The service from this company is second to none. I’ve been with this company for 20+ years, and have never had a negative experience… from the office workers, to the expert technicians. I had a burner problem yesterday in a very cold day. The wait for service was minimal, and usually is. Ricky came to my house yesterday. He diagnosed my problem within minutes, and had me up and running within half an hour. He would not leave until the house heated up, and while he waited he explained the whole process of what was going on. I am going to be moving soon and will be taking this wonderful company with me. They are absolutely the best!!
I ran out of oil and have a two year old daughter. I called Skaggs and mentioned that someone that lived here/at my address before had a contract and I wanted a new the contract.They said okay but you needed a $1,000 deposit. I said you have not ran my credit or my husband credit why is the deposit $1,000. She replied because your related the previous owner.Deny someone a contract, based on sharing the same last name? However, I got married and dont share the same last name any longer with the previous owner.However, there are tons of oil company. I was able to get oil because clearly my money was accepted elsewhere.
A few months ago my review for Skaggs Walsh would have been 5 stars for their oil service. They are quick and efficient if you have a service membership with them. Ive been using their services for 2 years and I do not have one complaint on that aspect. My advice would be to stay away from their plumbing services.Today, however, I had the most traumatizing experience with the owner on the phone after I made a payment. I think people forgot how to interact with others after the pandemic.Long story short, if you owe them make sure to pay it in full, do not ask questions and making smaller monthly payments during a pandemic does not matter at all. Even if you have a $600.00 security deposit. Seriously.The owner TRIED to come for my morals and use any way they could to make me feel less than a human. It was very surprising because this was the first time I ever spoke to them. The other employees overall have been nice.Overall, I like giving people the benefit of the doubt and I hope that the owner (which I chose not to name) was just having a crummy morning.I also hope they realize that using terms such as who do you think you are? and youre that kind of person in a customer service voice does not make them sound professional and does not sound less offensive. I forgot to point that out in the call.
I am a new customer of Skaggs-Walsh, and couldn’t be happier. I had some questions and concerns. I spoke to Donna in the office and she resolved them all. I had a boiler problem, and the mechanic that came out couldn’t have been more capable or professional. I would definitely recommend Skaggs-walsh
I’m not a customer. But one of my neighbors is. Today (01/22/2022) as I was heading to work (3:47pm) for an evening shift at Montefiore a driver stopped i from T if me on Hollywood Avenue in the Bronx. When the driver got out of his vehicle I asked if he could move. He shrugged his arms and made a gesture letting me j is he wasn’t going to move his truck (which was blocking the road when he had options to get out of the way). I called the office and was met with a chorus from the receptionist that if they are delivering they can… (apparently NYS driving laws don’t apply to oil delivery people). I’m shocked that in 2022 the oil companies in the Bronx haven’t found smaller and safer means to deliver oil. The trucks they drive hardly fit down most of the one way streets in the Bronx.
The customer service is 2nd to none. You ALWAYS speak to a friendly patient person. Not an automated system. Every service specialist has be friendly and kind and explained what they were doing and answered all of my questions. Very happy I got the annual service contract.
I have purchased their annual furnace protection plan for the last three years and I am assuming it provides free service when oil furnace breaks down. I have never made a single call ever since I bought the plan. Last month the furnace broken down and they sent someone to repair it and the feed back was it needs cleaning and it was done. Few days later, my tenants had manually turned it off because they heard some crazy loud noise and requested someone to check the boiler. Skagg sent someone to check and said no noise observed. Then, they charged me for 3 hours of services of $275 per hour total of $825. If you didn’t observe noise what were you doing there for 3 hours. And isn’t this supposed to be part of the protection plan? Also this is the first complaint my tenants make in 3 years, and especially furnace did break down few days ago. why would anyone turn off the furnace in Middle of winter if they didn’t feel it was kinda of dangerous. I have 2 tenants that heard the noise and can testify.. my tenants arent the ones that makes complaint every other day.. also if there was such charges for $900 for check furnace? And was not disclosed up front.. Skagg is literally 10 mins away from this house.. this is unacceptable
Victory Skaggs staff are very good problem-solvers! They fixed errors made on AC and gas boiler that were installed by people that did not do the job well from the get-go. These faulty installs caused us issues for years! Ralph and his staff were dedicated to helping resolve matters that others either didnt have the know-how or determination to get to the bottom of. Thank you for all you do to keep us cool in the summers and warm in the winters!
