Purchased tickets $20 each, when we arrived because my boyfriend wasn’t wearing a collared shirt or jeans (he was wearing khaki shorts and a white V neck) we were not allowed in. You are allowed to not wear a collared shirt if you are wearing jeans, but if you are wearing shorts, you have to wear a collared shirt… they said they would only let us in if we purchased a table with $500 of bottle service. He had to switch shirts with someone in our group wearing jeans just so we could go in without spending $500 and then switch back shirts once we were inside…. Music was ok. Drinks were fine, not worth the price at all. There are so many other better places that don’t have a cover and don’t treat there customers like this. Will never be returning, do not recommend. Go to the Standard in Meatpacking. No cover and much better venue. The Brass Monkey as well is a much better venue.
Horrible service! Dont believe the hype on the website. Arcade consists of 2 games, crazy prices and check-in staff is rude. Not NYC rude literally rude. Ordered 2 tickets to superbowl viewing party paid $150 and sat me next to the windows that were letting in a constant stream of 28 degree air. I had to ware my coat the entire time. Not to mention it took 20 to 30 minutes each time we ordered drinks. Not once did the manager come to see how we were doing. I usually dont complain because I know the struggle of staff, but this was one of the worst experiences Ive had at a high end club. And we couldnt even go to the other level. Such a disappointment. I would have gave a good review but we had to pay a 30 % Gratuity along arrival before service even started. I understand taking care of your wait staff but when you put a 30% gratuity before service, your service is guaranteed to be bottom of the barrel. Go some where else dont spend money here.
I thought slate was super Fun, its a $10 co pay and you can go down a slide to get in. As soon as ur downstairs you’re met with live music, which is a plus, upon arriving i used the bathroom and noticed how small and kinda run down as soon as you flush water gushes out the flushing faucet. No drink menus and drinks come in the smaller “shot” glasses and is $15 just for one, the games were out of order due to a party who had rented it out. It seemed they catered to that one party then the rest of the guest at slate. Games finally opened and they were expensive. Ping pong and pool were $17 EACH. All in all i enjoyed my visit but thought the place could use some serious adjustments
Well, to start off, I went on a Wednesday night, so I had a much different experience then you would on a weekend. I could see this being an atleast 4 star spot for a Saturday night out!Pros: Drinks were strong, food (wings & fries) was amazing, crowd was chill. The staff was friendly. The place was very clean and well kept.Cons: I could barely hear the music. The service was slow especially considering the emptiness of the place. The big Connect four game was faulty with pieces just falling into the same slots and got stuck. Also, 95% of the place was shut down for a private event, which happens. The only complaint I have about that is no one on the staff could tell me if the event was all night and what areas were actually open or not, so we just stayed in the one place we knew that was, the upstairs bar. There was only 1 ping pong and 1 Foosball table available to play on, nothing else.
PROS: Theres 2 floors. Downstairs has a whole bunch of games (pool, giant connect 4, arcade games) along with a few lounge areas, a bar & enough space for a dancefloor. Free coat check. The music downstairs was so much fun! Wasnt a fan of the DJ upstairs, it was mostly house music and beats, but its because of the DJ that was playing that night. This place is super fun & has a space for any vibe youre looking for. Whether its chill, games or dance!CONS: Drinks are a bit pricey. The line outside to get in & then the line to wait for coat check. If you get there before 10, you wont wait in line long but any time after is at least 25 min wait. THE PROCESS TO GET YOUR COAT BACK IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. Everyone had to put in their phone number on a tablet which would send you a text with a digital ticket number. However, not everyone would get a text and the attendants didnt confirm to see if you received one. At the end of the night, we waited in line for 30 mins to get our jackets back. 2/4 of us had a text, if you didnt get one they would find your jacket with the last 4 digits of your phone number. HOWEVER, one of the tablets wasnt working no matter how many times you put in your phone number! They had NO solution to fix this!! I took it upon myself to grab another tablet, the attendant said no and I was like absolutely not, Im putting my number in this because they apparently were unable to do their job and the other tablet wasnt working. That was the only way I was able to get the correct ticket number. Luckily when you put in your phone number at the beginning of the night, it also takes a picture of you so you know its your jacket. People were on top of each other, swarming the desk, the attendants didnt know what to do if your phone number wasnt working. Security kept yelling at everyone to form a line but no one was listening. The entire experience was a disaster and sobered me up so fast.I love this place, Ive been here a few times but every time theres an issue with coat check. If you could not bring a coat, I would highly suggest it to save you the awful experience. We werent locals so we needed jackets. I would def return, just during the summer.
This is place is pretty cool... The food was good with limited vegan and vegetarian options. I liked the tunnel slide and large broad games. They have old school Ms Pac-Man but it is hard to play because you cannot see the bottom of the screen. The mucis was cool and they have enough TV to watch any sports game you like. Lastly, staff was great however I did find drinks pricey.
I went to slate with my friends the night of February 5th and it was an experience to keep me away forever. First the bartender tried to make me feel bad because I was waiting to tip him till after we finished ordering our drinks (didn’t go back to him all night). It’s very loud and very crowded. The coat checkers had an attitude and was very rude. If I want to play games I honestly don’t know how to do that because it was so disorganized and they were not helpful. The worker who worked the bathroom that night dropped my friends drink (they aren’t cheap $16 per drink) and never got her another one. He said he would and he didn’t they treat u like ur to drunk to function when that is not the case laughing and joking as if dropping a girls drink is funny.I remember vividly I was walking down the steps she was screaming and I said I’m just trying to look for my friend she said she didn’t care and pushed me. In a crowded place with people drinking you would think they’d be understanding when you lose you friend. Then my friend don’t get the text for her coat (coat check) she went upstairs to make sure it wasn’t a problem they said it shouldn’t be because she put her number in and of course it ended up being a problem and they couldn’t find her coat. (Eventually found it)Lastly I would’ve liked to know they were kicking my friend out instead they said she needs air and didn’t let her back in. I appreciate the waters to help her sober up but the communication that she was getting kicked out was t given until she tried to go back in. All in all I would never go back there again.Go there at your own risk.
