David Smith, co-owner of Smith + Morgan and master haircutter, is the best! The salon is observing all COVID-19 protocols. Its very well run They recently expanded into an adjacent space and the salon is more attractive and comfortable than ever.
This salon was great. The atmosphere is immediately warm and inviting. Morgan cut my hair. He was exactly what I was looking for. Morgan listened to what I wanted, but also lent his expert advice. Love the cut. Will definitely be coming back.
We were referred by a friend in Texas that we should get our haircut at Smith & Morgan while in Manhattan. We were not disappointed. Morgan is a wonderful stylist and very friendly. He also helped us with places to go and places to avoid while in town. We want to thank Morgan for a delightful first evening in New York.
Style on the UWS and prices that are fair. I adored Sarah but she left and now Brianna is cutting and coloring my hair. A gem on 80th between Broadway and Amsterdam.
I love this place. I used to go to Fox and Jane but was so disappointed in them! Then I found Smith and Morgan and I’m so thrilled. Morgan cuts my hair and like everyone else in the salon, he is friendly and super talented!!!!

2022-03-17I Love Smith and Morgan Salon, very clean, neat, cute & nice vibe place to be doing your hair! Michelle did a great job washing my hair! , and Ofcourse Theo My colorist,she is Amazing! I love the way she did a consultation, very thorough..I Highly Recommend her to anyone doing color, highlights & and a root fading to their hair! I absolutely love my hair everytime! Im obsessed! thanks Theo! I will be back for sure! overall 5 stars to this Salon!

2021-10-02Best haircut I’ve had in NYC in 3 years!!! I’ve tried 4 other places on the upper west side and they all gave me weird/bad versions of what I asked for. My requests are fairly simple, but no one listened to me because they thought they knew what I actually wanted/knew better than me because they’re the professionals. Anthony actually listened to me and did exactly what I asked, plus a little extra flair to put his own, but he always asked before he did anything which I really really appreciate!! The other people in the salon are so kind and lovely! Michelle was amazing while washing my hair, it was so relaxing and she was so nice and fun to talk to the whole time. I will be back for my next hair cut and I’ve definitely found my new regular hair place in the neighborhood!!

2022-01-08I dont usually write reviews but I was unfortunately pretty bummed after my coloring yesterday at the salon for a partial highlight. I wont call out the stylist because I liked her personally and we had a lovely chat the entire time but I think the business missed as a whole on multiple fronts.The biggest disappointment for me was that I came in for a standard partial highlight (been a blonde for a long time so not my first rodeo), shared pictures, discussed overall how I wanted to brighten up the coloring just a few notches but keep it natural. Nothing crazy and Im not even picky when it comes to my hair honestly. The result was that I ended up darker than when I came in with less dimension and nowhere near the pictures I shared. I think she used a toner that was darker than intended and it cut out a lot of the dimension I had when I started and also bumped it from darker blonde to light brown at my base.I kept thinking perhaps I didnt explain it properly which I know can sometimes be the case in this scenario but I looked back at the pictures I shared and I cant help but see how we got here.I was hoping the lighting at home might make it look better but I couldnt sit with it so I decided to do something that Ive never done which is call back the salon (SUPER awkward I might add) and let them know that I wasnt entirely happy/ask for a correction. The receptionist didnt ask many questions and said shed get back to me with scheduling because the stylist wasnt available the rest of the day and was off this weekend...and that was the end! I didnt hear back yesterday, I called and left a message a few hours later, havent heard back today, and am now going to another salon to correct back to even where I started. Id rather repay to have my hair done properly than run the risk at this point and also wait on a phone call I may not be getting.If someone is unhappy with a few hundred dollar service, Id think they would be all over trying to correct that, especially knowing how difficult/awkward it can be for the client to even ask for a correction. But I can say that I havent felt it even after deciding to give them a chance to fix it.In the caliber of other NYC salons, unfortunately this didnt live up. I would suggest as a first-time client to go elsewhere. Plenty of salons in the neighborhood that would likely be more responsive if you didnt like the end result.

2021-10-07Lisa gave me my best facial ever. She didn’t waste time but still applied a number of procedures and products. My face was aglow. She also did not push any products and told me how to best use products I have which she thought were fine. She has a lovely friendly and professional disposition and has lots of experience. Can’t wait till next time!

2020-07-16I love coming to Smith and Morgan. It’s a wonderful calm oasis in the busy, stressful city.Everyone is so friendly, it’s easy to feel at home.I’m very particular about my hair and Morgan does a beautiful job of doing exactly what I want. He’s very talented and provides enjoyable conversation while making my tresses look gorgeous; I can’t recommend him enough.

2019-09-05I love Morgan and would go to no one else. I have curly hair and decided to take a risk and go to him when my curly hair expert moved out of New York. Morgan has given me the best cuts ever. And I go to him for color. I also love the vibe of the place. Its a wonderful salon.

2018-01-18The Smith and Morgan Salon is everything you want from a hair experience, whether it is a weekly blow out or a monthly cut. It is calm and relaxing haven and makes you feel right at home. All the staff are great, helpful and friendly. ! I have been a client of Morgan’s for the last few years and he is no doubt one of the best hairdressers in the City! I enjoy it so much I visit him every week. I would highly recommend this salon for anyone looking for a fresh, professional experience on the UWS.

Everyone at the salon is also very friendly and welcoming, and you will feel right at home. I see Adriana and she is a talented stylist with a great eye for color. I absolutely love my hair...the color, cut and style are on point!