This driver enters backwards on One Way Street. He can definitely turn around and get in safely, but he drives very dangerously. He is a terrible driver.--- Obviously there are no obstacles on the road. I live nearby and no one wants to waste time to taking pictures and leaving reviews. The driver can enter safely, but because the driver drove dangerously so I wasted time to writing a review. For the safety of others, you should improve what you driver did wrong rather than excuse.
My furnace came on intermittently, but then it shut off. They made 3 separate visits with 3 separate techs to try to resolve the issue. The 3rd tech found out that the controller on my furnace needed replacement. I appreciated the fact that they did not give up, and that they strived to keep coming back until the problem was fixed. Thank you. My home is now very warm and comfortable, just in time for the cold weather moving in.
We’ve done business with Skaggs-Walsh for quite a few years now. The customer service is always friendly, the service people always get here within a reasonable amount of time, even sometimes in the middle of the night, and basic parts are always on the truck for a quick repair when needed.
Had a boiler malfunction and a salesman had to come to my house to sell me a new boiler. We signed on a deal, but then I changed my mind after. The salesman called me back pretty much just to yell at me when I am the customer here. I terminated the contract with them right away. That guy was so full of himself its disgusting. Over 10 years with Skaggs Walsh. Wouldn’t go anywhere else with type of service they provide. Have rental property with many unexpected events and could always count on them to provide expedited service and all questions and concerns answered in full detail. I live nearby. we can hear the staff speak very loudly at around 5-8 am every morning. I think the company is in a residential area, so you have to consider the feelings of people around you. I think normal decibel speech will not disturb us if you can. Please!Thank you!
Been a customer for two years with them. First year I didn’t know any better and allowed them to pour in oil every time they called. They collected thousands of dollars that fall/winter from me. Then I got split units this year and use them to supplement. Today I got a voicemail with them saying they are canceling services with us because we are not pouring in enough oil. What in the actual F???????? How does a company call their customer to let them know they are terminating services for not using enough product. Happy to go to your competitor you weirdos! Had a boiler installed by Skaggs-Walsh recently. The lead on the job, Neal B was exceptional. The team was efficient and Neal made sure my home was looked after properly. They cleaned any mess after the installation and all was handled in a timely manner. I will stay with them for as long as Im within their coverage area, and have no problem recommending them to my loved ones. They are fair and human, which is rare in this day and age. Very happy customer!!
I have used this company for many years. They replaced my oil burner a number of years ago and it has worked well. Whenever there are any issues they respond quickly no matter when i call, or the weather. They send a technician to service the burner every year. They are always friendly and professional. I had the burner serviced today and the technician Steve arrived on time and accomplished the job quickly.
Skaggs is our oil and furnace maintenance provider, this year turning our heat on was chalanging to say the least. In our new buisness location we moved into we found out the previous tenant was using the oil tank to dump used oil. Needless to say our furnace and tank did not function due to this but Skaggs Walsh was there that day to diagnose the problem, provide a fair estimate, and got me in the schedule for a new tank and furnace repair immediately. Can not thank them enough!! Only company I trust with my Heating/Air Conditioning and plumbing needs!
Recently our boiler went. We had been loyal customers to another company for a long time, the quote they gave us really proved they did not value us. They later called to ask what could they HAVE done to keep us. How about treating us right the first time for our years of loyalty. Skaggs-Walsh came in at a decent price, completed the work quickly and got us warm again. We are now their customer and hope to build a new lasting relationship.
