner (I assume) greeted many people by name, asking the about their family, etc.The meal was superb! The herb seasoning on the cornish hen and my steak and chicken was out of this world! Both dishes were extremely fresh and seasoned to perfection. The garlic aioli was the perfect addition. The portion size was extremely generous for the reasonable price. We each took half of our meal home with us. We will definitely be back!!Update: Still just a delicious! We have been there several times and highly recommend it to friends! We like it so much that we received a gift certificate from Sinbads from a friend. Cant wait to go back.
The lamb dish, Fatteh, is phenomenal, and like most of the signature dishes comes with your choice of salad, and theres like 8 to choose from. My favorite is the Schmandar, with beets and Dijon and candied walnuts- YUM!! The pasta dishes are also delicious. All of the food has generous portions- you definitely wont leave hungry and might even have a to-go box. Theres outdoor patio seating in the nice weather. The prices are good for the quality of and amount of what you get. They have a decent beer and wine selection and a lot of non-alcoholic beverages as well. The only drawback is parking can be tough but persevere because its worth it!
Great food, reasonably priced. Attentive service. (Ryan, nice job!) A great menu with lots of choices. Started out with hummus and pita, of course, so good! I had pasta with shrimp and artichokes, my friend had a gyro. All delicious and perfectly done. Dont skip dessert!
My husband got DePolo and thats always great, however I ordered chicken kabob and I got chicken thighs wrapped in pita bread. Was not so great, in fact not good, no flavor and tough meat.It was a slow Wednesday evening and the seating was... Limited. They would not seat any two people at a four top table. So several couples left. I wish we did.
The food quality is inconsistent, we had a few disappointments, the meat in Mashawi dish looked like was taken out of freezer and put on the grill, very bad smell.Other area of improvement:1- Then need to plan a better social distancing. The tables are close to each other and the owner is still trying to pack the place.2- please change your menus. They are disgusting full of stuff and germs on them. Without of COVID you need to wash your hand after touching these menus. Please this is covid time please use QR Code.
This was my first time ordering- my neighbors rave about Sinbads! I was NOT disappointed! Imad was very nice on the phone& the food was delicious. The hummus & pita bread are the best I’ve had! The food is filling, tasty, with generous portions, &reasonably priced. I will be back!!! Thank you for being open during the COVID-19 pandemic and providing a wonderful meal for my family!
Great food and great service!! Had the lentil soup and baba ganoush appetizer, both were phenomenal!! Their pitzas are also great! They were also really accommodating with my requests for my dietary restrictions! Just be aware that when you walk in at first all you see is curtains. Dont be confused, youre in the right place, just walk through them. Once inside its a nice cozy atmosphere!
Usually love it and the waitresses are nice, but due to the owner will never have my or any friends business again. Been charged different prices for the same meal every time. The last time I went there for pick up I was charged over $17 for the greek chicken salad, when the last time I was charged $15 for the same exact thing, and only charged $13-14 when I sit and eat there. Makes no sense. When the owner talked to me he was rude and argued with me and says Do you realize what we put in our dressing (which is basic as hell) and that every other place in the world does it (which it doesnt). I was being charged for having extra dressing, which should be free and is free when you sit and eat there, but get charged different prices every time I order for pick up. Will never eat or order food again. Owner is ill mannered and doesnt care about people or apparently losing business.
The inside is very compact and low key. our server was so sweet, and the food was perfection. The combo platter is a yummy and healthy appetizer for 4. and you cant go wrong with the pitas!! gyro pita toasted had the best lamb inside and was just enough to leave me satisfied. also the servings are huge! youll definitely have left overs. they also have DELICIOUS baklava for the end!
I absolutely love the food here but sadly wont be able to go back until the pandemic is over. I went in for takeaway and the man at the door and the man behind the counter werent wearing masks or six feet away from me; also I couldnt pay by phone. It behavior indicated a disregard for public health protocols that I cant tolerate because I care for my 88 year old mother. And lets face it, Im no youngster myself! Sayonara, Sinbads.