Ive been to many night clubs before, 1Oak, Up Down, PhD, Mission, Maru, Playboy, this is in my opinion 1 of best around city! Highly recommend coming little early, since it can get very crowded, but I suppose maybe for great reasons, meaning its lit for party scene!Theres typically a $20 cover, unless you come earlier too. What makes this venue special is that coat check is typically free, covers are comparable to many other venues, but place is significantly larger, more aesthetically flashy, 2 dance floors, meaning more music choice variety, many other activities too, hence more value for your covers, and crowd is demographically pretty diverse! Bouncers can sometimes be strict, but so far thankfully havent seen anything too extreme. Whats also special is maybe from its diverse crowd, but they also dont seem to discriminate as much. There are many venues that will sometimes isolate boys / girls, sometimes judge on looks, charge different covers, force people to buy bottles to get in. Over here, its crowded, but much more orderly, you line up, enter in, then enjoy and have fun!If youre the owner reading this, please never change, I know many, including me, that have been a couple times, and hope to continue to do so, well bring business over, as long as fun hopefully continues on, so everyone can win! At 1 point got a group of about 40 people together, everyone was able to enter and get in smoothly!
Wow what a terrible place. An absolute scam in terms of tickets to the Super Bowl. If your tickets say unlimited food the whole night, it means the whole night, not 8 pm. And also friendly word to your staff, there are ways to be nice and kind and your staff clearly has a long way to go when it comes to that. I’m sure they’re lovely, but your service, you attitude, and your capitalist mentality of scamming people just looking to have a good time is a shame to your name.
This place will double charge you if youre in a group. My son and I went to meet a bunch of people. My server put my sons order in both my check and his check, unbeknownst to either of us. Neither of us expected the server to double charge us. I only realized that days later. We called them to ask for a refund and they said they couldnt find the charge even though we have them all the details: the name on the reservation, date and time, the exact order, and the two separate credit cards used. They said they would get back to us within a week but they never did. Im not going back to this place for sure. If you go there with a large party, make sure you check with everyone in your party what theyre being charged with. Dont assume this bar knows how to keep track of everyones tab, and dont assume they will only charge each item once.
Gurl WHAT?! This multi-level spot is a whole VIBE.Downstairs: Games galore! It gets pretty packed down there on a weekend. By 8pm it was pretty packed to be honest, but the upstairs doesnt start up until like 11pm or so.Upstairs: A pretty decently big nightclub, with bottle service, DJ, and all!Tid Bids:--At least the day I went in March 2022, there was FREE coat check. Line could get a little long though.--Common sense, but no drinks on the slide--If you want to cop a game of pool, hover over some folks playing and once theyre done walk upstairs with them to purchase the pool balls. If you play a game and just give it away you are being charged on time.— This is the kind of spot I wore black jeans, cute top, and heeled booties to. Don’t have to get too fancy, unless you’re strictly staying at the night club upstairs.
The aesthetic of the place is really nice: a slide going downstairs, karaoke, bowling, pool, arcade area, a cool setup on the first floor. The reason I gave it 3 stars is cause the djs are so bad, worst djs so far. If you like listening to just house music then its for you. Also, the staff are rude. They dont even ask, they just assume your in the wrong and you have to clarify for yourself and they dont even apologize for being wrong.
I gave this place 2 stars because the bouncers upstairs and the “dress code” at slate. When we got there, all of us were dressed like one would on a regular Saturday to go drink and play some games for my birthday. The bouncers rudely stopped my bf and and my friend because his khaki shorts and her basic black leggings saying they werent acceptable because of slates dress code.Meanwhile the girl who had literally just walked out a minute before we walked in had ripped jeans and a baseball cap on but they kept saying “no active wear allowed”.Fast forward 30 minutes later, we lived close by so they changed, we’re downstairs getting drinks and playing games , and everyone else is in sneakers, baseball caps, flannels, leggings, etc. super casual wear.Just so you’re all aware in advance, their “dress code” that isn’t on their website by the way, their website just says “dress to impress”…to play arcade games. The bouncers said to us:• no active wear• no summer sandals• no shorts (for men at least, I don’t know what they’d say for women)Everything else was good. Games. Drinks. Music.Good for a 1 time experience but those dudes upstairs ruined the vibe. Not good customer service.
Don’t waste your time. This place is unsanitary, has poor service and only has about 3 games. The bartenders were mean. I attempted to order a drink on their filthy bar counter tops while paying cash, and the bartender handed me my cash on the wet counter top. Leading my dollar bills to be soaked in whatever fluid was on that table. He then took my change and never gave it back until i spoke up.
My fiancé and her two friends went here last Saturday and the bouncer advised them that the club was closed and they had to come back at 7. They then returned at 7 and the bouncer try to tell them they were to drunk to enter. Mind you they were a little loud outside taking pictures but two of them didn’t even drink yet. After 10 mins a manager finally let them in and the place was packed. The fact they lied and said they were closed is ridiculous. The bouncers here are trash.