I am very disappointed in Skaggs-Walsh. I have been their customer ever since they bough Atlas (going on 10 years) and had several issues of boiler malfunctions, and they claimed they were triggered by debris or water from my underground tank. I recently agreed to have them install a brand new indoor tank for $3800 and submitted the first payment. I was told that would solve my problems for good. That was last Thursday, and less than a week I have had the boiler fail 2 times and have had to call them to repair it. The first time the repairman claimed that I had a vacuum leak and he tightened a valve on the new tank. I am currently waiting for the next repairman to arrive and fix this latest problem.
Enrolled with Skaggs through the HEAT USA buying program. We just bought a new house and ran out of fuel. Skaggs showed up the next day and filled the tank- all in the dead of winter and for a new customer! Customer service was attentive and responsive. Was also able to schedule a boiler tune-up which was performed promptly and satisfactorily. Initially were very happy with our choice of oil providers.
The repair was immediately after the bad storm and flood. My basement was flooded from the storm and the boiler might have been damaged. Skaggs-Walsh can early the next morning, changed some electronics and returned the boiler back to working. Nothing but high praise!
Ive been a customer of Skaggs for many years - first at our house in Queens 2003-2013 and then we continued to use them when we moved to Long Island and I have to say they are incredibly reliable and provide great service. I pay extra for the top service plan and I find that I get a lot of value for what we pay. Things inevitably break during a bad LI winter but these guys show up and make it work. They didnt install the furnace - so not their fault when things go, but they always make it work. Never an issue with getting delivery when we need oil no matter the weather.
Skaggs Walsh is overpriced they charge almost a dollar more for oil. Through the pandemic I lost income and kept them informed of my situation also made small payments, They added high finance charges to my acount in the middle of a pandemic when people are hurting to pay bills. Called them dec 5th to make a payment and told them beginning Jan. I can make my regular payments again. Called Jan. 4 account went to collection. In the middle of a pandemic when people are struggling to pay bills. Plus 29% fee for collection agency. I was sent a letter a monrh ago saying they are cancelling my contract and wont deliver oil to me so i had to find an oil company which is Petro. That is how I found out I have been overcharged for years for oil. Skaggs got upset I was getting oil from anorher company that Lucy hung up on me. The owner is heartless and doesnt want to hear you are struggling threw a pandemic please shop around for oil they OVER charge you.
We just started this year with Skaggs-Walsh, and when we were away our hot water heater sprung a slow leak , as soon as we got home, we called them, and Steve R.( the service man) was there within the hour- they arranged for a new tank that day, Lawrence, and Neil B , came and seamlessly put in a new tank before the leak got worse! As far as calamity’s go this one was resolved before it came one far exceeded our expectations! The price is always right for the oil, and always comes on time, not once have I had to call and request a delivery. Wonderful company to deal with!
We have been customers of first, Victory Brothers, and now Skaggs-Walsh, since 1992. We appreciate the continuity. The quality of service is outstanding, and the staff is very professional, friendly, and know exactly what they’re doing. More importantly I appreciate the fact that they don’t upsell and have never told us to get something we don’t need. We trust them completely and happy to work with them again.
I became the main customer through the passing of my parents. When I called to change the account over to my name the lady who answered was very helpful, respectful and professional. They deliver on time and with no horror stories that you here about other companies. I am very satisfied with this company.
Enrolled with Skaggs-Walsh through the HEAT USA buying program. Our old boiler finally died so we had them install a new one and oh what a surprise. They installed it very quickly an it has been working for months without a problem. The has has never been so work and the furnace much quieter.
I was a SuperFuel customer for many years. Admittedly a bit nervous when they were taken over, but the employees stayed, the service is still great. I called off season, to get some payment history for tax purposes, and Donna was incredibly helpful. Not only did she quickly provide the requested information, but she offered more facts to obtain a tax credit. I immediately forwarded it to my accountant. Thanks Donna!
Over this past Thanksgiving weekend, I had a problem with my oil burner and the oil company that I have been doing business with for the past 5 years was not very responsive to my dilemma. My neighbor suggested that I call Skaggs-Walsh, and within an hour, John Sequino was at my doorstep, providing me with information about Skaggs-Walsh, in a most professional manner, and as I was reviewing their contracts, and all the services that they provide a customer, the wheels were already in motion to have a repairman at my house that afternoon, and by nightfall, the burner was fixed and my house had heat once again. Skaggs-Walsh is, by far, the most accommodating energy company that I have had the pleasure of dealing with.