Sinbads is a staple of eating out for this Rochester resident. Their food is astonishingly consistent and delicious—I’ve ordered a couple times since quarantine started and seen no change in quality. Their beverage lineup pairs suitably with their crowd-pleasing pita wraps and “pitzas,” but the real stars of the show are the salads and combo plate, which bring together lemon herb dressings, fresh greens, delicious, smooth hummus, and fine herbs. If you’re looking for something a little more indulgent, try the Farrouj plate—you won’t be disappointed. A favorite casual restaurant, and when we get back to normal—great ambiance!
In town visiting our son. He said we would love this restaurant. I’m so glad we were able to have dinner in this place. The food was delicious, large portions for a fair price. Service was fun and friendly. We will return when we visit again. One place I’d give more than 5 stars if I could.
I have to say, Vanessa did a really good job accommodating us. It was our first time there, and my boyfriend is very allergic to nuts, so not knowing this place has a menu made of mostly nuts she was able to help us along. When Vanessa accidentally messed up my boyfriends order she immediately fixed it and then at the end of our lunch she made a fruit salad for him as an apology. I think she did an amazing job and showed great service recovery and I hope she gets great praise for her customer service regularly. I will definitely come back again.
I went to Sinbads with a party of seven and it was miserable. The service was bad, the owner was arguing with the waitress and we overheard the whole incident. We ordered a Greek Salad and it was basically a few pieces of lettuce on a plate with some Feta Cheese for $7.95. I have never complained at any restaurant but I thought this order was a mistake, It was 50 cents of lettuce on a plate. The owner came to our table and was arguing with me that this is a Greek Salad like he was insulted. Well Lettuce on plate is not a Greek Salad, do not go here.
Great food, we got a Pitza that was really good. This is my first time want here in like 5 years and its as good as I remember it being. Decent service, the waiter was really nice, but a tad slow dealing with the check. Will definitely go back soon to try more of the menu.
Sinbad’s is one of the worst places to come for dinner. They’ve disappointed me, and they’re very unprofessional in their business. I check the place, and it was open. I came from 10 miles away. They told me they’re overwhelmed and less staffing. If that’s the case, why would you Said closed or something?
If you want Mediterranean food in Rochester, GO TO ALADDINS!!! Everything at Sinbads tasted premade and certainly not fresh. For example, the dressing on the salad I got tasted like it came from a grocery store condiment aisle and the hummus tasted like slightly-better sabra. I really wanted to like the food but it was just mediocre. The chicken on my salad, however, was delicious. The bathroom was also kind of gross, with dish soap instead of hand soap in the dispenser. All in all, Aladdins has better prices, better portions, and all around better food.
I been there a long time and remember some of these reviews but most important a clean bathroom tell you about the kitchen so Aladdins your not exempted. And please don’t be cheap to your customers especially for take outs if they want something extra like pita bread give it to them don’t charge them you wouldn’t if they were dinning in.
Ive never had better Lebanese food, and I lived in Ottawa (whose national dish is chicken shawarma) for years. This place ticks all the boxes:Friendly neighborhood vibeExcellent serviceGood selection of wines and beers, including one Lebanese beer and two Lebanese red winesGreat saladsDelicious grilled meats.Several very large steps above even good ordinary Lebanese restaurants.
Absolutely delicious Middle Eastern food. My Lebanese-Syrian friend (not a typical combination, but it worked for his grandparents) brought some of us here, because he knew they did it right. I trust he knows what hes talking about, but Im dead certain Ive always loved every bite. The place is casual and comfortable, the service friendly and reliable. Theres never been an off note.
The entire meal was awful. The app was very salty and bitter. Hubbys pasta dish was overloaded with herbs and swimming in oil. Each forkful had oil dripping off the pasta and my pizza was just ok.. the charbroiled chicken was overcooked and actually tough. We didnt have one good item... not sure if we will be back.. maybe a new cook?