Fun space for friends with an awesome respective and responsive staff. Theres a game area in the basement so theres just about any and every way to be entertained for the night. I would recommend for parties with a group of friend or a couples date. The dance floor was fun on both floors with the main one being upstairs. They had a mix of pop and electronic music but threw the occasional, hip hop, reggae, reggaeton, socca, and throwbacks here and there. Good to kill a night but you gotta pay at least 20 to get in but if you do you can at least enjoy the slide everyone talks about at your own discretion 😎
Nice place with two area.Downstairs can be access with stairs or slide! You will find latino music and games like - basketball, pacman, bowling and others.Upstairs is more DJ/Eletronic and is also way more crowded after certain hour. Both has bars.Place to save your bag/belongs for free!Pay $20 to get in.
Fun club scene when I went on a weekend night. Quite expensive for my taste, especially after $20 cover but I know my three star will be offset by all the automatic 5s from staff and their friends. Gotta keep your score honest.Ex. Redbull vodka 20 before tip. Coors lite 8.Redemption: Even though there were hundreds of people on multiple floors, there are at least 4 bars I saw and if you’re not able to push through at one bar, there’s likely another that’s almost empty away from the dance floor. You’ll not wait if you can stand to leave the dance floor.
Omg omg omg omg SLATE you made my night. DJ was the greatest from upstairs to downstairs. Lights impeccable crowd amazing and the staff awesome. Wanna give a shout-out to one of the Bartenders Noelia she is amazing and has awesome customer service. I will recommend this place......oh wait and they free coat check system needs to be maintenance because I put my number and someone elses face popped up.$20cover is worth it to get in.
Arrived at Slate at 11pm last night, long before indicated closing time at midnight. It was a friends 21st birthday and we had chosen Slate as the place to celebrate! To our shock and dismay, upon even opening the door, we got *yelled* at that Slate was closed and we were not allowed to enter. The rudeness of the staff and laziness in closing early left the person celebrating their 21st practically in tears.Shameful.
My team and I did a team building at slate and we had an awesome time here! There is so many different things to do and a whole bar just for us! There is an upstairs bar and a downstairs Bar where the games are at.. I had the most fun at the mini bowling definitely coming back to this place!!
My friends and I went for NYE with high hopes. Let me start by saying the staff were super friendly, the open bar was actually serving good quality drinks, and the music was great!! However, our night wasnt as amazing as we were hoping. My friends and I paid about $250/each for Ultra VIP + an additional $180 for bottle service. The problem was our table/couch was directly off the dance floor on the first level with NOTHING separating us from the general crowd (not even a rope). The cocktail waitress informed me we were allowed to leave our table, but there was no one to watch it and guarantee that other people wouldnt take our drinks. Willing to risk it and naively trusting people would leave our stuff alone we all went to dance. Upon returning to our table shortly after we found people helping themselves to our bottles (even though they could get free drinks at the bar?!). We tried taking turns so someone was always at the table to guard our stuff but that got annoying pretty quickly as we all wanted to have a good time. I eventually resorted to carrying the bottle of Titos with me everywhere (which was actually kinda funny). As the night progressed people were helping themselves to our mixers, popped our bottle of champagne (well before midnight), leaving empty cups on our table (even though there were trash cans everywhere), and sitting on our couch. Every time someone would return to the table the randos would play dumb and scurry away. While slate cant control the actions of a**holes, it didnt help that our table was directly off the dance floor with zero separation from anything. For the amount of money we spent, we would have at least liked the freedom to leave our table and come back to it the way it was when we left. Also, more of an annoyance than anything was they didnt deliver on all the games they advertised would be there (not sure if thats because of COVID though). The pool tables were closed off, the Jenga/connect 4 were locked away, the arcade games were $2/play, and there was no karaoke that I could see. All in all, I would say the night was fun, but definitely under-delivered on what we were expecting
Fun place to hang out with friends. Love the fries buffet they have. The more the merrier. Me and my girl-friend had cosmos and margaritas and they were fine. Just the right flavours with correct blend of alcohol. I love their gaming section. Wish they had more arcade games though!!!
Tagline : The best place in NYC Ive been to.The crowd is great. The live music is top notch. Drinks are in the range of $ 16-20 . There are a bunch of games that you can play downstairs. Upstairs is specifically for dance and live music. The Entry fees is $20. Youll get a place to put your coats . Good place to find someone you can hook up with. Pretty 👧 all around. White guys can easily pick up mexican and indian girls. With some skills Indian guys can find something good as well. All in all I love the place. Would highly recommend it.
I STRONGLY advise all to NOT make reservations here in the current state of the city, if you have to cancel you will be robbed. We booked a table for New Years Eve well in advance, a total of over $2,200 for 8 people. Since booking, covid has surged to a level no one expected. Unfortunately, our group had to cancel a couple of weeks in advance for a variety of reasons all relating to covid. We attempted to get some sort of refund, but were outright denied. No credit for a future visit, not even a complimentary tube of ointment for us to apply on where they f***** us.This bar flat out took our $2,200 with nothing in return. Youd think in the current state theyd be flexible and understanding with their customers, but apparently they care more about a profit than they do taking care of their customers in this unprecedented time that is negatively affecting EVERYONE.
People from school have been coming here for years now. They venue is great but they have consistent issue with security. They are overly aggressive and outright dangerous. I’ve witnessed them manhandle men and even women to point of what should be considered assault. Such a shame
It was my first time at Slate and I don’t recommend a reservation table for drinks and food. Our waitress ordered more food and drinks on top of what we ordered. It was ridiculously annoying as we had to ask to return some drinks and food back because we didn’t order them. We had so many different services charges included in the bill and ended paying more than expected.