At closing on a house and got hit with an absurd bill from Skagg Walsh for about $1.00 more per gallon than other companies. They filled up the tank prior to my closing so I had no choice but to pay a bill of almost $900... yes they filled it up to the rim! Prior seller ensured that she used up all the fuel left in the tank. OK, so that is not the main problem because I know I have to get fuel for my home anyway. My problem is that Skagg Walsh told me that their fuel is at $2.79 a gallon, which is still too high in comparison with other companies, but I still tried to negotiate a credit for the difference they charged me of $.50 a gallon, but they told me I had to negotiate that with my closing lawyer. Does that make sense? So basically they told me tough cookies you gotta eat the additional charge we billed you (without my consent)! What kind of customer service is this? Unfortunately, I am tied to a contract that was transferred from the previous owner. They talk highly about themself, but between saying and doing theres a large gap!
Whenever I have a serious issue (like no heat during winter) someone would come the same day and stayed until the problem is fixed. In fact, not just fixing the problem but making sure the boiler is also running smoothly. Repair folks also ensure they dont leave a mess and always cleaned up (or use preventative measures)
Just moved and was researching boiler service contracts/heating oil suppliers in the area. I am glad I stumbled upon Skaggs Walsh. John S. was extremely thorough and very easy going. He came and performed a complimentary efficiency test on our furnace. He took his time explaining the ins and outs, including the companys history, the service contracts offered, and the fuel delivery process. Within a week, they sent Neal to service the furnace. He was EXCELLENT! Friendly, knowledgeable, and an all-around good guy, he brought up the furnaces efficiency by performing a thorough cleaning and maintenance. Lets hope everything is this smooth moving forward with Skaggs Walsh!
I have not used their company but my complaint is about one of their drivers driving wrong way recklessly at a high speed after hitting my neighbor’s tree on Green street, Valleystream on Nov 15, 2019 around 3:20 P.m. while kids are standing on the sidewalk during school hours. I wonder what’s their work ethics if they have no respect for the law.
They are currently bleeding my mom dry. My mom is a retired Nurse on a fixed income.My parents have been loyal customers since the 80s.Now they are saying their Boiler is broken - which is only 8 years into a 10 year warranty - and they want to charge her $5000 to fix.Dispicable.
Got to admit when I saw some 1 star reviews I knew they came from other oil companies. Fake news,fake reviews. Want to bet $1000 I can connect any one of those names to another fuel distrib employee? You,d lose. Bottom line is they sell you the oil (easy) and they fix your burners when nobody else has the brains,time or crew to come do it.
Do not use them. They lock you into a high rate and you are stuck paying as much as $1 more per gallon... so thats 400-500$ more per delivery if you have a 550 tank. Outrageous!! I would give them 0 star if possible but i guess the 1 star for the amazing service guys they have. Other than that... they are just horrible. COD is the way to go! Check out Wise Choice Fuel or Triboro Energy.
The phone service representatives are disgusting. CUSTOMERS BEWARE. NOT WORTH the premium they charge. I canceled the account today.When I told that I would have to speak with Allison Heany, Deborah and Jessica told me that they dont care about the sort of terrible service they provide because they are working there as family and therefore implied that it didnt matter what they did, the owner, Allison Heany, couldnt fire them.These over-the-phone arguments are not the first, and I have dealt with Deborah and Jessica on several occasions. They are stubborn and disgusting people.When Allison Heany contacted me more then five years ago to sign up with them for Heating Oil she assured me that the higher premium they charge was worth it because of the quality in service and product they provide. I WILL NOT TOLERATE THIS ANYMORE.
The worst company ever.They said our vent alarm was broke never had a problem with the other oil company...and came to the house 3 time to fix it... never fixed. They dropped 1 gallon of oil ..who does this.they have the nerve to blame us the customer for....STAY AWAY..there are a lot of different oil companies ..use them instead..