My wife and I love Sinbads they have fresh squeezed lemon juice thats amazing in an Arnold Palmer. They have great vegetarian and meat options that are all relatively on the healthy side. The prices are very good and they do takeout as well. Service and cleanliness has always been good in our experience. Outdoor seating is nice though the bees can bother you sometimes and its very warm inside during the winter. Small parking lot in the back which is always a bonus for Rochester. Both mens and womens rooms are one person
Lovely place with amazing food, great staff, and a very friendly owner. Great place to eat alone, as a pair, or with a group. Definitely recommend the Farrouj (Cornish hen), its a great dish to share between two people. Also a big fan of the Sfiha and the tabouli. All in all, probably my favourite restaurant in Rochester!
The food is fairly authentic. Although Sinbads cooking staff must have changed. The food was much better about 12 years ago!! Unfortunately, there really arent any other good Mediterranean restaurants in Rochester. So, Sinbads is a special treat once in a while for me! The parking is impossible. Good food....Halal. mashallah
Cozy atmosphere... gas fireplace and soft Mediterranean music. Seated immediately, with great service! This is my husbands favorite restaurant... always the freshest food perfectly cooked. The pitzas are creative and delicious... and the mashawi is always a winner. 10/10 From me!!
I dont know why it took me so long to find out about Sinbads but i wish I had known sooner. The food is fantastic and there is a variety of menu items and options. Came here with a friend who has a number of dietary restrictions and they are readily able to accommodate.
The worst service ever, we ordered few dishes and sat outside, it was crowded a bit and the owner helped to get a table, after less than 20 min. The lady cane with the bill, and took the dishes from the table without even asking if we were done, we were still eating but i guess they wanted to have space for another customer but did that in the most rude way way, they practically kicked us before we finish our foodNever coming back again
This was one of my favorite restaurants. But after my experience yesterday 01/25/2020, myself nor ANY of my family will be returning. I always order the same thing. Maza and Gaunbari for appetizers and Gaunbari pizza for my entrée. The Gaunbari had a whole string of hair in it. Told the young waiter boy. He grabbed it and walked away. Didnt say a word. All three of us ordered the gaunbari pizza. My sister had a light brown long piece of hair in hers. He did the same thing to her. Grabbed it and walked away. Didnt apologize, didnt say I will make you another. Nothing! So I got up and went over to the counter and spoked with him calmly. He said he was trying to call the owner but this wasnt communicated at all nor did the owner answer. I then told him to just bring us our checks. My sisters and I nor anyone else in my family will be returning to this establishment. Its been a long time since someone has made the color of my skin determine the level of service that is given to me. Zero stars!
For our appetizer, we had the SFIHA: ground beef, tomatoes, onions, pine nuts, and cheddar cheese toasted in pita. It was difficult to share because the ground beef was wrapped inside the pita. And cutting it in half was quite messy. It could have been a dish for 1 instead of an appetizer to share. I found it a little dry.We enjoyed the OASIS Pitza: Garlic sauce as a base with artichoke hearts, mushrooms, tomatoes, cheddar cheese, and parsley. It was very good. This one was cut into 8 slices and would have been easier to share as an appetizer.Service is good. Toilet is clean.
Sinbads is by far one of my favorite restaurants in Rochester. I usually don’t eat dark meat, but I LOVE their chicken pita. I ordered off of Grubhub and asked for no tomato on my pitas. When it was delivered all of them had tomatoes on it. I called into Sinbad’s and the OWNER replaced all 3 of my pitas and delivered them himself. I am super impressed and will definitely be back.
Have enjoyed eating at Sinbads for several years now, great food and atmosphere. However, about 3 weeks ago we had terrible service, the waitresses were no where to be found and we patiently waited at a table for 15 minutes before being offered water and a menu. The girls were all congregated at the main counter chatting, oblivious to the customers. The food was exceptional, service was very subpar, a first for us.Today I took the wife for an early dinner. My chicken pita looked under cooked, was told it looked that was because of the dark meat. Wasnt offered an opportunity to have it recooked or reordered. I kept my mouth shut and just ate my salad, took pita home for the dogs. Decided against it and threw it in the trash. Second terrible experience in a row.Have noticed that the owner has not been around for the last 3 visits, hope all is well. The staff really needs guidance and someone in charge. I regretfully wont be back again. I work too hard for my money only to have someone a third of my age show me attitude. What a shame.