Visited Slate for my best friends birthday night out and we had a great time. Atmosphere is very cool. Each area had slightly different music so it was nice to move throughout the place and find what we liked. The slide is very cool. Theres also a couple bowling lanes downstairs so that was interesting. Bartenders were great. Drink prices are on par with other clubs in the area. Waiting in the queue wasnt terrible. On a frigid February night, it felt like a long time but in reality we got inside in under 45 minutes. Coat check was mandatory but only $10 so not terrible. Great place to go with friends or even by yourself. I mostly danced with strangers and had a great time. Women didnt get charged for covers. Guys that were with women didnt get charged. But groups of just guys were charged.
Awesome club featuring a dance floor on the main floor and a slightly more chill area downstairs.Prices for drinks are your typical super expensive new york club prices.Music selection is on point and they offer really cool DJ performances on weekend nights.Location is great too with other nice clubs and plenty of food options nearby for those long party nights. Some nights have a boderline crazy cover charge especially if you get here later at night. So be prepared to spend 💰💰💰
I do not know what everyone is raving about. The place is cute and could be fun, but there are few games. It is almost impossible to play anything as the games are always taken by groups. There IS a cover fee, we paid $20 each and $32 for two small drinks. If you like rap/hip-hop/early 2000s music you will be disappointed. The music was exceptionally bad (old club music that no one can or wants to dance to). Since the drinks are so overpriced you cannot even get drunk to try and have some sort of fun. This place is the epitome of overrated.
Very rude and entitled bouncers - we were getting into the club and I didnt have my ID on, the manager of bouncers (a black guy in his 40s) didnt allow me in - which is fair. When a girl friend pulled me in (without knowing this) he stopped everyone from going in. Because it was disrespectful for him. Very inconsiderate humans in my opinion. Never becoming their customer again + bad word of mouth marketing from my side.
I went here tonight with my brother and some friends, the ambiance is good and so is the music. However, I have a few qualms about this place and I will NOT BE RETURNING. Let’s start with the drinks, my Long Island ice tea was served to me with melted ice. Literally you could see the top of the glass was completely white which meant either the bartender took a while to make the drink or our server took a long time to retrieve it from him/her for service. Either way, I sent it back. Next, the cosmo was serviced with ice. NO cosmo should be served with ice. The bartender was either lazy or just didn’t know this. Next, the food. I ordered the sliders and was told that for $16 I would get 4 medium sized burgers but no sides. The burgers were smaller than a White Castle burger and it did not come with a side and it was actually 3 burgers, not 4 as I had been told - I sent it back.Next… the bill. We receive the bill and I give my card for payment. I never ever tip on my card, I always tip in cash. The waitress saw that I didn’t tip her on my card and then went and told another waitress who then - while I was in the restroom - asked my friends for my name and ID so she could tell her manager that I did not leave a tip on my card!!!!! Mind u, she wasn’t even our waitress. On top of that, she was completely unprofessional and rude! I don’t mind tipping, I always do, but tipping is NOT MANDATORY and asking for my name and ID was completely overboard and disrespectful, especially since despite the bad service I was intending on tipping with cash.I don’t recommend this place.
I’ve never met a more incompetent and rude hostess. Upon showing our vaccination cards and paying the cover charge for a measly Tuesday “jazz” night the hostess seemed flabbergasted at the fact of a “Janssen “ vaccine. She said “Janssen vaccine, that’s not the Johnson and Johnson…” I was immediately contemplating how to explain to this difficult person that the Janssen Pharmaceutical Company created the Johnson and Johnson vaccine. Safe to say , we will not return. Incompetency at its finest. (#Wejustwantedtogodowntheslide…)
Beautiful club. It was fun music was good. Exciting crowd so people were dancing having a good time! Wasn’t packed at all so there were plenty of places to sit. Don’t remember paying anything on Fridays. Saturday I believe it’s a $20 cover. 21+ age limit. Dress was dressy casual, however there a few people in sneakers. Definitely pregame before coming drinks are not cheap anywhere in Manhattan.
I really enjoyed my time here. I came on the Sunday before Indigenous People’s Day! The games were set up nice and the music they played was pretty decent. I really like their mini bowling alley, it was definitely a favorite amongst the crowd. By a certain time after their “special guest” arrived, Mr. Commodore who I believe is an IG comedian; we played an adult version of musical chairs it was hilarious and so much fun. I definitely want to return, it’s a great way to interact with strangers all while having a good time in a safe environment. I also ate while I was there, the food was delicious.
One of my favorite clubs in New York City. There is never a dull moment. From the assortment of dancers on the main stage and the amazing chaos that comes with it, the downstairs has its own vibe, filled with arcade games, couches, and a mini bowling alley (usually only available for private events) the downstairs is a much calmer scene - just make sure you take the slide to get down there :)
Came for my jobs holiday party. This wasnt a visit made for a personal get together... so everything was paid for in advance. I had fun, but that makes things a little better :) There was a slide to get downstairs and lots of games to choose from. I had a blast! Unfortunately, I only saved one picture.
I asked the bartender if she had any lager and was told that no, they only have these, pointing to Corona, Heineken, Budweiser and something else.I had to explicitly ask for a glass, but was given a plastic cup instead. The prices were just as much as proper NYC bars though. There were self-serve beer taps that werent working. There was a comedy show organised, with people bowling on the other side of the window, making hearing difficult.Everything about this place seemed like nobody really cared that much.