Worst service ever a bunch of incompetent employees dont know how to run a business. Dont have an emergency you will wait forever No communication between dispatch and drivers no clue on arrivals waited all day from 6Am till night time. Oh dont run out of oil they are worst they deliver the oil knowing they need to start the boiler but no they leave without contacting me by phone which I asked them to do. on the coldest day of the year

2022-02-06Skaggs-Walsh has been our oil provider for 20 years. Deliveries arrive automatically, always with a goal to fill us up when we are at 45-50% of tank capacity and to top us off before the summer begins. They service our boiler annually and when it was time for replacement they provided the guidance needed to make the best choice. When our boiler did have an issue, they were here quickly, identified the problem and replaced the failing part. We can always count on them!!

2022-02-14We are very pleased with Skaggs Walsh. They have been our oil and service company for the past 20 years. We had a in ground tank problem and lost heat, when we called them someone came by right away and set up a temporary oil supply, they inspected the tank and determined we needed a new tank and the next day they worked all day installing a new above ground tank and new oil line . Absolutely the best job and I would have no problem recommending them to all my friends. Thank you Skaggs Walsh for being there when we need you!

2022-05-20Absolute terrible company. Driver was not signaling and not aware of his surroundings at all. Instead of driving properly he spent time to get out of the car (mind you 2 other cars were trying to back out of this spot) to curse out the drivers using the R- word. Haha

2022-07-21I have been a customer of Skaggs-Walsh since 2010 and I can recommend them without reservations. They have always delivered the oil supply without any problems. They maintain good records and know exactly when to deliver. Since 2010 they also replaced my old boiler with a new one which has been reliable in heating both my home and the domestic water. In addition, they replaced the oil tank in the basement which was in bad shape. These were not easy tasks, but they performed both repairs without any mishaps and the technicians were respectful, responsible and worked hard and in a timely manner in their installation of the equipment. Whenever there has been a concern with the heating, they have been there for us. They service the equipment and perform maintenance checks. All in all, I recommend Skaggs-Walsh for their reliable and professional service since we started using them 12 years ago. Thank you Skaggs-Walsh for taking care of our heating needs. O.M.

2022-05-28We have used Skaggs-Walsh for almost 40 years as did the prior home owner. Skaggs-Walsh has saved me 2 times this winter when my boiler stopped working. One time was a Sunday night and the other was a weekend night. They responded quickly and fixed the problems right away. The service people are professional and knowledgeable. The staff in the office are great, too. My oil is delivered on a schedule and without incident even though it is not always easy to get to the tank. I would highly recommend Skaggs-Walsh!

2022-04-11I have been using Skaggs Walsh for some years after having issues with my old oil delivery/ burner service company. Ive never had any negative issues with their delivery or service like I had with the old company I used..I like the fact that there is always someone to answer a phonecall..I have also used their plumbing service with no issues.I definitely recommend them

2022-06-07This is a great well run oil company. They answer immediately, come at a moments notice, and fix my problem first time call.In addition, they are friendly and make me feel important. No issue is too small. I wish I had known about Skaggs-Walsh years ago instead of using another oil company which disappointed time and time again.Thank you Skaggs-Walsh for all your patience and great personnel.Don’t know what I would do without you.

2022-04-07Where do I begin. I will keep this real short by saying we ran out of oil at least 5 times this winter and this is someone who has automatic delivery. Last year at least 2 times and the year before that at least 2 times possibly 3. I am speaking on behalf of my elderly mother who’s house I am talking about. Please don’t get me started about my mom being a customer for 19 years and never owned 1 red cent. When the bill came in I paid it for her. Well being such a tough year for EVERYONE and prices thru the roof. I started to not pay the invoice in full like we have been doing for the last 19 years. Let’s just say there is no compassion and understanding in this company. They even put me on with the owner to calm me down. They do not care about being a family business nor do they care about your family. I don’t think I will be celebrating my 20th year Anniversary with Skaggs and Walsh. I know it’s not like if I go to another company the prices will be better but the customer service has to be.