I told the owner that I would be happy to leave a review after he personally delivered food to my door that had been left out of my takeout order. Also, while the restaurant atmosphere is a bit dark and narrow, the Greek food here is delicious. A favorite choice for takeout. Outdoor patio dining in the summer.
Best falafel and gyro in Rochester- manager always checks on you when youre there- he is super friendly, excellent staff. Food is super fresh and incredible every time without fail. Try the Mashawi- my husband says its one of the best meals hes had in his life. My in-laws lived in Israel for years and obsessed with Sinbads- they say it is totally legit. We are so lucky to have Sinbads in Rochester- skip Alladins- come to Sinbads!
Food is amazing the prices are just write the staff is friendly. Good location in the city on Park Ave. If you like Lebanese food or Mediterranean food this is definitely the spot for you. Catering is also available open 11 a.m. the falafels the baba ganoush the kibbie all delicious and fresh highly recommended it.
We stumbled upon this place on Saturday 3/4/2017 by chance, well what a blessing in disguise! It was not full to capacity but for 1 table, so we were able to sit right down. However it was late for the 3 of us and needed to eat ASAP, 3 diabetics! It was very busy by now and we finally ordered. Unfortunately before any of our food came one of us had a medical issue, and needed to leave, but also we needed to eat, and ASAP! So Vince quickly asked if our waitress could make it to go! Well Jennifer quickly turned our order into a to go order, and the owner was so thoughtful, and glad we did not just leave, so we were able to wait for our server to pack our food up, and thanks to the kitchen staff for helping so quickly!I know I had soup & a gyro dinner over a ceaser salad. Vince had soup also, salad, lamb chops both delishious and we had the hummus appetizer also delishious. I dont remember what Andy ordered, but he was sick and could not eat it that night, but he had eaten there before and told us it was good food. So we will Def go back. Thank you so much to Jennifer, and the kitchen staff, and the owner who was very kind about our situation!!
Sinbads has the best Mediterranean food in the area with a Lebanese flair. They have many of the standard Mediterranean dishes like hummus, dolma, gyros, felafel as well as some of their own creations. The flavors are bold and the service is great. Try the Sambusek appetizer - wow.
I never got a chance to say how I feel about this place but it wasnt pleasant. I was part of a bus trip as a chaperone visiting universities with my daughter and her school. We visited many schools including the University of Rochester. It was a suggestion made by a syaff memeber to go to Sinbads adding that the food was great. I couldnt wait to taste it. I love Mediterranean food and couldnt wait to experience outside of NYC. We went in as a group and were immediately sat to a table. The menu had so many different options so I had some questions for the waitress with the red orange hair to help answers so of my concerns. She was evasive. So I persisted until finally she came over to me. By this time everyone at my table had ordered. Idiot remember what exactly was the questioned I posed but neverthe less she was rude and condescending. So, instead of making a scene I got up from the group and left. When I arrived outside I saw a couple of other students complaining on how they werent being serviced at surrounding restaurants. Naturally, we were all upset and baffled. I walked around the block crying. I went into a pizzeria that was close by and had a big slice. They were much more inviting than what I just went through. I decided to call Sinbad while outside and my group outside. I asked to speak to the manager and expressed my concern. I understand that someone may be having a bad day but it was no excuse. I wasnt being difficult nor was I ride either until it was apparent on how I was being treated from the rest of the group. The manager told me to come back in to the store and that dinner was on him. I expressed that I didnt want to go back in the store and feel uncomfortable. I stated to him that I just wanted him to talk to his waitress which he said he would. It really bothered me that the other staff members continued eating and didnt bother to come outside and check on me. It became apparent that color was an issue when we got back on the buses and a lot of the black students were also crying. Some for