Came here with some co-workers after work were able to get in pretty easily! I had no idea this place had a slide!!! This was really surprising and definitely a perk, experience-wise. In addition to that, there are also pool tables, shuffle board, small bowling lanes, and other games (eg: connect four). The music played here is pretty good. The only thing is that the drinks are pretty pricey... for 1 shot it was $12 - and unfortunately these tasted a little watered down.... Despite this, we had a great time and would recommend others to check this place out!
Was trying to have my event there and after going back and forth with Tara, I was asked for my credit card information to reserve my spot. I’ve given them my information which consisted of my CC # as well as my address and I have not heard from them in a week. No one picks up the calls in that establishment and when someone did, his name was Benny the man in charge. When I told him what I was calling for he hung up on me and has not answered my calls afterwards
Ok now that the New Years has come and gone some things need to be addressed. SlateNY you had no business removing my family from the tables we had been seated at since the moment we arrived at the venue. We were the first people in line and through the doors when they opened at 7:30. We paid extra for VIP tickets that included seats, Hors D’oeuvres, and a champagne toast. The way we were treated was completely uncalled for. At around 11 pm they decided that we had only paid for general admission tickets and with the music blaring the hostess decided to call security to have us removed from a table and ushered down to the lower level of the building, Mind you we had been told around 8pm when we did in fact go down to that lower level that the seats we purchased were upstairs. The tall black man with his locks in braids told us this. Only to be shuffled and removed by security when this was my cousins 50th birthday celebration. They then tried to make up for it by giving us a “free” bottle of champagne which wasn’t actually free because we paid for it already. What they did to us was unprofessional and embarrassing. The hostess could have come to us the second we sat down to figure out where the seats we purchased were but instead she chose to wait until the music was so loud you couldn’t hear anything and then went to get security when we showed that we paid for seats. To be honest the club wasn’t even all that and my family were the best dressed and despite them trying to ruin our mood by having us removed from our initial seats just to give them to people who were willing to pay extra on the spot just shows how unethical their business practices are. It’ll be a cold day in hell before I frequent this establishment again and I most certainly will spread the news about the prejudice way that the situation was handled. It looked as if we were the only black woman in the venue to attend the party and not work there. I had to tell the security guard several times not to put his hands on me and he tried shepherding us out and it took everything in me to restrain myself because I had to tell him more than once not to put his hands on me because I am more than capable of walking myself wherever I need to go. #partyingwhileblack #slateny This is why we create exclusive spaces for ourselves! As far as I’m concerned the venues owes us more than an apology.
Very nice decorations a lot of games to play with your date, but most of the time you never have the chance to do because it’s always so crowded, drinks are a bit expensive it’s just the experience overall that’s itIt’s a huge place with two levels the upper level mostly for private events
I remember coming here when it was just a pool hall filled with red felt tables. So for the new rendition it is a fun place but a few things to keep in mind. Coat check is mandatory, luckily I was part of an event so it was free. Drinks are usual Manhattan prices but the atmosphere is fun / clubby. Yeah, its ok.
Definitely a cool experience a great place a mixture of fun and dance the club on the first floor is amazing from the bartenders to the staff to the stage to the whole element and downstairs with the slide is unbelieveable all of the elements that makes this place one of the best out there from a game night to a club night this place has it all, very highly recommend, give it a try you will not regret it.
The place is great for dancing and all, and definitely for bringing friends, but Id be careful around the bouncers or guards. My first time there, I went because I assumed my friends would be there, only to find out that last minute changes happened, so my friends were leaving, causing me some confusion on whether or not I should go inside after being checked in or if I should exit. Suddenly, the bouncer or outdoor guard shouts extremely loudly right in my face to go inside, but I, with a calm voice, told him that he doesnt have to scream because Im not deaf, and he just continues to shout for no reason. Whatevs. Either way, not a bad place to bring your friends and just dance. My second time there, I had a lot more fun because I had proper company and got to enjoy it more. Bartenders were chill, dancefloor was lit. Things only get dramatic at the end. I was waiting in line to retrieve my coat at the coat rack with my bros in front of me. I was not cutting, I was just tiptoing slowly right before they were just about done, only to get falsely accused of cutting, but me just trying to make it clear that those guys are my bros, so technically even if I were trying, Im not cutting, plus, I didnt force my way in. Then that security tells the people at the coat rack not to give me my jacket back, with me dominating by simply telling them that Im not leaving until I get my jacket back. I managed to get it back in the end because the security guard knew it would be the only way for her to stay out of trouble, but the fact that the whole incident even happened at all is outrageous, plus, that was an illegal act of robbery that I chose not to threaten her to report. If she were not the problem, the club was great. Slate oughta know that they should blame these two securities for not getting the 5-star rating they wouldve hoped for.
Currently at slate as I write this review. I am trying my best to communicate with the staff, however the staff does not seem to communicate. They are having a hard time providing bottle service. Its a club with alcohol and music so Im sure Ill find a way to have a good time however servers unsure if the kitchen is open and a manager approving our table for food.DIFFICULT STAFF.
I loved going to Slate pre-pandemic, but it seems to have lost its luster since. The main floor is primarily EDM music, although this was the week eZoo was in town, and the downstairs area is more mainstream hip hop/pop floor. Personally I think the DJ who spins downstairs should be upstairs, mans is brilliant.Cover can be $20 if you come after 11, but is usually free before. Line can get long, but moves very quickly
Its nice because theres no cover, but the scene is always a little off at Slate. The slide is dope though. Wouldnt call this a club, if your looking for a club you go across the street to Bounce. But if your looking to go somewhere to hear good music and just grab drinks somewhere thats not a bar, Slate aint bad.
This place is awesome. It offers a lot of fun games to play while having drinks with friends. Its almost like a Chuck E Cheese for adults. It gets a little crowded but they offer a lot of areas for bottle service. There are 2 floors that each have a DJ. The music was absolutely fantastic. The basement has a bar with games and the main floor is a bar with a big dance floor, like a club. The dancers were pretty bad and the guys on stilts with lights on them were even worse. The dance floor was very crowded but my friends and I had a great night. The line outside was really long. Its best to have a table (which have minimums) or be on a guest list so you can skip the line.
Every week is a different experience. You never know what will happen next. The crowd is mostly young singles with a few older newly singles interspersed.Overall, great festive atmosphere with good music. The bartenders are super friendly even 10 minutes prior to closing. Bonus!
Huge Dance-floor + good music + good crowd + tons of games = Fun filled night! I discovered this Place pretty late but I am glad that I ultimately did! This Place is split up into different levels. Level 1 (basement) is a really chill bar-like place with good music. It has shuffleboard, football, pool and table tennis! Its a good hangout place for friends and couples. All of the games are paid but at a very reasonable price. There is a good seating area as well. Level 2 is where the magic happens. It has a huge dance floor with VIP tables. The crowd here falls in the hotter bracket with all ages rocking the dance-floor. The drinks are reasonable prices (around $14) and are well made. There is no cover charge. Table reservations start at $325. I have heard that the finger food at this Place is also good but I have never tried it.I take away one star because like many other NY clubs, Slate doesnt offer a table minimum option (only bottle service). Also, the lights at the dance floor are extremely bright which kind of takes away the feel of a nightclub!
Online and via the phone, the hours say it opens at 4. Our whole group shows up at 4pm, they say they dont open til 5. We come back at 5pm, they say they actually dont open til 6. When I ask why their hours keep changing the worker yells at me and says its just what theyve been told. This place has terrible management and customer service. Not worth it
Its great as a night club, but kitchen gets closed by 11 if you are ever wondering of going late. Great dance floor and music, great crowd, get the usual drinks a d you will be happy. The best part is the slide that you can take from first floor to ground floor and you will feel like a kid again. They also got games room in the side if you are not in dancing. Overall, one of the better nightclubs in NY
I had an awesome time at this night club! I came with a party of 9 for my birthday this past Friday (11/2). They brought us to our seating area and the bottles fairly quickly. The employees were great and the music was awesome. (There was modern pop and hip-hop, latin pop, and a few oldies were also played.) The drinks are $12, not too expensive for a club in Manhattan.
Went with friends for a birthday and the ambiance is awesome. We got a table downstairs and they set our table up very quickly. We wanted another bottle but no server was found so I tried ordering with the bartenders and they said I couldn’t. I was very understanding on why they couldn’t but then I asked them if they can tell me who I can talk to and they seemed more lost than I was. Kept telling me no I can’t order at the bar. I started to get frustrated so I went to ask security and thank goodness they helped me cause I started to lose my patience. When I found a server then I realized they’re pretty short staffed for such a big basement. I know why the bartenders didn’t want to help because they’re probably not making any money from tables but at least guide me to the right direction. That kind of ruined my night. At the end of the night the basement started to close but and friends who went out to smoke, weren’t be let back in. I went outside to grab them and explained to the front that we spent money on at least two bottles and most of the people were still inside. Having to go in and out wasted part of my night. I wish they had a better system. Overall the experience can be better but still a go to place for me.
This is my first time attending the restaurant/bar/game room. I order my food I am told the food is $19. I hand the person behind the bar $20. I’m not sure about you rich people but I look at the receipt. I see that the food comes up to $18.51. I tell the person I am not rich can I please have my 49 cents. She tells me they don’t give change they round up. Understanding business is business but maybe people should be told that before hand so they don’t bother asking. Also I think they make enough without the rounding up in their favor. Like I said I don’t know about you rich people. But it has an Amazing and appealing atmosphere. Great crowd. Okay music and awesome games.
Lots of fun games, delicious food, and great drinks. Prices definitely add up fast so be prepared for a pricey evening, but youll enjoy it. Doesnt hurt to call ahead and find out if there are large groups with reservations on the night you want to go, as they get first priority on games and can even block out entire sections of activities. Would definitely like to go again!
First time here and it was great. Drinks are good, food is good, vibe is fun. Came for my birthday party. Let them know I had reservations and was promptly shown in and taken to my section. The crowd is really mixed and there to have a good time. Dress code was pretty laid back even though they say it isnt. My only problem was the rude people not in my party that decided they could sit and use area as their coat holder.
Amazingly fun place! Theres a slide from the top floor to the bottom. Bowling, basketball, pool, ping pong and a dance floor. The DJ was killing it on a Thursday night. Lots of room for ping pong. I appreciated that I didnt have to keep running into people. The nachos with steak was amazing. Never had such tender steak on top of nachos before. Would absolutely come back here!
This establishment is a interesting space that’s great for a weekend hit and run. However the service is terrible. You have subpar individuals telling you to check in coats when you’re not wearing one as if they make commission for the amount of coats that they check in. You also have security guards who aren’t quite sure what the job description of a security guard is. You have a basement like setting that’s filled with oversized games that quite honestly, anyone could buy and utilize within their own comfort zone. Great music, though and the “bottle girls” are attentive for the tables that are reserved for.
Ive been here a bunch of times. Its a cute spot but Im wondering how 2 drinks that costed $25 came out to a bill of $40. They added COVID surcharge and gratuity...but it still doesnt add up. I was expecting an itemized receipt but they just give you a dollar amount receipt. I dont like getting got so I probably wont be back.