served but others didnt fit the bill and were turned away. It was sad because we mad it a topic of discussion on the buses we were on. The Caucasian students experienced a wonderful time and didnt have that issue although some chose not to eat at the other establishments when their black friends were turned away. Obviously by now you know Im a black woman. Im from NYC and Im a professional. I went to college and only wanted to share the experience of visiting colleges with my daughter. Instead I was reminded that day of the color of my skin along with so many other great smart students...the school is Bared High School look it up....well rounded kiss who were just hungry but turned away by many of the other restaurants on that strip that day. Im reminded that Im back everyday, and now the next generation has to go through the same thing. America the land of the free; isnt free for everyone. As co f Sinbad, the waitress may have had a bad day but after seeing the other students go through the same or was obvious what the problem was. Instead we got boxes of pizza and the black kids ate on the bus. The message is clear and although University of Rochester was a great school it wasnt a pick for us. My daughter didnt experience what I went through as she is fairly light but she understood how serious it was when we had a bus filled with crying black women and angry black men...thank you Sinbad and the surrounding restaurants on that strip...message clear.
The restaurant was beautiful and spaciousThe waitress was very politeThe food came out quicklyThe food was absolutely deliciousWhen I ordered the Fatteh (lamb chops) I expected some typical ordinary lamb. No big deal.Dude... was I wrong. The lamb chops were gorgeously plated on this giant plate bowl of soup with tahini sauce on top. I have no idea what the soup base was but it blessed my taste buds. Mixing the tahini into the soup was a brilliant move. You know that soup was bomb when you use soup as salad dressing. It sounds idiotic, but dont knock me till you try it. The lamb chop was cooked to perfection and Gordon Ramsay would have been proud. I gotta say Im still craving this magnificant dish. I feel honored to have tried this Fatteh.

2022-06-14My boss and I came here yesterday for a quick meeting late in the afternoon. We found a table outside and sat down. Immediately, one of the staff members brought over a couple menus and asked what we’d like to drink. The waiter was also friendly, the food was good and prepared quickly. If you like Mediterranean food, I would recommend this restaurant.Attentive and cordial staff. Tasty dishes. Quick service. Nice outdoor seating area.

2022-05-17Delicious food, amazing outdoor seating space. I would eat here again without any questions. Staff was extremely friendly. The owner or manager also seemed a bit tense and kept every staff on their toes, but it appears that it works.

2021-11-20Wonderful restaurant with extremely courteous staff. Food was overall good and we have thoroughly enjoyed everything. The platter in specialties was really good. Mishawi was good but more flavors can make it best. Greek salad very good.

2021-12-07Our meal was 5 stars all around. We ordered the mashawi plate, ganbari and tried the eggplant gyro for a non meat option. Everything was amazing down to the fruit salad. I suggest eating family style because we were able to have a bit of everything on our plates. Lets not even talk about portions, theyre HUGE and although theres a big quantity of food, quality isnt spared.

2021-08-10I love good quality authentic middle eastern food so Sinbad’s is Probably one of my favorite restaurants in Rochester. I always go for the Fatteh Plate (lamb chops with hummus) and then add some small side dishes to complete the experience. Prices are amazing for what you get.

2021-09-27An experience in gyros I never knew existed. Their gyro was by far the best Ive ever had, the tahini sauce was unreal, the meat perfectly cooked. This is my new obsession. So damn good I want4 more right now.

2022-06-18The food is great, ive eat then dozens of times. My server was sweet and good at her job, but the owner micro managing his staff tableside is extremely off-putting... he should let them work without him over their shoulder, would be better for staff and customers.

2022-06-28Great food and service.Tried the falafel appetizer it was very good. Had mashawy for dinner. Grilled steak and chicken between pita bread with some veggies and lots of Mediterranean flavor came with a salad.