I celebrated my birthday on March 9th with 10 of my guest. The service was okay. My server was Hanna and she was professional, but often times was not available to take our drink orders. The music was great. The drinks and the food was good as well. I would definitely go back for the music, food, drinks and games.
Very relaxed and casual atmosphere here. Great set up regarding seating - especially for groups. A plus - the slide you can take downstairs to the bar, ha! The last time I was here we made friends with the bartenders who were really friendly and good with suggestions on what to order.
Amazing facility with a fun atmosphere! Many beautiful people gather here so if youre looking to meet some, this is the place to go. The music is modern, and they dont play much Hispanic music but if you get lucky youll hear a song or two. On the main floor you have a massive dance floor, and they have a variety of games in the basement like pool tables. My favorite part is the slide that you can take to get you downstairs, its extremely fun and makes you feel like a grown kid. The staff is friendly and helpful, as well as the bartenders. If youre looking for a fun night clubbing with friends with the choice of playing pool then check this place out!
The atmosphere of the place is alright. Very fun games are available. Ping pong and pool need to be paid for on the top floor by the hour. They have other games that are available for free like a giant connect 4 and giant Jenga. The drinks are a bit pricey. If you want to sit at a table you need to pay for the area.
Company Holiday party here was great. Very cool lay out! Only Knock was the bar manager was pretty rude to me when I asked for a drink that apparently was not included in our companys drink package(I had no clue, and every other bartender had been serving it to me for 1-2 hours prior to me getting to him) Great venue though, minus that guy.
Its not a bad place. Open space for dancing and music selection is good. The lights while the music plays are awesome but the drink price is high which is to be expected and a bartender demanded a tip and sported a attitude all night after my non english speaking friend made a mistake. We left to a better spot after that.
Over priced. Wouldve been nice to know when making the reservation that they close at 12am and not what is listed on their site 4am. No games to play which we were also unaware of since I was not advised while placing reservations and they also charge the 10% covid surcharge so expect to pay extra on your bill. The waitress tried to force us to purchase bottles until we decided we wanted to leave then we were able to purchase separate drinks. Also tried to force me to put 1 card on a tab for a group of 15 people meanwhile 2 drinks of vodka and juice came out to $50. Bottles which cost $200 in regular liquor stores cost 400 and up at this place. Definitely wasnt worth it and wont recommend. I completely understand due to Covid, companies has suffered but to over charge the people who decide to spend their hard earned money at your business is unacceptable. We are all hurting during this time.
There is plenty of potential for fun in this place. First of all, they have a slide! On the main floor there is a bar and a dance floor with a DJ. The lights are ridiculous in this place. There were some dancers up there with the DJ as well. At one point the was a guy playing the saxophone along with to music. Downstairs there are arcade games. I even saw connect four down there and of course its where the slide takes you. There are also stairs if you dont want to slide. I had an enjoyable time. The drinks arent great. I am not a big drinker, usually only take one glass of wine. I had 2 drinks and barely felt a buzz.
When we arrived at 8pm they said that they were closed until 9pm for a private event. We waited in a nearby bar and came back at 9pm. Now they were closed for a private event until 11pm! The fact that they are making good money on the guests of a party shouldnt be a reason to keep the general public out, especially if it was not announced online or if the staff tells you that the party is supposed to end two hours earlier.
Came here on a Saturday night where this place turns more into a club. They have a pretty big dance floor but the dj that night was not the best. He would play a good song every 5 songs. It gets really packed after 12 but its nice they have 2 bars, the bar outside the dance floor is not crowded so you have space to breathe.
The place is huge.Majority of the dancing space is on the main floor. The lower level has games and an arcade. Its easy to make friends here. Especially with a drink or two in you.Fun Crowd. Musics blasting. Bring a good friend and theres no way you wont have a great time!
Slate was a wonderful time. I’m actually writing this review shortly after leaving there. My friend booked a VIP table in the lower level for several of us for her 30th birthday. The drinks are good and the food is great. The one thing that stood out most is the customer service. I separated from my friend and the group to go dance, and apparently my friend got flagged and we needed to leave sooner than later. We tried contacting our mode of transportation without success. One unforseen circumstance lead to another and after speaking with the staff they were very understanding of the situation. I can’t thank slate enough for being so understanding. If you’re looking for a wonderful time and a fun night out, I recommend slate 100%. Check out their website to see what they offer as far as activities goes.
The atmosphere at Slate was fun and engaging. The games were so much fun, the drinks were good, and the food was surprisingly good especially the spring rolls. Its a great spot for a group of friends to just hangout and be active. I was there for a holiday party recently and I would definitely go back.
There were multiple places to lounge and dance, food looked really good (even though no one offered me a menu). Staff was personable when serving drinks but the drinks were not cheap. Music situation was entertaining and people actually danced. (But it was pride so Im not sure if that had something to do with it)
This place is worth all the hype and buzz surrounding it; ground floor has giant connect four, pool tables, and more, while the top floor has a huge dance floor, and theres also a slide. My friends and I were celebrating my one friends birthday and it did not disappoint. Highly recommend this place for special occasions like birthdays/ bachelor(ette) parties.
Nice big venue with two levels --- one with TV to watch sports and another for the dance floor. Came in on a Saturday night. Staff was pretty nice (as nice as possible when you have to deal with club-goers all night long). DJ music selection was pretty terrible. Ordered a few beers (Heineken) throughout the night. Most of them were frozen; bartender was nice enough to let me trade in frozen beers for slightly less frozen ones.
My food wasnt the best but it was a generous amount. They now add a service fee and a covid fee to each bill. My friends and I opted to split the bill but the total on each bill was different and they took more than they were supposed to off of our cards and told us it was time to leave when questioned. Taj next door isnt much better.
I had a great time I ordered the chicken with waffles that was ok and we had a few drinks and bowled You just have to get there early , Otherwise you will be waiting on line for a while. It was a nice atmosphere . The crowd was in there twenties. The service took alittle long but it was a busy night.
Came for a friends birthday. Nice place indoors, friendly caring staff. Bouncer outside though was very rude. Stated Everyone must leave or go to the smokers section. I asked where the section was just to be told repeatedly each time I asked You and your friends are clearly intoxicated, conversation over and Just walk already, I am not engaging . Being that I have not a single drink and was just concerned about getting all my friends in a cab that was a swell way to end the night! Especially when alot of money was spent on bottle service.
The bouncer, hostess and coat girls were really nice and courteous. Its a decent spot I guess? We came there for a work event and had a section to ourselves so Im not sure how it is otherwise. Food tastes great. Although his attitude left something to be desired the bartender made good drinks. He wasnt skimping on the liquor. On the flipside he also didnt know what a black and tan was. You win some you lose some.
Great live Jazz on Wednesday’s! I’ve enjoyed the bands, the food, and the dance floor. The cocktails were not good, though. On one night I ordered the “Blood & Sand” which seemed like a bar specialty. The bartender was reading row menu so he knew how to make it. Then another time a different bartender made me an Old Fashioned that was basically bourbon with some random flavorings, but not an actual Old Fashioned. Admittedly she said she didn’t really do cocktails (Odd for a bartender).
Went here with a friend and even with out a big group I had a great time. You’ll be waiting forever to play games, but the music is great and the nachos were even pretty good. Didn’t pay a cover or anything besides coat check because we went super early. Gets packed throughout the night.

2022-06-05The amusements, music, people and slide here is great! It’s always a vibe. Tickets cost $20 cash or you can buy them online. The lines here can get long and the dress code is no flip flops/sandals and no shorts for men.

2022-06-22My company hosted a private event here. Loved the space - there was a lot to do! Karaoke, bowling, video games, dancing, pool, ping pong, full bar. Servers were excellent. Place was very clean! Would recommend for private events.

2021-12-05PROS: Absolutely amazing! This place is huge with live music and a multitude of bars inside. The music is lit and the drinks were properly made. The staff was very nice and they even had a free coat check. My favorite quality was the slide they hadCONS: The slide needs less wax on it cause its hard to go down. The drinks are also over priced and it takes 9 years for the line outside to move into the barOVERALL: This is definitely a top notch place I would go to and would suggest this with anyone....thats willing to spend a pretty penny

2022-03-19This “Gaming Club” is cool in all the little activities it has to offer. I didn’t get a chance to eat any food because it was too packed and couldn’t find a server. This place a tad expensive, drinks are above $17+ for the most basic mixes. The giant games you play are $2 per player. I only visited the ground floor and bottom floor, the bottom floor has NO cell phone service for AT&T users. My friends with T-Mobile and Verizon had some depending location. I really wanted to go bowling but there was way too many people waiting. I feel like if you want to play any games it’s better to come during the day time and leave the club scene for the night life. They have “free” coat check, which is very convenient. They have different type of music playing in each floor. SUPER LOUD! DJ’s are great!

2021-11-28It was awesome. The djs were on point and the line to get in moved quickly. Cover charge after 11pm. The drinks were a little pricey but the music made up for it. Loved playing the games, but some of them cost extra 5$ for 3 games.

2022-04-19All the points for fun space adult play land vibe. Service and help are an absolute ZERO. Poor attitudes from the hostess, to any help throughout, you are going to wait and wait.We booked a table here for 8 people for my birthday which is the only way to make a reservation and for a group of 8 you are responsible to spend $970 worth of drinks and food and if you don’t quite make it, you will be charged that anyway. My friend waited outside because she was told that a table with our reservation didn’t exist. I went outside to get her and let them know she was with our party and they insisted for ten minutes I was not at a table…. OkOnce finally in unless you get there early be prepared for a line for the fun slide to the lounge and food area downstairs.I like the food actually. Nachos, tuna tartar, sliders, short rib tacos, were all really delicious.Expect to spend a lot. The games are a first come first serve, we really enjoyed the bowling games, only the machine only takes 5’s is cash, there is no way to get change and at least 3 times we waited 20-30 min to get change just to play. You can have classic games like connect four brought to your table which is cute.Crowded. The lounge downstairs if you have a table will be overcome by people in your space and it was shoulder to shoulder most of the time I couldn’t dance really. There was an overcrowded, don’t step on me because there can be a problem vibe for sure. The music downstairs was good with a great mix of hip hop and reggae but the DJ cuts off every song way too soon.Upstairs was the techno spot with a crowd that you cannot permeate. Our waitress in general did her best but slow service. It was fun. I was done and ready to go by midnight lol we stayed till past 1 and while I may show up for a celebration and if you’re looking for a fun adult space try it at least once but be prepared to spend money.

2022-04-26Adult fun and nightclub in one. Great music and drinks are pretty good. About $20 cover on the weekends depending on the time so arrive early. There is usually a line to get in but it goes fast. Security is tight so dont bring extra stuff with you. Keep it cute and simple

2022-02-17Slate New York is a fashionable adult playroom with food and beverages. They have a cloakroom and additional areas to accommodate special engagements as well as live entertainment. We were at this facility for a private event. Nevertheless, all staff were cordial and friendly. The atmosphere was just stunning with all types of fun and games in the downstairs area. We were absolutely enamored by the décor and illumination.
